Mujahedin Khalq Organization's Propaganda System

Mujahedin, Running out of excuses

Another date has come and gone after Massoud Rajavi – through his wife Maryam – agreed that the next group of MEK members would transfer to Camp Liberty on 23 August. Of course, Mujahedin, Running out of excuseswelcome as such statements of intent are, there are many considerations which need to be taken into account before such a move can be undertaken. Not least of which is that there exists an accountable, humanitarian process for transferring these people which needs to be in place before they can be moved. This process is reliant on the scrupulously proper procedures detailed by the UN working in conjunction with the Iraqi authorities. Certainly there will be nothing to prevent the movement once these procedures are in place. It will only depend then on the MEK leaders being true to their word and allowing the individuals to be moved. The arrest of MEK spokesman Mohammad Eqbal for deliberately obstructing this process must send a clear message to the MEK leader Massoud Rajavi that he must comply the with legal requirement to allow these people to leave Camp Ashraf.

Alas, so far the MEK continues to mire the process with unwarranted prevarication as the MEK leader persists in making his unreasonable demands; demands designed to cause confusion and frustration and to attempt to provoke disagreements and recriminations between the Iraqis, the UN and international observers.

The MEK leader says two things must happen before anyone else moves.

His first demand is a delaying tactic. Rajavi says that conditions in Camp Liberty must be improved – in spite of it being judged to meet internationally agreed standards. A Washington Times report quoting Mr Tahar Boumedra, the former human rights chief at the U.N. mission in Baghdad who resigned his post in May accused Martin Kobler the UN Special Representative for Iraq of deliberately covering up ‘prison like conditions’ at the camp.

Jared Kotler, New York-based spokesman for the U.N. Department of Political Affairs, which oversees the U.N. Assistance Mission for Iraq said, “It is regrettable that such a distorted picture is being presented of the efforts of the United Nations in Iraq to resolve peacefully the situation of Camp Ashraf”. Mr. Kotler said the U.N. mission under Mr. Kobler’s leadership had worked “diligently and impartially to facilitate a peaceful solution that respects the rights and concerns of both the residents and the government of Iraq.”

“These efforts are one of the main reasons why this very tense situation has not already spilled over into further violence,” he added.

Tahar Boumedra was a well known character in Iraq during his tenure there. He enjoyed friendly relations with the MEK and was one of very few outsiders who were allowed inside Camp Ashraf. After leaving his post in Iraq, flights and accommodation have reportedly been paid by MEK supporter, R.Bruce McColm, President of Global Initiative for Democracy, as part of a campaign to advocate for the MEK.

The second of Rajavi’s demands is that the MEK must come off the US terrorism list. There are a host of reasons behind this demand. The most important of which is that Rajavi believes this to be key to the continued longevity of his group.

Rajavi’s worst fear is the inevitable dissolution of his cult. This long term problem is still ongoing partly in the form of natural attrition of forces. As residents of Camp Ashraf have been moved to Camp Liberty, they are offered a glimpse of the normality of the outside world. Several have taken advantage of this and voluntarily walked away from the group to take refuge with the Iraqi authorities. A major problem for Rajavi is that during the UNHCR refugee determination interviews in which the residents of the camps are being assessed for refugee status, it is made clear that in order to qualify for refugee status the individual must renounce membership of the MEK. Rajavi is being advised wrongly if he believes that delisting the MEK as a terrorist entity will allow individuals to maintain membership of a political group and qualify for refugee status. He needs to ask for clarification of the legal requirements for assigning refugee status. Certainly delisting in the US will not affect the situation of individuals in Iraq.

More importantly however Iraq citizens demonstrated recently against the continued presence of the MEK in their country. The Iraqi government has reiterated their demand – the MEK cannot be regarded as anything except a terrorist organisation and they must all leave Iraq. Iraqis claim that the delays and game playing are all aimed at eventually taking the group off the US list and that this will lead to pressure on the Government of Iraq to keep the group there. The Iraqis argue that any such move would be irrelevant and that Iraq will always regard the MEK as terrorists because of its past history and its current behaviour. The MEK’s current behaviour is a clear case of interference in the internal affairs of Iraq should not be tolerated by mediators like the UN or US or EU.

The Iraqi government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said however that delisting the MEK in other countries would allow these countries to receive the former members as refugees.

The MEK Expulsion from Iraq

MKO Terrorists Obliged to Leave Camp Ashraf by October

The Iraqi government set a new deadline for the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) to evacuate its members from Camp Ashraf – the main training camp of the terrorist group in Iraq – MKO Terrorists Obliged to Leave Camp Ashraf by Octoberby October this year, and called for the MKO’s unconditional compliance with Baghdad’s decree.

According to a report by the Persian-language Neday-e Haqiqat (the Voice of Truth) website, a delegation of representatives of the UN, Iraqi government and the US embassy visited the Khalis region in Diyala province yesterday and held meetings with MKO ringleaders over the terrorist group’s evacuation from Camp Ashraf.

At the meeting, the delegation asked the MKO to end the negative efforts it has been making to undermine the evacuation process, cautioning that the terrorists should leave Iraq’s soil.

According to report, the Iraqi officials agreed with the UN an US officials’ demands to postpone the withdrawal by October to show Baghdad’s commitment to the international community and find a humanitarian solution to the MKO, but they warned that the new deadline would be the last delay in MKO’s exist from Iraq.

In 2010 Iraq’s parliament and government set December 2011 as the deadline for MKO’s withdrawal from the country, but the group and its western backers have delayed the exit plan several times so far.

The MKO has been in Iraq’s Diyala province since the 1980s.

Iraqi security forces took control of the training base of the MKO at Camp Ashraf – about 60km (37 miles) north of Baghdad – in 2009.

The Iraqi authority also changed the name of the military center from Camp Ashraf to the Camp of New Iraq.

Earlier in July, Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and the UN Secretary-General’s Representative in Iraq Martin Kobler agreed to put an end to the dossier of MKO’s presence in Iraq in accordance with the deadlines announced last year.

According to a statement issued by the prime minister’s office, Maliki met with Kobler in his office. During the meeting, the two sides emphasized the importance of cooperation and coordination between the Iraqi government and UN representation to help it perform the tasks entrusted to it.

"They also discussed issues of common interest," said the statement.

The MKO is blacklisted by much of the international community, including the United States.

Before an overture by the EU, the MKO was on the European Union’s list of terrorist organizations subject to an EU-wide assets freeze. Yet, the MKO puppet leader, Maryam Rajavi, who has residency in France, regularly visited Brussels and despite the ban enjoyed full freedom in Europe.

The MKO is behind a slew of assassinations and bombings inside Iran, a number of EU parliamentarians said in a recent letter in which they slammed a British court decision to remove the MKO from the British terror list. The EU officials also added that the group has no public support within Iran because of their role in helping Saddam Hussein in the Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-1988).

Many of the MKO members abandoned the terrorist organization while most of those still remaining in the camp are said to be willing to quit but are under pressure and torture not to do so.

The group, founded in the 1960s, blended elements of Islamism and Stalinism and participated in the overthrow of the US-backed Shah of Iran in 1979. Ahead of the revolution, the MKO conducted attacks and assassinations against both Iranian and Western targets.

The group started assassination of the citizens and officials after the revolution in a bid to take control of the newly established Islamic Republic. It killed several of Iran’s new leaders in the early years after the revolution, including the then President, Mohammad Ali Rajayee, Prime Minister, Mohammad Javad Bahonar and the Judiciary Chief, Mohammad Hossein Beheshti who were killed in bomb attacks by MKO members in 1981.

The group fled to Iraq in 1986, where it was protected by Saddam Hussein and where it helped the Iraqi dictator suppress Shiite and Kurd uprisings in the country.

The terrorist group joined Saddam’s army during the Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-1988) and helped Saddam and killed thousands of Iranian civilians and soldiers during the US-backed Iraqi imposed war on Iran.

The Ideology of the MEK

Appeasement in the MeK dictionary

"Appeasement" for the remnants of Rajavi is as a comprehensive dictionary to explain all problems, for example:

Appeasement is a term that Rajavi applies it to explain organizational inabilities of the MeK.

Appeasement is applied by Rajavi to justify her unreal analysis and delusive predictions.

Appeasement is also introduced cause of the failure in terrorist strategy and radicalism against Iran.

Appeasement in discourse of Rajavi’s gang has many of these functions and its domain gets wider and wider; as far as, even, Rajavi’s refusal of Iraqi laws and UN commands and her violation of multilateral agreements recently are being justified as effects of America’s appeasement with Iran.

For a decade the MeK was accusing Europe for appeasing with Iran and not following the America’s policy, but now it is the US which is bellwether of appeasers!

Europe was being accused by the MeK leadership for appeasing with Iran, because it had placed her terrorist organization in the terrorist list, with the argument that Europe cannot lay away appeasement since it is willing to economic relationship with Iran.

In fact, any policy or action that does not agree with the logic of Rajavi is considered an appeasing behavior and, from this perspective, one can say that "appeasement" for the Rajavi’s gang is just a childish excuse to escape from responsibility.

Mujahedin Khalq; A proxy force

Close an MEK terror camp & worry Washington: Syria/Iran

You may recall the mention of MEK terrorists being present in Syria?

It was reported a day or so ago that Syria had arrested the MEK (brand name) terrorists in Syria.
You can read all about it here.

But first, read this!

Iraq’s threat to close MeK camp worries White House

Iraq’s threat to close a camp for terrorists worries the White House? Sorry, "dissidents" You can’t make this stuff up!

The Obama administration is worried about a threat from the Iraqi government to forcibly shut down a camp for Iranian dissidents(dissidents?) north of Baghdad.

Saddam Hussein allowed the dissidents to establish their paramilitary base in Iraq;( of course he did, they were attacking Iran and so was Iraq as a US proxy) however, the group has fallen out of favor with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s government, which is close to Iran. (Additional reasoning may be they (MEK) are continuing to launch terror attacks on Iran and Syria and likely in Iraq)

Falih al-Fayadh, Iraq’s national security adviser, on Tuesday said the Mujahedeen-e-Khalq (MeK) must move out of Camp Ashraf immediately or be forced to leave.

The State Department urged the Iraqi government to remain “patient and flexible” and seek a voluntary arrangement for relocating the former rebels, who were disarmed by U.S. troops after the overthrow of Saddam in 2003. (We need our MEK brand terrorists to ruin Syria, you can’t ask them to leave your own country)
“The United States is concerned by the government of Iraq’s reference on July 31 to the possible closure of Camp Ashraf by involuntary relocation of its residents,” Patrick Ventrell, the State Department’s acting deputy spokesman, said in a statement on Wednesday.
The MeK, also known as the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI), was designated by the State Department as a foreign terrorist organization in 1997 when former President Bill Clinton was trying to open talks with the Iranian government.

A U.S. federal court in June ordered Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to decide within four months on removing the MeK from the U.S. terrorist list or they will do it. (The judges will remove the MEK from the terror list. Clinton, that is Hillary in this case, will simply wait for the judges to remove the terrorists then she will appear to have clean hands)

And of course, there is a connection to France-

The Camp Ashraf leadership is not to blame for the situation, said Shahin Gobadi, a Paris-based spokesman for the National Council of Resistance of Iran, a political coalition that includes the MEK.

Considering the fact that in order to sell a war in Syria the NATO/Israel/GCC nations had to employ every brand of mercenary necessary from generic “rebel” to FSA why not MEK. All terrorists. All terrorizing the Syrian people. And speaking of terrorizing the people of Syria…….

Recall these are the "freedom fighters"?

One last piece-The Irish Times – Monday, August 13, 2012

Media coverage of Syrian violence partial and untrue, says nun

A NUN who has been superior at a Syrian monastery for the past 18 years has warned that media coverage of ongoing violence in that country has been “partial and untrue”. It is “a fake”, Mother Agnes Mariam said, which “hides atrocities committed in the name of liberty and democracy”.

Superior of the Melkite Greek Catholic monastery of St James the Mutilated in Qara, in Syria’s diocese of Homs, which is in full communion with Rome, she left Ireland yesterday after a three-day visit during which she met representatives of the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference in Maynooth.

She told The Irish Times she was in Ireland “not to advocate for the (Assad) regime but for the facts”. Most news reports from Syria were “forged, with only one side emphasised”, she said. This also applied to the UN, whose reports were “one-sided and not worthy of that organisation”.
UN observers in Syria had been “moderate with the rebels and covered for them in taking back positions after the withdrawal of heavy equipment, as seen so tragically in Homs”, she said.
The reason the media was being denied easy access to Syria currently was because in the Libyan conflict journalists placed electronic devices for Nato in rooms used at press conferences in that country, she said. “So Syria didn’t want journalists,” she said.

Read the rest at the link above Journalists as spies. Marie Colvin?Paul Conroy? Nothing new under the sun.

The MeK’s failed Blackmail

Remnants of Rajavi trying to render withdraw into goodwill

The MeK leadership’s statement reveals that her intention of sabotage in the relocation process was not to improve the living conditions of her members, but to blackmail America’s government, especially for removing name of the group from the list of terrorist organizations. (It is likely that this scenario be repeated during next steps.)

The MeK leadership already had stated that no longer she would allow the rest of the group to leave the camp, unless her 6 conditions were met, and her sabotage in the relocation process was to persuade the US and Iraqi government to accept her illegal demands, but finally she was forced to withdraw and announced that another batch of MeK members will leave Camp Ashraf to Camp Liberty on August 23.

The MeK leadership’s statement on this topic clearly reveals that her intention of sabotage in the relocation process was not to improve the living conditions of her members, but to blackmail America’s government, especially for removing name of the group from the list of terrorist organizations. (It is likely that this scenario be repeated during next steps.)

In the statement, without any reference to outcome of the pre- existing conditions, the US government, three times, is asked for removing the group from the terrorist list:

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran declared: As a gesture of goodwill, the residents of Ashraf will commence the 6th convoy of 400 residents from Camp Ashraf to Camp Liberty on August 23.

She added: The residents anticipate and expect that the completion of convoy 6 will be followed by a public statement by the United States Government that recognizes the cooperation of the Ashraf residents and reiterates continued U.S. commitment to:

(i) the approach on FTO designation and delisting outlined by Secretary Clinton on February 29, 2012, recognizing that the decision of US Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit requires the Secretary of State to make a determination regarding the FTO designation of the PMOI (MeK) by October 1, 2012;

(ii) a real effort to resolve the remaining humanitarian issues at Liberty that materially affect the daily lives of the residents, including sustainable mechanisms to provide water and electricity; and

(iii) support the safety and security of the residents until they relocate to third countries outside of Iraq, in mindfulness of the fact that this universally desired outcome cannot happen expeditiously without delisting.

The MeK leadership’s statement reveals that what matter for her only are propping up the organization and self-regarding. So, the UN and the US government should not be deceived by this terrorist group and have to provide individual rights of the residents of Camp Liberty, and refrain from engaging in political considerations.

Collaboration with Terrorist MKO Shows Real Face of Syrian Rebels

A senior Iranian legislator reiterated that the visits and collaboration between the ringleaders and members of the terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO, also known as MEK, NCR and Collaboration with Terrorist MKO Shows Real Face of Syrian RebelsPMOI) and the so-called Free Syrian Army display the real face and goals of insurgents in Syria.

"The invitation of the deputy commander of the so-called Free Syrian Army, the armed forces who are opposed to the Damascus government, to the terrorist Monafeqin (hypocrites as MKO members are called in Iran) grouplet shows that they themselves are terrorists," member of the parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Ebrahim Aqa-Mohammadi said on Saturday.

He added that the invitation of the Syrian group to the MKO to visit Damascus displays that the terrorist MKO is a role model for the Syrian insurgents.

In related remarks earlier this month, a commander of the so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA) also described the terrorist MKO as a role model for Syrian insurgents.

"Mojahedin-e Khalq is our role model, and we inform them that all doors of our houses are open to them," Malek al-Kurdi, a deputy commander of the so-called Free Syrian Army, said, addressing a joint meeting of the MKO and the ringleaders of the anti-Assad armed rebel groups.

According to the Habilian Association – a human rights group formed of the families of 17,000 Iranian terror victims – his comments came just days after a highly-placed security source told Arabic language Ur news agency that hundreds of terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq members have entered Syria to back the so-called Free Syrian Army.

Another senior official with the insurgent group thanked the MKO terrorist group for its support and solidarity with armed rebels in Syria.

Earlier reports from Syria said security forces have arrested five MKO terrorists along with 35 armed insurgents.

Informed security sources in Syria said that 40 armed elements had been arrested along the country’s borders when they were trying to infiltrate into Syria.

"It has been revealed after interrogations that five of these armed people are members of the MKO," the source said on the condition of the anonymity.

The MKO members also confessed that the terrorist group is training Syrian terrorists on Turkey’s soil and under the support of some Arab and western states.

A Saudi colonel recently apprehended by the Syrian security forces disclosed that the terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization has played a major role in the recent conflicts in Syria.

According to the colonel, a number of 20,000 terrorists, among them a number of MKO members, were due to attack Damascus from four directions and occupy the city after the explosion inside the Syrian national security headquarters in the capital on June 18.

Also, the MKO terrorist group announced earlier this month that it had hosted a number of Syrian dissidents at the headquarters of its ringleader Massoud Rajavi in France.

The attack on Damascus was foiled by the Syrian troops, but the colonel did not have any further details as he had been arrested in the midst of the attack.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country.

Hundreds of people, including members of the security forces, have been killed, when some protest rallies turned into armed clashes.

The government blames outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad.

In October 2011, calm was eventually restored in the Arab state after President Assad started a reform initiative in the country, but Israel, the US and its Arab allies are seeking hard to bring the country into chaos through any possible means. Tel Aviv, Washington and some Arab capitals have been staging various plots in the hope of increasing unrests in Syria.

MKO’s Demands Addressed to The US Administration

Rajavi becomes bold to address the US Administration directly to impose demands

MKO’s self-appointed leader, Maryam Rajavi, announced on 17 August that “As a gesture of goodwill, the residents of Ashraf will commence the 6th convoy of 400 residents from Camp MKO’s Demands Addressed to The US AdministrationAshraf to Camp Liberty on August 23”.

Of course, she has been either assured of some promises or expects to see the already offered encouraging gesture of the State Department that considers cooperation in relocation as a key factor in determining whether the group remains on FTO list actually accomplished. That is what has made her bold enough to address the US Administration directly to impose demands as follows:

The residents anticipate and expect that the completion of convoy 6 will be followed by a public statement by the United States Government that recognizes the cooperation of the Ashraf residents and reiterates continued U.S. commitment to:

(i) the approach on FTO designation and delisting outlined by Secretary Clinton on February 29, 2012, recognizing that the decision of US Court of Appeals for the D.C.
