This marked a dark day for the legitimacy and credibility of the EU. Indeed, inviting Maryam Rajavi goes against the very core principles of democracy and its practice. Mrs. Maryam rajavi and her organization which she represents have never stood by any of her claim of a believer in democracy and human rights.

She said that”since MKO are known as a terrorist group and their name is among EU terrorist list therefore , they are prevented for attending the assembly.”Followed by Angelika Beer, Michael Matison read a report on legal rights in EU Parliament. Then Senator Josie Doubie shared his personal experience visiting the Camp Ashraf . He mentioned MKO is a cult group by the definition of the cult.
The European Parliament, in a meeting Tuesday, clarified that a European court ruling on the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) in December referred to procedural matters and in no way changes the status of the MKO as a terrorist group
This Council announced on January 31 that according to the ruling of the court it would provide the MKO with reasons of freezing its assets. The Council also stated that it would give a month to the MKO to present documents to defend itself before the Council announces the final decision.*
“For the time being, they are on the list,” said Jean-Claude Piris, legal counsel to the 25 EU governments. “But we have to examine it as soon as possible.” EU governments said in a statement that the court’s ruling did not call into question the EU’s antiterrorist list. It said that the judgment also did not call into question a decision by EU governments that group was a terrorist organisation. ..
In an article by James Graff,”Are The PMOI Iran’s last Hope For A Peaceful Solution?”, TIME Europe has discussed the position of the MKO in the west. Graff wrote:
“…But there are also reasons why Western governments remain wary: among them are the group’s ideological origins in a mixture of Marxism and Islam, the aid they offered to and received from Saddam Hussein, and charges, which they deny, implicating them in terrorist acts in Iran….
I am dismayed that the European Court is considering removal of the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK/MKO) from the list of organizations participating in acts of terrorism and violence. The prospect of support for this group is not only a grave foreign policy error in the ongoing war on terror but a great dishonor to the victims of September 11th and a disgrace to the civilized world…The MKO’s terror record is extensive and includes assassinations of American citizens and widespread bombings in Iran throughout the 1970s. ..
