the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) or the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) terrorist groups turn Iraq into a base against friendly countries in the region. That is what Iraq needs to end a phase of anarchy following the fall of the dictator who acted as the god-father of terrorism and groups like MKO that is notoriously known to have acted as Saddam’s mercenaries and private army.
He said that Iran has also expressed concerns over ‘Mujahedin Khalgh’ an Iranian opposition terrorist group (MKO) to employ Iraq’s territories to target some ends in Iran. “Iraqi government should adopt swift measures to resolve this crisis,”he said. Al- Enzi stressed that any delay in resolving the MKO terrorists and PKK rebels’ crisis would have negative affect on Iraq- Turkey and Iraq- Iran ties.
While different peace-seeking groups and the plaintiffs are demanding implementation of the court ruling, the arrest warrants will produce no results unless the US troops show cooperation, and this has faced the US with a new challenge to prove its allegations about the fight against terrorism in Iraq. Referring to the Iraqi government’s decision to deport the Mujahedin Khalq terrorist group from Iraq in 2004 and the disagreement of the US, Hakim stated,”Deportation of MKO members from Iraq has always been one of the subjects of discussion among Iraqi and US officials.”
In an interview with Al-Ahali newspaper, Jafar al-Mousawi, the chief prosecutor of Iraq’s high criminal court said:”The court has documents proving the involvement of Mojahedin-e Khalq organization in killing and assassinating 35 Iraqi citizens in southern Iraq in 1991.”
…Asked about the recent announcement by Interpol that the leaders of the banned Mojahedin Khalq organisation are being arrested if there are any plans for them to be extradited? Hojjat-Ol-Eslam Mohseni-Ezhe’i said that there are no plans as such but he hoped that the Iraqi people will put these figures on trial as they collaborated with the government of Saddam Hoseyn and they have been involved in acts of suppression against the Kurds…
Mousawi further commented that the terrorist group had supported Saddam Hussein’s Baath regime, aiding in the suppression of the Iraqi people’s uprising in 1991 and the torture and massacre of innocent people in the northern and southern regions of the country.
In an interview with Aswat al-Iraq, he added:”After documents and evidences were collected on MKO’s involvement in killing Iraqis and plundering their properties, the case is now in judicial phase.””American forces can’t protect the MKO against Iraq’s judiciary, which seeks the punishment of the group.”
