{"id":4106,"date":"2011-12-28T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-12-28T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nejatngo.org\/en\/2011\/12\/28\/u-s-wants-safe-resettlement-from-ashraf\/"},"modified":"2021-01-21T19:08:53","modified_gmt":"2021-01-21T15:38:53","slug":"u-s-wants-safe-resettlement-from-ashraf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nejatngo.org\/en\/posts\/4106","title":{"rendered":"U.S. wants safe resettlement from Ashraf"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The resettlement of Iranian refugees at Iraq&#8217;s Camp Ashraf must have the support of camp residents and their supporters, the U.S. secretary of state said.<img vspace=\"10\"hspace=\"10\"align=\"right\"src=\"https:\/\/st.nejatngo.org\/Image\/WebSite\/Logo\/UPI_1.JPG\"alt=\"U.S. wants safe resettlement from Ashraf\"\/><\/p>\n<p> The United Nations and Baghdad last weekend signed a memorandum of understanding to relocate residents at Camp Ashraf in Diyala province to a temporary location at Camp Liberty, a former U.S. military base near Baghdad International Airport.<\/p>\n<p> The MOU calls on the U.N. High Commission for Refugees to determine the refugee status of Ashraf residents to eventually resettle them in third countries.<\/p>\n<p> Martin Kobler, head of the U.N. Assistance Mission for Iraq, said the MOU made it clear relocation from Camp Ashraf was voluntary.<\/p>\n<p> Camp Ashraf houses members of the People&#8217;s Mujahedin of Iran. Members of the PMOI were used as a paramilitary force by Saddam Hussein but surrendered to invading U.S. forces in 2003.<\/p>\n<p> Europeans have relaxed their stance on the organization, though Washington lists it as a terrorist group.
