Iraqi defense minister has said that the Iraq government is planning the expulsion of members of the banned Iranian terrorist group MKO.Abdul-Kader Jassem al-Obeidi noted that the terrorists of the Mujahedeen Khalq Organization (MKO) should no longer remain in Iraq.
The envoy assured that the Iraqi government does not permit any action against the Islamic Republic. He put the volume of Tehran-Baghdad trade at dlrs 2.4 billion, calling for expansion of mutual cooperation in all fields. Referring to the exporting electricity to Iraq, he underlined that the Islamic Republic has launched some electricity projects in the cities of Shalamcheh and Basra which are in final stages.
Iraqi officials have contacted the Iraqi citizens who intend to press charges against the members of this terrorist group, he said, adding that the plaintiffs’ statements would be heard and collected, and based on the Iraqi Constitution, the appropriate ruling will be made.
Al-Ameri commented on the presence of other armed groups such as the PKK in the country and said Iraq is against the presence of any foreign armed group that poses a threat to neighboring countries. He added that Baghdad would try to expel ..
Elsewhere in his remarks, Mottaki said no matter under what pretext terrorist groups such as Mujahideen Khalq Organization (MKO), Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) or the Party for Free Life in Kurdistan (PJAK) act, what is important is their actions which disturb security in the region, he added.
Iraqi interior minister, said:”Iraq cooperates with neighboring countries on the issue of fighting terrorism. We pursue terrorist elements in our soil.”He stressed that a country alone wouldn’t be able to succeed in the fight against terrorism, adding:”There are a number of terrorist groups in Iraq, including PKK, MKO, Ansar al-Sunnah, Ansar al-Islam and others, whose presence is a threat to Iraqi people ..
“As they entered Iraq, Americans noted that they have never seen such unity between the two countries. Therefore, they occupied Iraq under the name of democracy while their end goal is to divide the two nations,”he added. “It is a crucial time for Iranians and Iraqis because the occupiers and terrorists try to divide them.
Jafar al-Mousavi, the head of Iraq’s high criminal court, stressed that the Iranian opposition group Mojahedin-e khalq would be informed of its charges for its involvement in suppression of Sha’banieh uprising during 1991 in Iraq’s Southern and Northern provinces.
“We have made probes into crimes that the former regime committed with cooperation of various groups, and during the investigations we have collected documents that prove the complicity of Mojahedin-e-Khalq in inhumane actions in southern and northern Iraq in 1991, the so-called Sha baniyyah Revolution,” he noted.
The Organization for Protection of Iraqis’ Rights”called on the Iraqi government to prosecute the MKO leaders, who have been involved in killing more than 780 Iraqis during their presence in Iraq.
