At last on Saturday at dawn Saddam Hussein, the Iraqi dictator, went to the gallows and they put the noose around his neck. Although he was hanged only for being sentenced for murdering 148 Shi’ite Muslims in the town of Dujail in 1982, yet at the time of his execution, he was being tried on charges of genocide perpetrated against the Iraqi Kurds in the 1980s, not speaking of his many other crimes.
Saddam’s execution temporally relived MKO of the fear that was churning inside them as the organization was one of Saddam’s collaborates in killing the Iraqi Kurds. During his reign of terror, Saddam had turned Iraq into a safe haven for notorious terrorist groups such as MKO.
As TruthNews in a commentary released on December 30 states, Saddam Hussein had a long history of supporting and sponsoring terrorism and Iraq was one of seven countries that were designated by the Secretary of State as state sponsors of international terrorism. Referring to one of the specific charges listed by the White House against Saddam, the commentary states:
Iraq sheltered terrorist groups including the Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO), which used terrorist violence against Iran and in the 1970s was responsible for killing several U.S. military personnel and U.S. civilians.
Although enjoying a temporally supported status, the terrorists and mercenaries of Saddam can never escape the judgment of a nation that is determined to resolve on its own destiny.
