Dear Minister,

On November the 25th the listing of the Iranian “Mojahedin-e Khalq” organization (MKO/MEK), aka “People´s Mojahedin Organization of Iran” (PMOI) with its political wing, the “National Council of Resistance of Iran” (NCRI) and its military wing, the “National Liberation Army” (NLA) on the Consolidated List has to be extended.

Since years, the MKO tries to appear as a democratic exile-opposition, calling themselves “the Iranian resistance”. They spent a lot of money to acquire support from international former political and military officials and launched a huge public-relations-campaign to present themselves as the “only alternative to the Iranian regime”.

But we as MKO-dropouts, critics and relatives of MKO-members daily suffering the ideology and practices of this Cult know better:

Behind the wall, the MKO is a cultish organization with no support among the most Iranians (exiles as well as those living in Iran). The majority of the Iranians despise the MKO for their alliance with Saddam Hussein in the 80s and for their position against the nuclear program (by most of the Iranian population the program is seen as a legitimate right). At least there is the occult and even messianic image, which has been arranged to Maryam Rajavi “President-elect” and “Sun of the Revolution” and the cultish structure of the organization, which raises questions of democracy within the organization itself because Maryam Rajavi remainedthe President of the organization since her “election” in 1993 without any sign of political pluralism.

Daniel Benjamin, the former U.S. State Department’s counterterror coordinator, told the FP-Website 2015: “Being delisted as a Foreign Terrorist Organization — a decision I took part in — doesn’t mean that this group … has suddenly … become trustworthy or worthy of engagement.”[2], beat up critical demonstrators in Saint-Michel in 2012[4].

As well as in physical violence, the MKO is well trained in psychological warfare:

They strictly separate their Members form families and friends. The members do not have any contact to their relatives. Former members and critics are denounced as “agents of the Iranian intelligence” in general. The MKO fights to silence every critical voice. Therefore they already crashed several homepages from former members and critics with cyber-attacks.

But the MKO members also do not flinch from using violence against themselves:

A lot of MKO-members took part in a large number of hunger strikes in the last years (also in Australia) and so revealed servile obedience to their leader, Maryam Rajavi. You may not forget the self-illumination-protest by MKO-members after the French police raid the MKO headquarter in Paris in 2003.

In the last years the MKO tried everything to play a role in the Middle East:

First they were fighting to stay in Camp Ashraf at all costs. But when they had to accept that this fight is not to win, they changed their focus to bring the members to Albania and find some allies in the Region. So Maryam Rajavi met with members of the Syrian Revolution, she swarms over the Saudis and lately she met with Palestine President Abbas. So it is no surprise, when several dropouts, escaping from Camp Liberty, tell the MKO has even close ties to ISIS ensuring the MKO can stay in the region.

We as MKO-dropouts, critics and relatives of MKO-members suffering this Cult, urge you to carefully consider the upcoming decision to extend the MKO-listing, or not.

We are members of the Iranpour family. We are an ordinary middle class family living in Shiraz in Iran.

We would like to bring to your attention that two of our brothers Mr Ahmadreza Iranpour and Mr Mohammadreza Iranpour left our country at the end of 2002 and went to Turkey. They were intending to go to Europe to build a better future for themselves. In Turkey however they were spotted by the Mojahedin Khalq smugglers and fell into their trap. These smugglers falsely promised to get them residency in Germany but instead took them to Iraq. They then sold them to the Mojahedin Khalq Organisation (MKO) as slaves. We were unaware of their whereabouts until 2003 when someone who had managed to run away from Camp Ashraf (Mojahedin Khalq terror camp given to them by Saddam Hussain) found out that our children are being kept captive at this place. From that day until now we have travelled to Iraq over 10 times hoping to see our captive family members. But this notorious terrorist violent group did not let us even have a simple visit with our loved ones. It is now clear that this organisation has changed deeply and is now a classic cult which does not allow the people trapped inside to have any contact with the outside world.

Our brothers Ahmadreza and Mohammadreza are no exception and are currently kept as slaves, in the dark, with no access to the outside world or access to the media or even their immediate family.  That is why they do not let us or other family members have access to their children. We are not the only ones, many others have been taken by the MKO and now have no way out.

We would also like to add that this terrorist cult has been engaged in many terror and suicide operations in our country Iran. They are responsible for the death of tens of thousands of civilian people. We have witnessed their brutality in our city, Shiraz, first hand. There was a man living in our area who had a shop making frames. He did not have any position or relation with the government but they assassinated him simply because he was religious and looked religious. We have also witnessed the burning of busses by the Mojahedin Khalq operatives in our city in which women and children were burned to death. The father of one of our friends had a shop. He too was killed simply because he was a religious man. There are more examples within the area where we live in Shiraz and you can find information and statistics about many similar atrocities simply searching the internet.

We are one of the families who have two children taken away from us who are currently captive in the hands of this notorious cult. Our knowledge of this cult comes from first-hand experience. We would like to inform your good self about the truth after which the judgment will be yours.

With the hope for the freedom of all the trapped people in this violent cult and hope for peace and friendship.

A speaker of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs told in June 27th 2014:

“France has no contact with the “People’s Mujahedin Organization of Iran” which is known for its use of violence. It has no legal existence in France as an organization. Its violent and undemocratic Ideology has been exposed by several human rights organizations, such as Amnesty International who have reported on the organization’s cultic practices and its refusal to formally renounce violence. We also warn about the intense campaign of disinformation and influence it leads”.[2], includes armed attacks and assassinations against Iranian Government personnel and property, murdering of US military and civilians and the simultaneous attacks on Iranian embassies worldwide, including Australia. With regard to this and in the light of the MKO-activities in the last years, the MKO seems not to have renounced violence seriously.

As an organization of MKO-dropouts we are well connected to the latest dropouts coming directly from Camp Liberty.

We would like to meet you or the responsible official in the embassy in Berlin or in the consulate general in Frankfurt to inform you about the latest new from inside the MKO, especially about the ties between the MKO and ISIS.

This could be interesting regarding the Listing of the MKO and the upcoming decision to extend the MKO-listing, or not.

The consolidated list of Australia is a list of all persons and entities who are subject to targeted financial sanctions or travel bans under Australian sanctions laws.

The list includes the MKO and its affiliates such as National Liberation Army (NLA) and National Council of Resistance (NCR). The list won’t be reviewed until 2016.

The MKO was on the list of the proscribed terrorist groups of the US and the EU but its multi–million dollar lobbying campaign succeed to delist the group.

As the Australian government took this proper action to maintain the MKO on its consolidated list, it is expected that other Western states follow the same pattern.

The presence of the cut-like MKO  – with its violent background – in the West makes western citizens concerned over its cult-like attitudes such as self- immolations the group members committed in European Capitals following the arrest of their leader Maryam Rajavi by the French Police in June 2003.

National Security Advisor Mowaffaq al-Rubaie has initiated efforts to persuade the Australian government to accommodate members of the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO), al-Bayyina al-jadida daily reported.

Baghdad has been seeking the expulsion or relocation of MKO, as it holds the group responsible for attempting to destabilize the country by carrying out terror attacks.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said in a recorded interview with al-Araqiya released on Wednesday that the MKO members had to leave Iraq, reiterating a pledge by the government to force the group out of the Iraqi soil.

“We have informed this terrorist organization that Iraq can be no place for you… Search for another place,”he said.

The Iraqi government has vowed to shut down the MKO’s training headquarters, Camp Ashraf, in Iraq and to expel the members of the group to their country Iran or send them to a third country.

Iran has long called for the expulsion of MKO members from Iraq. Tehran says the members of the group who have not participated in the organization’s terrorist activities are allowed to return home but others have to stand trial in Iran or outside the country.

Several members of the group have now defected from the organization and returned to Iran.

Iraqi sources said in February that certain countries were considering allowing the terrorist group to remain in the Middle East. Egypt, they said, has agreed with a request by MKO leaders to establish a camp in the country.

The MKO, blacklisted as a terrorist organization by many international entities and countries including the US, is responsible for numerous acts of violence against Iranian civilians and government officials as well as Iraqi people at the time of former dictator Saddam Hussein.

Mujahideen-e Khalq, led by Massoud and Maryam Rajavi, has a totalitarian iron structure and acts all over the world.

Despite suppressive strategies of the Islamic Republic of Iran in 80s, MKO was active in Iran and inflicted damages to governmental institutions (especially security organizations) through terrorist activities. Out of Iran, MKO’s activities are focused on political propaganda and fundraising.

MKO supporters and sympathizers are also in Austria but they lack an organized structure. MKO’s body of activists in Austria is considered as a division from MKO’s headquarters in Germany.

MKO and its front organization, National Council of Resistance, as well as its military wing, National Liberation Army, are all on EU’s terror list.

Prediction: MKO would try to reorganize its structure in Europe, change its appearance as a terrorist organization and strengthen its political position in Europe. It’s difficult to have another prediction because MKO’s developments and their process depend on political events in Islamic Republic. In Austria, an organization of MKO is not likely.
