US-Iran relations haven’t been this tense in years. The Trump administration withdrew from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal in May – and last month, levelled threats against Tehran at the UN General Assembly. But caught between all this is a group based in Albania with a mission to overthrow the Iranian government. The MEK, previously in Iraq, now operates out of a military compound near the capital Tirana. Our Courtney Kealy went there to get a glimpse.

https://dlb.nejatngo.org/Media/Report/TRT_MEK_Iran_Regime_201810.mp4

The Iran-based MEK based in Albania, which has the support of the United States of America, wants to change the Iranian regime.

“I miss her. I love her very much, I love her very much. I love Somaye, please come out,”, Mahbube Mohammadi, the mother of an MEK member breaks down while talking about her daughter.

Somaye is a member of Mujahedin_e Khalq, known as the MEK, a shadowy group dedicated to regime change in Iran.

“Just please help me,… if you can please …”says Somaye’s mother while shedding tears.

Somaye lives in a secret compound in Albania with the group limit contact with the outside world.

The Mohammdi say they used to support the MEK but now they want just their daughter to come home. …

A day after 38-year-old Somayeh Mohammadi, a member of the MEK group which opposes the so-called Iranian regime and who publicly accused her father of being a Tehran spy, the father reacted. Through a letter to Balkanweb’s editorial office, Mostafa Mohammadi states that his daughter is held hostage by the MEK group leaders in Tirana. He points to one of the members of the MEK group in Tirana, who is called Farid Toutonchi. Among other things he writes:

“I call you the name you registered with in Albania, but your original name is Farid Mahoutchi. In Albania you are known as one of the top executives of the Mojahedin propaganda office, while in Iraq you were the commander of Tank Division 4, otherwise known as the Karun Division whose task was fighting against Iran, Arabs and rebels Kurds who opposed the regime of Saddam Hussein. In Iraq you are wanted for crimes against humanity, but in Albania with the new name and the new identity you have taken, you appear as a media man.

Through this letter we want to thank you for the show that you made of our daughter Somayeh yesterday in the News 24 media. We want to thank you for finally not using Mr Namik Kopliku and not the lawyer Margarita Kola to show our daughter to the media. Fortunately, now that Somayeh’s hostage issue is becoming international, you finally decided to remove the mask and come out in front of the television cameras.

LETTER

In your recent statement that your organization made against the British Channel 4 television company, among other things you attacked the UK government. You attacked the British Foreign Office Minister for the Middle East and North Africa, Alistair Burt, as well as attacking many journalists, lawyers, and other people who are interested in the issue of Somayeh. With the follies that only you know how to fabricate, you implicate the British government along with the Iranian government in a conspiracy against your terrorist cult. After you have beaten and threatened journalists and lawyers, cried for the Albanian government to protect you from Iran’s “terrorists”, after you have persuaded the Albanian government to close the borders to Iranian families who want to meet and save their children from your jihad, after you paid Albanians to distribute your tracts and scams in the media, finally you have come out yourself in front of the television. This is a great achievement.

In the media statement that our daughter Somayeh read in your presence, she reiterated the allegations and defamations you have made against our family for several years. Our fearful and radicalized daughter accused us of being Iranian agents sent to Albania by Iran and other idiocy that only the sick minds of Maryam Rajavi’s terrorists know to create. You made this shameful parade with our daughter whom you’ve kept hostage for 21 years. You deceived our daughter to leave Canada and left her without a family, no husband or child, no education and no future, and keep her in reserve as a terrorist for Maryam Rajavi and her war against Iran.

Commander Farid Mahoutchi, with the appearance before the media of our radicalized daughter, brainwashed and scared, and the media who have agreed to play your game and do not ask the questions that need to be asked, you have proven once again that our daughter is held hostage by your defunct terrorist organization. According not only to international human rights organization experts, but also Canadian media, there are several hundred people in your organization like Somayeh who are being held hostage. Those people at whom you chant and tell them that their parents are enemies and Iranian agents to be killed, are living in total isolation. They are not allowed to communicate with their families and are muddled by ideas of radical jihad and violent extremism.

Our daughter, reading the text written by the Mujahideen command, which was performed under your supervision, made the situation sound very frightening. Our daughter’s confession that her parents are Iranian agents and because of that she will not talk to us is similar to the confessions that ISIS hostages made in front of cameras in the presence of jihadist commanders who killed and executed those hostages. You did this too Mahoutchi / Toutonchi. In Syria there were many radicalized ISIS people who killed their parents. This is what you also intend to do Mahoutchi / Toutonchi. You have radicalized and alienated our daughter from her family and made her see us as enemies. You have removed our daughter from Canadian civilization and democracy and kept her as a soldier in your jihadist camp in Manza waiting to perform jihad against Iran. With your radical and violent extremist ideas, you have turned our daughter into a controlled and fearful robot who cannot love her mother and father, who rejects Canada and democracy and agrees to live as a suicide bomber for Maryam Rajavi to make war and jihad against Iran.

Commander Farid Mahoutchi, because you are the main hostage holder of our daughter and together with the fearsome commander and torturer Behzad Saffari, you are the two key persons who control our daughter in Albania and who threaten and violate journalists and who beat me in Tirana a few weeks ago, I’m boldly looking for a favor.

Is it possible for you to bring our daughter for just an hour to meet her mother, Mahbubeh, who is in Tirana, since I, according to you, am an Iranian agent and I have to be killed by MEK? All the enmity you are creating by attacking and threatening Albanian journalists, lawyers, beating me and accusing us of being Iranian agents, inventing agents and alienation between Albania and Iran, accusing the British government of conspiracy against you with Iran, blackmailing Albanian public opinion that Iran wants to kill you, etc., can be solved very simply.

Bring Somayeh into a public space. Let Somayeh meet for an hour alone with her mother, without your presence and the other jihadists who surround her. Trust Somayeh to live for an hour without the presence of your jihadist commanders, so that she, like all other children in the world, can meet her parents. We will not eat Somayeh. We will not take Somayeh to Iran. We will not turn her against MEK. We will simply appeal to our daughter to abandon jihad and terrorism and come with us to Canada. We know that this means one fewer self-sacrificing fighter for you, but you must let this happen if you want the democratic world to respect and see you as a democratic opposition rather than jihadist hijackers.

Can Commander Farid Mahoutchi do this little thing? We know that our daughter, who was kidnapped as a minor from Toronto, is kept as a sleeping suicide-bomber for the terrible jihad that you dream of performing against Iran one day. You as a tank commander, you have blood-stained hands, and Somayeh looks to you like a suicide bomber for the war you dream of one day.

But we, as her parents, who have been in Albania since July 5, 2018, who are going to the police and taking you to court, who you are beating and reviling as agents and terrorists, we only want one thing: to meet our daughter.

Commander Farid Mahoutchi, you should know that while the Albanian state tolerates you keeping hundreds of isolated and radicalized hostages in your camp in Manza, beating and threatening journalists and lawyers, blaming and defaming foreign governments etc, the international community sooner or later will condemn what you are doing. Somayeh is a hurricane that will severely damage you in the eyes of the world. You cannot keep hostages in Europe. Albania is not Saddam Hussein’s Iraq and you cannot behave like tank drivers and terrorists here. The threats you and Commander Behzad Saffari and others are making against Albanian and foreign journalists will not easily be forgotten. Europe cannot be intimidated by your terrorism and threats, and in no way accepts hostages and jihad.

We, Somayehs’ parents, that you have held hostage for 21 years, we have only one request. Let us meet our daughter! If you understand the minimum of civilization and democracy you have to do this! Do not behave like jihadists and criminals!

Mostafa Mohammadi and Mahbubeh Hamza

Mostafa Mohammadi and Mahbubeh Hamza

In a letter that Margarita Kola, the lawyer of the defunct terrorist Mojahedin group, has published in the Albanian media, Kola has repeated the slander and lies that the Mojahedin cult casts against me and my daughter whom they hold hostage. For this reason, we the parents of Somayeh wrote this answer to Mrs. Margarita Kola:

First, we say that Mrs Margarita Kola, in her letter written on behalf of a so-called phantom group called ‘The Committee of Lawyers for the PMOI in Albania (CJPA)’, repeats the lies that the Mojahedin terrorists throw at me and the hundreds of other parents of the members they hold hostage in Albania. She says that I, Mostafa Mohammadi, came to Albania to mislead public opinion and conduct a campaign to denigrate the defunct MEK terrorist organization.

Secondly, she claims that I am an agent of the Iranian government who exerts psychological pressure on my daughter to surrender; ie to abandon jihad and terrorism and become a normal person and have a civilized life away from violent extremism and radicalisation.

Third, she claims that Somayeh stands by her wish to remain in the MEK military camp and voluntarily refuses Canada and a free life.

Fourth, she repeats the idiotic propaganda slogans of MEK, which claims that MEK is a democratic and revolutionary organization, while the Iranian regime plans attacks against the elderly MEK members and that I am part of these attacks. In an illegal way, she asks the Albanian government to expel me from Albania so that the MEK terrorists and hostage takers will not have to face me in court.

In relation to the above, as Somayeh’s family, we say to Mrs Kola:

Be ashamed of the slander you fling at me and my family and for becoming party to a defunct terrorist gang that has held my daughter hostage for 21 years. If you were a real lawyer, you would not play with the card that you are a former US Embassy employee and would not blackmail people left and right with the slogan: “You know who I am, if you know you will save your job!” A real lawyer respects the law and does not write slander in the media. Because you – as a lawyer – know very well what is the sequence of criminal offenses; lack of free will, freedom of the person, deprivation of the right to free movement, the presumption of innocence, what is the difference between arrest and accompanying the police, what is a final decision or right to appeal.

I am not in Albania to attack MEK, I am here to release my daughter from the MEK’s terrorist-jihadist cult. I want to save my daughter from violent extremism and radicalisation. I want to save Somayeh from Manzas’ hell and take her to Canada’s freedom. At no time did I want to take my daughter to Iran, nor do I care what you do politically. I have left Iran as an asylum-seeker. If you look at my Canadian passport that MEK has copied, my country of birth exists alongside my Canadian nationality. Obtaining a visa from Iran to enter Iraq for a while does not make me anything, it does not make me less of a parent, nor take away the right to be the father of Somayeh. You as a lawyer should know that a visa does not show anything, but you have become a party to the defunct terrorists and slander me along with this group. As a lawyer, can you explain legally what is this radical group to my daughter? Why should the group interfere with our parental relationship and keep my daughter hostage? Why should I communicate through the media with my daughter? What guarantee do I have that my daughter is not being tortured or psychologically abused by this group, as the former Mojahedin members tell me? Why in any case did you not tell why I, a MEK supporter, wanted to remove my children from this group? You as a lawyer should know that my son stayed in MEK for five years and is witness to all the suffering there.

The Jihadist commanders Behzad Saffari, Jila Deyhim, Ahmad Taba etc., who hold my daughter hostage, led the gangs that beat me in Tirana in July and have their hands stained with blood and murder in Iraq, Iran, etc, one day, sooner or later will face justice just as Saddam Hussein and Slobodan Milosevic did. If they do not face justice in Albania, they will face justice in the European courts.

Commander Behzad Saffari, a jihadist who probably wrote for you the propaganda letter you have signed against me, is one of the key people in the kidnapping, abuse and psychological pressure of my daughter. He will one day face the law for his pressure and blackmail against my daughter as proven by Canadian sources. Behzad Saffari, who runs the MEK offensive in Albania and coerces the media not to publish the charges against the MEK under the justification of “if you do this, Iran will kill us”, is the person who tortured my son Mohamad in Iraq, holding me prisoner in a container in the desert, and he is the key person holding my daughter in Manza.

My daughter Somayeh Mohammadi is hostage to the terrorist MEK organization. The letters she writes are not written by her but by Mojahedin commanders holding her hostage in the Manza camp. The MEK jihadist command does not allow my daughter to go free but keeps her locked inside the camp. Why?

They are afraid that if Somayeh meets her parents and leaves of her own free will, she will publicise the crimes that MEK has comitted against her. The letters MEK publishes on her behalf are letters that the MEK itself writes. The MEK and jihadists like Behzad Saffari are so scared of my daughter that they do not want her to leave the Manzas jihadist camp and meet with her parents or journalists. They do not trust Somayeh to be free. For this reason, in recent weeks MEK has attacked and beaten and insulted Albanian media and journalists, Britons etc. who went to Manza camp to meet Somayeh. MEK does not dare at any time to let Somayeh go free. For this reason, they have probably written the letter you signed against us for you. They want to frighten public opinion and justify not allowing anyone to have access to a free Somayeh who does not live under the constant pressure of MEK jihadists. Somayeh is as free as the ISIS hostages who were free when they came out in front of the cameras and praised ISIS with a pistol at their heads. And you Mrs. Kola know this very well.

Commander Behzad Saffari has never forgiven Somayeh and never leaves her alone to be free because in 2004 when she was interviewed by Canadian authorities she expressed the desire to leave MEK. But as shown in reports from Canada (read Stewart Bell’s writings in Albanian.com), she was blackmailed by Behzad Saffari in the presence of Canadian officials and she lives in psychological terror of this terror Mojahed.

Mrs Margarita Kola. We, Somayeh’s parents, want our daughter to live as freely as you. To dress as she pleases. Go for a coffee like you. If she wants, to use a marital agency like you. Marry, have a family, a companion and have companionship like you. If you think our daughter is happy with the life she has, we suggest that you change roles with our daughter. Go to Manzas and become a jihadist, dress in a military uniform, and live in the middle of the heat at the MEK military camp and pray for jihad against Iran. As a witness to this, convince Behzad Saffari to release our daughter and let her enjoy a free life like you do in Tirana.

Understandably, the MEK command will never allow such a thing. Behzad Saffari would not accept you as a jihadist in Manza, as you do not meet their standards.

We ask the Albanian authorities to secure the life of our daughter who is held hostage by MEK, as we know that if one day our daughter is at liberty, the MEK will do everything they can to ensure she does not live anymore.

Somayeh knows many secrets of the MEK. That is why she is kept in isolation at the Manzas jihadist camp.

But we her parents promise we will never stop our legal battle to liberate our daughter from the defunct MEK terrorist organization.

In 2006, MEK accused Stewart Bell of being ‘an agent of the Iranian regime’.

This summer, 2018, Mostafa travelled to Albania in another attempt to meet with his daughter away from MEK control. MEK responded aggressively, accusing Mostafa and his wife of being ‘agents of the Iranian regime’. MEK has also accused Albanian journalists, a Channel 4 film crew from the UK and another British journalist with The Guardian, of being ‘agents of the Iranian regime’. However, at no time did MEK allow Somayeh Mohammadi to leave the camp to meet independently with her family or anyone else. This has scandalized Albanian public opinion.

Following this is a document in Farsi giving background to this story, including hand written letters by Somayeh Mohammadi to her family and the Canadian authorities, asking for help to be brought out of the MEK camp in Iraq and taken to Canada. The post includes family photographs.

According to the parents, the Mojahedin command is afraid to let the girl go free as she knows ‘many secrets of rape and crimes that the former MEK terrorist organization has committed against its members’.

Editorial

TIRANA – Following the interview with Somayeh Mohammadi, a member of the Iranian resistance MEK in Albania, with the head of the Albanian-Mojahedin Friendship Association, Namik Kopliku, which was broadcast by Report TV, the girl’s parents reacted again asking the latter help to intervene to release the girl. They say in a letter that MEK keeps its members as slaves, and that their daughter has given the interview under pressure and threats. According to them, the Mojahedin command is afraid to let the girl go free as she knows ‘many secrets of rape and crimes that the former MEK terrorist organization has committed against its members’.

‘Please ask the Mujahideen leaders to let our free girl. We want to get our daughter out of the Manzas jihad camp where the Mojahedin live as modern slaves or prisoners who are waiting for the moment when Maryam Rajavi orders them to march and do jihad against Iran. For this reason, we are publicly asking you to use the access you have to the Mojahedin terrorist organization and to help us meet our daughter”, says the letter among other things.

In an interview published by Report TV, the 38-year-old explains her 15-year history and says that she is willing to stay with MEK and would not hesitate to leave if she decided to one day. The 38-year-old’s father appealed to Albanian institutions, denouncing her kidnapping by MEK, while his daughter says her father is lying.

FULL LETTER

Mr. Namik Kopliku, release our daughter from the MEK organization

Mr. Namik Kopliku, as Somayeh’s parents, we saw your interview in the Albanian newspaper where you uploaded the video of August 3 you made with our daughter at the Mojahedin’s Manzas camp. The video broadcast in Albania gives some excerpts of the interview that you and your wife, in the presence of 3 Mojahedin commanders, have made with our daughter. The interview with our daughter came after a few days of intimidation and coercion that the Mojahedin command made against daughter, who then asked her to come before you and say she will not meet her parents, as the Mojahedin command tells her that her family are enemies and agents of Iran.

In your TV Report interview you protect the totalitarian Mojahedin group which you treat as Democrats. As a former Mojahedin member, I declare that the Mojahedin are a totalitarian Stalinist cult that does not accept democracy, does not allow democratic elections, keeps its members isolated, radicalizes them with the crazy idea that Maryam Rajavi is a holy saint who will one day liberate Iran, killing the mullahs, destroying mosques, and building a utopian Stalinist regime with Maryam Rajavi as Supreme Leader. This group, which has been in Albania for three years, is still in a state of war. It does not accept any de-radicalization program from the Albanian government or other organs, and these refugees refuse to integrate into Albanian society and obey Albanian laws.

Many deserters who have abandoned the Mojahedin organization and live in Tirana talk and tell how in the MEK camp the military command keeps its members as slaves. They seized their ID documents, passports, and did not provide them with travel documents, a fact that classifies this organization as an organization practicing modern slavery. MEK does not allow its members to watch TV, have phones, use the Internet, talk to their families, marry, have sex, have a baby, talk to friends, and live a free and civil life. The Mojahedin, a term in the Arabic-language, is jihadist, indoctrinated to fight and die in the war against Iran, to place Massoud and Maryam Rajavi as Iran’s supreme dictators. MEK is a terrorist organization which has killed many citizens in Iran and Iraq. MEK does not believe in democracy but in establishing a totalitarian order similar to that of Pol Pot or the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia.

Even you accept in your interview that the MEK in the Manzes paramilitary camp indoctrinates its soldiers with the idea of jihad against Iran. These facts, which go against Albanian law, and articles 231 and 265 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Albania, are classified as acts, invitations and incitement to terrorism, which are punishable in Albania. The whole activity of this organization with its military laws and totalitarian rules in contradiction with Albanian laws, makes this an anti-constitutional and reprehensible organization under Albanian laws and the international conventions that Albania is party to. But as you acknowledge in your interview, the MEK today, like Al-Qaida and the Taliban, is backed by US officials and therefore they are not persecuted under the law.

Mr Koplik,

Mojahedin witnesses inside the Manza camp have informed me that my daughter’s interview with you was made under pressure from the Mojahedin commanders, who do not allow my daughter to leave the camp in any way and meet with us, her parents. The Mojahedin command is afraid that if our daughter meets with us and is allowed to leave the camp where she is held hostage, she will abandon jihad and join her family in Canada. Somayeh’s friends who have left MEK and have now reached Germany, Greece and the US tell us that Somayeh is desperate and would join her family. But the Mojahedin commanders frighten her, they tell her that if she leaves the camp Iranian agents will kill her, and that her father is an agent of the Iranian Intelligence Ministry and that I’ll take her as a slave for Tehran’s mullahs.

The MEK, without any facts, slanders and publicly accuses me and my family and my supporters, but even if their accusations were true, these do not deprive us of the right to parent [our daughter]. MEK has launched a demonizing campaign against me, Albanian and foreign journalists, various advocates and analysts who support me. I believe you have also seen how Mojahed Humayun Deyim and seven other Mojahedin beat me up in Tirana on July 27, 2018 and then how 50 Mojahedin under the leadership of the commanders Behzad Saffari, Jila Deyhim and Ahmad Taba surrounded police station no. 4 in Tirana, putting pressure on our police and attorneys to free the jihadi fighters.

You can see from their actions that the Mojahedin do not understand and disagrees with freedom of the media, freedom of the individual, democracy, free speech, and the rule of democracy and law. They say you are with us or with Iran. They say you must do jihad with us, or you are with the mullahs of Tehran. They do not accept a world free and without war.

However, we are the parents of Somayeh who are in Tirana, and in these weeks we have faced slander as Iranian agents, beatings by Mojahedin and threats of all sorts, we ask you to honor us. Please ask for the Mojahedin leaders to let our daughter leave freely. We want to get our daughter out of the Manzas jihad camp where the Mojahedin live as modern slaves or prisoners who are waiting for the moment when Maryam Rajavi orders them to march and do jihad in Iran.

We do not want our daughter to go to jihad in Iran and be sacrificed for Maryam Rajavi, who wants to forcibly overthrow the Iranian government, because we believe in democracy, peace, and we do not accept war, violence, and jihad. Participating in jihadist conflicts is a crime in both Albania and Canada. We do not want our daughter to be involved in a terrorist organization, we want her to be a law-abiding citizen. We want our daughter to be released from prison where she is held by the Mojahedin. Initially, we want her to come to Tirana and meet with us without the presence and threats of the Mojahedin commanders. Then, if she wants, we want her to live freely in Albania, to marry, have a family, to work, to abandon jihadi activities, and live as a free citizen. But if she wants to join our family in Canada, we will take her with pleasure to our country. We want to encourage our daughter to leave as soon as possible the Mojahedin terrorist organization and the military camp where she has been held hostage for 21 years.

We will not stop our daughter at any time from doing political activity. If she thinks with her own free will that she supports the MEK, we will not stop her. But what we want is for you to communicate to the Mojahedin command to allow us to meet our daughter. Just as you would never accept that MEK kidnap your daughter and rape your boy, you should understand that this is our view too.

For this reason, we ask you publicly to use the access you have to the Mojahedin terrorist organization and help us meet our daughter. Our daughter does not need humanitarian accommodation in Albania as her family homeland Canada is a safe country. So, she has no reason to stay locked inside the Mojahedin’s Manzas jail to await the day when Maryam Rajavi dispatches her to do jihad against Iran.

Please help us.

Somayeh’s parents,

After Interior Minister Fatmir Xhafaj, Iranian Mostafa Mohammadi has also written to Prime Minister Rama, saying he wants his daughter released. According to him, she is held hostage by Mojahedin at the Manza camp in Durrës

shqiptarja.com and Report TV ‘s editorial board have secured another exclusive letter sent by the Iranian father of 38-year-old Somayeh Mohammadi, Mostafa Mohammadi, to the highest state office. After Interior Minister Fatmir Xhafaj, Mohammadi has also written to Prime Minister Rama, saying he wants his daughter released. The letter is addressed Mr. Agron Soyat, the prime minister’s adviser on anti-terrorism.

Mostafa says he is a Canadian citizen and that the MEK organization in Manzas of Durres has held his daughter hostage for 21 years. He even says he was assaulted by members of this organization on July 27, 2018. According to him, about 50 mujahideen that same day surrounded the police station no. 4, as well as terrorizing lawyers and police in the region and calling him and his wife terrorists.

“I believe you have seen in the media how the Mojahedin beat me on July 27, 2018 near the madrasa in Tirana. Mojahed Humayun Deyhim, a person who has committed crimes in Iraq, stopped me on the street and together with 7 other Mojahedin, pushed me, struck me and then called me a terrorist, and as a result of this assault I ended up in the hospital. Then when we went to police station No. 4, the Mojahedin commanders, consisting Behzad Saffari, Jila Deyhim and Ahmad Taba (persons who committed crimes in Iraq) with around 50 Mojahedin surrounded police station No. 4 and terrorized lawyers and police in the region and called us terrorists”, he says.

The Iranian also mentions the case of British Channel 4 journalists headed by Mrs Lindsey Hilsum who says she has interviewed him about this issue.

“In a few days they labelled as Iranian agents two journalists, one from the British newspaper The Guardian, who were not given access inside their camp to see Somayeh. The violent behavior of the Mojahedin against journalists and the parents of the persons they hold hostage in their organization not new. They firebombed the Mansur hotel in Baghdad, Iraq, in 2006, when I wanted to meet my daughter and have sent a killer to kill me. I am alive thanks to US Marines who rescued me in Iraq. These facts are shown in the documentary I produced for my daughter which is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjYLhpB9Xyg, “he explains in the letter

The Girl’s Denunciation

On the other hand, a short time ago his daughter Ms. Sommyeh Mohammadi, personally went to Manza police station to file a lawsuit against him. Earlier, Somayeh wrote a letter to the Interior Minister of Albania, in which she explains that her father is in this country with a mission on behalf of the Iranian Intelligence Ministry.

An Iranian father and daughter have traded accusations against each other over Iranian opposition group Mujahedin-e-Khalq, MEK, whom Albania has offered accommodation under a deal with the United States but whose members official Iran has banned as terrorist group.

Mostafa Mohammedi, a Canada-based Iranian citizen, claims his 38-year-old daughter is being held hostage by MEK, the “Peoples’ Mujahedin of Iran,” but his daughter denies claims and has filed a lawsuit against him.

Somayeh Mohammadi is one of the 3,000 mujahedeen who have been accommodated in a camp outside Durres, Albania’s second largest city, as part of United States efforts to find them new homes outside of Iraq where they were stationed at a U.S-backed camp until late 2016.

While in Albania seeking to meet his daughter whom he hasn’t seen in more than a decade, Mostafa Mohammedi is asking Albanian authorities to free his 38-year old daughter from MEK, which he says is holding her hostage.

His daughter has responded undertaking legal action against him over alleged persecution, accusing her father as an undercover agent of the Iranian regime and says that she joined and is staying with MEK of her own free will for two decades now.

Mostafa, who holds Canadian citizenship, says he moved to Canada in 1994 to seek political asylum. The Iranian father claims MEK ‘kidnapped’ his daughter from Canada in 1997 when she was only 17, convincing him to allow her for a two-week trip to Iraq, but never came back. He says he hasn’t met her since 2005.

“We believe and we have testimony from former mujahedeen who have left the extremist organization and live in Tirana that our daughter lives under conditions of torture and inhuman treatment by the MEK jihadists,” says the Iranian-Canadian in his letter to Albanian Interior Minister Fatmir Xhafaj.

His appeal to the Albanian authorities is “think with your heart and understand the pain that a mother and father suffer when they see their daughter being held hostage by a violent and extremist group.”

The Iranian father says he has filed a lawsuit with Albanian authorities over alleged MEK kidnapping but his daughter has responded by initiating legal action over alleged persecution.

‘Father is undercover agent,’ daughter claims

In a letter published on Albanian media, Somayeh Mohammadi claims her father is a undercover agent of the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence and Security and that the real reason he is in Albania is to undertake undercover operations against MEK, which the Iranian government considers a terrorist organization for about four decades now.

Somayeh says she voluntarily left Canada in 1998 like many Iranians to join MEK seeking freedom and democracy for Iran.

She claims her father surprisingly told Canadian media she was being held hostage by MEK after meeting her at the Ashraf camp in Iraq in 2002, 2003 and 2004. “He created online propaganda blogs allegedly belonging to me and put other pressure to force me to surrender and collaborate with the Iranian authorities,” she says in her letter to Albanian authorities.

Somayeh says she has published her whole story in a book available in Persian and English unveiling efforts by Mostafa Mohammedi to abuse her, and claims that her father had a role as an undercover Iranian agent in the Ashraf and Liberty camp killings in Iraq.

“The presence of Mostafa Mohammad in Albania is very troubling for me. I am not concerned about myself, but the security of my friends in Albania. His presence shows that the Iranian regime is seeking to engage in other heinous plotting against us in Albania,” she says in her letter to the Albanian Interior Minister, asking him to ban her father from staying in Albania.

In another interview with local Albanian media, the Iranian-Canadian father claims that the letter signed by his daughter and published on Albanian media was written by Mujahedeen leaders who don’t want her to joint her family.

“I am not an Iranian agent. I am a Canadian citizen and parent who wants to free his daughter from the kidnapping of the Iranian jihadist group,” he says.

MEK in Albania

Albania’s decision to accommodate 3,000 MEK members in the past few years has angered official Tehran who has banned them from Iran since 1981.

Mujahedin e Khalq members are opponents of Iran’s regime. Following the Islamic revolution of 1979, MEK supported Saddam Hussein in the 1980s war between Iraq and Iran.

MEK had been on the list of terrorist organizations for several years by the United States until it was finally removed from the list in 2012 after the dissident group supported the U.S in military operations in the Middle East and in its fight against terrorism.

Relations between Albania and Iran date back to the 19th and 20th century when several Albanian Renaissance poets where inspired by Persian culture and Bektashism, an ultra-liberal mystical Muslim sect with roots in Sufism and Shia Islam that is also present in Albania, to promote Albanian independence.

Iran is represented in Albania with its own embassy while the Saadi Shirazi cultural foundation has been present in Albania since the early 1990s promoting ties between Albania and Iran.

They demand that the Albanian government allow them to meet their daughter, Somaye Mohammadi, who has been kidnapped by the terrorist organization of the Mujahideen of Iran since she was 15 years old. The Iranian Mujahideen, who are sheltered in Albania by the Albanian government and the Americans, refuse to allow Mustafa and Mahbube to meet their daughter. They have taken Somaye since she was 15, and she did high school at the Toronto Collegiate Institute. Once radicalized, the jihadists left school, without marrying, without family, and held them as suicide bombers in their base in Albania. They do not let Somaye to meet with her parents….

Editorial

TIRANA – The saga continues of the Iranian couple seeking to meet their daughter who is a member of the Mojahedin (MEK) who are housed in Albania. A few days ago, Somayeh accused her father of being an Iranian agent, and through a letter asked Minister Xhafaj to expel him from Albania as he posed a danger.

Mostafa Mohammadi, the father of the Iranian, says his daughter is being held against her will inside the Mojahedin camp in Manez, and he has lodged a complaint with the police in the city. A TV report today provided the full denunciation by the 62-year-old who says that his daughter was held in Iraq by force in the MEK organization.

Mohammadi also reveals that MEK has also held his son at Camp Ashraf in Iraq, where members of the Iranian opposition against the Iranian regime were housed. Faced with the situation where the daughter accuses her father of being an Iranian agent, today her mother, Mahboubeh (Robabe) Hamza, has written a letter asking her to agree to meet with her mother rather than her father that she accuses.

Part of Somayeh’s mother’s letter:

O you crazy radicals! You MEK have imprisoned my daughter, radicalized her and pushed her toward violent extremism, made her deny her parents, because it is not logical that a normal person who has not seen their parents for 20 years would not want to at least meet with them, telling themselves that ‘I do not want to get out of this notorious camp, I do not want to live freely in Canada, but I want to do jihad against Iran for Maryam Rajavi’…

You MEK took my boy when he was 15 and I saved him when he was 20 years old. You made my son mad and for two years he was treated by a psychiatrist in Canada because you had made him crazy and you terrorized him…

However, now I publicly invite you to meet me. If you really believe that your father is an Iranian agent – even though you’ve been isolated for 20 years and don’t know where your father has been and what your father has been doing in these 20 years – can’t we meet together?…

Let’s have dinner together so I can see you with my own eyes and kiss you, then let the MEK die from that. If you can’t leave the camp, there is still a chance! Get a phone and dial the number 112 and call the police to come and save you! Come and meet me daughter. For the sake of your mother… Be brave and come out of the MEK camp. There are no Iranian agents in Tirana who want to kill you. The Albanians are good people. They stop me daily in the street and tell us they are sorry for us and how they want you to be free. Prophet Mohammad says that Paradise is under the feet of the mother. Will you leave the MEK’s devils to meet me?

The full letter of the mother of Somayeh to MEK and her daughter

MEK Organization!

I, Mahboubeh (Robabe) Hamza, mother of Somayeh, am writing this letter. I am publishing this letter publicly to ask you to let my daughter go free. You know that we are in Albania and not in Saddam Hussein’s Iraq! Albania is a free European country, where issues are settled by law, not bullets, violence and war like in Saddam’s Iraq! Here you all have taken refuge on humanitarian grounds and are asylum seekers, you are not a paramilitary organization to treat your members as soldiers!

Please, stop!

Stop, writing letters in our daughter’s name!

Enough! Your constant accusation that we are Iranian agents, conspirators, and so on, is unjust since we have no such purpose, except to unite the family unfairly broken by you in 1997!

Enough that you use your agents to access any state office in Albania to prevent me, Somayeh’s mother, from meeting my daughter!

Your agents and subordinates attack us in every corner of Tirana with terror charges and physical attacks only because I want to see my daughter. You are burning because of that!

What did you do to my daughter you crazy radicals?

Why are you threatening my daughter you will kill her parents? Witnesses from your Manza camp, people who have abandoned your jihad and live in Tirana, tell us that you are mistreating my daughter. You are pressurising her to accuse us, her family, as agents. I met my daughter in Iraq in 2004 when the US Marines gave me permission to do so, and she was desperate and wanted to flee from that damned war and from the military organization that mistreated and continues to mistreat its members in front of her eyes all over the world. She was trembling with fear and I her mother embraced her constantly to calm her down. My daughter wrote more letters to me through the US Marines asking for help from your organization that only wants fighting, jihad and blood.

O you crazy radicals! You MEK have imprisoned my daughter, radicalized her and pushed her toward violent extremism, made her deny her parents, because it is not logical that a normal person who has not seen their parents for 20 years would not want to at least meet with them, telling themselves that ‘I do not want to get out of this notorious camp, I do not want to live freely in Canada, but I want to do jihad against Iran for Maryam Rajavi’.

Why do you isolate my daughter so that no one can meet her, neither we as her parents, nor our lawyers, journalists, or the Albanian public who are interested in knowing what kind of criminals you are for destroying a family, who keep our daughter hostage and want to make her a suicide bomber in Iran or Iraq? Frankly, why did you radicalize my daughter – at least in the letters you write – talking only about agents, fighters, killers, Iran, mullahs etc? Are you so crazy? Did Massoud Rajavi’s command not to marry, not to know love, become so bad that you dream only of war and blood?

You took my boy when he was 15 and I saved him when he was 20 years old. You made my son mad and for two years he was treated by a psychiatrist in Canada because you had made him crazy and you terrorized him. Now he has a family, has an education, has a profession in Canada. Yes, and now my daughter. Why can’t she come to Canada to be with her family? Why do you radicalize my daughter and keep her hostage in your camp while your leader Maryam Rajavi and her family live as royalty in Paris? Why can’t I have my daughter free in Toronto like Maryam Rajavi in Paris? Why do Maryam Rajavi and her family live in luxury, while my daughter lives in the prison camp in Manez, in Durrës? If my daughter really wants to do jihad against Iran, why not allow her at least to live freely in Tirana? How much anger do you have?

Who are you to deprive our daughter of this right? Why do you destroy our family and why do you not let our daughter have a family and a normal life like everyone else? Here we are in Albania and not in Iraq. Why are you pushing my daughter to carry out political and terrorist activities against a foreign state? My daughter is not related to Iran! Her homeland is Canada. Why do you not allow her to pursue the Canadian dream but want to lead her as a jihadist to make war on Iran? Why doesn’t Maryam Rajavi go to Jihad in Iran, but she will send my daughter?

We and the rest of her family left Iran for political asylum and we have a very good life in Canada. We do not care about what’s going on with politics anywhere. Every effort we have made to save our daughter is our legitimate right. You, MEK, unjustly denied us the right to parent her when my daughter was 17 years old. You have left my daughter without an education, without a Canadian passport, without a family, no children, no grandchildren, no life with all her friends. You do not let my daughter marry, have a friend or a life like all women, dress in beautiful clothes like her friends, but keep her dressed in military uniform all day long. Keep her isolated in your infamous prison in Manzas.

You have left my daughter without access to the internet, without TV, without education and without reading because you are all in a prison in a free country like Albania. Don’t you feel bad about what you do to our daughter, that you kidnapped our child? Do you realize that Allah will condemn this for ever and a day, even if your masters protect you from the law? Let other families understand what life is like when you have the slogan: “Families are agents of the Iranian regime,” which you say in the group a few times a day as a form of obedience to your organization.

From her friends who have left your group, I learned today how you threaten my daughter if she doesn’t do what you ask for. You do not let her leave the camp, make a free life, but keep her there as a prisoner inside walls guarded by armed guards in the middle of a European country. Why do you do this? Why do not you let her out of the camp? Why can’t I, her mother, meet my daughter oh criminals and murderers? Why do you put politics in between us when parenting is the legitimate right of anyone and nobody can deny it to anyone?

Somayeh! My daughter! The light of my eyes! Owner of my life!

Now I’m writing to you, since I have no other way to communicate with you, although I know that MEK may not even tell you about this letter. But I’m making it public and bringing it to the media so that maybe someone finds it and passes it on to you!

My heart Somayeh,

I am your mother Mahboubeh Robabe Hamza and I want to meet with you. I am the woman who fed you at my breast, I held you in the crook of my arm. You are my flesh and blood.

I have come to Albania. I’m in Tirana, a few miles from you and I want to see you. I want to kiss you. To hold you. I want to have you near. I love you more than my life. I want you to be happy, to be good, to enjoy life, to be with your family, sisters and brothers, to share with the moments of our lives. We have never quit asking for you and are never going to stop, not without seeing you. I’m getting old, I am getting tired, but life is not worth living without seeing you.

I know the letters you wrote against your dad were not written by you, but your jihadist commanders frightened you with threats of “agents”, “the Ministry of Intelligence”, “the Iranian regime”, “mullahs”, and so on. I know, my daughter, that you’re scared and that you do not understand what’s going on because you have not seen daylight with your own eyes outside the MEK military camp for 20 years. I know that the jihadist commanders every day punish you with their fairy tales.

However, now I publicly invite you to meet me.

If you really believe that your father is an Iranian agent – even though you’ve been isolated for 20 years and don’t know where your father has been and what your father has been doing in these 20 years – can’t we meet together?

I am not an Iranian agent and I do not even know about politics. What do you say? Let’s leave your dad on the sidelines, and Iran and Maryam Rajavi and fighting and the whole world, and just meet as mother and daughter? What do you say?

You are well aware how as your mother, who raised you with sacrifices, it plagued my heart when I saw you trembling with fear in Iraq, how I feared that your organization would kill you because you met with us, your parents.

I do not believe the accusations against your father are in your name. I do not believe you are the one who writes them, but those pseudo-letters scary charges are made against your father. The group that prevents us from meeting you attacked your father two days ago. Did they tell you? The Mojahedin beat him!

After the attack, in the middle of the day, in the middle of Tirana, your father and I ended up in the hospital and then in the police station. While we were in the police station [giving evidential statements of complaint], the Mojahedin, under the orders of Commander Behzad Saffari, attacked police station number 4 and called us terrorists and demanded the police imprison us. Do you know about this?

And the day after the attack they sent a second letter to the media in your name.

My daughter, let’s assume you do not love your dad since he’s a bastard, an agent, a murderer, etc. the slanders that staged letter. However, let’s not disown him! (Inshallah MEK does not kill us!)

Yes, your mother, will you not meet with her? I came from Canada for you and left off earning money to see you. Well, from Canada, Morteza and Mohammed ask night and day about you. I miss and love you and want to play with you as we did when you were young. Your friends from the Etobicoke Collegiate Institute are also wondering about you and wanting to meet you. What do you say, will you leave the MEK to meet me and speak on the phone with your brothers in Canada?

Please, if you are the one who wrote those letters and if the MEK would allow you to leave the camp freely, without the supervision of that dreadful commander Behzad Saffari, come and meet me. I live near the parliament in Tirana. The Albanian police will protect us! There will be no Iranian agents to kill you because there are no killers in the country because Albanian police guard us because there is peace and security here!

Let’s have dinner together so I can see you with my own eyes and kiss you, then let the MEK die from that. If they do not allow you out of the camp, there is another opportunity! Get a phone and dial the number 112 and call the police to come and save you!

Come and meet me daughter. For the sake of your mother, be brave and come out of the MEK camp.

May Allah Keep you Daughter!

Your mother in flesh and blood,

Mahboubeh (Robabe) Hamza

rightThe struggles of the parents of Somayeh Mohammedi to free their daughter, and the public beating some Mojahedin members made against her parents have frightened the Mojahedin who are housed in Camp Ashraf 3 in Manza in Durres.

Maryam Rajavi, the old cult leader living in Paris, has sent a message on behalf of the mystical cult leader, Massoud Rajavi (who died long ago, but the Mojahedin members are misled into believing he is still alive) to the Mojahedin members. In this false message, the Mojahedin, who believe that Massoud Rajavi is the Imam Mahdi, have been commanded not to leave the camp except in urgent cases. The Mojahedin are reminded that they will win the war against Iran and overthrow the mullahs quickly.

Mojahedin commanders tell the members that they face the threat of Iranian terrorism and kidnapping if they emerge from the organization. There are full provisions inside Manza camp so that there is no excuse to go outside the camp and the Mojahedin are no longer allowed out.

The Mojahedin leadership is exercising a reign of terror against members who have secretly plugged-in phones or tablets in the camp and communicate with their families. Mojahedin members’ use of phones is strictly controlled and if someone is caught using a phone they are punished severely. If someone gets caught talking on the phone or using the Internet, they are forced to sign a document stating that the member admits to being an Iranian agent and working for the Iranian Intelligence Ministry.

The camp commanders have issued orders that anyone who, in exceptional circumstances, leaves Manza camp must be strictly controlled. Women or men who go outdoors are searched for items [photos, documents] when they leave and strip-searched when they return to the camp to check for phones or bugging devices.

The Mojahedin High Command has been fully mobilized to prevent Somayeh Mohammadi from meeting her parents. They spend all their time with Somayeh, congratulating her privately and praising her publicly in front of the Mojahedin members for rejecting her family – who are described as a family of Iranian agents. The Mojahedin members are required to cheer and praise Somayeh as a hero of the revolution and martyrdom and jihad.

Somayeh is praised as a hero who is making great sacrifices for jihad and is refusing to be seduced by Iranian agents. The jihadist command have set Somayeh up with management duties at the General Mojahedin Headquarters, in Mozhgan Parsaii’s office, in order to motivate her and make her believe she is an important jihad leader. She no longer eats meals with the other camp rank and file but is given special treatment and has lunches and dinners with the supreme command.

The Mojahedin’s comanders hold meetings every day for the rank and file members in which they denounce and condemn the presence of enemies of the revolution, Mostafa Mohammadi and Mahboubeh Hamza, Somayehs’s father and mother, in Albania. All the members are required to condemn the presence of the two parents, who are described as mullahs and terrorists. The Mojahedin tell each other that Somayeh’s mother and father have come to commit terrorist acts against them and that they are not in Albania to meet with Somayeh.

In this situation, Somayeh is confused. She is suffering from depression and mental problems. She is kept isolated from her close friends. High ranking Mojahedin have asked her to make a video recording and denounce her father and mother as Iranian agents. Yesterday, on 30 July 2018 she was finally persuaded to attend at the police station in the district in Durres, accompanied by a group of Mojahedin, where she told the police officer that her father is an enemy, a terrorist and she will not meet with him.

While making her statement to the judicial police officer at the district police commissariat, Somayeh was accompanied by a Mojahedin commander who supervised and recorded her so that Somayeh would not go wrong and say ‘yes, I want to meet my family’, and not to escape from the police commissariat.
On 30th July 2018, Somayeh’s father and mother were contacted in Tirana by a LSI activist who offered help to mediate for the family in order to meet Somayeh. However, when she contacted the staff at the Interior Ministry, they told her that this was not possible.

Prime Minister Rama is frightened by the physical assault that the Mojahedin made against Somayeh’s father. Rama has built a reputation for Interior Minister Fatmir Xhafa and has asked the police to prevent MEK and anti-MEK from having any further incidents with each other.

The Rama government is afraid of the whole situation with the Mojahedin. As is Pandeli Majko, who is embarrassed by the exposure of the terrible terrorist cult that he supports. On one hand, the Albanian government is determined not to intervene to liberate Somayeh from the jihadist prison because it is afraid of the Americans. Sander Lleshi, Agron Sojati, and the anti-violent extremism office close to the Prime Minister seem unable to see all the jihadist scandal that has plagued the country. On the other hand, support for Somayeh’s family in public opinion has created another embarrassment for the government. Unfortunately, the Democratic Party and its leaders, who are following the situation from afar, are afraid to attack Rama’s government for abandoning Somayeh in the jihadist camp as they know that it would infuriate the Americans.

The situation seems desperate. In the days ahead, the Mojahedin may persuade Somayeh to appear in a video recording in which she will denounce her father and mother as terrorists and agents of the Iranian regime. The Mojahedin High Command is doing its utmost to stop Somayeh from meeting with her family as they fear that if this meeting does happen, Somayeh would abandon jihad and leave their Manzas jihadist prison for freedom and for Canada.
