The army of MKO had several camps across Iraq with the support of Saddam Hussein. The MKO, an Iranian opposition group, has been listed as a terrorist group by the US and EU. The ideology of MKO is a mixture of Marxism and Shiite Islam. They had bloody clashes with Shah of Iran in which many of the group’s members were killed.
Since it’s a terrorist organization, MKO uses the same methods of Baathists against the people of Iraq. They obeyed ousted regime of Saddam Hussein and they did their best to serve as wanted. They were involved in suppressing the uprising of Sha’banieh and attacks on villages and town in southern and northern Iraq.
The proscribed terrorist cult, Mojahedin Khalq, has once again accused all those people and organisations which criticize its behaviour of ‘working for the Iranian government’; an accusation which is punishable by death according to their public announcements over the past 25 years. And this is the worrying part which has prompted me to write this letter.
At the time of the facts giving rise to the present dispute, it was composed of five separate organisations and an independent section, making up an armed branch operating inside . According to the applicant, however, it and all its members have expressly renounced all military activity since June 2001 and it no longer has an armed structure at the present time.
MKO relies on a weak ruling by a European court, which is not bounding for the states and its least effect can be limited to bureaucratic relations inside the EU. More importantly, the ruling stressed that MKO had not committed terrorist acts since 2000, while after the ruling was issued, Maryam Rajavi said that group should be rearmed!
The group played an effective role in people opposing campaign against the regime of Shah but after the fall of Shah the group challenged the newly-come to power Islamic Regime and called the people to go on strike and demonstration. But the people turned against them and thus the group which was left alone set out for terrorizing the individuals, bombing and execution.
As it served the goals and interests of Saddam’s regime in the past, it is now acting to deepen tribal differences. Some Imperialist forces have tied their hopes to this terrorist group and even use this organization against Shiites of Iraq and Iran; they use it for illegal operations.This group has an active role in destabilizing the security and supporting terrorists. The Supreme Court refused Monday to block the trial of seven Los Angeles residents charged with raising money for an Iranian opposition group that was designated a”foreign terrorist organization”by the U.S. government. Lawyers for the seven had argued the charges were unconstitutional because they had a free-speech right to raise money for a political group.
What follows is part of the details of the session quoted by Iraqi TV: – Prosecutor provided the court with a new audio tape in which Ali Hassan Al-majid talks about chemical weapons against the Kurds and promises to impose more restrictions on them, including the ban on speaking Kurdish.- Another audio tape revealed that Hassan Al-Majid was planning a new scenario, including chemical attacks on the Kurds, gathering them in specified locations and then targeting them with chemical weapons.
