{"id":2294,"date":"2009-02-07T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2009-02-07T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nejatngo.org\/en\/2009\/02\/07\/iran-warns-eu-over-delisting-mko\/"},"modified":"2021-01-21T18:59:23","modified_gmt":"2021-01-21T15:29:23","slug":"iran-warns-eu-over-delisting-mko","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nejatngo.org\/en\/posts\/2294","title":{"rendered":"Iran warns EU over delisting MKO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"justify\"style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px\"><font face=\"Verdana\"size=\"2\">Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for European Affairs Mahdi Safari has lamented the European Union&rsquo;s &ldquo;double-standard and hypocritical&rdquo; approach toward terrorism and warned about dire consequences of compromise with terrorists. <br \/> The comments by Safari came as foreign ministers of the 27-nation EU removed the name of the Mojahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) from its terror list on January 26. <br \/> The behavior of certain European countries toward terrorism is &ldquo;politically motivated&rdquo;, Safari said as he summoned EU ambassadors to protest against the decision on Wednesday. <br \/> Pointing to the EU&rsquo;s international and domestic commitments to combating terrorism, he called the decision &ldquo;political and unacceptable&rdquo;. <br \/> Safari bewailed the fact that some European countries are interacting with terrorists to achieve their &ldquo;illegitimate and temporary purposes&rdquo;. <br \/> The MKO was given &ldquo;carte blanche&rdquo; after the EU removed its name from terror list, he said, adding that the EU itself will be responsible for the consequences of its decision. <br \/> Pointing to the sensitive situation in the region, he pointed out that terrorists are trying to destabilize the region. <br \/> Any cooperation with these groups will help intensify their destructive activities and give rise to regional insecurity, he explained. <br \/> The Czech diplomat whose country chairs the EU rotating presidency vowed to notify the block of Iran&rsquo;s views as soon as possible. <br \/> The official also underscored the importance of campaign against terrorism and expressed hope that Iran-EU cooperation will continue in this regard and produce positive results.<br \/> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tehrantimes.com\/index_View.asp?code=188584\">http:\/\/www.tehrantimes.com\/index_View.asp?code=188584<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for European Affairs Mahdi Safari has lamented the European Union\u2019s \u201cdouble-standard and hypocritical\u201d approach toward terrorism and warned about dire consequences of compromise with terrorists.
