After Massoud Rajavi gained the absolute authority over the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MEK/ MKO/ PMOI/ Cult of Rajavi), which was achieved with the death of Musa Khiyabani in Tehran, as an opposition movement he could also gain some support from Western countries.

Their argument was that the fate of the Islamic Republic was first of all linked to the outcome of Iran-Iraq war and secondly, the other superpowers do not want Iran to win in the war, and thus Iraq will not lose the battle. Therefore, Rajavi decided to formally sit next to Saddam Hussein and to link the whole entity of his organization to the Iraqi Ba’ath regime.

Rajavi arrived in Baghdad from Paris to sign treaties with Tariq Aziz, the then Deputy Prime Minister of Iraq, on June 7, 1986. As a result, the strategy of urban guerrilla warfare turned into the strategy of the liberation army.

Rajavi’s analysis included the followings:
1. Regional warfare is not stable, its activity and inactivity are relative and sporadic
2. Urban guerrilla warfare with the goal of killing the regime’s agents, although it is linked to the regional warfare in a progressive phase, takes a lot of time and prompts the enemy’s full cover so it is futile in short-term. When someone kills an agent of the Iranian revolutionary guard, he believes that the system is still stable. In this case, rapid and fast overthrow do not work.

3. The Liberation War is a completely new experience in the contemporary history of the world and it’s with more subtle and more perfect than any military strategy. With the aim of breaking spells in the short run, and by resorting to the golden principle of maximum invasion, total warfare and absolute mobility, it manifests itself in revolutionary warfare.

Rajavi’s ostensible analysis survived the collapse of Saddam Hussein, and the eventual expulsion of the MEK from Iraq, and ultimately, its relocation in Tirana in Albania. It is still considered as the main strategy of the group.
For years, however, there has been no war of this kind, but the priority for the MEK leaders is to launch a new war against Iran. They spend millions of dollars in their lobbies in the US government to obstruct any possible negotiations between Iran and the US.
The question is that, exactly what kind group is the MEK which is ready to make all its efforts to rebuild a new war with Iran? The priority of military invasion to Iran is so crucial for the MEK that they are ready to admit the disgrace of their wish against the Iranian nation!

Stay in war conditions
The two main dimensions of this important issue are the maintenance of forces within the organization and the use of the group as a proxy force against the Islamic Republic of Iran for Western government like US and Israel. More precisely, the leaders of the MEK can only promise to their victory to their members in a direct conflict with Iran after 40 years of frustration and failure. On the other hand, the experience of the group in Saddam’s war against Iran will be appreciable inside the group, only during the repetition of the war on Iran.

Subversion only with war
Today, the political estimates of the world show that in the current stability and security of Iran there is no sign of the collapse. Iran is one of the most powerful countries in the region and it can even impose its will on the region and even the world – an incident that has actually occurred.
This estimate for Iran is so clear that MEK can understand even with all that mistaken analysis and strategies of Massoud Rajavi, they have to admit that their 40 years of their work will bear no fruit. So the only option left for them to collapse the Islamic Republic is a military warfare. Aside from the fact that over the past decade no power in the world has been willing to launch a war on Iran because of its risks, but the MEK leaders still hope that the conditions will reach a stage where this option will be implemented.

Living in an insecure environment
A survey on 40 years of MEK’s activities and possible achievements show that at the peak of its power and capabilities due to the lack of the least popular base, the group has never been a source of social movements in Iran, and has only been able to move into insecure slots. In fact, a stable and secure Iran risks the existence of the group.

Stability and progress of Iran mean death to the MEK, so they struggle to obscure the media atmosphere in the absence of military options against Iran. This psychological act is not just limited to the media of the group, the elements of the group try to induce a military strike against Iran in an extreme manner in the various media spaces and social networks in which they are active.

The arrival of the Lincoln Aircraft Carrier to the Persian Gulf or the dispatch of an American bomber into the region are examples of news headlines in the MEK-run media.
The MEK makes efforts to insecure the mental space of the Iranian society. This way, they provide justification for members who are no longer in control of the group leaders to stay in Camp Ashraf 3 in Albania.

Following the years of the presence of the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO/ MEK/ PMOI/ Cult of Rajavi) in Iraq, in Saddam’s era, who fully supported the MEK and also after the American invasion to Iraq, the group leaders never imagined that they would have to leave Iraq one day.

But these events eventually took place and the will of the Iraqi people won all the lobbies and pressures of the supporters of the MEK. The destructive cult of Rajavi was ultimately forced to leave Iraq.

In the last months of the MEK’s presence in Iraq, the leaders of the group who did not want to admit this expulsion order, took several actions to prevent the Iraqi government from enforcing this legal decision. One of these actions was the display of the support of the Iraqi nation, including the minorities and tribes. But the fact is that the history of harassment, betrayal and the loss of financial resources on behalf of the MEK will never be erased from the memory of the Iraqi people.

However, the MEK leaders tried to demonstrate to the European authorities that Iraqi people have no problem with their presence in Iraq and even support their terrorist group. That was why, from time to time the MEK media used to show some Iraqis, members of the tribes living in the neighborhood of Camp Ashraf as guests of the groups in various occasions. They were allegedly there to express support for the continued presence of the MEK in Iraq.

Getting help from some corrupt officials in Iraq who talked about supporting this terrorist organization and their need to remain in the country was another part of the organization’s tricks in Iraq. They made efforts to link with other political authorities.

Among their other actions was the insertion of fake news in Iraqi newspapers and media of the so-called support of groups, including guilds, political organizations that, according to the MEK, they all wanted the remaining of MEKin Iraq. These adverts, which were published by some Iraqi newspapers as a result of MEK payment, eventually did not come to an end, and the deportation order of the MEK was signed and executed from Iraq, and the members of this terrorist group went to Albania.

In addition, MEK enters the individuals and media in channelized way to Ashraf Camp 3 to pursue the following objectives:

Decentralizing public opinion about the actions of the MEK and legitimizing the presence of a terrorist cult in Albania

Facilitate the general engagement of the MEK in Albania to release acts of malicious acts
Democratic and libertarian imaging of the terrorist cult of the MEK

There is, however, a question and a possibility that can be explained by the similarity of the behavior of the MEK in Albania today and the actions of their past years in Iraq.

The question is why the organization is acting in Albania like its late months in Iraq?

Is it not that the MEK afraid of the possibility of expulsion from their current location and the same fate as what happened in Iraq!

Indeed, the organization, with the experience gained in Iraq, is well aware that it may be fired from Albania again, and knows better that this fiasco may lead to a complete collapse and the loss of all members.

According to news and documents recorded in the late years of the presence of the MEK in Iraq, one of the mechanisms of the organization to stay in this country was to exclude their expulsion of the priorities of the Iraqi government.

To achieving this goal, the MEK tried to create a number of security challenges for Iraq, including the role they played in designing terrorist acts, including bombing, training the suicide bombers of Takfiri groups and creating religious differences.

According to documents and news released by the Iraqi police in several bombings in the country where its agents were arrested, the footprints of the MEK, and even the presence of members of the organization that directly participated in the operation, have been discovered and proven in many cases.

However, this costly measure for the oppressed and Muslim nation of Iraq was not effective for the MEK it points out that, as the Organization’s propaganda and political actions to stay in Albania with a pattern of their behavior in Iraq, the risk of choosing the options for security challenges and the terrorist acts can also be placed on the agenda of this organization, which has a history of crimes and assassinations.

The Iraqi Council of Ministers announced Tuesday that it has assigned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to address the United Nations, "to fulfill its obligations", in removing the members of the "MKO", considering their existence as contrary to the Constitution for being a "terrorist organization."

The council said in a statement a copy of which received by Ashraf News , that, "the Council of Ministers <img alt=""src="https://st.nejatngo.org/Image/Flag/Iraq_3.jpg"style="width: 220px; height: 156px; margin: 10px; float: right;"/>has decided to instruct the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to address the UN to fulfill its obligations it agreed on with the Iraqi Government to get the MEK out and transfer its members to other countries."

He added that the reason for the decision of the Council is, "the growing problems caused by the presence of the Organization (MKO) on Iraq’s national security and the security of neighboring countries, and because their presence is contrary to the Constitution for being a terrorist organization."

The Committee on ending MKO file announced, in September 22, 2013, that the Iraqi Government had lost patience with the file of the MEK terrorist organization, and confirmed that it was considering other options to issue a binding decision to end their presence in Camp Liberty. As the UN called upon the States concerned with the Camp to provide money to resettle MKO members in other countries and not just the giving tips, it held the Iraqi Government responsible for the safety and security of the residents of the camp.

Mojahedin Khalq will be expelled soon

<img alt=""src="https://st.nejatngo.org/Image/Politician/UN/Meladinof.jpg"style="width: 260px; height: 153px; margin: 10px; float: left;"/>UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s Special Representative for Iraq and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) Nikolay Mladenov was in Iraq for the country’s parliamentary election on April 30. He talked with RFE/RL’s Radio Free Iraq correspondent Faris Omar about his assessment of the voting process.

RFE/RL: The parliamentary election on April 30 was the first since U.S. troops left Iraq a little over two years ago. How smoothly did the election go, in your opinion?

Nikolay Mladenov: This was the first entirely Iraqi-owned process in which the United Nations had an advisory role but the leading role was with the Iraqi authorities. And they deserve a lot of credit for a very professional manner in which they approached the organization of the election.”

RFE/RL: The election took place against a backdrop of rising violence in Iraq, which is in the midst of its worst unrest since the country came near to civil war in 2008. At the same time, security forces are actively fighting insurgents in two key cities of Anbar province — Fallujah and the outskirts of Ramadi. Did the security situation have much impact on the election?

Mladenov: The security situation in Iraq is very difficult and inevitably this places a burden on the voting process and on the country at large. Therefore, the fact that 60 percent of people did come out to vote is even more remarkable. The legitimacy of the vote, the acceptance of the results — we will see how the public will react to that once the results are finalized.

RFE/RL: Do you think the election will help Iraq address some of its biggest internal political problems? For example, the disputed border of the autonomous Kurdish region, a dispute which is causing tension between different communities in the north of Iraq, including the Kurds, Turkomans, and Arabs?

Mladenov: I am hopeful that, once the new parliament convenes and the new government is formed, we will — with the cooperation of the federal government in Baghdad and the regional government in Irbil — be able to get back to…resolving the disputed internal boundaries.”

RFE/RL: When we look at Iraq’s conflicts, they often seem to be along sectarian and religious lines. Are you optimistic that Iraq will be able to overcome these divides, partly through democratic processes like this recent election?

Mladenov: Iraqis have for many years been one of the societies in the region that has seen the highest number of intermarriages between faiths and ethnic groups. The people of this country are tired of sectarian divisions and are tired of being labeled in different ways.

RFE/RL: Finally, on a slightly different subject, the UN is involved in the difficult task of trying to resolve the fate of the remaining members of the Iranian opposition group — the Mujahedin-e Khalq — who are still interned at Camp Ashraf and Camp Liberty in Iraq as they await countries to take them as refugees. What are the prospects for finishing this process and closing the camps?

Mladenov: The UN has appointed a special representative to seek relocation opportunities for this group. We are working closely with our American friends and partners who also are looking to such opportunities. It is not an easy process but it is a very important process to find a way for these people to leave the country and to continue their lives in other parts of the world.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari has called on the United Nation to speed up efforts to relocate the members of the terrorist Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) to third countries.

During a meeting with Special Adviser of the UN Secretary-General for relocation of camp Hurriya (Liberty) occupants in Baghdad on Wednesday, Zebari stated that the UN needs to expedite the resettlement of the MKO terrorists outside Iraq, noting that the Iraqi government has fulfilled all its obligations in this respect.

He also emphasized Iraq’s support for all efforts aimed at relocating the MKO terrorists to outside the Arab country.

Zebari further noted that the Baghdad government has recently made a financial contribution of half a million dollars to a trust fund proposed by the UN chief to cover the costs related to the MKO relocation.

In a press release on December 27, 2013, the UN refugee agency said that UNHCR and the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) had relocated 311 out of 3,200 residents of the Camp Hurriya (Liberty) to third countries.

In December 2011, the United Nations and Baghdad agreed to relocate some 3,000 MKO members from Camp New Iraq, formerly known as Camp Ashraf, to the former US-held Camp Hurriya.

The last group of the MKO terrorists was evicted by the Iraqi government in September 2013 and relocated to Camp Hurriya to await potential relocation to other countries.

The MKO is listed as a terrorist organization by much of the international community and has committed numerous terrorist acts against Iranians and Iraqis.

The group fled Iran in 1986 for Iraq, where it received now-executed Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein’s support and set up Camp Ashraf near the Iranian border.

An Iraqi political analyst and advisor to the country’s prime minister denounced some countries’ support for the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK, a.k.a. MKO) as “dishonorable”.<img alt="Iraqi political analyst condemns MKO supporters"src="https://st.nejatngo.org/Image/Politician/Iraq/Al_Matlabi/Saad_Al_Matlabi_1.jpg"style="width: 260px; height: 208px; margin: 10px; float: right;"/>

Referring to the delay in MKO’s expulsion from Iraq, Sa’ad al-Motallebi told Habilian’s correspondent in Iraq that the reason for this delay is the lack of commitment of those countries who had previously expressed willingness to take them in their countries.

He also made a reference to the politicians supporting the MKO and said, “Some politicians who have received money from the MKO not only supports the group but they also act on their behalf.”

The political expert said the reluctance of countries to accept these individuals in their countries may be due to the fact that these countries regard MKO members with suspicion.

Al-Motallebi underlined the necessity of the UN’s assistance in this issue, adding, “the UN has committed to lend a hand to Iraq in the expulsion of this group.”

He finally asserted that MKO members are not eligible for asylum in Iraq and Baghdad has the right to “expel them wherever in the world.” “But Baghdad has agreed to do the job in cooperation with the UN due to humanitarian issues.

Iraq’s parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee asked the government to expedite the expulsion of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran and to finally close the file on them, and indicated that the United Nations has been responsible for the delay until now.<img alt="Parliament asks government to expedite the MKO expulsion"src="https://st.nejatngo.org/Image/Icon/Iraq_Expell/Ashraf_Evacuation_201209_L.jpg"style="width: 240px; height: 170px; margin: 10px; float: right;"/>

Committee member Imad Yohana said, “The decision to deport the MEK from Iraq should also be examined by the government and parliament, because in the situation that they are deported without a place to go, this will affect the international reputation of Iraq.”

He explained that “the existence of the organization on Iraqi soil until now is the United Nations’ fault; because they cannot find alternative solutions to house them in other places as they have promised.”

The government evacuated Camp Ashraf in Diyala province in the summer of 2013 and has transferred more than 3,000 troops to Camp Liberty in the west of Baghdad.

The government took the decision to finally terminate the existence of this organization on Iraqi territory in the past year as it is a terrorist organization.
