MKO and Western Support—what’s the Motive?

Despite international sanctions, Iran began fueling its nuclear power plant in Bushehr, a small city on the southwest coast. The sanctions were imposed to prevent Iran from moving forward with its nuclear program, and as this was going on, a slew of propaganda began to emerge in their wake. The MKO (aka MEK, PMOI, NCRI) began a massive letter writing campaign, and also got involved in publishing articles on their website claiming that Iran had nuclear weapons. TheMKO and Western Support—what’s the Motive? MKO nourished the anti-Iran media, which attempted in vain to underestimate Iran’s success in starting a nuclear facility. Various TV stations have introduced a number of “nuclear experts” on their news programs trivializing Iran’s nuclear success. Insofar as the MKO is concerned, this type of reaction is expected—it is merely a tactic used to boost their promise (to followers) to take over the government of the Islamic Republic within six months. It is also an approach they engage in order to self-adorn their support from various Western Islamaphobic neoconservative politicians and think tanks. For the upper echelon of the MKO, seeing their home country make nuclear achievements is oddly worrisome.

However, for this self-proclaimed “resistance group” a warning to the world about the so-called “dangerous” consequences of delay and postponement towards an Iranian nuclear program is their only hope. The MKO’s reaction is contradictory however to what some the real experts are saying.

British Foreign Office Minister Alistair Burt said, "We have always respected Iran’s right to develop an exclusively civil nuclear power program." [1] Furthermore, the State Department Spokesperson, Darby Holladay said, "We recognize that the Bushehr reactor is designed to provide civilian nuclear power and do not view it as a proliferation risk." [2]

Despite these official comments, there are some Western figures who remain polarized when it comes to Iran. Their mere association with the deviant MKO illustrates their hypocritical views on human rights, civil rights, and terrorism. John Bolton, a long-standing supporter of both Israel and MKO is among those controversial politicians who work for waging a new war against Iran while advocating for MKO terrorists. In an article published in the *Christian Science Monitor*, Bolton suggested “that if Israel was going to bomb the Bushehr power facility, it would need to do so before the fuel rods were added or they would run the risk of ‘creating a radioactive cloud that would harm too many civilians.’” [3]

It’s clear that in Bolton’s offensive stand against Iran, he sees the MKO as a useful instrument and he has no “inhibition about getting information [from MEK] about what’s going in Iran."[4]

Why is John Bolton so interested in a Marxist-Islamist cult? The answer is in his simplistic and radical view that Maryam Rajavi shares. They see society, religion, and other abstract notions as black and white. And the you-are-with-us-or-you-are-against-us rhetoric is embedded in their shared rigid outlook. Maryam Rajavi has convictions that Massoud Rajavi is the absolute Truth and his opponents are the absolute Evil—the MKO remains a cult whose leader’s views feed Bolton’s certainty about his personal vision for Iran. According to Richard H. Curtiss, in his article in the *Washington Report*, “Bolton has maintained friendly relations with ‘the Armageddonists’ and other extreme right-wing Republicans. Although personally a Lutheran, Bolton seems to fit right in with hard-line Bible Belt Christians.” [5]

Bolton attended the MKO gathering together with some other anti-Iran Western politicians in Taverny, Paris. His attendance is not only a moral failure for himself but also a failure for European morality; Europe has long been the vanguard of human rights and as Bolton succumbs to the MEK’s ployish support for the “war on terrorism” he is actually sponsoring MKO terrorists—and by his mere presence at their rally, he bestows them a legitimate voice.
American warmongers and Israeli policy display a positive and friendly attitude toward MKO terrorists because they are "the enemy of our enemy." If European or American authorities were honest in their stand on terrorism, they would block the assets of people like John Bolton, Jose Mari Aznar, and British Lord Corbett because of their obvious and direct support for MKO, a terror cult which is responsible for the violent deaths of hundreds of Iranian and Iraqi civilians throughout the past three decades.

Israel’s Secret Relationship with MKO

In the 1960’s when the Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) was founded by a handful of Iranian university students, its ideology encompassed a classless, monotheist society which blankdenied all symbols of Western capitalism and Jewish Zionism. With this denial came a penchant for violence and systematic killing—killing which the State Department recognizes as terrorism. Michael Rubin, an independent scholar who in 2009, led a workshop at the AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee—America’s pro-Israeli lobby) conference in Washington DC, wrote an article in 2006 titled “Monsters of the Left” in which he declares that the “MKO launched a wave of bomb attacks which targeted the Iran-American Society, the US Information office, the Hotel International, Pepsi Cola, General Motors, and the Marine Oil Company […] In a wave of bombings that continued into 1975, the MKO group attacked clubs, stores, police facilities, minority-owned businesses, factories it accused of having ‘Israeli connections,’ and symbols of state and capitalism.” [1] While carrying out these attacks, the MKO not only denounced Israel, but it supported the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), and in fact, during the 1970’s, some of the MKO’s core members went to train in PLO military camps. [2] The MKO’s hostility towards Israel and Zionism was so strong that it led them to bomb the Jordanian Embassy in Tehran, “to revenge King Hussein’s September 1970 crackdown on their PLO patrons,”admits Rubin. [3] Israel may have been an enemy of the MKO at one time, but now they have warmed to them—because the ideology of the MKO has shifted, and Israel may be able to use them.

Now, the MKO could use a helping hand too because since the US-led invasion of Iraq, in the enclave of Camp Ashraf, a place the MKO has called home for over two decades, there is impending precariousness. The MKO fears for its future because they are no longer under the protection of Saddam Hussein, and there’s no telling what the shaky new Iraqi government will do. What’s more, the U.S. government no longer considers MKO members in Iraq to have the “protected-persons” status the U.S. gave them in 2003, and is privately supportive of Iraqi government efforts to encourage the residents to leave. [4] At present, the MKO’s biggest fear is Iranian reprisal. Even though they helped bring about the 1979 Islamic Revolution, killing Americans and ousting the Shah, in the years following, they simply proved to be too power hungry for the Iranian regime. In a move which was designed to distance them from the regime, and gain support, they changed their ideology, and in the 1980’s joined Saddam Hussein and moved to Camp Ashraf in Iraq (where many of them still remain). During the time in Iraq, they killed Kurds in exchange for arms, and then turned against the government they helped bring to power—killing Iranian officials and civilians. Support they needed from Iran shriveled, and the people of Iran now hold the MKO accountable for their deadly attacks on citizens and officials throughout the last four decades. For the MKO leaders, Maryam and Massoud Rajavi, a worst case scenario would be deportation back to Iran because they are viewed as fascist cultists, and worse, traitors. With this kind of track record, a relationship between the MKO and Israel is weirdly devious—and secret.

The MKO sees the West’s support as their only hope for continued existence. In order to formulate opportunity within the framework of hope, they no longer denounce imperialism and Zionism. And in a last ditch move to maintain their dying support among a small minority of Iranians, they have turned to President Ahmadinejad’s “Zionist” foes—credulous Western politicians and, yes, Israel. Despite the MKO’s past admonition of Zionism, Israel has been obliging, secretly working with the MKO in opposition to Iran. In order publicly unite with the West, the MKO came to the media in 2003 and announced that Iran had nuclear warheads—which according to the International Atomic Energy Association (IAEA), turned out to be wrong. Not only was the information incorrect, but it was fabricated by the Israeli government. In June 2009, Gareth Porter, an expert on U.S. national security policy, published an article on IPS, titled”Report Ties Dubious Iran Nuclear Docs to Israel Analysis.”Porter reveals that”Israeli intelligence was the source of the collection of intelligence documents which have been used to accuse Iran of hiding nuclear weapons research.” [5] Referring to various sources, Porter asserts that”the documents collection which the IAEA has called ‘alleged studies’ actually originated in Israel and in fact Israel intelligence assembled the documents.”[6] According to Porter, “German officials have said that the Mujahedin E Khalq or MEK, the Iranian resistance organization, brought the laptop documents collection to the attention of U.S. intelligence, as reported by IPS in February 2008.

Israeli ties with the political arm of the MEK, the National Committee of Resistance in Iran (NCRI), go back to the early 1990’s and include assistance to the organization in broadcasting into Iran from Paris.” [7] The Germans have long been wary of the MKO and Germany’s Office for the Protection of the Constitution has noted that the MKO’s propaganda campaigns often include attempts to contact members of parliament to inform them of the MKO’s alleged goals, encourage political support, and influence parliamentary debate about Iran.

MKO’s secret ties with Israel do not begin or end with Iranian nuclear documents. They also unabashedly attend AIPAC functions. In fact, the MKO has intensive and very direct cooperation with the Iran Policy Committee, a spinoff of AIPAC. Mahan Abedin, a journalist for the Asia Times, reports that there are regular media reports which allude to direct Israel-MKO ties. [9] In an article that Abedin wrote in which he interviewed a former MKO member, Massoud Bani Sadr, BaniSadr disclosed that”the [MKO] is exclusively motivated by the interests of the cult, and as such it will cooperate with any constituency. If there is any hesitation in collaboration it stems from Israeli reluctance, since the Mujahedin because of its close relationship with the PLO, is not fully trusted by Israelis. On the other hand from an Israeli perspective, the [MKO] is the only viable tool against Iran.”[10] In 2006, Connie Bruck, a writer for New Yorker, spoke with an Israeli diplomat who declined to elaborate on the MKO-Israel relationship, but did at least say to Bruck that “Israel had found the [MKO] useful.”[11]

Richard Silverstein points out that the Israeli lobby in Washington advocates tougher U.S. policy against the Islamic Republic. [12] And the MKO is all for it. In their efforts for starting a war with Iran, or impose crippling sanctions on it, the Israel lobby and the neocons have been aided by two groups of Iranian exiles: the monarchists, and members and supporters of the MKO. [13] Silverstein notes that “Israel is in the midst of a massive diplomatic, political and intelligence campaign, both public and covert, that could lead – if those officials behind it have their way – towards a military strike on Iran. It is a war for the hearts and minds of Americans. Or you might call it the war before the war. In intelligence circles, this Israeli project is known as perception management and defined by the department of defense as:

Actions to convey and/or deny information … to foreign audiences to influence their emotions, motives and objective reasoning as well as to intelligence systems and leaders … ultimately resulting in foreign behaviors and official actions favorable to [US] objectives. In various ways, perception management combines truth projection, operations security, cover and deception and psychological operations.” This is a parallel policy which is consistently held by the MKO, and its political arm, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI). In hope that Maryam Rajavi, the leader of the MKO, will become the puppet of the United States—a shoe in the door in Iran, the NCRI’s website maintains a canopy of praise for the U.S. for anything which is against Iran and the Iranian people. (Recently the NCRI’s website ran a headline that states, “Maryam Rajavi, President elect of the Iranian Resistance, welcomed the imposition of new sanctions against the mullahs’ regime by the US and the European Union”) [14]. The relationship with the US, the sanctions, and the underlying reasons and ramifications for pressing sanctions should be seen as more complex for the Rajavi’s, as they deem themselves Iranians—because Iranians are simply too savvy, and they know that sanctions are just a simplistic reprisal. The Rajavi’s attitude and blind devotion to U.S. policy, along with their support for the Israeli lobby shows that they are out of touch with Iranian sentiment. Iran doesn’t like Israel’s attitude and blind devotion to itself and its expansion. For Iranians, Israel demonstrates a haughtiness that doesn’t chronicle nicely with the rest of the Middle East, and Israel’s policy towards Iran is to pressure the U.S. to do what Israel wants. After 9/11 Iran held sympathy for the U.S. and offered to exchange al-Qaida terrorists for MKO terrorists [15]. But the Bush administration neoconservatives declined after Israelis met with Manuchehr Ghorbanifar (an unreliable intelligence source for the U.S. who was involved in the Iran Contra scandal). The Jerusalem Post reveals that at least one of the meetings was quite specific with regard to an attempt to torpedo better US/Iran relations:

“The purpose of the meeting with Ghorbanifar was to undermine a pending deal that the White House had been negotiating with the Iranian government. At the time, Iran had considered turning over five al-Qaeda operatives in exchange for Washington dropping its support for Mujahadeen Khalq, an Iraq-based rebel Iranian group listed as a terrorist organization by the State Department.”[16]

According to Juan Cole, an expert on the Middle East, “The neoconservatives have some sort of shadowy relationship with the Mujahadeen-e Khalq Organization, or MEK [MKO]. Presumably its leaders have secretly promised to recognize Israel if they ever succeed in overthrowing the ayatollahs in Iran. When the U.S. recently categorized the MEK as a terrorist organization, there were howls of outrage from ‘scholars’ associated with the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, such as ex-Trotskyite Patrick Clawson and Daniel Pipes.”[17]
MKO ties with US and Israel officials might offer short-term benefits to the group. But they will harm the fame of those who currently support them. Despite all effort made by the MKO propaganda campaign to win the support of AIPAC which “has a lot of weight” in U.S. congress according to Massoud Bani Sadr, the MKO”have not been able to pass a single substantial resolution in support of the organization in congress. Note also that the US government regards the Mujahedin as a terrorist organization and does not want to create another Al-Qaeda.”[18] For now these strange bedfellows must remain a secret.

Tom Tancredo’s Marriage to the Mojahedin Khalq (MEK, MKO, NCRI, Rajavi cult): Posterboy for Israel’s Infiltration of the American Right

 

The Washington Post and the international media inform us this week that it’s official:  Former Republican Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-Colorado) is going to seek that state’s gubernatorial nomination as the candidate of the Constitution Party.  For the record, I was the Constitution Party’s nominee in the U. S. Senate race in Delaware in 2000, opposing now-Senator Thomas Carper and the late William Roth.

Does it have the fingerprints of the CIA, Mossad, and MI6?

 TPM informs us that the Constitution Party is a paleo-conservative party in the mold of Pat Buchanan and Ron Paul, rejecting “neoconservatism and American internationalism as threats to the country’s independence and sovereignty.”

But, as usual, the media (and many of the naive faithful in the Constitution Party) misses the real story:  Tom Tancredo is a tool of the Israeli Lobby, a neo-conservative, and a warmonger for the Zionist State on the subject of launching a preemptive war against Iran.

This is not the first time that the national Constitution Party has promoted an Israeli asset at the national level in recent years .  In 2008, Constitution Party founder Howard Phillips, chairman of Washington’s Conservative Caucus, was promoting Dr. Jerome Corsi of Harvard University as a prospective Presidential candidate for the fledgling conservative 3rd-Party-in-the-Electoral-Wilderness.

It takes less than 5 minutes on the Net to establish Corsi’s credentials as a neo-conservative, Zionist asset of influence on the American Right.  An inspection of Corsi’s written archives for World Net Daily, the brainchild of Netanyahu’s buddy-in-residence, Joseph Farah, tells all that is needed to know about the good Harvard doctor.   His book, Atomic Iran, might as well been authored by the agitation-propaganda assets for the Israeli intelligence establishment that Philip Giraldi informs us are using Rupert Murdoch’s media chain to deliberately disseminate false stories about what is transpiring with Iran’s nuclear program.  As an excellent summation of Atomic Iran, Payvand’s Iran News carries a review of Corsi’s tome that reveals the extent of its connections to America’s Mossad-linked Neo-Conservatives.

But Corsi made one mistake in 2008.  He appeared on my broadcast, “Mark Dankof’s America,” for the Republic Broadcasting Network.  At that time, he shared with my listeners his ongoing travels to Israel, for consultations with his “advisors in the Israeli Knesset.”  It was shortly after that revelation that he withdrew his name from the Constitution Party Presidential sweepstakes. It would be the end of his brief foray into electoral politics, but not the end of the bigger story.

The new posterboy for Israeli infiltration of American paleo-conservative parties and media outlets would appear to be Tom Tancredo.  An examination of Tancredo’s published views in an interview with Right Wing News reveals what the London Financial Times depicted by photograph yesterday, in covering the ex-Congressman’s run for the Colorado governor’s mansion.  He is working with the Mujahideen-e-Khalq (MKO)/National Council of Resistance in Iran (NCRI), the Communist-cultic terror organization, in assisting American neo-conservatives and Israel in facilitating “regime change” in Iran.

 

Hey, Mr. Tancredo: Is that the Hammer-and-Sickle in the MEK Logo?

 

My recent work on the MKO, and my coverage of the Raymond/Constance Tanter divorce case, should tell every American paleo-conservative in either the Constitution or Republican Party about that organization—and who it is that Tom Tancredo is working for.  It isn’t America.  It’s Israel and the Jewish Lobby.

Right Web joins Right Wing News in chronicling the Tancredo world view as it pertains to both the MEK, the Neo-Conservative “clash of civilizations” ideology, and support for America’s alleged War on Terror.  Here is a sample:

 “A cultural warrior on the international front, Tancredo is an enthusiastic supporter of the Bush administration’s war on terror, including the war in Iraq. Tancredo, who is a consistent supporter of the Pentagon and U.S. defense industries, has become a leading spokesperson in the House for an Iran regime change strategy in which the People’s Freedom Fighters (MEK) would be the vanguard organization supported by the United States.

 “Describing himself as a ‘devotee’ of Samuel Huntington and the thesis of his Clash of Civilizations treatise, Tancredo, like many on the right-from social conservatives to neoconservatives-bases his restrictionism less on economic reasons than on cultural and racial ones. ‘The threat to the United States comes from two things: the act of immigration combined with the cult of multiculturalism,’ argues Tancredo. ‘We will never be able to win in the clash of civilizations if we don’t know who we are. If Western civilization succumbs to the siren song of multiculturalism, I believe we are finished.’

“Concerning the war on terrorism, Tancredo stated: ‘I believe that what we are fighting here is not just a small group of people who have hijacked a religion, but it is a civilization bent on destroying ours. Radical Islam has been the foe of Christiandom for centuries. The most serious foe of Christiandom. The battle ebbs and flows, peaks and becomes less intense, but it has been going on for centuries. We have never really been bothered by it, because the world was a place in which you could not really attack the United States physically. There were oceans separating us and if you did come, what were you going to come with? A gun, a rock, an arrow? But today it has all changed; it has taken on a different dimension.’

 “‘This combination, massive immigration and radical multiculturalism,’ warned Tancredo, ‘is a prescription for our own demise.’

“Violent Regime Change in Iran by Freedom Fighters Tancredo advocates U.S. support for the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK), a cult-like group that is cultivating a broad base of support among Iranian expatriates around the world. Mujahedin e-Khalq means ‘people’s freedom fighters.’ MEK affiliates are the Iraq-based National Liberation Army of Iran and the National Council of Resistance in Iran. MEK calls itself the People’s Mujahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI). The public face of the MEK is Maryam Rajavi, who has been designated by the MEK as the president-elect of Iran’s government in exile.

“Although identified as a terrorist organization by the State Department and accused of a pattern of human rights abuses, Tancredo says ‘We should be aiding them, instead of restricting their activities. We can use the MEK, they are in fact warriors. Where we need to use that kind of force, we can use them.’

 “Together with Rep. Bob Filner (D-CA), Tancredo in 2005 formed the Iran Human Rights and Democracy Caucus.

“On April 6, 2005 the caucus convened a briefing on Capitol Hill organized by the Iran Policy Committee, the most prominent policy institute dedicated to advancing a U.S. government-supported regime change strategy that relies on the MEK as the main instrument of a violent revolution. At that briefing, Tancredo called for the Bush administration to remove MEK from the list of terrorist organizations. According to Tancredo, MEK was designated not because it was involved in terrorist activities, but because the Clinton administration sought to curry favor with the Iranian regime.

“Tancredo describes Maryam Rejavi as ‘very charismatic, she believes in women’s rights, she believes in democracy in Iran . I do support their efforts. I understand that the United States characterizes them as a terrorist organization, but what you have to understand is that they were identified as such only after the Clinton administration agreed to mollify the regime in Iran. They wanted to reach some kind of detente with Iran. Iran had only one demand, and that was that we put the Mujahedin-e Khalq on the terrorist list and so it was done for political reasons, not because they posed any threat to the United States.’

“On May 10, 2005 Tancredo organized another Capitol Hill briefing through the Iran Human Rights and Democracy Caucus that featured a variety of witnesses who spoke favorably of the MEK, including at least two U.S. military officials who had worked with the MEK in Iraq. On May 18, 2005 Tancredo took his support of MEK to the House floor when he asked that excerpts of the briefing be included in the congressional record. In his statement, Tancredo said that 65 political groups in Iraq had organized a petition signed by 2.8 million Iraqis that criticized Iran-sponsored ‘Islamic fundamentalism’s stealthy domination’ of Iraq and strongly supported the People’s Mujahedin Organization of Iran. Tancredo called the organization the ‘main Iranian opposition group.’ Describing the petition, Tancredo said its supporters demanded that ‘the PMOI should be recognized in Iraq as a “legitimate political movement”’-which is also one of the demands of the Iran Policy Committee.

“Tancredo and Filner, the co-chairs of the Iran caucus, offered their support to a pro-MEK rally in Washington on January 19, 2006. In a letter to the rally organizers, the Council for Democratic Change in Iran, the co-chairs of the House caucus, said, ‘We believe a possible alternative to the current government can be achieved through supporting the people of Iran and the Iranian resistance . We extend our solidarity to you and to the Iranian people and their defiance against tyranny.’

“The pro-MEK rally was endorsed by two U.S. Senators: Tom Coburn (R-OK) and Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX), and by four individual congressional representatives: Christopher Shays (R-CT), Ed Towns (D-NY), Bob Filner (D-CA), and Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX).


“By publicly supporting the MEK and the Iran Policy Committee, Tancredo has positioned himself with the most radical wing in the intensifying debate about how the U.S. government should pursue an Iran ‘regime change’ strategy. All sides that favor such a strategy agree that the U.S. government should be working more closely with Iranian dissidents both inside and outside Iran.


“Tancredo continues to be an enthusiastic supporter of the U.S. war in Iraq. In a section on his official website on Iraq, Tancredo says: ‘The United States did not invade Iraq to conquer it, but rather to set it free. The United States does not stand to gain territory, oil, or any other spoils of war. We all should be proud of that sacrifice.’

“Concerning the war on terrorism, Tancredo states: ‘Ultimately, I believe that the leadership of President Bush and the determination of the American people will result in the needed investments in technology, people, and weapons systems to combat, deter, and respond to future acts of brutality and terror by our enemies.’”

So much for a political party that rejects “neoconservatism and American interventionism” and nominates Tom Tancredo.  You can consign the Constitution Party to the ashheap of history, along with an Israeli-infiltrated Tea Party movement.  As I pointed out in my past essay, “Controlled Opposition:  The Tea Party Turds and the House of Rothschild’s Coming War with Iran,” the ongoing demonization of Iran and ad hominem attacks on Islam, are always accompanied by a complete ignorance of the history of the relationship between the Jewish Lobby and Israel on the one hand, and their malignant influence on America on the other.  When the Tea Party’s well-publicized Nashville conference featured Neo-Conservative after Neo-Conservative, leading up to the grand finale of Sarah Palin’s gracing of the stage, I suggested the following:

 “Try this one on for size.  What would have transpired in Nashville if someone with access to podium as a scheduled speaker had said something  on the order of the following?

 “‘Ladies and gentlemen, why is the domestic and foreign policy of the modern American conservative movement and the Republican party being defined by a view of Biblical prophecy unheard of until the 19th century, and largely promoted worldwide by the House of Rothschild’s distribution of the Scofield Reference Bible through its Oxford University Press?  Why are we in an alliance with a nation that has repeatedly committed crimes against the United States, including the Lavon Affair, Mossad involvement in the Kennedy assassination, the premeditated attack on the USS Liberty in June of 1967, the Pollard spy case, participation with Communist China in the theft of American nuclear secrets at Los Alamos through the PROMIS affair, and the more recent Ben Ami Kadish and AIPAC/Rosen/Weissman spy cases?

“‘Why are we in an alliance as American conservatives with a domestic Jewish lobby which has militantly supported and financed the radical feminist, abortion, and homosexual lobbies most of us are sworn to oppose?

” ‘Why are we, as a pro-life movement, committed to policies of genocide against the Palestinians and the advocacy of the mass murder of Iranians, at the behest of an “ally’’which is the chief nuclear, biological, and chemical military power in the Middle East, and a non-signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) signed, however, by Iran?

“‘And why, pray tell, are people here today in Nashville, talking about recovering American domestic liberty, in the context of ongoing obeisance to the chief players in a central banking cabal which has handed to us the direct federal income tax, the Federal Reserve Board, $13 trillion in national debt, and every globalist trade treaty that has destroyed American sovereignty and the manufacturing sector of our economy?   Is Bernard Madoff going to show up next year as a Tea Party keynote speaker?

“‘And are Sarah Palin, Dick Armey, William Kristol, Mary Parker Lewis, Alan Keyes, Lou and Phillip Sheldon, Connie Hair, Judson Phillips, Mark Skoda, and Andrew Breitbart concerned that Israeli intelligence is promoting agitation-propaganda through the Rupert Murdoch News Corp chain designed to begin a Third World War?

“‘Frankly, ladies and gentlemen, there is only one word to describe these activities on the part of those who claim to speak for America, its Constitution, and its people, but who have been bought off by what I have just described.  That word is treason.’

” Nashville clearly would have exploded.  It should have.  And the longer America First patriots delay the exposure of the Trojan Horse within the gates that should have transpired in Tennessee, the greater likelihood of the destruction of the Republic at the hands of the House of Rothschild, and the envelopment of the planet in the flames of a Third World War, courtesy of the Neo-Conservative dream of a ‘Clash of Civilizations.’“

Who is responsible for the continued suffering of the families of members imprisoned inside Ashraf garrison?

The bombing in the city of Zahedan (south east of Iran) claimed several casualties (Thursday 15 Maryam Rajavi called the family ‘the nest of corruption’ and rightfully describes the family as ‘the main enemy’ of the cultJuly 2010). President Barak Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and other western leaders immediately condemned the terrorist act. This terrorist attempt took place a few days after the Supreme Criminal Court of Iraq issued the arrest warrants for 38 leaders of the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO – Rajavi cult) including Massoud and Maryam Rajavi who are charged with crimes against humanity and expanding terrorism.

Two days after the terrorist act in Iran, a Federal court in the United States of America urged the State Department to review its decision on finding the MKO as an FTO (foreign terrorist organization). This call received a positive response from the Secretary of State. Apparently the show which was performed in Europe is now starting in the US.

The US administration and western countries do always condemn terrorism but for some reasons they are not so keen on condemning the terrorist. It is interesting to learn that the European countries which no longer, despite piles of documents, recognize the MKO as a terrorist group are still not ready to accept the people who they imposed to Iraqi people in their own countries. Of course they do not want these terrorists in their own countries; they would rather have them close to Iran and on the shoulders of the Iraqi people.

The US government describes the MKO as a cult of personality and as a terrorist group and says that they have murdered Americans in Iran and even made songs to celebrate it. But it is noteworthy that when a victim of this cult tries to escape from Ashraf garrison in Iraq and the elements of the cult, right in front of the eyes of the families, grab him and beat him up and take him away, the American soldiers, who are supposed to evacuate the place, hover over the heads of the families by helicopter and threaten them and afterwards do not allow any investigations into the matter.

Apparently some elements and factions within the US Administration and in the west have started a dangerous game and did not learn from the history. The terrorism of the Rajavi cult could not be in a better situation than that of Al-Qaida and Ben Laden for the west. One day, not far away, they will start killing in Europe and America. The MKO at the present time have established security systems in Iraq and have gathered the elements from the previous regime and have sent their members who were trained under Saddam Hussein to France and Germany. One former member in Europe once quoted Mehdi Abrishamchi a top official in the MKO saying that “now that the west calls us terrorist let us be real terrorists”. The security authorities in the west, who were insisting that the MKO not be de-proscribed, had the analysis and knowledge that the threat of the MKO is far greater for the west rather than for Iran.

The Americans could do to recall their support for the Falun Gong cult in China; assuming that since they are opposed to the Chinese government they could be America’s friends. This support resulted in the cult being able to recruit Chinese-Americans in the US and entering them into organized crimes in that country and creating enormous problems. This cult was no longer a problem for the Chinese but in its place became a disastrous difficulty for the Americans and they still are struggling with.

The MKO is no longer an issue for the Iranian regime. This problem is in the first place on the shoulders of the Iraqis. This, then, is reflected inside western countries, and the solution becomes a burden for the western countries that imposed this problem on Iraq in the first instance. Iraq will not carry this problem anymore, but some in the west – for their short term benefits – try to keep them in Iraq. The inhuman face of some western elements, who do not care about the human rights of the inhabitants of Ashraf, is revealed when they intend to use these unpaid, psychologically manipulated terrorists for their wicked tasks. If they are sincere why don’t they open the gates of Ashraf garrison and let everyone learn about what is going on inside there and let its inhabitants learn about what is happening outside.

But innocent people, including the members confined inside Ashraf and their suffering families, are the victims of this paradox and this uncertainty in western foreign policy. That faction of the west which is under the influence of Israel apparently has problems with the Islamic Republic of Iran. But the only concern of the families is why they cannot freely visit their loved ones just a few hundred yards away after waiting for months. What is the obstacle? The leaders of the MKO of course who consider families as their nightmare are the main obstacle. But who is supporting them to be able to continue their crimes? Certainly some warmongering and narrow minded elements in the US Administration and Israeli lobby are doing so. But why do they do so? Because they arrogantly think that the enemy of their enemy is necessarily their friend and of course while totally miscalculating the events have forgotten the experience of Hitler and Bin Laden. Further to this, it should be far from their dignity to try to use the used handkerchief of Saddam Hussein which has proved to be useless for many years.

The US government has no choice but to let the Iraqis to dismantle the MKO in their country. Nowhere in the world has a foreign terrorist organization had the privilege to establish a garrison and not let the host county know what is happening there. This is of course the heritage of Saddam Hussein for the Iraqi people, created by the Europeans. And American Forces, according to the RAND report, protected their base and kept it exactly as the MKO leaders desired. If the Americans are worried about their human rights why don’t they take them to their own country? The truth is that the Americans are not prepared to issue even one single visa for MKO members to enter their country while they force the Iraqis to maintain them even against their national security and other interests.

An Iraqi official told us that in Saddam Hussein’s era, after the ceasefire in the war with Iran, it was arranged for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to interview Iranian prisoners of war (POWs) who were staying with the MKO and ask them whether they wanted to stay with them or go back to Iran. At that time both Saddam and Rajavi were forced to fulfill the demand and consequently these people were interviewed outside MKO bases without the presence of the MKO and even a representative from the Iranian embassy in Baghdad was present and in some cases members of families or their photos and their letters were brought to the meetings. Finally, although the cult had tried to intimidate them by telling them that they would be executed if they go back to Iran, a considerable percentage of them did not go back to the MKO bases and returned safely to Iran and to their families. Now how is it that the ICRC and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and even the American Forces, even though Saddam Hussein, Rajavi’s mentor, is gone and the Iraqi government opposes the presence of the Rajavi cult on their soil, they cannot arrange even a simple meeting of the members with their families outside Ashraf garrison?

At this time, Rajavi is facing a very tough situation. Cult and family are each other’s diametric. The existence of one is the rejection of the other. Maryam Rajavi called the family ‘the nest of corruption’ and rightfully describes the family as ‘the main enemy’ of the cult. Now the families are standing outside the cultic castle of Rajavi without any weapons and equipment and are trying to counteract its witchcraft and free the imprisoned members. What would Rajavi, who has no tool to reach his goals except machine guns and bombs and of course lying and deceiving, do against the unshakable stand of these standing families and how long will the warmongering elements in US policy continue with this situation? The future will reveal all.

US charged with Iran terror support

Iran experienced terrorist attacks last week in the form of twin bombings outside a mosque in its southeast. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said it had credible evidence that these terrorist groups were being equipped by US and NATO forces inside Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The following is Press TV’s interview with journalist and political analyst Ghanbar Naderi in Tehran and political analyst Dr. Kamel Wazni in Beirut to discuss the charges.

Press TV: Dr. Kamel Wazni, going back to 2009, can you tell us about the secret directive signed by General David Paterues, in which the new order, including anti-Iran covert operations were intended to make US efforts systematic and long term?

The name of the directive was ‘Joint Unconventional Warfare Task Force Execute Order,’ signed in September 30, 2009, known as a clandestine activity, one that does not require the US president’s approval or regular reports to the Congress.

Kamel Wazni: Obviously, the Americans have been conspiring with other intelligence and with NATO and unfortunately with some Arab country against the Islamic Republic. They have been funding and directing some political terrorists in the region and there was evidence by a former Pakistani general which indicated that Jundallah have been funded with millions of dollars from the CIA and other intelligence (agencies) to conduct operations against innocent people inside Iran. What we saw this past week is an example of what the American money has done by encouraging terrorists to launch attack against civilians. This reprehensive act by the CIA should be brought to the international community and should be prosecuted and the finger should be pointed at the American administration which called for dialogue and peace and on the other hand it directed its intelligence operations to conduct this heinous crime against the innocent and civilians.

Press TV: Ghanbar Naderi, Dr. Wazni mentioned Jundallah. The arrest of Jundallah terrorist group’s ringleader Abdolmalek Rigi: he told Press TV that since 2005 he held several "confidential" meetings with FBI and CIA agents in Karachi and Islamabad, the Pakistani capital. He said two female US agents had offered weapons and safe bases in Afghanistan, and professional trainers, while inquiring about how many people the Rigi group could gather for military training. Can you expand on that?

Ghanbar Naderi: All these hostile measures taken against Iran are not something new. This didn’t happen overnight. This hasn’t been going on for the past one or two or three years or since 9/11 attacks, no, this kind of hostilities toward Iran has been going on for the past 30 years. For the simple fact that Iran is not following the orders of the US in the region. That’s as simple as that.

All I am concerned about is that somehow the situation might get out of control and the US might be forced to pay a heavy price for that. We don’t need our president to provide us evidence to prove beyond doubt that the US is training and financing terrorist groups in the region. We don’t need the reports of the US media to tell us exactly the same kind of information. I believe US actions speak louder than words and we haven’t seen anything at all friendly until this point in time since the 9/11 attacks about some kind of actions that is going to restore order in this volatile region.

Press TV: Kamel Wazni, let’s expand more on other Rigi statements, Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said, "The US must explain what AbdolMalek Rigi was doing at the US base in Afghanistan and why he was going to meet high-ranking US officials at the US Manas base near the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek."

Kamel Wazni: This cooperation between Jundallah and its leader who has been executed have been going on more than 2005 and that was actually mentioned in the Financial Times which disclosed that a large sum of money was handed by the CIA to the [Jundullah] leader to conduct clandestine operations inside Iran and attack sites inside the Islamic Republic. The Americans have been inciting this hatred and division between the Muslim world, capitalizing on some of that division and putting arms in the hands of a dangerous terrorist to commit this heinous crime. That’s taking place not only against Iran but is taking place against the people of Iraq. We have been seeing the bloodshed that’s taken place in Iraq and also what happened in Afghanistan.

This has to be brought to international courts and to the international community and I know the Iranians found confessions made by Rigi, they have evidence to show the whole world how the CIA was instrumental in training and helping and funding these terrorists and how they gave him some safe haven inside Pakistan and Afghanistan and other places to hide and to continue their crimes against Iran and other countries in the region.

Press TV: Ghanbar Naderi, Dr Wazni mentioned sowing discord in terms of creating division. That’s taking it a step further than just providing terrorists with intelligence and equipment. Expand on the deep ‘US plan’ to penetrate the Iranian people and the psychology and intention behind that.

Ghanbar Naderi: That’s a very good question. What you are telling us is America is not at war with Iran’s government or the Islamic Republic. America is at war with its people. That’s why it’s trying to create division among ethnic groups and minorities in this country which by the way form the very basis for this country. Iran is formed by these minorities. We don’t have just Balushis or Sistanis. We have so many different minorities in this country such as Kurds, Turks and like that. So we get the impression now that America is actually at war with the Iranian people and that’s why it’s not going to succeed. My sense is that terrorist groups such as Jundallah or MKO in Iraq are like hippies that belong to the past. They don’t belong to this point in time. They are not going to succeed because they don’t have so many members. As far as I am concerned their sort of activities are not going to topple Iran’s government because we don’t have an Iranian government. We have an Iranian nation. The government belongs to the people. That’s why America is not going to topple this country or its regime because we don’t have such a regime. We have people. America is trying to stand up against the Iranian people and has been doing so for the past 30 years and has failed miserably until this point in time.

Press TV: Dr Kamel Wazni, what about reports that US military forces in Iraq are training 150 members of the MKO terrorist organization? The trainings are taking place at Camp Taji, a base located near the central town of Ramadi, capital of Anbar province apparently.

Kamel Wazni: That’s very obvious and they have been giving protection to a lot of these terrorists who have been known to commit crimes against women and children. They have been terrorizing and planting bombs and the US is clearly taking an interest in training and giving protection for these terrorists. That act is unacceptable especially for the Obama administration who wanted to fight terrorism, who wanted to fight evil. This is an act of evil sponsored by the CIA and its military operation and this act should not be tolerated either by the Iranian people and the Iranian government or by the international community. Any act of killing is a murder especially when it comes from a country who sponsors terrorism and claims itself a democratic nation.
Here the US is playing the devil by training the well-known terrorists and they have a history of blood on their hands and that’s a heinous crime. And that should be prosecuted by the international community.

MKO: Sophisticated Extremists who Lack Legitimacy

In order for any political group to be successful in achieving a political agenda, the group must have national, public support. And yet, in order to gain public support, the group must—in the The Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK) aka MKO,PMOI is such a group that has little national, public support, and in turn lacks legitimacypublic’s view—be legitimate. The Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK) aka MKO,PMOI is such a group that has little national, public support, and in turn lacks legitimacy. By and far, most Iranians will assert that the group is neither an authentic nor viable opposition group and it must be examined more closely by foreign nations, particularly Western foreign nations.

Political figures, particularly in the US and Europe, are largely uninformed of the MKO’s enduring and ugly strategy due to heavy and sneaky lobbying by MKO officials who have scarily managed to gain an ear among some politicians and neoconservative think-tank activists. Journalist, Abigail Hauslohner, who writes for Time asserts that, “despite its position on the U.S. terrorist list since 1997, and reports by former members of abusive and cult-like practices at Ashraf, the MEK has gathered support from some surprising places abroad — especially since the U.S. invasion — by pitching itself as a viable opposition to the mullahs in Tehran.” Hauslohner interviewed Gary Sick, a Persian Gulf expert at Columbia University’s Middle East Institute and the author of All Fall Down: America’s Tragic Encounter With Iran. Sick describes that “the MKO have been extremely clever and very, very effective in their propaganda and lobbying of members of Congress." Sick says, "They get all sorts of people to sign their petitions. Many times the Congressmen don’t know what they’re signing." [1]

Raymond Tanter, a professor at Georgetown University is among those who have “sided” with the MKO, but his pledge to them involves a lot more than just a careless signatures. The Georgetown Voice, Georgetown University’s weekly news magazine since 1969, published an article by Will Sommer, on Tanter’s ties to the MKO which among other findings, exposes Tanter’s influence among congress members in the U.S. and parliament members in Europe. Sommer points out that Tanter uses his own pro-MKO books in class, and many students wonder what makes him loyal to the MKO. One student he interviewed concluded that Tanter sounded like he was “a lobbyist for the MEK.” [2]

Sommer furthers that “as the president of the Iran Policy Committee, a non-profit organization that promotes using Iranian oppositionists against Iran, Tanter is a tireless booster for the Mujahedin-e-Khalq (MEK/[MKO]), an armed group of Iranian exiles that seeks to overthrow the Iranian government. Its efforts are hampered by its placement on the State Department’s list of foreign terrorist organizations, a classification Tanter says should be reversed so the MEK can counter Iran […] Tanter does not consider himself a lobbyist—because the MEK is considered a terrorist group, advocacy on their behalf is illegal.” [3] And yet, as of 7/12/2010, the MKO shows a photograph of Raymond Tanter at its “Grand Gathering” in Paris.

Since 1979, the Iranian government has had little or limited and fragile support from Western nations; it struggles diplomatically as it tries to establish respect among its own population. Meanwhile, the leaders of the MKO have a lofty plan to save Iran, while peddling the idea that the situation Iran will improve if they themselves replace the Iranian government. While this is a noble and exciting cause, and may appear to naive Westerners to be the solution to the “Iran problem”, in fact it is not. The reason why is because, even in the name of peace and democracy, they lack legitimacy and support both abroad and at home—from which they have been exiled.

The MKO evolved from radical beginnings in 1963 to a full blown cult by 1987. By 2006 in order to boost its image and divert the public from its affinity as a cult, (on behalf of the Israeli government) provided dubious information to U.S. officials regarding Iran’s nuclear program. [4] Currently they are focusing on hard lobbying and a massive propaganda campaign which aims to wipe out its cult-image and ugly terrorist activities, with their main goal of being removed from the U.S. State Department’s terrorist list. In order to do this they broadcast their own cable TV program. They publish their own news magazines. Their website epitomizes their effort to glorify themselves while selling the idea that they are the only option for a “free” Iran despite their brutal and dubious past—a past which includes numerous bloody incidents. The Council on Foreign Relations, a think tank which publishes Foreign Affairs, defines the MEK/MKO as having “targeted Iranian government officials and government facilities in Iran and abroad, and during the 1970s, it attacked Americans in Iran. While the group says it does not intentionally target civilians, it has often risked civilian casualties. It routinely aims its attacks at government buildings in crowded cities. MEK terrorism has declined since late 2001. [Some specific] incidents linked to the group include:

– The series of mortar attacks and hit-and-run raids during 2000 and 2001 against Iranian government buildings; one of these killed Iran’s chief of staff;
– The 2000 mortar attack on President Mohammed Khatami’s palace in Tehran;
– The February 2000 “Operation Great Bahman,” during which MEK launched twelve attacks against Iran;
– The 1999 assassination of the deputy chief of Iran’s armed forces general staff, Ali Sayyad Shirazi;
– The 1998 assassination of the director of Iran’s prison system, Asadollah Lajevardi;
– The 1992 near-simultaneous attacks on Iranian embassies and institutions in thirteen countries;
– Saddam Hussein’s suppression of the 1991 Iraqi Shiite and Kurdish uprisings;
– The 1981 bombing of the offices of the Islamic Republic Party and of Premier Mohammad-Javad Bahonar, which killed some seventy high-ranking Iranian officials, including
President Mohammad-Ali Rajaei and Bahonar;
– The 1979 takeover of the U.S. embassy in Tehran by Iranian revolutionaries;
– The killings of U.S. military personnel and civilians working on defense projects in Tehran in the 1970’s. "[5]

For years MKO operatives inside and outside Iran have committed premeditated murder against civilians and government officials, and the murders stem from a terrorist substance, taking place boldly and randomly. The MKO and its supporters call these attacks acts "resistance against the regime," writes Washington Times journalist Kenneth Timmerman. [6]
After the Rajavis’ fled from Iran to France in 1985, France became their sponsor. And then following the rapprochement between France and Iran, the leaders were expelled to Iraq where they became Saddam Hussein’s proxy force against Iranians, Iraqi Kurds and Iraqi Shiites. Following the collapse of Saddam Hussein, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki wanted them to be expelled from Iraq. In 2009, Abigail Hauslohner documented for Time that, al-Maliki “warned that an Iranian resistance group, the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK), would no longer be able to have a base on Iraqi territory.” [7]

Recently, as the MKO focuses on cleaning up their image, their violence against civilians has dwindled—and so has their ability to influence Western politicians and intellectuals, especially the U.S. figures who view MKO’s terrorist acts against their fellowmen unpardonable. In his June article, Timmerman, with a sense of urgency, addresses American readers, that “the MEK has a long record of carrying out violent attacks inside Iran. During the period leading up to the 1979 revolution, the group proudly murdered U.S. military officers and civilians working in Iran. And while the group’s current leadership and its apologists claim that those attacks were carried out by a splinter group no longer associated with the MEK, eyewitnesses tell me that the MEK continued to celebrate the anniversary of those murders in ceremonies and song in their training camps inside Iraq all through the 1980s.” [8]

As Timmerman and other journalists continue to outline the MKO’s history of aggression and eccentricity, perhaps Westerners will become aware that the MKO is counting on the West’s gullibility. In their homeland however, support from foreign aggressors—particularly Iraq and the United States—works against them. Daniel Byman, the author of Deadly Connections: States That Sponsor Terrorism theorizes that “many terrorist groups fight in the name of liberation, whether national or religious. If a group is perceived as being controlled by a foreign power, however its credibility as a liberation force diminishes […] The Mujahedin-e-Kalq (MEK), a terrorist group that opposes the clerical regime in Tehran, lost any legitimacy it had when it began to conduct operations out of Iraq during the Iran-Iraq war.” [9]

The MKO should never replace any form of government in Iran simply because they are not a legitimate group. They are terrorists.

Maryam Rajavi, Taverny gathering and fruitless tumult

On July 26th, when MKO propaganda champagne held a gathering in Jean bouin stadium in a small town called Taverny, Maryam Rajavi had nothing to say except repeating her previous nonsense. She was even unable to present new ideas for MKO members. She could not suggest a solution for the mire MKO was stuck in although MKO made efforts to get rid of it.

I listened to Maryam Rajavi’s speech on Simaye Azadi[MKO’s TV channel] carefully. The conclusion I made was that she implicitly expressed depressing pulses just like those wrinkles on her face which signifies her senility.

As usual she repeated some mottos and clichés, crying loudly but there was no sign of her harmony with the modern world and its evolutions, neither no sign of understanding the reality in her words. The names and positions of people who attended the gathering as MKO sympathizers seemed also astonishing to me. Besides some trivial political figures including the mayors of Ouver Sur d’Oise and Taverny who were generously funded by MKO, you could see John Bolton former American ambassador in UN, who is anti UN and an anti-Iran neo-conservative. Maryam Rajavi might know better than everyone that inviting John Bolton to attend MKO’s gathering and to speak as an MKO sponsor, in fact signifies the refusal of all principals of the struggle once MKO founders insisted on. Being trapped by politic men of the alleged Imperialists and warmongers such as John Bolton and siding with such an anti-Iran person, shows an extreme scandal of the self-assigned president Maryam Rajavi.

A look at thoughts and personality of this warmonger element reveals shocking facts to those who still have a sense of nationalism and patriotism. These facts may clarify the border between right and wrong.

During his speech in the gathering, John Bolton clearly described his anti-Iranian ideas. "I don’t think that sanctions will prevent the regime from its nuclear weapon program. In my opinion, the sanctions can be helpful for the day the regime falls. We need much more than sanctions.

But, who is John Bolton? He is a senior member of American Enterprise Institute, Council of National Policy and an analyst of FoxNews, also an active member of Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs.

He is an extremist rightist neo-conservative who was imposed to Collin Powel by Dick Chenny the then American vice-president Iin order to supervise the moderate policies of that retired General. He believes that international treaties and even the UN limit America’s hegemony over the world.

At the time of the meeting of vote of confidence he resorted to dissimulation and deception so he could win 57 pro votes against 43 cons. During that meeting Jesse Helms, the extremist senator who approved the "Helms-Bolton" law to impose sanctions on foreign oil firms in order not to invest in Iran, supported her henchman John Bolton by saying words that revealed Bolton’s nature. "John Bolton is the kind of man with whom I would want to stand at Armageddon …[or what Bible calls] the last battle between good and evil."

Ian Williams, UN’s Washington Report correspondent is completely familiar with John Bolton. He warns:"it is not clear where Bolton stands on Armageddon, but it is clear he has the greatest sympathy with the Christian Right’s world view." among these rightist one may find Dick Chenny, Donald Ramsfeld and his under secretary Paul Wolfovitz. "It would be very dangerous to ignore Bolton’s statement. These are harbingers of endless wars" Williams continues.

Mrs. Maryam Azdanlou [Rajavi] probably invited John Bolton to her gathering despite her perfect awareness of his anti-Iranian views including "the relations of America with other countries should be like that of a hammer and a nail."

Richard Curtiss, a contributor to Washington Report reveals that "Bolton seems very dogmatic in his prejudices. He has champagned tirelessly against the International Criminal Court".

Bolton is a supporter of Wolfwitz’s "Opposite Domino Theory", according to Mark Perlman, a correspondent of Forward journal. Wolfowitz believes that invading Iraq would serve as a domino to extend the US’s influence in other parts of the region.

John Bolton who once played an important role in mobilizing the White House and Pentagon to invade Iraq, is now seeking more tensions between Washington, Tehran and Damascus Public opinion, believes that Bolton operates as a radical figure to create a balance against some American moderate politicians. Bolton views Iran and Syria as serious threats to Israel and never allows them to harm Telaviv’s security and esteem. During Bush, the father administration, he prevented the approval of a law that would see Zionism equivalent to Racism. Also, when in London he was asked why Washington would not take a similar approach towards Israel’s nuclear program, he answered:"the US is concerned about the threats against us and our allies ….we do not protect Israel but we protect the benefits of the US."

American famous journalists and experts think that what makes Bolton’s call for Iran’s ban (according to NPT) on its nuclear program funny, is that Bolton himself never believes in respecting international laws.

About four years ago, John Bolton declared clearly: "It’s a big mistake for us to grant validity to international law even when it may seem in our short-term interest to so."

Despite what public opinion expect "Bolton has been a staunch advocate of the Bush administration’s revival of the "Star Wars" missile defense system and its rejection of the anti-Ballistic Treaty." Richard Curtiss writes.

"John Bolton is to diplomacy as Jack the Ripper was to sugury, said Ian Williams to Nation Magazine.

Now, there is a question to ask Maryam Azdanlou: when you and other leaders of MKO terrorist cult are in the same campaign with anti-humane and anti-Iranian politicians and supported by them, what is your position?

Are you in position of a patriot or that of a traitor or our enemy’s mercenary?

Representatives of Pro-Israili interests rully to promote Mojahedin Khalq terroristsTwo days ago, I found it curious to learn of a large rally held in Paris by the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI, also known as MEK or MKO) by reading the headlines on Ynet and on Ha’aretz. I usually follow Iranian opposition events via various other Iranian websites, where the rally was not mentioned. And while the Israeli press can be counted upon to have nearly daily entries in its hysterical campaign towards a military confrontation with Iran, it still seemed curious to find this rally by a relatively discredited Iranian opposition group featured so prominently on these Israeli websites. But then reading closely the matter was clarified somewhat (from Ha’aretz):
The rally by the PMOI, which Washington considers to be a terrorist organisation, was attended by former US ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton and Jose Maria Aznar, the former prime minister of Spain.
Bolton and Aznar were there to represent a transatlantic coalition of neoconservative pro-Israeli interests who seem to wish to promote the PMOI as the legitimate opposition to Iran’s clerical regime. Bolton’s credentials need no rehearsal here, but let’s not forget that Aznar has recently signed on as a founding member of a European Friends of Israel, in the face of the disastrous repercussions of the Gaza Freedom flotilla raid. The reason for this is fairly clear: on the issues of Israel and on Iran’s nuclear program the current movement is dedicated to promoting an independent policy for the country. While it is likely they would take a very different tone and approach to both issues, the current movement will likely do little to satisfy the interests of the Israel Lobby and neoconservatives for a pro-Israeli and subservient Iran. With the PMOI as the only reasonably well-established alternative, these groups have thrown their lot in with them. If the confrontation with Iran becomes military in nature, it seems likely that the PMOI will be (again) touted by these interests as the “leadership in exile” for any regime-change scenario.
This is not entirely new. During the Bush years, the PMOI sought alliances with the neoconservatives in the US, with a number of bipartisan congressmen acting as intermediaries to call for their removal from the terrorist list, and to advocate for their recognition as a legitimate Iranian opposition group. They are now at it again, with a new move to give legitimacy to the group launched just days ago, with a number of congressmen signed on. In the past, highly-placed neoconservatives such as Richard Perle have attended PMOI-related events and spoke positively of the group. And the group has done much to complement the interests of these allies: they were instrumental in building up the case for Iran’s nuclear program, and have supplied intelligence they claim to have gathered from inside Iran to bolster the case for an arms program — it’s unclear how accurate or legitimate this intelligence may be, but there are certainly shades of the famous WMD intelligence relating to Iraq in all of this.
Among most prominent activists in the Iranian opposition, the PMOI is rarely remembered kindly, when they are bothered to be remembered at all. Already discredited among most Iranians for their alliance with Saddam Hussein during the Iran-Iraq war, and despised by Kurds everywhere for willfully participating in Hussein’s genocidal campaigns against them, the Mojahedin have come to be seen by most Iranians as an embarrassing aberration in the political landscape. While the Islamic Republic has a virulent hostility towards the group, most secular left or reformist Iranians also will have nothing to do with the group and reject its inclusion in any coalitions to oppose the regime. In Europe and the US, during anti-regime demonstrations supporting the current movement, the appearance of PMOI flags or leaflets often led to standoffs and even fights among the demonstrators, with PMOI agents far outnumbered. They now stand all alone in the Iranian scene, with their only true supporters drawn from the Israel Lobby and the margins of US and European politics.
What is so strange is that there they had once acted as the vanguard of revolutionary activity and as a synthesis of leftist and Islamist idealism in the first years of the post-revolutionary period. However, in exile they have been transformed into a political irrelevancy, made worse by their adoption of cult-like policies to maintain discipline in their ranks. The group demands of the rank-and-file a troubling adoration of the figure of Maryam Rajavi, the nominal leader of the group, relying on systems of regular debriefing and self-criticism which are mandatory for all members. Furthermore the group exerts control of many aspects of members’ personal lives, including in matters of marriage, divorce and parenting. Given what they have become, any idea of their resurgence as a valid player in Iranian politics strikes me as one of the most terrifying possibilities for Iran’s future. Their placement on the US terrorism list was clearly a political gesture during Clinton’s administration, but many Iranians find them more troubling for reasons other than the terrorist acts they have carried out.
Rather than hear me describe these, I think it’s better to let the PMOI represent themselves — in videos they have produced. Also, here, and here and here (and you can find many more just by clicking on the related videos or googling the group’s other videos). It baffles the mind that the PMOI are so blind as to how out-of-touch their fascistic aesthetics are with the ideals of Iran’s democratic opposition and their supporters. Check out the videos linked above, produced by the PMOI to publicize "celebrations" and other group events held in their base in Iraq, and tell me if you don’t find a chill creeping down your spine… Echoes of Triumph of the Will, or the Dear Leader…
Bizarrely, the PMOI continues to enjoy support even among some on the US left. The Huffington Post, for example, offers a forum to two of the group’s more active US propagandists, Ali Safavi and Alireza Jafarzadeh. It seems likely that we’ll be hearing more about them once again as the talk of a military confrontation grows. It’s no surprise that the neocons and Israel’s most steadfast supporters are also now openly backing the PMOI.

MKO and Grasping for Support in a Very Wrong Way

In the 1920’s Joseph Stalin, in the spirit of socialization, had plans for justice, democracy and peace. He envisioned a classless society. But his narrowness of perspective combined with an ethnically and politically diverse population became a major challenge in building unity and Former members of MKO have compared its leaders to Stalinconsensus. Slavery flourished. And ultimately what became central during his tenure was the building of his cult of personality. His totalitarian leadership, perpetual lying, and deception eventually ushered in the near-destruction of Soviet Russia. Eventually Stalin had no support from the people he so desperately wanted to save.
 
More than half a century has passed since the world has known of Stalin’s terror and his cult of personality. But beware: There is similar potential retribution toward the country of Iran as the dissident group, Mujahedin el Khalq (MKO) attempts to use the media to sell a message that they exist in the name of justice, democracy and peace. Former members of the group have compared its leaders to Stalin. [1]

Maryam Rajavi, the leader of the MKO, like Stalin, is also a cult of personality and her justice-democracy-peace campaign is deceitful. Her cheap catch-words for the organization’s ultimate goal of overthrowing the Iranian regime—and this goal has been in place for more than three decades—are wrong. In the MKO’s grand effort to achieve power in Tehran, they have stepped up their focus on trying to erase a weird, violent, and bloody past while increasing effort to legitimize their current fiction.

Sam Dealey, a journalist, who in January 2010 became Editor in Chief for the Washington Times, specified eight years ago how the MKO managed to win the support of mainstream US politicians. Dealey’s well researched claim is that “the [MKO’s] political representatives in the U.S. have worked hard to repackage the group as a legitimate dissident organization fighting for democracy in Iran—whitewashing its record and duping our leaders.” [2] And Dealey’s statement still applies today because currently the same political representatives—the crisis mongers of the MKO—are challenging the West’s policy towards Iran while feeding the public mendacity. After a 30-year track record of fabrication, the group’s latest headliner sham proclaims that Iran has nuclear capabilities. But fortunately some US politicians who are aware of the MKO’s track record of producing false and misleading information, along with weapons inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), are very suspicious about what MKO leadership says. [3]

After all, in 2003, ten MKO members (two of whom died) staged a bizarre show of solidarity towards their leader, Maryam Rajavi, by setting themselves on fire in cities around Europe. Before the self- immolations even took place, Sam Dealey wrote, “Despite its violent history, the People’s Mujahedin would like to gain international legitimacy as Iran’s ‘government in exile.’ Its immediate goal is to get its name off the State Department’s list of terrorist organizations; to that end, it now purports to support a host of democratic ideals, from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to freedom of religion and the free market. It has even abandoned its revolutionary flag — composed of a Koran verse, a sickle, and a Kalashnikov assault rifle — for that of the former shah, whom they worked to depose.” [4]

As early as 1997, TIME ran an in depth article about the group, citing the State Department’s report that the MKO “has Marxist leanings,” and “few democratic tendencies.” TIME’s journalists, observed that “[MKO] troops wear no insignia of rank, live communally and receive no pay. They have taken a vow to remain celibate until Iran is freed. And all express near fanatical loyalty to the woman they hope to install as the next President of Iran: Maryam Rajavi.” Michael Eisenstadt, an Iran expert at the Washington Institute on Near East Policy asserts that there is an unhealthy cult of personality around Maryam and Massoud Rajavi. He writes, “If they were to achieve power, it is unlikely they would give it up. The [MKO] are simply not a viable alternative to the current regime because of their ties to Iraq.” [5]

Most recently, Ali Safavi, the MKO’s primary lobbyist in Washington DC, and also a frequent contributor to the Huffington Post, is making a huge effort to deviate the public’s attention away from the group’s strange cult practices and history of terror. He’s pushing the message that the MKO is a legitimate option for the future of Iran, and opportunistically maintains that Maryam Rajavi is the "most prominent Iranian opposition leader" who "has called on the West to support democratic change in Iran by the Iranian people and their organized resistance movement.” He urges President Obama to “strengthen Iran’s democratic opposition,” and “set his sights on a strategic Iran policy by removing obstacles on the path of democratic Iranian opposition groups,” and also criticizes the US administration’s smart and cautious policy towards Iran, claiming that “the track of [US] pressure is insufficient and engagement is problematic.” [6] In short Safavi is suggesting that the Obama administration can and should close dialogue and stop diplomacy with Iran, and then remove the MKO from the State Department’s list of Designated Foreign Terrorist Organizations. Safavi’s ideal proposal would make way for a terrorist cult group to replace the Iranian government. But Savafi’s proposal must convince more than just the Americans.

Iranians all over the world will admit that the MKO has no support among the Iranian nation. The MKO turned against their own people, as they sided with Saddam Hussein during the war with Iraq. In 2000, Wilfried Buchta of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, and author of Who Rules Iran? The Structure of Power in the Islamic Republic, analyzes the formal and informal power structures in the Islamic Republic and assesses both the future of the reform movement and the prospects for peaceful change in Iran. [7] Buchta asserts, "The large majority of Iranians inside and outside the country reject the MEK [MKO] because of its support for Bagdad during the Iran-Iraq war and for its [continued] alliance with Saddam. As a result it has only a small dwindling power base in Iran." [8]

As Iran remains in the spotlight, for the sake of public edification, the reality of the MKO must be exposed. The details of the horrors committed by MKO—either against Iranians or their own members in the organization—were the direct result of their terrorist and destructive cult-like nature. Be aware that their campaign is strong, and that MKO opportunists, with their shifty arrangement of excuses regarding past terrorist activities, believe that the seat of political power will be handed to them by the West—if they can persuade the unaware powerful. They simply exist in a very wrong way. They will vitally need the support of the Iranian people—and this is what they mostly lack.

MKO, Leftist Extremists or Imperialist’s footman?

Extremist leftism ends with Rightism. This is a logical statement which has been proved by historic experiences so far. Without considering historical backgrounds MKO failed to realize the real situation of Iran so it resorted to anti human violence and terrorism. Terror strategy and then armed struggle of NLA presented by MKO leaders didn’t enjoy any public support in Iranian society but it was strongly supported by foreign regimes including Baathist of Iraq. That large-scale financial and military support symbolized MKO extremist leftist behavior.

One might conclude that MKO represented a type of fascist populist leftist movement for more than two decades because MKO leaders have never had clear, realistic and defined ideas. Their ideas include some ways to face political theories which eventually makes the leaders stuck in a pure pragmatism where they are not able to view the realities around them. Their abnormal exaggeration about mental issues and their irrational altercation towards political and social issues result in an illusion due to which leaders suppose that they can achieve power in near future and therefore they launch blind operations that end in their signal failure. Such a tendency is what Lenin calls "Syndrome of Childish Leftism".

It is obvious that MKO leaders and particularly Massoud Rajavi supposed their illogic ideological and political demands as concrete realities. Their extreme abstraction caused their false understanding of political and regional equations to the extent that they consider families of forces under their control [Ashraf residents] as "enemy, spy or traitor". This kind of consideration shows zenith of MKO’s imaginary false understanding.

The outcome of such an abstraction is a type of blind will that never obeys a clear logic. Thus MKO leaders obsessed with such an illogic premise do not realize their current situation which is a total cul-de-sac. In their opinion the world is viewed as black or white; everything or nothing. This worldview results in a constant adventurousness and anarchy in MKO’s interests and activities.

At last, after two decades of failures, the current declining situation is inevitable although they pretended to be excessively hopeful in short term, in fact they suffer a huge depression.
Since MKO leaders misunderstand their organization’s condition, they are stuck in a defective cycle of "absolute denial of others" and "extreme violence". This ends in their disability to solve their strategic or tactical contradictions, and eventually the gradual defection of their forces. All this leads MKO from ultra leftist interests (in theory) to rightist activities (in action) as Imperialist’s mercenary and Capitalists’ footman. Today, MKO leader take the same positions of America warmongers and capitalists!
