New Plans by the Cult

As the issue of MKO’s expulsion from Iraq becomes more serious, the bankrupt group of Rajavi has decided to establish its satellite TV unit in a European country.

Following the order of Iraqi officials and coalition forces on the expulsion of MKO from Iraq and banning all propagandistic and political activities of the group in this country, it’s impossible for the group to continue its studio works in Camp Ashraf. As soon as Camp Ashraf is cleared of terrorist elements, TV installations and establishments of the group will be confiscated by the Iraqi government, therefore the officials of Rajavi’s gang have decided to establish new studios in one of Scandinavian countries.

Some sources close to the gang of Rajavi reported that MKO officials’ efforts to establish propagandistic units in France, Sweden and Norway were blocked by the strong opposition of security services in these countries. Particularly in France, Interior Ministry opposed the idea and warned a private company on the issue.

Observers believe that regarding the existence of top secret and sensitive bases of this terrorist organization in Switzerland and the previous activities of the group in this country, the new studios will be established in this European country.

There’s no doubt that establishing these new installations will have high costs for the group (much higher than the costs of producing TV programs), and that’s why the group is holding "solidarity" programs (kind of "Telethon") to collect the money needed for buying the new equipments.

It should be noted that Iraq announced that all properties given to the group by Saddam Hussein are the properties of Iraqis. The government has also ordered that these properties should return to the country’s treasury.

Mujahedin Khalq 's Function

Gone With the Wind

In mid November, the Algeria TV network in one of its political briefings, implicitly referred to the utilization of MKO by the Iraqi government as leverage of pressure against the Islamic Republic. The remark seems to have been mainly made on the Iraqi president’s, Jalal Talibani, earlier distorted comment. Hambastegi site, a MKO-run website, two weeks earlier had quoted Jalal Talibani saying that Iraq could utilize MKO against Iran if it continued its meddling in Iraq’s internal affairs. The next day, in an interview with Iranian correspondents in Iraq, he made it clear that Mojahedin had distorted his statement and once more stressed on the group’s terrorist nature which is a proven sine qua none for its expulsion from Iraq. However, the Algeria TV’s recent position is taken in line with other supporters of MKO and Saddam’s loyal remnants to resurrect Mojahedin’s lost weight and the crucial role they dream it might play in Iraq.

All those who evaluate MKO with an optimistic eye have never developed a good understanding of the group’s faculties, neither in the past nor at the present, when inflating it as a threat against Iran. The function of Mojahedin at least through the past 25 years well indicates that they had availed themselves of given opportunity, Saddam’s overall backing and other reactionary political factions as well as the debilitating, prolonged war and controversies among the countries of the region. Of course, Mojahedin had given a pledge to make up for all protections and backings they had received after assuming power in Iran. In fact, any overt or undeclared investment on MKO proves to be the outcome of a political bargain.

Before Saddam’s fall, MKO were enjoying the best given opportunity; being situated close to Iranian territories with an easy access to cross the borders besides being fully armed and financially protected by Saddam. Besides, at the time it was not yet blacklisted as a terrorist group by the US and other European countries and the light was green to get on with its terrorist deeds. The result? All the group’s achievements were a few failed military operations and ultimately veering from the path of a political campaigner to that of a cult practitioner. As a result, it disappointed all its defenders.

Mojahedin’s new approach to the US and the Westerners’ does not necessarily mean that the group has been endowed with new potentialities to gratify its past protectors; they know the beaten road is the safest. Anybody with an average IQ knows the adverse consequences of working with a terrorist group.

Maryam Rajavi has recurrently offered the capabilities of the disarmed fighters stuck in Camp Ashraf so as to regain the group’s lost legitimacy among its supporters to be reutilized as a potential leverage against Iran for whatever reason. However, for them, MKO is nothing more than a weightless instrument and they prefer not to play the card that is burned. But it remains a good plaything in the margins. MKO is a product whose date has long been expired and do not seem to return any interest if recycled.

Maryam Rajavi wants to import terrorists to Norway

Open Letter to Norway’s Prime Minister

To: Office of the Prime Minister

Akersget 42

PO Box 8001 Dep

0030 Oslo

Dear Jens Stoltenberg,

According to Arabic website nahrainnet.net (see the report below) Maryam Rajavi handed over to some Norwegian MPs a list of MKO members in Camp Ashraf Iraq whom she wants to be given asylum in the west.

It is remarkable that the more Maryam Rajavi comes out of her base in Auvers sur Oise and the more she meets with politicians and media, the more gaffes she gives. For this reason, we wholeheartedly welcome more such meetings and visits.

In this particular case, during her trip to Norway on the private invitation of some non Rajavi-cult members in the Norwegian parliament, Mrs Rajavi apparently handed over a list of individuals who are currently in Camp Ashraf to at least one MP.

Realising that her terrorist base Camp Ashraf will be dismantled in a matter of months if not weeks, Rajavi’s mission is now to retain her most useful, loyal cult members by bringing them to the west. She has tasked some Norwegian MPs with abusing their country’s immigration system in order to import a group of terrorists into Norway and to grant them political asylum.

Clearly, any list of valued members concocted by Maryam Rajavi certainly comprises a list of ‘most wanted’ terrorists for western governments. It is equivalent to a leading member of Hizb ut Tahrir giving a list of Osama bin Laden’s most trusted lieutenants to the UK government and asking for them to be given asylum there. The first thing the Norwegian MP should do is to hand this list not to Norway’s immigration service but to Interpol so that these individuals can be added to the list of MKO members wanted for crimes against humanity and for war crimes.

Members of Parliament should ask why Maryam Rajavi wants these particular people and not others and why she left them in Iraq in 2003 when she and around 300 others escaped the country.

The answer is straightforward if anyone is honest enough to acknowledge it. These precious members whom Rajavi is now trying to rescue from Iraq were her most ruthless repressive agents in Camp Ashraf. It is they who, for three and a half years, have imposed absolute control over the members using Rajavi’s infamous system of psychological coercion, extrajudicial punishments and a constant bombardment of lies, deception and misinformation under conditions of isolation and enslavement.

Does the west want to offer these individuals political asylum?

Yours Sincerely

Massoud Khodabandeh

Article from nahrainnet.net:

A number of press sources in Norway revealed that during her recent visit to Oslo, Maryam Rajavi held two rounds of meetings with Israeli diplomats.

There’s no word on the content of these secret meetings, which were held under tight security measures but some of observers say that Iran’s nuclear program has been possibly on the agenda.

Sources add that in her meeting with a number of Norwegian MPs, Maryam Rajavi asked parliamentarians to pave the way for accepting Iraqi-based MKO members in Norway as refugees.

Observers believe that Rajavi’s visit to Norway was conducted with the green light by the US and it seems that the US has allowed Maryam Rajavi to start efforts to win the support of European countries after they (Americans) couldn’t find a solution for the presence of this group in Iraq.

The only commonality between the US and the MKO (listed by the US as a terrorist organization) is group’s opposition to Iran’s Islamic republic.

MKO was the ally of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. Saddam supported them by all means and gave them money, weapons and land… and even equipped them with heavy weaponries such as tanks and artillery to conduct operations against Iranians.

Members of this organization believe in a mixture of Islam and Marxism. They are militants who were trained to work with light and heavy weapons. They have operated against Iran by wide military operation in 1988 and by assassinating Iranian religious and political figures during 90s. Members of this organization had an active role in suppressing iraqis’ Sha’banieh uprising in 1991 along with Saddam’s Republican Guards.

MKO is currently under the protection of US forces in Camp Ashraf; the protection is against possible attacks by Iraqis.

Meanwhile, there are undeniable evidences indicating continued cooperation between senior US officers and MKO members in Iraq. A representative from the group contacts US embassy in Iraq on daily basis in order to solve the problems of the group and meet their needs.

Most of MKO members speak fluently in local Arabic (of Iraq) and this helps them cover their Iranian identity from Iraqi people. As stated by Iraqi Prime Minister Mr. Nuri al-Maliki, this group interferes in Iraq’s internal affairs. In his speech on June 19, Mr. al-Maliki asked for the expulsion of MKO members from Iraq.

In a press conference at that time, Maliki said: "Mojahedin-e Khalq organization, trying to overthrow the Iranian regime, is widely interfering in Iraq’s political and social affairs."

Pentagon denies employing MKO members by US Army

A report by Congressional Weekly (C.Q) on the employment of MKO members by US army in order to overthrow the Iranian regime was rejected by Pentagon.

In its recent edition, the Weekly quoted a former US official (who asked for anonymity) saying that Secret Agents of US Army were employing the MKO members in Camp Ashraf in Iraq.

According to this former official, employment of MKO members is illegal since the group has been designated as a terrorist organization by US State Department and therefore Pentagon sends them to Israel for training.

Reaction of Pentagon

A former Pentagon spokesman denied this report in an interview with BBC Persian.

"With MKO’s records, we don’t consider it a supporter of human rights and democracy. This organization has also abused its own members," he said.

C.Q has quoted two US officials saying that the US is still seeking regime change in Iran before it can acquire nuclear power.

However, Pentagon spokesman says that the US is not seeking regime change in Iraq.

"The US government follows diplomatic solutions in dealing with Iran’s covert nuclear program and its destabilizing role in the region."

Internal Disagreements

BBC’s correspondent in the Pentagon Adam Brooks says if it’s correct, the report can indicate the existence of disagreements inside the US administration on the issue of Iran.

Donald Rumsfeld, US Defense Minister who resigned recently, expanded US army’s secret activities when he was in power.

According to Brooks, according to US laws, Pentagon has more freedom of activities than CIA in doing secret operations.

"The US army feels that according to the country’s laws, it’s able to perform more covert operations than CIA in order to collect intelligence. The army also feels that CIA is not able to collect operational intelligence needed for global fighting against terrorism," he adds.

Brooks points to the appointment of Robert Gates as the new Defense Minister and says the new minister will try to restrict these covert operations.

Swede MP Comments on MKO

"I assure you that supporting the MKO is not the policy of the EU. This group is an unimportant movement who come to the halls of European parliaments like many other similar groups and this doesn’t mean that Europe is supporting them", said the envoy of Swedish Parliament to Iran, Goran Lindblad, in an interview with the Secretary General of Habilian Association.

According to the website of Habilian, Hasheminejad presented a report on the case of terrorism in Iran and meanwhile criticized some European MPs for what he called "supporting the leaders of MKO". "They support this terrorist group but they should take a look at official reports on the group by the US and their own governments", he said.

Stressing that the terrorist MKO has claimed responsibility for killing people- whose names have been published by Habilian, Secretary General of Habilian Association criticized Norwegian and Belgian MPs for receiving Maryam Rajavi and said: "These meetings were held with the purpose of effecting Iran’s nuclear case but what we expect from Europeans is to quit political views when dealing with the issue of terrorism".

Mr. Goran Lindblad expressed sympathy with the families of terrorism victims in Iran and said:

"I have earlier heard the words of MKO members. They are a mixture of Islam and Marxism. There was also a letter in the favor of the group which I didn’t sign because of their terrorist records. I assure you that supporting this group is not the policy of the EU."

"I am aware that there were mistakes during Maryam Rajavi’s visit to Belgium and Norway, although they were not important. These people are conducting futile efforts. European Union is fully aware of the group’s activities. We have our own evaluation system and the group’s activities have no influence on our decisions. Our views come from experts," he added.

Human Rights Abuse in the MEK

The new Campaign to save Ashraf residents

The family and friends of Somayeh Mohammadi, forcefully kept in Camp Ashraf by MEK for the past ten years, have started a website in a campaign to save her and other Ashraf residents. With the motto of “LET SOMAYEH CHOOSE IN A FREE COUNTRY”, their objective is “Campaign for “The Right to Choose” for Somayeh and others, who are in Ashraf. The home page introduces the campaigners and represents a brief biography of Somayeh Mohammadi.

We are Family and Friends of Somayeh Mohammadi who are deeply concerned about her safety as she has been forcefully kept by Mojahedin-e Khalagh (MEK), Iranian guerrilla fighters in Iraq, for the past ten years. Somayeh is one of the many Canadian and American youth who were recruited to monthly camps when they were teenagers, only to be kept like hostages at the headquarters of the Organization of the Freedom Fighters of the Iranian People, Camp Ashraf, Iraq. This website is to raise awareness about Somayeh’s case and help us organize our campaign to save Somayeh.

Somayeh was only 17 when she met the recruiters of the Iranian opposition group Mojahedin-e Khalagh (MEK) in Toronto. Born into a family with sympathies towards the group and having already lost her favorite aunt in guerrilla fights against Islamic Republic of Iran, Somayeh decided to drop out of her grade 10 high school class at Etobicoke Collegiate Institute and attend a MEK camp in Iraq for a month. Most of all, she was thankful to MEK for offering to pay for her expanses to visit her aunt’s grave. On February, 1998 Somayeh left Toronto to spend a month in what later on turned to be a guerrilla compound called Camp Ashraf, the headquarters of the Organization of the Freedom Fighters of the Iranian People. Somayeh is a now a 25 year old, still living under harsh conditions of Ashraf, despite her parents’ restless tries to bring her back home. Somayeh is one of the many Canadian and American teenagers who were deceitfully recruited by MEK and send to Camp Ashraf, where they were trained for guerilla fights and forced to stay inevitably. In an independent letter sent to the Canadian embassy in Jordan, Somayeh asks for the Canadian government’s help to get her back to Toronto. Later however, she was forced by MEK in a court hearing to denounce her family and state that she wants to stay with MEK ‘holy worriers’, now a banned terrorist organization under Canadian law since 2005.

Somayeh’s life has been in great danger in the past 10 years and she is defiantly threatened to comply with MEK’s rules. Her story is very damaging to MEK and as a result the organization does not allow Somayeh to leave camp Ashraf in order to contact or meet with the Canadian Officials in private or in a 3rd party country. This has further complicated her case, as she officially told an immigration judge over satellite phone that she does not wish to return to Canada. Her family and friends know this to be a testimony made under pressure and therefore devoid of any truth. Somayeh is kept like a hostage at Camp Ashraf and must be treated like one.

Iran refugee claimant wants end to 21-year wait

OTTAWA — It’s not the accusation that he once belonged to an Iranian terrorist organization that most torments Hassan Samimifar. It’s the wait.

Since coming to Canada as a refugee 21 years ago, Samimifar has waited for a verdict on his immigration status.

Soon, he could be deported back to Iran for alleged links to the Mujahedin-e-Khalq, considered a terrorist organization by the Canadian government. Part of him will simply be glad for an end to the waiting.

"When a person is convicted of a murder and he will be executed, the anticipation of death is sometimes harder than death itself," Samimifar, 47, said this week.

"The best time of my life to establish a good life — it’s gone. What makes me angry is that I can’t get those years back."

Samimifar was born in Tehran and served in the Iranian navy. After the Islamic revolution of 1979, he moved to India to study science. While in university, he attended lectures and demonstrations opposing the regime of Ayatollah Khomeini. During this time, the Canadian government alleges, he joined MEK, a Marxist group seeking to overthrow the Iranian government.

Ottawa says MEK espouses the use of force to purge Western influence from Iranian society, and has forged links with Saddam Hussein and the Taliban.

Samimifar admits to "sympathizing" with a student group with links to the MEK, but denies ever being a MEK member.

In 1985, Samimifar arrived in Canada and claimed refugee status.

The following year, he was convicted for causing a disturbance after an altercation with an immigration officer at a Toronto airport, as well as for breaching his bail conditions.

Samimifar insists he has had no contact with MEK since he came to Canada.

An immigration hearing is scheduled for early next month, and he could be deported sometime next year.

Spokespersons for the Justice Department and Citizenship and Immigration Canada declined to comment, noting the case is still before the courts.

Victims of Human Rights Abuses

According to MKO’s TV, INTV, Lord Corbett of Castle Vale in an interview reiterated that 330 British MPs and 160 members of the House of Lords emphasized the political refugee status of MKO in Iraq. The interview came after his addressing participants in the sit-in outside the UNHCR headquarters which has been going on for just over 100 days since August.

The sit-in is an implement to coerce the UNHCR to reaffirm the refugee status of the MKO members in Iraq. The UNHCR has so far resisted the organization’s demands for certain reasons and since the residents of Camp Ashraf are victims of human rights abuses. MKO has refused to allow the international humanitarian bodies help the residents and has rejected recognition of their rights under Article 116 of the Fourth Geneva Convention which states:

Every internee shall be allowed to receive visitors, especially near relatives, at regular intervals and as frequently as possible. As far as is possible, internees shall be permitted to visit their homes in urgent cases, particularly in cases of death or serious illness of relatives.

If Lord Corbett and his colleagues are really concerned about the safety of the residents of Camp Ashraf, they should call to guarantee the full implementation of the residents’ legal rights rather than campaigning for securing MKO’s political refugee status.
