Iraqis call for MKO expulsion

In a conference in Tikrit in northwest of Baghdad, attended by a number of local officials, tribal leaders, the Iraqis called on the government to put pressure on the organization to leave the country as early as possible.

The participants called the presence of the MKO camp on Iraq soil unconstitutional stressing that the crimes against the Iraqi people by the MKO members are unforgettable.

Many here in this conference are of the opinion that Iraq will never see stability as long as MKO members are in the country.

The MKO is listed as a terrorist group by much of the international community.

Founded in the 1960s, the group has masterminded many terrorist operations in Iran and Iraq .
The group is especially notorious in Iran for having sided with former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein during the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war.

The MKO has been in Iraq’s Diyala province since the 1980s.

Erlier this year the MKO members attacked the Iraqi security forces who were attempted to enter the camp to open a new police station.

Tens of Iraqi security elements were injured in these clashes.

Lobbying for MKO terrorists

Daniella Pletka of the Enterprise Blog wrote an article on MKO’s lobby in the United States and its lobbying efforts to get support for its removal from FTO list of US Department of State. Her illuminating post on MKO terrorists’ lobby in her country, as usual encountered with a deluge of Ad hominem attacks by MKO agents.

In her post Ms. Pletka offers evidences on MKO cult-like nature and dictatorial system:

The Hill reported on Sunday that the U.S.-designated terrorist group the Mujahedin e Khalq (aka the People’s Mujahedin of Iran, aka the National Council of Resistance) has acquired lobbying help from Democratic powerhouse Akin Gump to support its removal from the State Department’s Foreign Terrorist Organization list.
To be fair to Akin Gump, plenty of GOPers have taken up cudgels for the MEK, though the direct cash payoff to them is less clear.
The MEK has for years lobbied aggressively via a myriad of front groups to be taken off the terrorism list. Shrewd lobbyists, they have moved well beyond their street corner and airports campaign (“support Iran’s starving children”) to “grassroots” organizations and hired guns. And I get why they don’t want to be on the terrorism list; it comes with a spate of sanctions and restrictions that are odious to most groups no matter their intentions. But what of their partisans? Do they know the MEK? If not, check out Michael Rubin’s piece on the MEK or this FBI report from 2004, the list of murdered Americans, the money laundering, the cult-like behavior, the … terrorism. Is it all a lie? Has the MEK seen the light? Or is this a way of trying to oust the foul regime in Tehran?

She ends the post by posing some controversial questions:
And here’s another question: Where’s the FBI and the Justice Department? A terrorist group is lobbying in the United States. It’s paying top political fixers to make its case. It’s paying speaking fees to former government officials. Where’s the money from? How’s it being transferred? And would it be okay for Hezbollah to do this? Al Qaeda?

Following the fallacious attacks by sympathizers of the cult of Rajavi, Danielle Pletka posts another piece to respond on June 16. She confirms her arguments by addressing the commenters individually:

Yesterday, I wrote a post on the Mojahedin E Khalq, a U.S. designated terrorist group that has, through supporters, hired a big Dem lobbying firm to help them get off the State Department’s terrorism list. And as expected, I got a deluge of comments to the post. Here are some highlights: Apparently, according to commenter CNGS, some “intelligent folks” get that the MEK, a “group with a shinning [sic] record of close t[o] a half century of struggle against the Sheik and the Shah, having irrigated the tree of liberty with the blood of more than 120,000 martyrs,” is the best alternative to the mullahs now ruling Iran. After all, according to AH, the “MEK was put on terrorist list because of some lobbyist in Washington.”
… as for the lobbying that got the MEK on the list, all I can say is that they should have been on the list years before. Killing Americans in terrorist attacks merits a listing. Read the FBI report. I linked to it yesterday, here it is again. READ IT.

Then there were some other comments, in Alexgeorge1’s vein: He thinks that we “neocons better answer for the debacle you created in Iraq, handing that country to the terrorist mullahs of Iran on a silver platter.” Apparently, I also do wrong to reference my colleague Michael Rubin, whom Shahab accuses of writing “yellow journalism at best.” A few just helpfully offered “shame” on me.

Some comments in response; take them in the vein of helpful hints to the policy and etiquette impaired:

—Calling me names isn’t going to win me (or anyone) over to your cause.

—Organizations that used to be headquartered in Baghdad taking money from Saddam Hussein should probably shy away from the topic of Iraq. It might appear you miss dear old Saddam.

—Suggestions that the MEK was put on the terrorism list to appease Iran are well placed, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be on the terrorism list.

—Just because well-known people have taken up the cudgels for the MEK doesn’t whitewash the stain of American blood nor address the question of the group’s own record of Islamism, cult-like behavior, murder, terrorism, or money-laundering. I note that no one denied those points in my original piece.

Blind support for MEK terrorists damages American diplomacy

There is something fundamentally wrong about the way the United States views the rest of the world and interacts with it. I would cite two incidents from the past week: In a Tuesday press conference at the White House with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, President Obama fielded a series of questions on the US economy’s impending “double dip recession” and other domestic issues, leaving Merkel standing by and looking completely useless. I have never quite understood why the American President somehow believes that a press conference to introduce a visiting head of state is an appropriate forum for questions totally unrelated to the bilateral relationship or the visitor. It smacks of an arrogance that is completely unrestrained by either common sense or civility.

On Friday Congressman Dana Rohrabacher of California led a delegation from the House Foreign Affairs Committee in a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki. During an hour and 40 minute meeting, Rohrabacher informed al Maliki that his committee is investigating the killing by Iraqi troops of 35 Iranian dissidents in April. Rohrabacher called it a likely crime against humanity. Rohrabacher also asked Iraq to repay some of the costs of the 2003 US invasion and the subsequent occupation. An Iraqi government spokesman responded that Iraq would pay not “a cent” and the Foreign Ministry then demanded that the delegation leave Iraq. The Iranians in question are members of the Mujaheddin e Khalq (MEK), an Iranian terrorist group that found shelter in Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. It has been listed as a terrorist organization by the US government for the past ten years and has been implicated in the killing of Americans.

It seems that Rohrabacher and some fellow wingnuts to include Ileana Ros Lehtinen, the committee chairman, have a soft spot in their hearts for MEK because it is an enemy of the regime in Tehran. They have tried a number of times to get it delisted as a terrorist organization. Not coincidentally, the congressmen who are fond of MEK are also passionate supporters of Israel. My enemy’s enemy…

The point is that Rohrabacher and Obama fail to be guided by the Bobby Burns dictum to see ourselves as others see us. What Iraqis, whose country was invaded and in large part destroyed by the US, see is an arrogant and ignorant moron wrapped in congressional hubris who has done grave damage to them and is now asking that they should pay for it and even be indicted for war crimes when so many American crimes went unpunished. Germans watching the Obama-Merkel performance will understand that the US President was speaking to a media crowd that is so poorly informed and self-absorbed that they could not even come up with any decent questions for a respected and important visitor.

The MEK to launch Armed Struggle

MKO, June 20, anniversary of collapse of a dream

June is the month of significant dates in Mujahedin Khalq Organization’s history. The most important one is June 20th, 1981 when MKO’s coup d’état against Islamic Republic failed. According to MKO’s propaganda June 20 signifies the day the group declared armed struggle against Islamic government.

Fighting for power after the Islamic Revolution led some of opposition movements to resort to violence instead of using peaceful and civil opposition. In June 1981,Rajavi instigated a number of dedicated teenagers and youth to launch an armed uprising against the newly established Islamic government which was in its bad days at war with Iraq. The so-called uprising ended with the arrest, death and execution of a large number of youth and eventually the failure of Rajavi’s promised victory.

Since then, armed struggle was declared as MKO’s strategy to fight against IR and a wave of assassination of Iranian authorities started. MKO was supposed to overthrow the Islamic Republic in a short time after that date, according to Massoud Rajavi.

Rajavi’s dream didn’t come true and today thirty years after declaration of armed struggle Rajavi is disappeared and his organization is stuck in a cul-de-sac because it has to renounce violence in order to get removed from the list of foreign terrorist organizations of US State Department.

June 20, actually signifies the start of MKO’s political isolation because their armed act against their own people while they were under the protection of their enemy Saddam Hussein was condemned as a treason by Iranians.

Despite the disastrous failure of June 1981, Rajavi the leader of MKO Cult of personality never admitted the failure. His totalitarian doctrine never let members question about of what really happened on June 20th 1981. Questioning that day is a taboo.

Disaster of June was the consequence of Rajavi’s mistaken analysis of Iranian political and social conditions.

The Rajavis took NCR to Iraq in June 1986 .Indeed, the MKO officially became Saddam Hussein’s mercenary.

The dark history of MKO remembers another disastrous treason. Chehel Cheragh was a joint Operation of MKO and Iraqi army headed by Massoud and Maryam Rajavi. In the operation which also took place in June 1988 was supposed to reach Mehran (a city in the West of Iran) and then Tehran, as Rajavi had promised. He couldn’t keep his promise!

Rajavi didn’t confess his previous mistakes but he repeated them again when he launched his Eternal Light Operation across Iranian border in 1987 and led another large number of members to death.

June signifies another dishonorable date in MKO’s history too. Following the arrest of Maryam Rajavi by French Police in her base in the Parisian suburb Auver Sur d’Oise MKO leaders made members commit suicide as an act of complaint. Some members of the group set themselves on fire in European cities. Their act resulted in several disabilities and two deaths. For instance, a 17 year old Iranian-Canadian girl, Neda Hassani burned herself alive in front of French embassy in London on June 23th, 2003.

Regarding that June is the symbol of tragedy in MKO history, you may wonder why MKO celebrates June 20th anniversary every year and calls the date as the start of resistance against Islamic regime although they claim that they have renounced violence since June 2001 when they launched a mortar attack at President Khatami’s office in Tehran.

It’s been thirty years now that MKO’s propaganda campaign uses this date as an occasion to wear a mask of democracy and misleadingly represent itself as the Iranian’s voice.

Once more MKO propaganda is calling for a gathering in Paris on June 18. The so-called international gathering is attended by Afghans, Kurds, Turkish refugees who are eager to have a shelter and warm food for free for a day. They are also paid by MKO from 30 to 50 Euros for their presence at MKO event, having fun waving MKO flag.

The bankrupt MKO leaders also hire some retired politicians to speak at the event and advocate the group’s cause which allegedly is bringing democracy and freedom and human rights in Iran although June itself is the symbol of violation of human rights and cult-like practices!

MKO celebrates the start of its treasonous armed struggle meanwhile it renounces violence and armed strategy. What should we believe? How can they conceal their infamous past? This is the dilemma MKO has been plunged into for at least the last twenty years.

The crucial point here is that MKO’s existence has been blended with violence and cult-like human rights abuse and their claim for renouncing violence can never be true.

Iran: US human rights stance contrary to their support for MKO

Iran’s Judiciary chief has criticized Western countries for imposing their viewpoints of human rights on other states by using their “media domination.”

“There is a contradiction between the words and actions of Western countries on human rights and they impose their viewpoints of human rights on other states by media domination,” said Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani on Tuesday, Mehr news agency reported.

He added that the US and other Western nations “repeat their human rights allegations” against other countries in an attempt to destabilize them.

Ayatollah Larijani noted that the US and its Western allies, in contradiction to their claims of human rights, support a number of regional regimes that have no regard for human rights and democracy in their countries.

The Iranian Judiciary chief also criticized the West’s support for certain terrorist groups such as Mujahedeen Khalq Organization (MKO) “that clearly violated human rights and killed many people.”

The MKO is listed as a terrorist organization by much of the international community and has carried out numerous acts of terror and violence against Iranian civilians and government officials.

The Iraq-based group is also known to have cooperated with executed Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein in suppressing 1991 uprisings in southern Iraq and the massacre of Iraqi Kurds.

The European Union removed the MKO from its list of terrorist organizations in 2009.

In 2010, the European Parliament also issued a declaration and urged the US to remove the MKO from Washington’s list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations. The MKO, which has been on the US terror list since 1997, filed a petition against the blacklisting in 2008.

The MeK Badly Needs Rebranding Makeover

On May 13, The Wall Street Journal published an article, MEK Banned Terror Group Seeks U.S. Rebirth, on MKO propaganda Campaign, in the United States, that hopes “to convey the image of a popular, democratic alternative to Tehran’s ruling clerics.”

Keith Johnson, Jay Salamon and Scott Greenberg, disclosed in the WSJ article that American supporters of MKO were paid high fees to speak at the group’s events to advocate for its cause.

The article also suggested that the campagne for delisting MKO is the result of a fact that was revealed by anti-secrecy group Wikileaks which reported that the then-secretary of State Condoleezza Rice wrote in a 2009 internal cable:”The most powerful myth the MEK has been able to lodge in minds of most supporters is that they are the democratic alternative to the current regime in Tehran.” She also referred to the MEK’s “terrorism and Cult-like repression of its members.”

This May13 article on WSJ resulted in the publication of a letter by MKO’s counselor for its delisting efforts, Andrew Frey on the very newspaper. Mr. Frey accused the article of conveying “misleading impressions” regarding MKO. He claimed that the group “seeks a democratic, secular, nonnuclear Iran”, justifying his partners’ support for a terrorist designated group as a position not inimical to their national security interests.

Following the publication of Mr. Frey’s letter on May 24, Bart Blessing of Foster City, California replied him by a letter titled “The MEK badly needs Rebranding Makeover.”

The writer of the letter offers solution to supporters of MKO in order to succeed in selling their cause. He also notices the difficult path they have to take to purify the background of MKO,” like trying to get opium qualified as “all natural” :

Regarding Andrew Frey’s letter”It’s Time to Take the MeK off the U.S. Terrorist List”(May 24): The solution to the Mujahedin e-Khalq problem is Marketing 101. Rename the organization”Democratic Party of Iran”(or something like that), and adopt a charter respectful of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Continuing to promote yourself as”mujahedin”to local hot-heads while renouncing violence for appeal in the West is an uphill battle, like trying to get opium qualified as”all natural.”

Maryam Rajavi threatens to massacre the hostages at Camp Ashraf

Addressing a symposium of like-minded guests in the European Parliament on May 25, Maryam Rajavi, second-in-command of the Mojahedin-e Khalq cult, issued a stark threat to humanitarian agencies and the Government of Iraq.

What Rajavi is really threatening is that the MEK leaders will massacre their own people if any external agency should attempt to interfere with the MEK’s totalitarian control over the camp’s residents.

"Any forced displacement in Iraq would be a prelude to a massacre of the inhabitants of Ashraf. And I warn the international community and the United States, they would be responsible for the consequences," said Maryam Rajavi.

Rajavi’s threat carefully omits to identify who will perform this massacre. By referring to the clashes of April 8, when MEK Special Forces violently resisted a pre-agreed mission by the Iraqi army to legally reclaim land from the north of the camp, she deliberately implies that the Iraqi army would “massacre” the residents.

This is certainly not the case however. What Rajavi is really threatening is that the MEK leaders will massacre their own people if any external agency should attempt to interfere with the MEK’s totalitarian control over the camp’s residents.

Her real message is that the residents of Camp Ashraf are being held as hostages and the MEK leaders will kill them if anyone tries to rescue them.

It must be understood that the threat is real. The MEK leaders Massoud and Maryam Rajavi have a history of shedding the blood of ordinary MEK members for political gain. In 2003 two MEK members died in Paris and London after setting themselves on fire to satisfy the needs of the cult. MEK leader Massoud Rajavi has already threatened a Jonestown-like mass suicide to ward off any attempt to close Camp Ashraf.

Rajavi’s threat comes only days after the cult’s Western backers sent out a flurry of contradictory messages about the future of the camp’s residents. Clearly, MEK supporter Struan Stevenson was not party to the MEK’s latest tactic when he suggested the group could simply be moved to Europe. It is only the cult leaders who can order these killings.

West uses MKO terrorists to intimidate Press TV in London

UK paper calls Press TV ‘enemy within’
Some British right-wing media, including a pro-Zionist newspaper, plan to aid Ofcom to mount pressure on Press TV, in line with the UK government’s measures against the Iranian English-language news channel.

Media giant Rupert Murdoch’s newspaper, The Sunday Times, is among the media supporting Ofcom plan to put more pressure on Press TV.
In an article published on the paper, they tried to demonstrate a complete one sided image of Press TV to distort the facts for prompting more pressure on the Iranian news channel.
The writer of the article, considering himself as a judge and before giving any facts, described Press TV as the “domestic enemy,” accusing the Iranian news channel of broadcasting unfair images of Britain.

Dipesh Gadher, 36, who became the deputy news editor at the paper in 2008, has accused Press TV of adapting non-professional news-writing regulations.
This is while Gadher has ignored the definite rules of free and fair journalism. He could not give any documented facts for his claims against Press TV, and could not even name those he claimed to be the Foreign Ministry’s officials.

Presenting fake statistics and distorting the documented facts on Press TV are visible all through his politically motivated article.
The administrative documents could easily dismiss Gadher’s claims that Press TV’s British presenter George Galloway is paid 25,000 pounds a month and that Press TV Ltd — a firm which makes programs for the channel — had £2.7 million in savings.

Gadher claimed that Press TV’s programs are politically motivated and risk the reputation of the British government.

Press TV’s coverage of student protests in Britain has shed light on the dark, undemocratic aspect of the British political structure, especially the hereditary rule of the royals.
The article has also criticized Press TV over a public opinion poll about the royal wedding. The results of the poll revealed that 65 percent of people felt the royal wedding was an unnecessary official expense imposed on tax-payers.

Gadher has ignored the fact that by criticizing the poll, it has criticized those Press TV readers who have participated in it, simply for expressing their opinions.
The US State Department cables published by WikiLeaks demonstrate that the British Foreign Office told the US embassy in London back in February 2010 that it was "exploring ways to limit the operations of… Press TV."

The WikiLeaks documents revealed that the British authorities reconsidered their decision in the face of legal difficulties at the time but were still looking at other means to address the issue, including the possible use of new anti-Iran sanctions to justify such measures.

This comes as British authorities have failed in their efforts to point to any legitimate problems with the quality or content of programs produced by Press TV. The Wikileaks report clearly shows that the British government has got no other way but to seriously disrupt press TV’s activities in Britain.

Last month, the National Westminster Bank, Commercial Banking office froze Press TV Ltd’s business account without any prior notice, claiming the accounts would be permanently closed in February 2011.

The staff at Press TV Ltd have been intimidated and threatened by members of the Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) terrorist group in London. Yet, the British government has turned a blind eye to such incidents and may have even facilitated them as the MKO are continuing their threats.

Iran: Americans should stop using Mojahedin Khalq terrorists

The official pronouncement of Osama bin Laden’s death by the US president means that Washington has no more excuse to keep its military buildup in the region, a senior Iranian official reiterated.

"Now that they (the Americans) claim they have managed to kill the leader of the al-Qaeda, they have no more excuse for their presence in the region," Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast said in a televised interview Saturday night.

Meantime, he stressed that the double-standard policies showed by the US and certain western countries have convinced the world people that the western states are not serious about campaign against terrorism.

"This question has remained in the minds of the people that if Americans really wanted to fight terrorism, then why they cooperated with those terrorist moves which targeted the regional people," Mehman-Parast asked.

His remarks came after a recent call by the EU foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, on Iraq for ignoring the terrorist activities of the anti-Iran terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO).
The European Union has lately changed approach towards the terrorist MKO in a move to pressurize Iran to stop its progress in the civilian nuclear technology.

Some ranking members of the MKO who have had a role in the assassination of a large number of Iranian citizens and officials are currently living in France.

Before an overture by the EU, the MKO was on the European Union’s list of terrorist organizations subject to an EU-wide assets freeze. Yet, the MKO puppet leader, Maryam Rajavi, who has residency in France, regularly visited Brussels and despite the ban enjoyed full freedom in Europe.

The MKO is behind a slew of assassinations and bombings inside Iran, a number of EU parliamentarians said in a recent letter in which they slammed a British court decision to remove the MKO from the British terror list. The EU officials also added that the group has no public support within Iran because of their role in helping Saddam Hussein in the Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-1988).

Many of the MKO members abandoned the terrorist organization while most of those still remaining in the camp are said to be willing to quit but are under pressure and torture not to do so.

A May 2005 Human Rights Watch report accused the MKO of running prison camps in Iraq and committing human rights violations.

According to the Human Rights Watch report, the outlawed group puts defectors under torture and jail terms.

The group, founded in the 1960s, blended elements of Islamism and Stalinism and participated in the overthrow of the US-backed Shah of Iran in 1979. Ahead of the revolution, the MKO conducted attacks and assassinations against both Iranian and Western targets.

The group started assassination of the citizens and officials after the revolution in a bid to take control of the newly established Islamic Republic. It killed several of Iran’s new leaders in the early years after the revolution, including the then President, Mohammad Ali Rajayee, Prime Minister, Mohammad Javad Bahonar and the Judiciary Chief, Mohammad Hossein Beheshti who were killed in bomb attacks by MKO members in 1981.

The group fled to Iraq in 1986, where it was protected by Saddam Hussein and where it helped the Iraqi dictator suppress Shiite and Kurd uprisings in the country.

The terrorist group joined Saddam’s army during the Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-1988) and helped Saddam and killed thousands of Iranian civilians and soldiers during the US-backed Iraqi imposed war on Iran.

Since the 2003 US invasion of Iraq, the group, which now adheres to a pro-free-market philosophy, has been strongly backed by neo-conservatives in the United States, who also argue for the MKO to be taken off the US terror list.

MKO Using Former US Officials, Retired Generals to Pursue Terrorist Objectives

Sources revealed that the terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) is using former US officials and retired Generals to advance its terrorist goals.

According to a report published by the website of the Habilian association – a human rights group formed of the family members and relatives of the Iranian victims of terrorism – the Washington-based ‘Iran Policy Committee’ is one of those agencies that serve the interests of the terrorist group.

Established in February 2005, the Iran Policy Committee (IPC) is comprised of former officials from the White House, State Department, Pentagon, intelligence agencies, and experts from think-tanks and universities.

Members of the IPC, a nonprofit and bipartisan organization based in Washington DC, include R. Bruce McColm; Lt. General Thomas McInerney USAF (ret.); Captain Charles T. "Chuck" Nash, USN (ret.); Lt. General Edward Rowny, USA (ret.); Professor Raymond Tanter; Major General Paul E. Vallely, USA (ret.).

The Habilian report said the IPC’s overt and covert policies are highly influenced by the MKO.
The report stated that the IPC’s stance on the MKO even runs counter to the declared policies of the White House, specially when the interests of the MKO are in danger.

The IPC members even embark on taking such stances which are completely in opposition to the policies that they adopted during the years of their service, the report noted.

The committee also is trying to portray the MKO as an alternative for the Islamic Republic and is trying to convince the US administration to take the MKO off its list of terrorist groups.

The MKO, whose main stronghold is in Iraq, is blacklisted by much of the international community, including the United States.
