{"id":4972,"date":"2012-12-23T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2012-12-23T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nejatngo.org\/en\/2012\/12\/23\/canada-drops-mek-from-list-of-terror-groups\/"},"modified":"2021-01-21T19:13:01","modified_gmt":"2021-01-21T15:43:01","slug":"canada-drops-mek-from-list-of-terror-groups","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nejatngo.org\/en\/posts\/4972","title":{"rendered":"Canada drops MEK from list of terror groups"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote>\n<div>Move to delist Mujahedeen-e-Khalq follows similar decisions by US and EU<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Canada&rsquo;s government said Thursday that it has removed an Iranian opposition group once allied with Saddam Hussein&rsquo;s Iraqi regime from its official list of terrorist organizations.<img vspace=\"10\"hspace=\"10\"align=\"right\"alt=\"\"src=\"https:\/\/st.nejatngo.org\/Image\/News\/Terrorism\/Terrorism_NO.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p> The government&rsquo;s move to delist Mujahedeen-e-Khalq, or MEK, follows similar moves by the United States and the European Union.<\/p>\n<p> The MEK, a small, armed exile group, has said it wants to replace Tehran&rsquo;s clerical regime with a secular government through peaceful means.<\/p>\n<p> The MEK, also known as the People&rsquo;s Mojahedin Organization of Iran, carried out a series of bombings and assassinations against Iran&rsquo;s regime in the 1980s and fought alongside Saddam&rsquo;s forces in the Iran-Iraq war.
