MEK to lobby the US Congress directly Those backing the MEK /MKO/PMOI have staged a very expensive campaign to call for the group to be removed - a move that would enable the MEK itself officially to lobby Congress the BBC's Bahman Kalbasi has previously reported. But detractors say the government should not bow to the group, saying ample evidence remains to justify keeping them on the terror list...

UNHCR: Camp Ashraf residents have to renounce violence before applying for refugee status A spokesman for the UN High Commission on Refugees, Andrej Mahecic, said residents of Camp Ashraf could apply individually for refugee status, which would help them find a permanent home. But before that could happen, they would have to renounce violence as a means of achieving their goals, which some have refused to do, he added.Shahin Gobadi, a PMOI/MKO/MEK spokesman based in Paris, said the camp residents would be willing to move to the US or EU member states willing to grant them asylum."We have no intention of staying in Iraq, but there has been no response," he told the Reuters news agency.

Iraqi parliament leaves Saddamists and Mojahedin Khalq in the cold ... the al-Iraqiyya members had wanted parliament to pass a motion to remove the stigma of Baathism which had barred four of the coalition's key figures from taking political office. Although not opposed to Mr Talabani's re-election itself, they had wanted the motion to be passed before the election of the president. "We boycotted the session because we showed good intentions to others, but they stabbed us in the back," Saleh al-Mutlak, ... But despite the walk-out, the parliamentary session continued and MPs went on to re-elect Mr Talabani ...

No one is to open the gates of Ashraf from the within ... BBC report starts with a sight of a big lock on the gate of Ashraf and the starting point of the text is “No one is to open the doors; all cries are uttered in vain”. Then the father of an Ashraf resident tells the reporter “It is for 22 years that I’ve received no letter of my son”. Some MKO members managing to escape from Ashraf are quoted as saying “Mojahedin high rankings prevent members to leave camp by means of intimidation, threat, and coercive measures”...

The only "benefit" that Jordan reaps from the participation of MPs in the MKO's activities is straining relations with Tehran without any reason and laying obstacles to developing relations between the two countries. We are not saying this in order to defend the positions of Iran, but we are saying it out of concern for Jordan's interests. Had the disagreement with Iran been over principled issues, we would have blessed the positions of MPs and pressed on their hands in confronting Iran. However, we are faced with political (and not personal) positions, which are against Jordan and of which Jordan is innocent. What does more injustice to Jordan than this?

Iraq takes control of Camp Ashraf After a five-year US military presence and the protection provided by them to the monafeqin in Camp Ashraf [a pejorative that means hypocrites and refers to the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO)], efforts by the Iraqi government have succeed. Yesterday evening, the Iraqi military was able to take over control of the camp.

The American and British failure in containing the Islamic revolution movement and the ever increasing role of Iran in regional and international developments has led them to consider all possible alternatives against the Islamic revolution and has forced Britain to resort to a burnt-out element which is "Munafeqin" [Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization -MKO]. This requires a closer look because the British were famous for their "wisdom" and "ingenuity" in politics.

Larijani said that talks were held three times with Iran. Iran has presented a coherent programme to help Iraq but the Americans are conducting certain bizarre approaches such as arming non-military groups some 70,000 in number. He drew parallels between this policy and arming the Mojahedin Khalq fighters and Pezhak in Kordestan. He called this serious. He said that this tactic will not change the realities of Iraq.
