Despite the repeated requests made by the UN Secretary General, just two European countries, Albania and Germany, offered asylum to members of the terrorist Mujahedin-e Khalq group. In late March, Albania offered to grant asylum to 210 MKO/MEK/PMOI members in Iraq. But, the group’s spokesperson has immediately turned down the offer.
An Iraqi official disclosed the close relationship and cooperation between the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO, also known as the MEK, NCRI and PMOI) and al-Qaeda terrorist group.“The MKO committed numerous crimes against the Iraqi people during Saddam’s era and after the US invasion of the country and the government has many documents showing links between the MKO and several leaders of al-Qaeda….
The American political analyst added that, even in the West, the MEK is known as one of the world’s most vicious and extremist terrorist groups. “The 2012 US de-listing and subsequent support of the MEK is an extreme example of the characteristic hypocrisy that guides US policy on terrorism.”
The MEK intensified their terrorist operations in August 1981. In their biggest terrorist operation they destroyed by explosion the office of the National Security Council killing Prime Minister Mohammad Javad Bahonar and President Mohammad Ali Rajaei who had been elected only three months before…The MEK who were based in England claimed the responsibility of the bombing. They also officially claimed the responsibility of assassinating religious leaders in different cities..
