The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry lashed out at certain Western politicians, including former US state secretary Mike Pompeo, for selling themselves cheap for a Europe-hosted circus organized by the Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO) terrorist group.<\/p>\n
In a post on his Twitter account on Saturday, Saeed Khatibzadeh denounced the anti-Iran gathering in Europe as an example of shameful Western hypocrisy.<\/p>\n
The spokesman said the \u201cbought Western politicians\u201d, including Mike Pompeo who was proud of lying, cheating, and stealing, \u201csell themselves cheap for a Europe-hosted circus arranged by a once Saddam-backed terrorist cult with Iranian blood on its hands.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cInsatiable thirst for $$ & anti-Iran obsession is driving shameful western hypocrisy,\u201d Khatibzadeh added.<\/p>\n
Pompeo and Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansa were among speakers at a gathering of the MKO terrorist group, held in Berlin on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The MKO -listed as a terrorist organization by much of the international community- fled Iran in 1986 for Iraq and was given a camp by former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.<\/p>\n
They fought on the side of Saddam during the Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-88). They were also involved in the bloody repression of Shiite Muslims in southern Iraq in 1991 and the massacre of Iraqi Kurds.<\/p>\n
The notorious group is also responsible for killing thousands of Iranian civilians and officials after the victory of the Islamic revolution in 1979.<\/p>\n
More than 17,000 Iranians, many of them civilians, have been killed at the hands of the MKO in different acts of terrorism including bombings in public places, and targeted killings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
