Iraqi police announced that he was most likely killed by a terrorist group.

In early July, Hassan Ali had issued the order for the arrest of Massoud Rajavi the gang leader of the Mojahedin Khalq Organisation (aka MKO, MEK, NCRI, PMOI, Rajavi cult, Saddam’s private army), and about 40 other members. He had asked Interpol to place Rajavi on the international list of wanted criminals.

Maryam Rajavi and Amir Kazemi who are believed to be the political and military heads of the organisation are among the list of people with international arrest warrants. According to unverified information, Rajavi, his wife and his deputy Kazemi are now living in France.

According to the report, Hassan Ali was killed in front of his house in Baghdad in a terrorist operation carried out last Wednesday.

Hossein Ali, a member of Iraqi parliament and expert in terrorist organisations operating in the region said the murder of the Judge of the Supreme Criminal Court was carried out only a week after he issued the arrest warrants against the leaders of this group. The organisation should be investigated and some of the individuals have to be interrogated.

It is worth mentioning that the Mojahedin Khalq started in 1965 as a group opposing the regime of the Shah. Their aim was to create a Socialist Islamic Republic in Iran. The Mojahedin Khalq welcomed the Islamic revolution in 1979 but soon moved into opposition and moved back to the same terrorist activities they had started in the early 70s.

Facing the effective security forces in Iran, the leaders of the Mojahedin Khalq were forced to go to France and from there in 1986 to Iraq. In Iraq, the Mojahedin Khalq organised an armed group, well equipped with armoured vehicle and helicopters. They frequently attacked Iran from Iraq.
After the defeat of Iraq in the war, Iran became the only remaining enemy of the Americans and British in the region. This is when the Mojahedin were used. The Americans did not dismantle their camp in Iraq even though it managed to disarm them.

It was an obvious calculation. In the case that the situation would deteriorate, the Americans were planning to use the Mojahedin Khalq in their fight against Tehran. From the other side, they had officially (ostensibly) placed the Mojahedin Khalq Organisation on their terrorism list for their cooperation with Saddam Hussein. European countries had also followed the same line.

In this way, America and its European partners kept the Mojahedin Khalq for a rainy day and made sure that they have an open hand. It would be the case that either they would be used against Iran or would be handed over to Iran (for a price).

With the passage of time it became clear that the first choice has been taken (by Americans). Until 2005 Neo conservatives in America and some British politicians who were following American Neo conservatives for regime change in Iran supported the Mojahedin Khalq. Then in 2006 a European court decided that keeping the Mojahedin in the list of terrorist organisations and freezing their bank accounts was not right. In 2007 Britain was the first country which, according to a court ruling, took the MKO off its list of terrorist organisations. The European Union followed Britain shortly and in 2008 a European court ruled that keeping MKO on the list was not just.

The Ministry of Interior on Saturday announced it had received the arrest warrants issued by the Iraqi High Tribunal against 38 leaders and members of the Mojahedin-e Khalq (aka MKO, MEK, PMOI) on charges of involvement in crimes against humanity. A source in the Criminal Court said the MKO who are wanted had been involved with Iraqi security forces in quelling the uprising of March 1991.

Aydan Khaled, Under Secretary of the Ministry of Interior for Police Affairs said in interview with Alsumaria News, "The Ministry received the warrants from the High Court against 38 leaders and the Mojahedin accused of committing crimes against humanity."

According to Khaled, "The Interior Ministry circulated judicial orders to all police stations in Baghdad for their implementation and investigation". He noted that "the Ministry does not have complete information on the whereabouts of the elements of the MKO wanted for arrest, whether they are inside or outside Iraq."

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Police Affairs said that "the ministry had no statistics or information for the pursuit of elements of the Organization for crimes at this time", pointing out at the same time "the breaches of law by the elements of the Organization in Ashraf camp included attacks on Iraqi police officers and prevention of families of members of the organization coming from Iran to visit their children and their families within Camp Ashraf ".

The violence which broke out in Camp Ashraf which was demilitarized after the transfer of responsibility for camp security from American troops to Iraq in July 2009, has led to the deaths and injuries of nearly three hundred members of the Mojahedin organization, including 25 women, with 110 of the Iraqi security forces among the wounded and dead…
It is noteworthy that in late January of last year, 2009, the Mojahedin had been taken off the European Union list of terrorist organizations. The Iranian government strongly condemned the resolution, and the Government of Iraq has long tried to close the camp and find a solution to relocate the residents inside, either through return to Iran or through transfer to places deep in the desert or to a third country, but things remained the same.

For his part, a source in the High Criminal Court said that "the arrest warrants issued against 38 of the MKO members comes against the background of charges of killings and torture against Iraqi citizens in 1991."

The source said, in an interview with Alsumaria News, that the Mojahedin is accused of killing thousands of Iraqi citizens in coordination with the Iraqi security forces to suppress the uprising of March 1991, indicating that the investigations carried out proved the participation of members of the MKO in quelling the rebelling southern provinces and the north. "

MKO hostile role in killing the opponents of former Iraqi regime

Pointing to the MKO long record of criminal acts in Iraq, Member of Iraqi National Coalition stated that MKO played a prominent role in massacre of Iraqi Kurds and repression of Shiites Intifada as well as killing many other opponents of the former Iraqi regime.

In an interview with the database of Habilian Association (families of terror victims in Iran) and regarding the abilities of terrorist groups in Iraq, Nahede al-Tamimi said: Although the Iraqi elections was held in a relatively peaceful and secure ambiance, yet it should be acknowledged that some terrorist groups are somehow able to instigate criminal operations against the Iraqi people .

Pointing out the role of terrorist groups in creating unrest in Iraq, the Iraqi politician continued: some terrorist groups have taken advantage of the lack of new government in order to bring about terrorist operations in Iraq and this way affect the public opinion and interrupt the process of government formation.

Al-Tamimi called MKO the tame soldiers of Baath Party and said: MKO and the leftovers of the Baath Party do their best to make obstacles on the way of establishing an integrated government in Iraq via preventing the Iraqi army and security forces form acting in northern parts of Iraq.

The Iraqi political activists continued: the MKO interests in Iraq are directly dependent on the Ba’ath party restoration in the country while they have committed numerous crimes in Iraq, among which I could mention their key role in suppressing the Shiites uprisings in 1991 and massacre of Iraqi Kurds as well as killing many other dissidents to the former Ba’athist regime.
Considering the MKO argument for being protected persons and political refugees al-Tamimi said: There is no reason for MKO to stay in Iraq while the Iraqi constitution strictly prohibits the presence of any terrorist groups on its soil. Besides MKO could not possibly enjoy the refugee status due to their being a military force.

Then al-Tamimi criticized the US support for this terrorist cult and said: the Iraqi government insists on the expulsion of MKO from Iraq; but America continues to support them and prevents them from being deported from Iraq, besides no country in the world is ready to accept MKO due to their long history of atrocities and violence.

Referring to the necessity of MKO expulsion from Iraq, member of Iraqi journalists’ society also said: The only solution to MKO expulsion from Iraq is the US complete withdrawal from Iraq.

The US military forces in Iraq are training 150 members of a terrorist organization at a military base in the war-ravaged country, informed sources say.

The sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Press TV that the select group of terrorists, all longtime members of the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO), has been moved from their base in Camp Ashraf near Baghdad to a US base in central Iraq.

The trainings are taking place at Camp Taji, a military installation used by the coalition forces. The base is located near the central town of Ramadi, capital of Anbar province.

The US plans to dispatch the trained MKO members as secret agents across the border and into Iran, with plans to carry out terror acts, according to the sources.

The Iraq-based group is listed as a terrorist organization by much of the international community and aside from conducting numerous acts of terror in Iran, is also known for its full-fledged support for former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein in suppressing the 1991 Shia uprisings in southern Iraq and the massacre of Iraqi Kurds.

Iraq begins top MKO members’ arrest

Iraq’s Supreme Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for MKO leaders Masoud Rajavi and Maryam Rajavi.

Iraq has begun an operation to arrest 38 members of the terrorist Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) and hand them over to judiciary officials.

"We have received a letter from Iraq’s Supreme Criminal Court which contains the names of 38 senior members of the MKO," Fars News Agency quoted Iraqi Deputy Interior Minister Ayden Khalid Qader as saying on Sunday.

The letter has called on the Interior Ministry to begin an immediate operation to arrest the criminals and hand them over to the judiciary, he added.

Earlier in July, Iraq’s Supreme Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for the leaders of the terrorist Mujahedin Khalq Organization, including Masoud Rajavi and his wife Maryam Rajavi.
The warrants require the Iraqi Interior Ministry and the Interpol to arrest and hand over the wanted figures to Iraq’s Criminal Court.

Founded in the 1960s, the MKO has masterminded a slew of terrorist operations in Iran and Iraq, killing thousands of people and wounding many more.

The group is especially notorious for taking sides with former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein during the 1980-1988 war Iraqi-imposed on Iran.

The Iraq-based MKO is listed as a terrorist group by much of the international community.

An Iraqi court ordered the arrest of 39 members of an exiled Iranian opposition group, accusing them of crimes against humanity in helping Saddam Hussein to crush a revolt almost two decades ago, a judge said on Sunday.

The 39 are members of the People’s Mujahideen Organisation of Iran (PMOI), a guerrilla movement opposed to the Iranian government. It sided with the toppled Iraqi dictator, a Sunni Muslim, during the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s but has denied helping Saddam to crack down on long-oppressed majority Shi’ites and ethnic Kurds.

Iran, Iraq and the United States consider the PMOI a terrorist organisation and the now Shi’ite-led Iraqi government has been trying to get it to vacate a base north of Baghdad where around 3,500 of its members have lived for 20 years.

"An arrest warrant has been issued against 39 leaders and members of the organisation including the PMOI’s head Massoud Rajavi, due to evidence that confirms they committed crimes against humanity," said Judge Mohammed Abdul-Sahib, a spokesman of the Iraqi High Tribunal.
Rajavi’s wife Maryam, leader of the French-based National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), the PMOI’s political wing, was also included in the warrant, Abdul Sahib added.

"The 39 Iranian suspects were involved with the former Iraqi security forces in suppressing the 1991 (Shi’ite) uprising against the former Iraqi regime and the killing of Iraqi citizens," he said.
The PMOI began as an Islamist leftist group opposed to Iran’s late Shah, but fell out with Shi’ite clerics who took power after the 1979 revolution. Mujahideen guerrillas carried out attacks against Iranian targets. Iran executed a large number of PMOI prisoners at the end of the Iran-Iraq war.

Last year, Iraq said it wanted the Iranian opposition exiles based at Camp Ashraf north of Baghdad to leave the country. Iraqi forces took over responsibility for the camp on Jan. 1, 2009 from U.S. troops, who had been guarding it.

Violence erupted there last year when Iraqi security forces tried to enter the camp. At least seven exiles were killed.

Mahdi Uqbaai, a spokesman of the PMOI, said the court was pressured by the government to order the arrests.

"This is a politically motivated decision and it’s the last gift presented from the government of (Prime Minister) Nuri al-Maliki to the Iranian government," said Uqbaai.

The Iraqi High Tribunal was set up after the 2003 invasion to prosecute crimes against humanity and genocide committed during Saddam’s rule. Any case against the PMOI would be its first against foreigners for Saddam-era crimes. (Editing by Rania El Gamal; editing by David Stamp)

"Given the crimes of this grouplet in creating insecurity at Iran-Iraq borders and the damages they have inflicted on the two nations, our government and nation and also the Iraqi parliament and government all want their (the MKO members) expulsion from Iraq," Mehman-Parast said in his weekly press conference in Tehran.

"Preparatory measures have already been adopted and we hope that this (the expulsion of MKO members) will happen at the earliest," he added.

Reminding that Iraq’s Constitution bans activity of all terrorist groups, he expressed the hope that the demand of the Iraqi nation, parliament and government for the expulsion of the MKO members would soon receive a positive response.

Mehman-Parast’s remarks came days after a top criminal court in Iraq issued arrest warrants for the leaders of the anti-Iran terrorist group.

Arrest warrants have been issued by the Iraqi Supreme Criminal Court for the ringleaders of the Mojahedin-e Khalq terrorist group, Massoud Rajavi, Maryam Rajavi, Amir Kazemi and 35 other MKO members, Habilian Association, an Iran-based human rights group, quoted an Iraqi daily as saying.

"Based on article 12 of the law of Iraq’s supreme criminal court, the Iraqi interior ministry and the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) are now tasked with arresting and handing the wanted individuals over to the court," Habilian said quoting the Iraqi Motamar daily.

The report also mentioned that Iraq’s security forces are now in full control of the MKO’s main headquarters and training camp in the Diyala province. Camp Ashraf (now the Camp of New Iraq) was controlled by the US forces from 2003 to 2010.

The MKO has been in Iraq’s Diyala province since the 1980s.
Iraqi security forces took control of the training base of the MKO at Camp Ashraf – about 60km (37 miles) north of Baghdad – earlier this year and detained dozens of the members of the terrorist group.

The Iraqi authority also changed the name of the military center from Camp Ashraf to the Camp of New Iraq.

The MKO is behind a slew of assassinations and bombings inside Iran, a number of EU parliamentarians said in a letter last year in which they slammed a British court decision to remove the MKO from the British terror list. The EU officials also added that the group has no public support within Iran because of their role in helping Saddam Hussein in the Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-1988).

The group, founded in the 1960s, blended elements of Islamism and Stalinism and participated in the overthrow of the US-backed Shah of Iran in 1979. Ahead of the revolution, the MKO conducted attacks and assassinations against both Iranian and Western targets.

The group started assassination of the citizens and officials after the revolution in a bid to take control of the newly established Islamic Republic. It killed several of Iran’s new leaders in the early years after the revolution, including the then President, Mohammad Ali Rajayee, Prime Minister, Mohammad Javad Bahonar and the Judiciary Chief, Mohammad Hossein Beheshti who were killed in bomb attacks by MKO members in 1981.

The group fled to Iraq in 1986, where it was protected by Saddam Hussein and where it helped the Iraqi dictator suppress Shiite and Kurd uprisings in the country.

The terrorist group joined Saddam’s army during the Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-1988) and helped Saddam and killed thousands of Iranian civilians and soldiers during the US-backed Iraqi imposed war on Iran.

Mr. Alamdar Shaygan joined his family

Mr. Shaygan, The most recent escapee from the notorious terrorist cult of MKO, returned home and joined his family on 4th July,2010 after twenty two years of membership in the organization, reported Nejat Society Fars Office.

Mr. Alamdar Shaygan, escaped the MKO terror group on 24th April, 2010 after 22 years, and joined the families behind the Ashraf gates.

Mr. Shaygan was welcomed warmly by his family who had been awaiting his return for many years.

Nejat Society congratulates Mr. Shaygan and his family for their reunion after long years of separation.
