The French police have reportedly banned the chieftain of the notorious anti-Iran Mojahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO) terrorist group from leaving the country after discovering evidence of criminal acts at her residence.

After attacking the bases of Mojahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO) in Paris and acquiring evidence of money laundering, espionage equipment, weapons and illegitimate individuals, the French police issued an exit ban on the 70-year-old chieftain of terrorist group Maryam Rajavi as the investigation on her case continues.

On June 12, the French police attacked one of the MKO bases in Paris, discovering illegal weapons, while 3 members of the group were also detained.

Maryam Rajavi, the chieftain of the terrorist group, who is currently in a serious physical condition and her medical team has given up hope of her recovery, was banned from leaving and entering by the Albanian police last year.

An intervention during an attempted fire last year seemed to indicate that around fifteen people lived there. Border police found three people who are prohibited from being on French territory.

A major control operation took place this Wednesday within the Sima association, whose premises are located in the Vert Galant activity zone in Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône. This building, which was the target of gunfire on May 31, 2023, was also targeted by an attempted fire just a year ago, on the night of June 10 to 11, 2023. Following this disaster, emergency services discovered that around fifteen people appeared to be sleeping there.

The Urssaf services therefore wanted to check, this Wednesday, whether these premises did not house hidden work. The Val-d’Oise firefighters were also called upon to verify that the rules regarding establishments open to the public were being respected. Finally, the border police (PAF) came to control the administrative situation of foreign people there, with the assistance of the Cergy police station

Out of 51 people checked, the Interdepartmental Directorate of the National Police of Val-d’Oise (DIPN 95) identified two men and a woman who were prohibited from remaining in the national territory. These three people were arrested and placed in administrative detention by the PAF. The firefighters noted several breaches of safety and fire prevention rules,

The Sima association is linked to the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI). These are opponents of the Iranian regime, the main component of which is the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI). This association notably runs the Simay Azadi satellite television channel, one of the main communication organs of the PMOI and the NCRI. It is responsible for “producing videos and films concerning human rights in Iran”. “The staff of this association is made up of volunteers,” says Afshin Alavi, communications manager for the NCRI. Most of these volunteers are citizens or political refugees in France, some have come from European countries that are members of the Schengen agreement and assist this center. »notably a lack of fire extinguishers. The Urssaf investigation is still ongoing.

As one of the largest communities of terror victims in the world which has strongly felt the bitter taste of terrorism for over four decades, The Families of Iranian Victims of Terrorism has always warned governments and international bodies against neglecting terrorism or appeasing it.

According to international reports, the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK) terrorist group besides assassination of Iranian citizens, has been involved in various criminal activities such as kidnapping and human trafficking, treason, money laundering, fraud and cyberattacks for more than forty years.

In the latest case, presence of the Albanian police in the group’s camp in Tirana to enforce a court’s order to conduct a search was faced the violent reaction of the group members which injured a few police officers all signifying the group’s lawlessness and lack of accountability for their criminal acts. Inspection of the servers and computers of this group by the Albanian police indicated that the MEK has been responsible for cyberattacks and destruction of relations between countries.

This terrorist and law-evading group has been operating and planning its criminal and terrorist acts against the Iranian people in France for over four decades while the French government has welcomed and sheltered this group and its leader despite being fully aware of their crimes.

Instead of being prosecuted internationally on charges of terrorism against thousands of Iranian and Iraqi citizens through direct participation in Saddam’s war crime against Iran and cooperation with intelligence services in suppressing Iraqi Kurds and Turkmen in the 1990s, the terrorist group’s ringleader, Maryam Rajavi, is being constantly supported by French government and MPs. This is a shame for those who claim to establish laws and represent the French people.

The French government and legislators, who provide ample facilities for this group and allow its ringleaders to spread their hate speech against Iran on French soil, must be held accountable for all the crimes this terrorist group has committed in the past decades in Iran and Iraq and even for their criminal acts in Albania.

The 40-year-long presence of the MEK in France has brought no success for the Paris except creating a deep feeling of dissatisfaction among Iranians with this country. Our people will never forget the bitter memories of the days when the group’s terror cells, backed by the Iraqi dictator and French and US governments, assassinated Iranian citizens on the streets on a daily basis. Therefore, we rightly expect the French government and its judicial institutions to stop supporting this notorious terrorist group and damaging relations with the ancient and long-standing culture and civilization of Iran, and to prepare the ground for extradition and prosecution of this group.

The CEO of Najat Society sent a letter to the French ambassador in Iran regarding the annual gathering of the Rajavi Cult in Paris, the text of which is as follows:

To: His Excellency Nicolas Roche
Honorable Ambassador of the Republic of France in Tehran
From: Ebrahim Khodabandeh
CEO of Nejat Society in Iran

Greetings and Respect
The Nejat Society in Iran consists of the families of the members of the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MEK, MKO), who are currently living in the closed and remote camp of the organization in Albania, in complete isolation from the outside world. A number of former members of the MEK are also in this society helping families to achieve their indisputable human right, which is to communicate with their loved ones trapped in the camp of the MEK in Albania. In order to prevent Western countries from supporting this organization, this Society tries to reveal the anti-human and cultic nature of the MEK to the world. This organization violates the most basic human rights of its members and prevents them from communicating freely with the outside world, especially with friends and family.

After the decision of the respected French government to expel Maryam Rajavi and the MEK from France, hope was formed in the families that the French government is on the path of protecting national security and preventing deep and unique political and social and security damages from the MEK and has stopped supporting this terrorist cult, and therefore the dominance of this organization over its members and the violation of their rights by relying on the support of Western countries will be reduced.

But the families, to their surprise, learned that the French government once again issued a permit for the gathering of the MEK in Paris with Maryam Rajavi’s speech, and in this way, it intends to repeat its past mistakes and once again support this organization to violate the human rights of its members, who are really the main victims of this terrorist cult. In this way, the French government supports an organization that, while deceiving and kidnapping the loved ones of families and keeping them captive, does not give them any human rights and keeps them in the worst conditions. This action of the French government is in conflict with all international norms and standards of human rights, which has become the defender of an organization that has launched slavery in Europe in the 21st century. This action has no relevance to the human rights claims of the French government and its people.
In addition, the support of the French government to a terrorist cult increases the possibility of national security consequences for France, as well as undoubtedly a dark page in the political and social history of this country in the field of defending human rights and countering terrorism. The long years of experience of the families of members trapped in the Rajavi Cult indicate that holding such programs by the MEK will directly or indirectly threaten the lives and health of the loved ones of the families in a significant way.

The Nejat Society represents more than two thousand people from the families of those trapped in the isolated camp of the MEK in Albania, in addition to more than three thousand individuals who managed to escape from the organization (more than seven hundreds of them live freely inside Iran now), demanding the non-cooperation and support of the French government to the anti-human and terrorist cult of the MEK, such as refusing to issue a license to hold ceremonies and preventing the possible presence of senior officials of the said organization, especially Maryam Rajavi, in France.

In the end, in order to recall the honorable ambassador of the French government in Iran, it should be mentioned that the publication of the initial news about the gathering of the MEK in France created a wave of dissatisfaction and deep concern (caused by the repetition of past events) among the painful families of Nejat Society. Therefore, it is hoped that your clear and supportive response to the families will help greatly in alleviating their pain and managing this issue as best as possible.
Sincerely
Ebrahim Khodabandeh
CEO of Najat Society

On October 30, a volley of tweets attributed to Alexis Kohler, chief of staff of the French President Emmanuel Macron, announced that France, taking into account the “negative consequences” of the presence of the National Council of Resistance (NCRI) on the French soil, will restrict its activities in the country. On November 5, however, the Élysée Palace disowned the tweets as fake, and the Twitter handle supposedly belonging to Kohler was suspended.
The incident raises a number of questions: Who was behind these tweets? What did they seek to achieve? Why did it take almost one week to take Kohler’s fake profile down? And what does it say about the French cyber-warfare capabilities? That aside, the news itself may not necessarily be groundless.
NCRI is an umbrella for the Mujahedeen-e Khalk, or MEK, also known as MKO, and People’s Mujahedeen Organization of Iran (PMOI), an organization of Iranian dissidents in exile that seeks to overthrow the Islamic Republic. It was on the European Union list of terrorist organizations until 2009 and on the U.S. list until 2012. Its presence in France harks back to 1981. The French government granted asylum to MEK’s then-leader Massoud Rajavi, exiled from Iran after losing a bloody power struggle against Ayatollah Khomeini, his former ally and the leader of the Iranian revolution of 1979. Ever since, the MEK’s presence in France was a source of friction in relations between Paris and Tehran.
Every year the group organized rallies in the Paris suburb of Villepinte, attended by a wide array of well-known and reportedly well-paid speakers, mostly former and current officials from the United States, European and Arab states. These speakers included, among others, former U.S. national security adviser John Bolton (before he assumed that position) and former New York City mayor and personal lawyer to President Donald Trump Rudy Giuliani. Their role was to provide legitimacy to the MEK and its “president-elect” Maryam Rajavi as the alternative to the current Islamic regime in Iran.
In July 2018, just as the Iranian president Hassan Rouhani was to embark on a trip to Paris to work on saving the faltering nuclear agreement, known as Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action, or JCPOA, reports emerged about a bomb plot against the MEK gathering, allegedly hatched by the agents of Iranian intelligence. The case was never conclusively resolved. There remains some possibility that the “plot” was in reality a false flag operation concocted by the MEK and its foreign allies designed to sabotage diplomacy between the EU and Iran at a critical time. Reportedly, French intelligence has not entirely discarded the latter theory. Certainly, such a plot would only benefit those who seek to push the EU to join Trump’s “maximum pressure” campaign against Iran.
This helps explain why the French authorities did not allow the annual MEK gathering in summer of 2019, ostensibly for “security concerns.” It is likely that the real motivation behind the decision, however, was the desire of Paris to explore diplomatic opportunities in its relations with Tehran. In the race to save the nuclear agreement, French President Emmanuel Macron emerged as the most energetic of the Western leaders, engaging with both Iran and United States in pursuit of de-escalation and new negotiations. In this context, the last thing Paris needed was some incident involving MEK on French territory.
There is another reason why Paris would want to curtail MEK activities: its efforts to release two French academics currently in Iranian jails – Fariba Adelkhah and Roland Marchal. French sources point to a precedent in 1986, when the French Prime Minister Jacques Chirac struck a deal with Tehran for the release of French hostages held prisoners by the Hezbollah in Lebanon. As a price, the MEK was forced to leave France and relocated to Iraq then. Similar dynamics may be at play now.
If asked to leave, the destination for remaining MEK cadres in France would be Albania, which already hosts around 3,000 members, following the U.S. and U.N.-brokered resettlement from their former base in Iraq. A complete eviction from France would be a serious setback for the MEK. Its continued relevance was fully premised on its ability to visibly project power and connections on both sides of the Atlantic and in the Persian Gulf. Annual public rallies were a medium to build up the lobby for the group. Being forced to trade Paris for Tirana, a capital of an impoverished Balkan nation, geographically far removed from both main Western capitals and Iran itself, is a patent downgrade. To this should be added the waning fortunes of the MEK’s champions in the U.S.: Bolton was fired, Giuliani is too busy dealing with his own legal troubles to continue lobbying for the MEK, and Trump himself is fighting for political survival amid the specter of an impending impeachment.
True, the MEK is still capable of performing such stints as recent gatherings in the French Senate and the European Parliament (EP) in Strasbourg. The EP in particular is an attractive platform for the MEK, since, unlike national parliaments, it represents MPs from 28 member states. Thus, a bigger diversity of views and sensitivities is present and more outlets for MEK efforts are available. But even there, its influence is on the wane. The MEK’s success to win recruits for its cause hinged on its ability to be all things to all people: for example, women rights defenders to the left, and promoters of better relations with Israel and Saudi Arabia to the right. However, the group committed a major strategic blunder by funding Vox, the Spanish extreme right party. This led some of the MEK’s supporters on the left to sever ties. Moreover, the MEK never managed to gain any foothold in official EP bodies dealing with Iran – its foreign affairs committee and its delegation for relations with Iran. In any case, small acts in parliaments reflect the group’s desperate attempts to remain relevant, and are no match for ambitious rallies the MEK was able to organize in previous years in France.
Throughout its history, the MEK showed remarkable resilience, and due to its chameleonic nature and deep pockets, managed to navigate the turbulent waters of Middle Eastern politics. It may be premature to write an obituary for the MEK just yet. But the French steps to curtail its activities, particularly if and when they’ll eventually lead to the group’s expulsion from France, are definitely contributing to its decline.
This article reflects the personal views of the author and not necessarily the opinions of the S&D Group and the European Parliament.

France on Thursday rejected Iranian accusations that it backs an exiled opposition group that was the possible target of a bomb plot near Paris last week, saying an investigation would determine the real sponsors of the planned attack.

Iran’s foreign ministry on Tuesday summoned envoys from France, Germany and Belgium in protest at the arrest of an Iranian diplomat in Germany in connection with the alleged plan to bomb the annual National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), political wing for MEK, rally on the outskirts of Paris on June 30.

It also accused France of supporting the group, which is classified by Tehran as a terrorist organization.

The French foreign ministry confirmed on Thursday that its ambassador had been summoned on July 3 following the rally, but dismissed any suggestion that it supported the NCRI.

Iranian authorities “were reminded that France supports neither the ideology, objectives nor activities of the MEK. However, having been removed from the European list of terrorist organizations, this organization can carry out, like any other association, activities, as long as they do not undermine public order”, a French diplomatic source told Reuters.

French judicial sources said on Wednesday they had received a request from Belgium to extradite a man of Iranian origin who was arrested in Paris on suspicion of links to the plot.

Belgium is investigating two Belgians of Iranian origin arrested on Saturday. Five hundred grams of the homemade explosive TATP and a detonation device were found in their car, according to Belgian investigators.

An Austria-based Iranian diplomat is also being held in Germany in connection with the alleged bomb plot.

“On the planned attack at Villepinte (just outside Paris), an investigation is in progress. It will have to determine the real sponsors of this projected attack,” the French diplomatic source said.

Iran has said it had nothing to do with the plot, which it called as a “false flag” operation staged by figures within the NCRI.

In the following report provided by MNA staff members, a summary of France’s playing with Iran at different stages is discussed with the hope that our Foreign Ministry takes a tougher stance against the European country.French foreign minister has finally arrived in Tehran.

<img width="240" height="170" class="aligncenter wp-image-8074"src="https://www.nejatngo.org/en/wp-content/uploads/FR_Mek_terrorism_1.jpg"alt=""width="500"height="354"/>

The French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian arrived in Tehran early on Sunday March 5, 2018 and so far, he has met with Iran’s SNSC Secretary Ali Shamkhani and his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Jean-Yves Le Drian had postponed his trip to Tehran, which had been planned for January 5, 2018.

The decision for postponing the trip came as Iranian President Hassan Rouhani held a phone conversation with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron on January 3, 2018, calling on France to “take its legal responsibility to combat terrorism and violence,” criticizing that a terrorist group, called Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO), has a base in Paris, operating against the Iranian people and provoking and persuading people to take violent actions in Iran.

France’s support for terrorist MKO

Mohahedin-e Khalq (MKO) is a terrorist organization in exile that has carried out a lot of brutal attacks against civilian and government officials in Iran killing a large number of them.

The terrorist MKO has been supported by the Western governments since its founding.

The terrorist organization operates freely in France and holds regular conferences in French capital Paris every year in order to recruit many more terrorists.

They were involved in the recent riots in the Iran. On January 5, 2018, Iran’s intelligence ministry said on Friday that a MKO terrorist cell was discovered and dismantled in Boroujerd, Lorestan province, saying they were involved in sabotaging actions during recent protests.

Prior to that on July 2, 2017, Iran’s foreign minister had warned against activities of the MKO in France, saying “giving permission to carry out activities to a group which is loathed by the Iranian people, has a dark history of assassinations, had sided with Saddam regime, and has been making attempts to carry out attacks on the Iranian soil leaves a black stain on the countries that cooperate with such groups.”

Zarif added that the MKO had become an instruments in the hands of Iran’s enemies.

Now with all these in mind, the Iranian policy makers are expected to transfer Iranian people and government’s worries about the terrorist MKO’s activities in France.

France’s playing with the JCPOA

The level of hostility of the current US government towards the nuclear deal with Iran is clear to everyone, but Europeans’ position toward the pact is different. Some of them verbally continue to support the implementation process and want to keep things going. In this regard, Tehran has repeatedly stated that oral support is not enough and the Europeans have to take action against US’s moves in violation of the JCPOA.

Foad Izadi, professor of American studies at the University of Tehran believes that France has taken a hypocritical stance towards the nuclear deal with Iran and wants to relate the JCPOA with Iran’s missile program.

The continuation of making anti-Iran accusations and uncalculated remarks

In the past months, French senior officials including President Emmanuel Macron and Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian has uttered baseless claims and accusations against the Islamic Republic of Iran. They have explicitly named Iran as a threat to the region and the world and these claims have been of course condemned by statements issued by the Iranian foreign ministry. However, the effectiveness of these claims, considering their frequent expression, can be sized up.

Speaking to the Council on Foreign Relations in New York, Le Drian criticized Iran for destabilizing measures in Syria, Iraq, and Yemen.

“The other condition for building trust is keeping one’s word. The destabilizing actions carried out by Iran in Syria, in Iraq, in Lebanon, in Yemen, or in the Gulf region—whether directly or through the groups it supports—these initiatives cannot be tolerated. And I’m stated this very bluntly. Likewise, for ballistic activities carried out by Iran, which are incompatible with the resolutions of the Security Council. This attitude runs contrary to our interests, and runs contrary to the U.S.’s interests. This attitude is a threat to the security of countries in the region. We certainly share the objective to curb this policy, because he cannot accept interfering and the desire for hegemony that they testify to.”

While visiting UAE and Saudi Arabia, French President Macron repeated in Dubai that he wanted to keep the landmark 2015 nuclear deal, which Trump has challenged.

But he said he was “very concerned” by Iran’s ballistic missile program, mentioning a missile fired from Yemen and intercepted by Saudi Arabia on Saturday, and raised the prospect of possible sanctions with regard to those activities.

“There are extremely strong concerns about Iran. There are negotiations we need to start on Iran’s ballistic missiles,” he said.

“Like what was done in 2015 for the nuclear activities, it’s necessary to put a framework in place for Iran’s ballistic activities and open a process, with sanctions if needed, of negotiation that would enable (that).”

It is worth to mention that in the past months, Mr. Macron shared the same views against Iran in his meetings with US President Trump and Israeli PM Netanyahu.

The French Foreign Minister Le Drian has also made threats against Iran saying that if Iran does not take care about the concerns over its missile program, new sanctions may be levied on Iran.

Of course, it is to be borne in mind that the negative report card of the French in dealing with the Iranian nation is not limited to these remarks in regards with the JCPOA, Iran’s missile program, and defense capabilities.

HIV-Infected Bloods Case

The case of “HIV-Infected Bloods” dates back to approxmately three decades ago and came to being in the course of Iran-Iraq war (1980-1988). However, the case is one of the other unpleasant and unforgettable measures taken by the French authorities against Iranians.

Mérieux Institute, which currently is at the ownership of French Sanofi-Aventis Company, exported HIV-contaminated coagulation factors, for being used by patients suffering from hemophilia, to some countries including West Germany, Italy, Argentine, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Iran.

In the same direction, exporting HIV-infected bloods claimed lives of many patients suffering from hemophilia.

The necessity of Iran’s Foreign Ministry taking legal action against France’s baseless accusations

With all the above considerations, the widespread accusations made by Paris authorities against Tehran indicate that the approach taken by French authorities after the implementation of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is based on double-standard, bias, an unilateral policy.

In this regard, Naqavi Hosseini Spokesman for Parliament National Security Commission said, “it has already been reiterated that Iran’s defensive power is not negotiable and in my opinion, Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs should take urgent action against the issue seriously.”

“In general, the respected government of the Islamic Republic of Iran should revise its relations with French authorities categorically,” he maintained.

For his part, Ali-Akbar Velayati Senior Advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in International Affairs pointed to baseless remarks raised by French officials with regard to renegotiating with Iran’s missile power and said, “defensive preparedness is of the initial and inalienable rights of any nation and no country is allowed to interfere in internal affairs of other countries.”

Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi also showed harsh reaction in this respect and said, “the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran will never allow others to undermine its missile power since it is for peaceful purposes.”

Letter of the families of members of Rajavi terrorist cult and the former members, to the new President of France, about the annual celebration of Maryam Rajavi in Paris

Mr. Emmanuel Macron, the honorable president of the Republic of France

With greetings, we wish to draw your attention to some interesting points.

You surely know the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MEK, MKO) and do know what occasion Maryam Rajavi, the leader of this group after Massoud Rajavi, celebrates in Paris every year. This group also appears under the names of the National Council of Resistance (NCR) and the National Liberation Army (NLA).

It is now 36 years since Massoud Rajavi first entered France and sought refuge in your country. It was towards the end of June 1981 that this group declared armed struggle against Iran and started a bloody campaign to gain power. Then Massoud Rajavi escaped to Paris and under the protection of your country and other western countries, directed the MEK’s terrorist activities inside Iran.

In the 80s there was no sign of terrorist groups such as Al-Qaeda and ISIL, and the west was not familiar with terrorism and its difficulties as today. But the people of Iran faced a vast amount of terrorist activities in those years that the west is just beginning to experience a limited amount in recent years. Perhaps the westerners now understand a little how the people of Iran suffered through these years of terror.

After five years residing in France and directing terror inside Iran, Massoud Rajavi while admitting defeat of the strategy of fighting in the cities, moved to Iraq as was directed by US and the west. You surely are aware that Massoud Rajavi had a prior undercover visit to France before the start of Iran-Iraq war. Later it was disclosed that this journey was aimed at making connections with the Iraqi regime and was mediated by France. It was agreed that the Iraqis from outside Iran and the MEK from inside of the country work together and destroy the newly established Islamic Republic of Iran.

What is the act of ‘cooperating with the enemy during a war’ considered as in your country? How do you explain such an obvious betraying and what verdict do you give for it? We do wish to know your opinion on this. Massoud Rajavi’s move to Iraq, while being at war with Iran and joining the Iraqi forces against the Iranian defenders, also happened to occur in June 1986.

Since 2000, the west became familiar with terrorism as it is known today, and groups misusing Islam emerged and committed widespread acts of violence and cruelty. We consider the MEK to be their godfather. Do you know that the MEK are proud of being the originators of suicide bombing and of inventing the exploding vest? Do you know that in those years that Massoud Rajavi was a special guest in your country, the MEK used this sort of terrorism inside Iran using many numbers of their brainwashed members? Do you know that the MEK recruited most of their forces from Iranians in the US and Europe and after they were brainwashed sent them to Iraq via Turkey and forced them into the war with Iran? Later ISIL copied the MEK and did the same.

We would like you to answer one question sincerely. If the leaders of Al-Qaeda or ISIL celebrate in Tehran the beginning of their terrorism against the west, what would the reaction of the people of New York, London, or Paris be? If a country gives refuge to your country’s war traitors and allows them to act freely against your country, how would you feel?

It is very difficult for us to relate these sorts of behaviors to the France’s claim of democracy and peace. Don’t you think that such issues damage the humanitarian appearance of France?

Do you know that the base of the MEK in Auvers-sur-Oise in the suburbs of Paris inside France operates under cultic rules, and the behavior, thoughts, beliefs, communications and emotions of the members are severely controlled? Aren’t you concerned about the presence of some brainwashed elements in your country, who are ready to commit self-immolation on a single command? Do your security authorities approve celebrations in your country commemorating the start of terrorism?

The MEK, just like all other terrorist cults in history, is condemned to failure. This cult has committed many crimes against the people of Iran, people of Iraq, and even against its own members. This cult was forced to leave Iraq. Have you ever asked the Iraqis why they were so insistent on MEK leaving their country? It is obvious, because Iraq found their presence a security threat. Now they have been moved to Europe and their headquarters is in Paris. How come France and other European countries ignore their threat? Can the conflict with the Islamic Republic of Iran justify such negligence?

France had an excuse in the past for keeping the Rajavi cult in Paris that they have nowhere to go. But now Maryam Rajavi spent several months with her forces in Albania and can easily reside in Tirana with her followers. There is a security problem now and that is they are expanding their activities towards European countries as well as Syria, Iraq, Ukraine, and Iran. But everyone, including those responsible for security in Europe, knows that they would soon be problematic in Europe. They do not belong to European countries, they do belong to some warmongering Americans and therefore their presence in France can be very dangerous for your country and the whole Europe.

We, the suffering families and the former members, urge you as the highest representative of the Republic of France, do not stick the MEK in our eyes anymore and at least for the sake of your own county’s reputation do not give in to the criminals and traitors. Expelling or at least limiting the MEK terrorist cult in France can of course be in the path of countering terrorism and cults and also seeking democracy and peace and developing human rights.

Families and former members of MEK

European counter-terror experts warn that as ISIS is pushed into a smaller and smaller theatre of operations in the Middle East, there will certainly be blowback as foreign fighters return to their own countries. In this context, the ISIS terrorist attacks in Tehran expose a much more complex situation which will have lasting repercussions in the West unless it is tackled at source. That includes zero tolerance for any messages promoting violent extremism.

What worries experts is that ISIS almost certainly gained the expertise it used to carry out the attacks in Iran from the exiled Mojahedin Khalq (MEK) organisation. The MEK has a three-decade history of terrorist violence against Iran and continues to cling to an agenda which promotes violent regime change. Whilst the MEK is widely regarded as a defunct force due to the age and health of its fighters, experts warn that although the MEK no longer constitutes a fighting force, the members remain fully radicalised and capable of acting as logistics facilitators and training and planning consultants for any other terrorist group. Certainly, they are all capable of conducting suicide missions.

<img fetchpriority="high" width="510" height="270" class="wp-image-6999 size-full"src="https://www.nejatngo.org/en/wp-content/uploads/MKO_Albania_36.jpg"alt="MKO members in Albania"width="510"height="270" srcset="https://www.nejatngo.org/en/wp-content/uploads/MKO_Albania_36.jpg 510w, https://www.nejatngo.org/en/wp-content/uploads/MKO_Albania_36-300x159.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 510px) 100vw, 510px" />

Since America ensured the MEK were transferred from Iraq to Albania this danger has become more acute. Albania is still struggling to overcome the political and media corruption, drug crime, gun smuggling and people trafficking which will prevent it joining the European Union anytime soon. The presence of 3000 radicalised MEK members in a country known as a route between Europe and Syria for modern terrorist forces is not just controversial, it is dangerous.

Even so, the real danger does not lie in Albania; it is a NATO country dominated by the US and the MEK can and will, therefore, be contained and re-purposed for whatever the US needs them for. The recent visits to the MEK by John Bolton and Senator John McCain are an indication of this agenda.

Maryam Rajavi presents a list of anti-Imperialist MEK martyrs to Senator McCain in Tirana 2017

The real danger lies in France and Western Europe. The MEK has been headquartered for the past thirty-six years in Auvers-sur-Oise just outside Paris. This year, as always, the MEK will use its front name the ‘National Council of Resistance of Iran’ to hire the Villepinte salon outside Paris, pay disproportionate speakers fees to advocates and round up a paid audience to wave flags and dutifully applaud the ‘regime change’ speeches. This annual event is known inside the MEK as a celebration of armed struggle – the raison d’être of the MEK group.

This year the event is being held on July 1, but it was originally timed to celebrate the MEK’s challenge to Ayatollah Khomeini’s leadership on 30th Khordad (June 21, 1981). These dates matter. Analysts now say that the MEK has moved the date of the celebration to distance it from the association with defeat – after the coup d’état failed, senior MEK leaders fled to France with CIA backing and left the rank and file to face mass arrests and executions inside Iran. Instead the new date is closer to what the MEK regards as a major victory in its three decade long terrorist campaign against Iran. On the 7th Tir (June 28, 1981) MEK operatives blew up the headquarters of the Islamic Republic Party in Tehran during a meeting of party leaders. Seventy-three leading officials of the Islamic Republic were killed.

The significance of this becomes clear when we link the MEK’s core beliefs to the recent terrorist attacks in Tehran. The message which the MEK event gives to observers is that the pattern of attacks by ISIS in Tehran was glorious and righteous and is a legitimate response to a scenario in which Iran is the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism. (For the record, neither the MEK nor Saudi Arabia condemned the attacks.)

<img width="510" height="270" class="wp-image-7004 size-full"src="https://www.nejatngo.org/en/wp-content/uploads/Rajavi_Faisal.jpg"alt=""width="510"height="270" srcset="https://www.nejatngo.org/en/wp-content/uploads/Rajavi_Faisal.jpg 510w, https://www.nejatngo.org/en/wp-content/uploads/Rajavi_Faisal-300x159.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 510px) 100vw, 510px" />

This scenario – Iran as the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism – has been promoted ad nauseam by the MEK throughout western political circles. The work of national parliaments as well as the European Parliament have been held hostage to this narrative. Normalisation of relations with Iran following the nuclear agreement have been stymied by the MEK. Indeed, MEK bullying and intimidation in pursuit of this agenda was recently discussed in the European Parliament. The MEPs concluded that Europe cannot properly challenge Iran’s human rights situation as long as a group which promotes regime change and abuses the human rights of its own members artificially imposes itself centre stage of these discussions.

The fact is that over the past year the western political landscape has changed dramatically. Two distinct blocs have emerged: a cohort of anti-Iran countries including the US, UK, Israel and Saudi Arabia on one side blindly pursuing regime change against Iran apparently at all costs, and Europe – minus the UK after Brexit – (and incidentally Russia and China) pursuing rapprochement and trade opportunities.

In this context, the spotlight for action must fall on France, home to the MEK headquarters. We must ask the French government ‘these people belong to the regime change bloc, why do you continue renting your land to them after 36 years? What have the Americans or the MEK done for you that is worth the bad reputation attached to supporting this group? What is the cost benefit of having the MEK in your country? What implications does its continued presence have for your foreign policy and trade relations? How can the Republic continue to allow this group to promote violent extremism and terrorism on French soil?’

In the past, of course, it was pointless asking these questions – even though they were asked as permanent unresolved issues. Removing the MEK from France and other European countries was problematic – expelling them to Iraq was impossible because their human rights could not be guaranteed. But in 2016 the Americans facilitated the MEK’s removal from Iraq to safety in Albania. There is no reason to believe that Europe cannot similarly facilitate the safe removal of the MEK leaders from France and other European countries to Albania. The MEK leader Maryam Rajavi has already spent several weeks in Tirana. There is nothing to prevent her setting up a permanent headquarters there with further help from the Americans.

President Emmanuel Macron’s new centrist movement has won a large majority in the French parliament giving him a strong hand to play. He already revealed himself to be a shrewd and masterful challenger in international relations almost before opening his mouth when he out manoeuvred President Donald Trump at the NATO summit in Brussels in May. Perhaps the time is finally ripe for a new appraisal of what zero tolerance means for France. The MEK’s messages promoting violent regime change should no longer be tolerated.
