Ban welcomes offer to Mojahedin Khalq

MEK lobby should stop spreading insults and falsehoods about Mr. Kobler

18 March 2013 – Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, in a new report, voices concern about political tensions and security incidents in Iraq, which have increased in recent months, and calls on all parties to resolve outstanding issues through dialogue.

Separately, Mr. Ban and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, António Guterres, today welcomed a generous offer by Albania of humanitarian admission for 210 residents from Camp Hurriya, located near the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

The camp serves as a transit facility for more than 3,000 exiles, most of them members of a group known as the People’s Mojahedeen of Iran, where a process to determine their refugee status is being carried out by the UN refugee agency (UNHCR). An attack on the camp last month left seven people dead and more than 40 injured.

“He expects and urges the residents to positively respond to Albania’s offer and to cooperate with UNHCR to relocate in the coming days,” said a statement issued by Mr. Ban’s spokesperson. “The Secretary-General urges other Member States to follow suit and to offer residents a safe relocation outside of Iraq, in light of their need for international protection.”

The statement added that Mr. Ban “unequivocally supports” the efforts of his Special Representative for Iraq, Martin Kobler, “to courageously and creatively, in exceptionally difficult circumstances, help resolve this situation.”

In his report, Mr. Ban urges those who express support for the residents of Camp Hurriya and the remaining residents of another camp, New Iraq, to stop spreading insults and falsehoods about Mr. Kobler, who heads the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), and instead help to promote a durable solution.

He adds that the significant funds evidently spent on high-profile lobbying could be more usefully utilized to improve aspects of the humanitarian conditions often cited in media and lobbying campaigns.

More generally, Mr. Ban writes in the report that the security environment in Iraq remained “volatile and unpredictable” in recent months, fuelled by political and sectarian tensions.

He appeals to all parties to intensify their efforts to find solutions to longstanding political, legislative and legal issues through dialogue and in a spirit of compromise and flexibility.

The protests that erupted in late December in various parts of the country, as well as the relations between the Iraqi Government and the Kurdistan Regional Government, which deteriorated in late November over the issue of security coordination in the disputed territories, has presented “major challenges” for the Government of Iraq ahead of the upcoming governorate council elections scheduled for 20 April, notes Mr. Ban.

He urges the Government of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government to resume dialogue, noting that transparent and accountable sharing of power and resources is essential for ensuring further political stability, economic growth and prosperity for all. “There is no alternative to peaceful coexistence in a united federal Iraq,” he stresses.

Commenting on the upcoming elections, Mr. Ban urges the relevant authorities to ensure the fair representation of women and minorities in elected bodies, including by adopting the recommendation of the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) that a 25 per cent quota for women be enshrined in the electoral laws, applicable to all elections.

Meanwhile, he continues to have serious concerns about some aspects of the administration of justice in Iraq, including reports of abuse and mistreatment of prisoners and detainees, failure to respect due process and shortcomings in meeting fair trial standards.

“I am also concerned by the particular difficulties faced by women who come in contact with the criminal justice system,” he writes. “I urge the Government of Iraq to ensure that due process is fully respected in line with the Constitution, as well as international human rights law obligations, while at the same time ensuring that alleged cases of abuse and mistreatment are thoroughly investigated and that those responsible are held to full account.”

He also calls on the Government to investigate the 9 February attack on Camp Hurriya, and to show flexibility in finding a constructive solution for the resolution of the property issue in Camp New Iraq.

The residents there, numbering 100, insist that their relocation cannot occur until the issue of movable and immovable property is resolved. He urges the residents to engage on this issue, as well as to engage with the UNHCR resettlement process.

Former members of the MEK

Memoirs of Nasrin Ebrahimi, MKO ex- member_Part 4

Nasrin Ebrahimi is a former member of the Mujahedin Khalq Organization, who fled the group in 2006. She was one of the first survivors of the Cult-like MKO who dared to reveal the corruption of the leaders of the group. She was the first person to speak of the “Summit Operation” which was a cult jargon through which a large number of female members of the group became infertile by Hysterectomy surgery.
Nim Negah Website is publishing series of interviews with Ms. Ebrahimi. Nejat society translated excerpts of her memoirs of the sufferings of living in the MKO cult.

Women stuck behind Cult barsWomen stuck behind Cult bars

I liked music very much. I wished to listen to a piece by one of our famous singers like Ebi, Siavash or Darius…but in Camp Ashraf there was no access to radio or TV…

To our surprise, today the MKO rudely propagates the problems of satellite broadcasting in Iran while in the MKO we were not allowed to listen to music, let alone having a radio.

How can the group run propaganda criticizing the satellite issues in Iran? Of course this is why the MKO is called “Hypocrites” by the Iranian people!

Once, I saw a women listening to a walkman in a room labeled “Luggage Room”. She had been brought to the camp from Europe. The room was hardly ever trafficked by members so it was a silent place.

Immediately after she saw me, she hid the walkman. I called to her and said,” I won’t tell it to anyone.”

Then I asked her to lend her walkman to me for a while. She begged me not to let anyone know that she had kept her walkman.  As it was usual members’ properties were confiscated before they entered Ashraf but this woman could manage to keep her walkman.

There was a problem with the walkman; it could be heard by a person next to you so it was dangerous. There was the risk that officials would learn about it.

That night I decided to stay up and listen to music but I had to wait until everyone would fall asleep. I waited until 1 am. When I made sure that everyone was asleep, I started listening to music under the blanket …suddenly the person next to me asked, “Are you listening to music?” I was so terrified that I couldn’t answer her. I turned it off… I couldn’t sleep all night long. The next morning I tried to be nice with the person who had found out that I was listening to music. I tried to ask her to forget the case. If she criticized me in the brainwashing sessions, I would be left into a big trouble; I had to explain why I had granted the right of listening to music to myself!

The self-criticism meetings were actually trials where you had no attorney, no right to defend yourself. You had to hear your comrades verbally abuse you. During the trial, there was no justice; nothing was fair… That was why in Ashraf the word Meeting was the equivalent of Stress and Fear. That was why, with my eyes I begged that girl who had found me listening to music, asking her not to tell it to anyone! [..]

After the separation from men, it was the first time you could see all female members in one place. Before that we were divided in different bases as you could not find out who was who! Once all women were settled in one single base, you could realize there were a lot of mothers whose children were separated from them by Rajavi , there  were a lot of young girls who were kept in the MKO by Rajavi  for their whole life so they had no idea of the outside world.

I remember a young girl asking me what the buildings in Iran were built of. I said, “I can’t understand what you mean?!” She said,” I mean the buildings there, are like Ashraf made of Conex (Bengals) or they are built of something else?”This was really surprising! It recalled you of the Seven Sleepers!

After some time of living in female base, I found out that those mothers, whose children were taken by Rajavi, were so nice with us – we were almost at the age of their separated children.

I didn’t know that in the MKO love was forbidden and no one was allowed to be kind with others. After a while I realized that they pretended to ignore us before the eyes of MKO officials, they never talked with us in front of them. Thus I got to know that kindness and love was forbidden in the MKO. Loving mothers were humiliated by the Rajavis!

Some of the mothers gave us gifts, they liked to hug and kiss us just like their own children but this was forbidden in the cult of Rajavi. The cult authorities said, ”once you recall your children and love other sisters in the memory of your children, you betray Rajavi”(!)

Albania offer for asylum to MKO rejected

Rajavi: Camp Ashraf Safer than Albania!!!!!

An Iranian opposition group on Saturday turned down Albania’s offer of asylum to 210 of its members who are Rajavi: Camp Ashraf Safer than Albania!!!!!living at a former U.S. military base near Baghdad.

Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha made the offer after meeting with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Barbara Leaf, U.N. envoy in Iraq Martin Kobler, and other officials. He said the offer of asylum for the Mujahedeen-e-Khalq members was made for “humanitarian reasons.”

“We really appreciate the Tirana government’s helping hand,” Shahin Gobadi of the National Council of Resistance of Iran told The Associated Press from Paris in an interview conducted by telephone and e-mail.

Gobadi said the group, which oversees the Mujahedeen-e-Khalq, could not accept an offer of asylum for only a small portion of the group. The U.N. says more than 3,000 MEK members live at the former U.S. base.

Iraq’s government is eager to have Mujahedeen-e-Khalq out of the country. The group opposes Iran’s clerical regime and carried out assassinations and bombings in Iran until renouncing violence in 2001. It fought in the 1980s alongside Saddam Hussein’s forces in the Iran-Iraq war.

The refugee camp is located on a former American military base known as Camp Liberty. It is meant to be a temporary way station while the United Nations works to relocate the exiles abroad.

MEK members reluctantly began moving to Camp Liberty last year. They previously lived in a compound known as Camp Ashraf in northeastern Iraq. It was twice raided by Iraqi security forces, leaving more than three dozen people dead.

Their move to the new camp has not guaranteed their security. A strike at the camp with rockets and mortar shells on Feb. 9 left 8 dead and about 100 injured.

Two weeks later the head of a new Shiite militant group in Iraq threatened to carry out more attacks against the camp.

“The idea that Liberty residents refuse leaving Iraq is a lie that (U.N. envoy) Kobler propagates,” said Gobadi. “Quite the contrary, the Iranian resistance has done its utmost in the past two years to find host countries for former Ashraf residents.”

He said that camp residents had contacted Tirana and had guaranteed that the Iranian resistance would bear all costs regarding relocation and sought to increase the number of people offered asylum.

“Following the February 9 rocket attack on Camp Liberty and in light of the fact that all the Camp Liberty residents are in danger of similar attacks, transferring small groups of Liberty residents outside of Iraq would simply increase the danger for the majority who would stay behind,” Gobadi said in an e-mail

Gobadi said there are two options: “The first option is the immediate, even temporary transfer of all the residents to the U.S. or to a European country and permanent resettlement from there or the return of all of the residents to Camp Ashraf and the continuation of resettlement process from Ashraf, including transfer to Albania from Ashraf.”

UNHCR must not let Rajavi decide the fate of 3000 hostages

An open letter to the UNHCR

Dear Sirs and Madams,

As you are aware, the transit camp, Liberty was recently attacked by missiles. Unfortunately we have An open letter to the UNHCRwitnessed that after this dreadful attack, the Mojahedin Khalq Organisation (aka; MKO, MEK, Rajavi cult) instead of helping Mr Martin Kobler the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations, and the office of UNHCR and UNAMI in Iraq, have embarked on yet another wave of hindering and creating obstacles in the resolution process. The latest conspiracy the Mojahedin Khalq have embarked on is that they have ordered the supporters of the organisation in European and North American countries to write letters to the UNHCR offices. They have been ordered to claim to be the distant or near families of the people who have been killed and they have been ordered to claim that the lives of the residents of Camp Liberty are in imminent danger and to ask that these people be returned to Camp Ashraf where they were living before. Some others claim that they are the families of the residents of Camp Liberty and claim that their family members have no security there and should be sent back to Camp Ashraf.

The leaders of Mojahedin Khalq (Rajavi cult) want to keep the members as hostages whether they are in Camp Liberty or return to Camp Ashraf. Maryam Rajavi along with other commanders of the MEK in France has ordered the leaders in the camp to stop all interviews which the UNHCR was trying to carry out with the individuals. She claims to be the representative of these people. She has asked the commanders to put pressure on the residents to stop immediately any contact with any international organisation in or outside the camp. If this is not proof that this is a cult, then what could be the proof? It is now clear that a handful of people mostly living outside Iraq are deciding the fate of 3000 people stranded in Iraq. It is clearly the leaders of Rajavi cult and not the individuals living in the camp that are deciding their fate and the individuals have no say in their personal life, decisions and future.

It is the leaders of MEK who are keeping these hostages in Iraq, no one else. They are keeping them hostage and playing a game to divert attention away from the horrifying crimes they have committed in Iraq and to buy time. They are clearly keeping 3000 people hostage in a bid to run away form courts and justice systems across the globe.

We, some of the long serving ex-members of Mojahedin Khalq would like to ask the UNHCR to resume the legal process of interviewing the individuals and to find long lasting solutions for each and every one of them. This is the only way for these people to find a way to return to free societies and start a free life.

Albania

Albania to take in members of MEK

The Albanian government said on Saturday the Balkan country was ready to take in 210 members of an Iranian opposition group who currently live at a former US military base in Iraq.

"The government is ready to accommodate in Albania, for humanitarian reasons, 210 members of the People’s Mujahedeen of Iran", or the Mujahedeen-e-Khalq (MEK), Prime Minister Sali Berisha said in a statement.

Albania will take in the Iranians, who currently live at Camp Liberty near Baghdad, following demands of both the US authorities and the United Nations, he said.

The UN envoy in Iraq Martin Kobler and US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Barbara Leaf on Saturday held talks with the Albanian authorities over security measures and housing conditions for the opponents of the Tehran regime, which would be in line with international law.

A February mortar and rocket attack on Camp Liberty, housing about 3,000 members of the MEK, killed seven people, according to the group.

The MEK was founded in the 1960s to oppose the shah of Iran, and after the 1979 Islamic revolution that ousted him the group took up arms against Iran’s clerical rulers.

It says it has now laid down its arms and is working to overthrow the Islamic regime in Tehran by peaceful means.

Britain struck the group off its terror list in June 2008, followed by the European Union in 2009 and the United States in September 2012.

The Senate’s 10-Year Iraq War Anniversary Gift: War With Iran

standing under the logo of Mojahedin Khalq to lobby for war

When we mark the grim 10-year anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq next Tuesday, most Americans will be reflecting on the enormous human, economic, and geopolitical costs that the disastrous war and occupation inflicted.

What they won’t be doing is hoping for an anniversary gift from the people who got us into that war.

But Jeff Sessions (R-AL), Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and many of their Senate colleagues are busy wrapping up the perfect gift for a country who has been through everything: a new war of choice in the Middle East with Iran.

Senator Sessions recently addressed an audience on Capitol Hill at an event organized by affiliates of the Mujahedin-e Khalq, a radical Iranian exile group that was considered a terrorist organization by the U.S. until late last year. Sessions told the audience that, if President Obama took military action against Iran, "he would have great support in the Congress." He received not one but two standing ovations for his remarks. What he didn’t mention was that military officials believe a war to end Iran’s nuclear program would means "tens of years" of occupation and would make Iraq look like a cakewalk in comparison.

Meanwhile, the Senate is moving forward with an unprecedented resolution calling for the U.S. to provide support for Israeli strikes on Iran in the form military, economic, and diplomatic backing. The resolution, S.Res.65, is rightly being called a backdoor to war with Iran — a convenient way to plunge the U.S. into war without a messy public debate but instead automatically, based on when Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu decides to pull the trigger.

Senator Schumer, an original cosponsor of the resolution, defended his support for declaring preemptive U.S. backing for a preventive Israel-led war on Iran by offering an argument so riddled with intelligence falsehoods that it would have made George W. Bush blush.

In a letter to constituents, Schumer asserted that the Senate measure is necessary because Iran "continues to enrich uranium into weapons-grade nuclear materials in violation of United Nations resolutions" and that "experts say that the type of fuel that they produce is sufficient to arm a nuclear warhead."

I don’t know who are these "experts" that Senator Schumer is talking to, but they don’t include the U.S. Director of National Intelligence James Clapper. Clapper was on the Hill just this week testifying in the Senate about how Iran is still not enriching to weapons grade and has still not made a decision to build a nuclear weapon. Clapper also told senators that, if Iran did make a move to enrich to weapons grade, we would be able to detect it quickly.

The "experts" Schumer is talking to don’t just ignore the U.S. intelligence community, they also apparently don’t think much of intelligence agencies in Israel or any of the UN Security Council states, or the inspectors at the International Atomic Energy Agency who monitor Iran’s nuclear sites. All of these experts are in firm agreement: Iran is not enriching to weapons grade; Iran does not have materials to load into a nuclear warhead; and, just to be clear, Iran would still be years away from being able to assemble and deploy such a warhead.

The overwhelming consensus of these basic facts notwithstanding, there are, of course, real concerns about Iran’s nuclear intentions. Which is exactly why the Obama Administration is pursuing verifiable caps on Iran’s enrichment through negotiations. Securing such limits on Iran’s nuclear work would be a significant but achievable diplomatic accomplishment, and will take time. But the effort is beginning to showing progress, which is why The New York Times — no dove during the Iraq war push — called out Congress and the "pro-Israel" lobby AIPAC for pushing measures like S.Res.65 and new sanctions. The Times warns that these measures threaten to upend negotiations, fracture international efforts, and make war more likely. It is clear that some have actually learned the costly lessons from Iraq over the past decade.

While in the buildup to Iraq, the intelligence was being politicized from the inside; in the buildup to Iran, the intelligence is being politicized from outside. Leading up to the Iraq invasion, it was the White House that was heading up the effort to twist the intelligence and selling a public campaign reflecting an imagined reality based on suspicions and ideological agendas. It was Congress that eventually went along for the ride. But what we are seeing now from the intelligence community and the White House is the opposite — a sober, reality-based analysis of Iran’s nuclear program and capabilities, and a serious effort to utilize negotiations to avoid a disastrous war. Instead, it is lobby groups like AIPAC and a broken Congress who are helping dismantle diplomatic options, distorting the intelligence and building up the campaign for war.

If senators cannot be bothered to adhere to the most basic facts about the Iranian nuclear program, it is of little surprise they are okay with outsourcing the decision to go to war with Iran to Israel. But as we reflect on the past decade, the most important way that we can mark this grim anniversary is to make sure we never repeat the mistake of Iraq again and that our elected officials don’t take us into war with Iran.

Mujahedin Khalq Organization's Propaganda System

Beware of Mojahedin Khalq

The terrorist MKO cult (Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization) continuously makes false claims that the families of

the members of the cult who are trapped in Ashraf or in Liberty camps have been holding a sit-in opposite the UN office in Geneva for more than two years demanding the safety of their loved ones.

This deception has been instigated because for more than three years the genuine families of these people have held a sit-in in Iraq, just outside Ashraf camp. Their demand is to be able to meet with their loved ones for even a short time. This request has been vehemently denied by the MKO authorities.

While the cult leader Massoud Rajavi calls the genuine families ‘spies of the Iranian services’, he has gathered some paid individuals outside the UN office in Geneva under the guise of families.

Rajavi claims that the so-called families in Geneva demand the rescue of their relatives in Iraq; whilst Rajavi is the sole body threatening their safety. He does not let them out to determine their own destiny. He is using the excuse of ‘going back to Ashraf camp’ to disguise their real plight as his hostages.

Nowadays the cult’s lobbyists approach politicians and even ordinary people and paint a dreadful picture of the situation in Iraq by showing materials and then demand funds for the following:

1. The cult claims that the cost of the sit-in demonstration in Geneva, which they say is organized to safeguard the presence of their followers in Iraq, is around 40 thousand Euros a day. One might ask what they spend so much money on and for what reason.

2. The cult also demands funds for the lawyers they have hired in Europe for their activities regarding the inhabitants of Liberty. The question would be what might the lawyers do in Europe?

3. The third demand is to fund the meetings and rallies they hold in Europe which they claim are directly to the advantage of the followers in Iraq. The query is why they need so much propaganda just to make Maryam Rajavi well-known.

The truth is that all the money collected is used for Maryam Rajavi’s cosmetic surgery and her other luxuries while living in a suburb of Paris. Like all cults, the followers do not benefit from the income. They just have to work hard day and night for no pay and play the role of hostages for Rajavi by which he makes his impossible demands in Iraq. This is why cults are known to practice new slavery.

At the moment, some genuine family members have gone to Geneva to raise their case against the MKO leaders who have trapped their relatives in Iraq. In advance the cult leaders have called them ‘agents of the Iranian regime’. The MKO has also named Sahar Family Foundation in Iraq as an NGO related to Iran.

As the investigation show, those who have been brought to Geneva by the MKO are not the families of those in Iraq; they are paid lobbyists who do not bother too much to participate regularly in the sit-in.

We have to warn everyone that the MKO is a destructive mind control cult using all means of fraud and deception to gain money, manpower, political support and propaganda.

The true nature of the assault against Camp Liberty

Struan Stevenson, Conservative member of the European Parliament (MEP) from Scotland and lobbyist of the terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) in Europe, has recently addressed Ambassador György The true nature of the assault against Camp LibertyBusztin, Martin Kobler’s deputy in Iraq, and claimed that the missile and mortar attack against Camp Liberty on Saturday, February 9, 2013 was directed by the Iranian regime.

To prove his claim he has stated that the leader of Jaysh-Al-Mukhtar, i.e. Wathiq Al-Musawi Al-Batat, has accepted responsibility for the attack in an interview with the Al-Sharqiyya network and has emphasized that this sort of action will continue in future since the MKO is responsible for the massacre of the Iraqi people under Saddam Hussein. Stevenson has also made claims against the Iraqi Prime Minister Mr. Nuri Maliki and the Special Representative of the UN General Secretary to Iraq Mr. Martin Kobler and accused them of collaborating with the Iranian regime.

It is worth mentioning a few points in this regard:

1. While condemning the terrorist act, the Iraqi Prime Minister has ordered the leader of the terrorist organization to be arrested; Martin Kobler has also condemned this violent act and urged for a full investigation and for the criminals to be arrested and brought to justice.

2. Stevenson refers to the interview of Al-Batat with the Al-Sharqiyya network. This network is one of the most anti-Iranian media in Iraq which has close ties with the MKO. Reviewing the news and data produced by this network shows everything by itself.

3. There are documents showing that the network has given aid up to 100 thousand dollars to the Iraqi organization in the past. The source of the fund of course has been the MKO.

But the actual mission of the news network and the group claiming responsibility, whose hints are exposed gradually, is to create a fearful atmosphere amongst the Shiite Muslims in Iraq and connect all their activities to the Iranian regime. This is done with the cooperation of the Rajavi Cult and the remnants of the previous regime in Iraq. The purpose is of course to bring the toppled regime back to power in favor of the MKO. In this regard, anyone opposing their deeds will be accused of being the agent of the Iranian regime. This includes Nuri Maliki and Martin Kobler too.

At the present time, the idea of the Rajavi Cult being behind the missile and mortar attack against Camp Liberty is gaining support. What make the notion even more likely are the words of a former member of the cult who managed to escape from the camp after the attack. He is living in Baghdad now and is willing to bear witness anytime and anywhere necessary.

He has stated that: “Three days prior to the attack, they held a session for all the inhabitants of the camp titled ‘passive defense’. In this session alerts were given to all for the possibility of assaults against the camp and everyone was asked to follow the instructions given by the commanders in such a case and do exactly what they are told. In response to those who asked what sort of an assault they might face, the officials answered that there could be a missile and mortar attack. The night before the occurrence they broadcast one of Massoud Rajavi’s speeches on their satellite television and asked everyone to watch it. In his speech Rajavi clearly mentioned that in order to save Camp Ashraf they would need to make sacrifices and give their blood.”

Immediately after the attack at 5 am, Rajavi issued a statement addressed to the inhabitants of the camp where everyone was asked to follow the instructions given by the commanders and do exactly what they are told. Maryam Rajavi and the NCR in Paris simultaneously issued dozens of statements and demanded that the inhabitants of Camp Liberty be transported back to Ashraf. It seemed as though they were all ready for the attack. There was of course no statement asking for the inhabitants to be taken out of Iraq for their safety. While finding the Iranian regime responsible for the act, Maryam Rajavi urged that the members be moved from Baghdad to a place even nearer to the Iranian border and rejected any demands made for leaving Iraq, even those made by her American supporters.

Nevertheless what is clearer now is that this assault was made to the advantage of Rajavi in person and against the benefits of his victims and hostages in Camp Liberty. Surely neither the Iraqi government nor the UN in Iraq have gained anything from this, and only those who want to threaten the internal security of Iraq for their own particular benefits are willing to perform such acts.
