Zebari: Iraq pursues expulsion of MKO members

Zebari made the remarks in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Ali-Akbar Salehi on the sidelines of the ongoing 16th NAM ministerial meeting which started on May 25 and will continue for three days.

The two officials reviewed latest developments in the Middle East region and in North Africa as well.

Zebari said while in Tehran, his talks with the Iranian officials would be focused on following up the implementation of the previously made agreements between the two countries.

The Iraqi foreign minister said that Baghdad was pursuing expulsion of members of the terrorist Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) from Iraq.

He further referred to bilateral cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad saying that it was growing in all fields.

Meanwhile, the Iranian foreign minister said that Iran and Iraq have enjoyed cordial relations which should be fostered.

Criticizing big powers’ double-standard policies on the regional and international developments, the two ministers stressed the need to hold further talks on taking due stand on the regional questions.
