McCain does not help the MKO

A Dutch friend of mine who has recently returned from a business trip to Iran, asked me, “Why many taxi drivers in Tehran are interested in international politics?” In fact, after asking him where he is from, some drivers who could speak English began discussing issues such as the rise of right-wing in Europe, Syrian war, and Trump.

I tried to explain to him that Iranians, in general, are interested in political issues which are probably because of the important geopolitical location of the country. However, we should not ignore the impact of too many media which broadcast politics in a daily basis. He was long enough in Iran and had contact with diplomatic community Iran which provided him with a clear image about the country. So I asked him about the people`s interest in opposition abroad. He glanced and said, No chance at all. Any reform would begin from inside.

I agree. The groups like MKO (aka Mojahedin Khalq of Iran) are never forgiven by Iranian people for their betrayal to the motherland and supporting Saddam Hossein during Iran-Iraq war. It is well known that the group consists of a bunch of older fanatics and a few younger robots. A long time ago they lost their respect and support. But can Senator John McCain help them to change their poor image?

Recently in a trip to Albania, which also hosts MKO members as refugees now, he paid a visit to them and to the group’s leader Maryam Rajavi. However, I have reasons to believe that McCain`s visit to MKO does not bring popularity or credit for the group with a notorious terrorist background.

1- McCain and people like him who visit MKO and attend their events (like the Saudis or other retired American officials) are not popular people themselves. They do not support human right, pluralism or political development. Even worst, among these types of MKO supporters, many have clearly demanded a war on Iran! So how this gang of politically incorrect people can add value to MKO?

2- People like McCain consider MKO as a tool to pressure Tehran, in favor of the rival Saudis. They are fully aware that the group is unpopular in Iran. Thus despite what MKO wants to show in its propaganda, McCain uses them to send a message to Tehran. MKO is only a channel of communication! Therefore it can be concluded that the American and Saudis who participate in MKO meetings are not supporting the group but opposing Tehran. Personally, I think that they have been making the same old dumb mistake.

3- Iranian people have historically shown that they are not in favor of changes from abroad, nor from foreign powers getting involved in their issues. This is a fact that has been confirmed by the more rationale employees of the state department. Therefore such lobby programs are not appreciated by Iranian people and reformist opposition. As a consequence, these types of meetings do not accredit MKO.

In conclusion, it can be argued that MKO gains nothing by organizing meetings with warlords, right-wing activists, and Saudis. A group which is unpopular in Iran has proven that will not be accepted as a player in Iran. My Dutch friend also agreed and added: “Iranians hebben een hekel aan MKO. Which means Iranians hate MKO.”

The Enemy of My Enemy is NOT Always My Friend

They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

I’m starting to think John McCain may fit that definition.

All due respect to the Senator from Arizona, whose military service during Vietnam was both brave and heroic, but it completely escapes me why he continues to support “rebel” organizations who many times end up being just as dangerous as the despotic regimes.

There was a group in Afghanistan led by a fellow named Osama Bin Laden whom we armed during the cold war. There are rebels in Syria to whom we have given arms. These are just two examples of many instances where the strategy of backing the “enemy of my enemy” blew up in our faces.

McCain recently held a meeting with the head of MKO – a rebel faction opposed to the current Iranian regime – where he sang the group’s praises.

While I understand McCain’s dislike and distrust of the Iranian regime and Assad, MKO may not be quite so innocent, either, as they stand accused of thousands of deaths.

In fact, as recently as 2012, MKO was listed as a terrorist organization by both the United States and the European Union. There are many questions about what they may or may not have done, but there is no question about what they want.

“Today, there is a consensus in the Middle East about the clerical regime’s destructive role and that the religious fascism ruling Iran is the primary source of war, terrorism and crisis in the region,” said Maryam Rajavi, MKO’s leader.

“Regime change is not only indispensable to ending the egregious violations of human rights in Iran but also to establishing peace and tranquility in the region. As long as the clerical regime is in power, it will not abandon the export of terrorism and fundamentalism.”

Regime change. Just like Nicaragua. Or Afghanistan. Or Iraq. Or Libya. Or countless other nations we made unquestionably worse with our involvement.

Of course, McCain is by no means alone in his insanity.

According to Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh, U.S. intelligence has been working with MKO for quite some time. Bin Laden had worked with U.S. intelligence for quite a while as well, when we were fighting the Soviets and saw him and his group as an asset.

And that’s really the point here: The “enemy of my enemy is my friend” philosophy simply does not work. We have been slapped in the face with this fact over and over again, but like a battered wife who keeps returning to her abusive husband, we keep thinking that next time will be different.

But as we know all too well by now, this always plays out the same in the end. Today’s ally is tomorrow enemy. Today’s freedom fighters are tomorrow’s terrorists. And vice versa.

You would think we would have learned our lesson by now, but apparently, we still haven’t. I don’t know what it is going to take, but through their constant repeating of the same mistake, I’m pretty sure that if the government were a person, they would be wearing a strait jacket at this point.

Greetings I , Zahra MOEINI , am an Iranian-German who worked with Rajavi Cult in Iraq for many years or i would better say that i was a captive in that cult because i did not have any freedom whatsoever to communicate with the free world and my family . In that cult all the married couples were forced to get divorced by the direct order of Massoud and Maryam Rajavi. This forced separations was not just for married couples , the single ones also had to get divorced from their imaginary spouse in their minds . After those separations and forced divorces , all those married couples who had kids in that cult , were ordered by the leadership of this notorious cult to send their kids either to Iran or to foreign countries such as Europe and United States . Those miserable kids were sent to the fake associations of this cult in other countries and those associations gathered money from foreign people in the pretext of accomodating and feeding those kids , but in reality all those money which were gathered were sent to Iraq to buy bullets , arms , and ammunition for that cult . In 1992 , i got out of Iraq with Maryam Rajavi as her bodyguard and a member of her security team with almost 450 members of that cult and we entered France . After a while , i was sent to Germany and despite of my injury in Iraq , i was asked to go on streets to gather money from the foreign people for the cult purposes . For collecting money , we were told by the cult operatives that the European people are very naive and they believe whatever we say ,easily. We were told that we should not talk about our work with others outside of the cult and that was a red line for each of us, but after a while i found out that some of those miserable kids who were separated forcibly from their parents in Iraq were left alone in metro without any support and some of them were sexually abused by some of the cult supporters in California , USA. Those guys got caught by justice but when they came out of prison with the cooperation and coordination of the cult they could escaped from California and from Mexican Bay they could go out of USA. When i was in Germany i found out alot about their lies hypocracy and fraud and also i found out that this brutal and notorious cult does not care about the life and death of those stranded members in Iraq . This brutal cult does not care about the families of those stuck and stranded members and see them as enemy , so as i mentioned above , after finding out of all those atrocities and brutalities , i decided to escape from this notorious cult and i informed the German government about this cult. I would like to ask you a question as an independant and free media , do you know any organization or person or a political party who claims that he is pro democracy and freedom but he threatens his opponents and the critics to death ??yes this brutal cult threatened me to death just because i revealed some facts about them . Did you know that in this cult if someone wants to have a free life , he or she will be punished and the leaders of this cult force them to stay and work in the cult ? Did you know that in this cult , the leaders all the time brag about freedom and democracy but in reality you can not find any of those and instead you will be confronted with the worst dictatorship ? Every year the leaders and operatives of this cult spend huge amount of money to gather the retired generals and politicians in France and now they do the same thing in your country with money which has been gained by selling the vital informations of Iranian borders to previous Iraqi government just to pretend that they have lots of international support !!!!!! As you know that Maryam Rajavi and some of her high ranking members and operatives of this cult have traveled to your country and they have stayed there to suppress and brainwash the members . I am ready to share my thoughts and my experiences about this cult with anyone who is interested in knowing them better specially about notorious Ashraf Garrison , whenever and wherever they prefer. I am urging all parliamenterians and political figures to scrutinize the situation of all those stuck and stranded members in Tirana , Albania who are deprived of having simple reunion with their parents of families and loved ones and it is forbidden for them to get in touch with their loved ones by the direct order of Maryam Rajavi . I am urging all political figures in Albania to put pressure on the leadership of this cult to allow the members to reunite with their families and loved ones and to have access the internet and cell phone freely and to be free to communicate with outside world . I would like to warn you about their propaganda and deception and hollow slogans about democracy and freedom which they are very good at .

Sen. McCain adds Maryam Rajavi to his long list of backed terrorists

U.S. Senator John McCain still has maintained his long tradition of embracing terror groups that are trying to overthrow the legitimate governments through acts of violence.

In the most recent case of such measures, McCain has praised the head of the terrorist Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO), Maryam Rajavi, in a meeting in the Albanian capital, Tirana.

McCain, who is on an official visit to Balkan states, met Rajavi and some other members of the notorious MKO group in Tirana on Friday.

He congratulated the terrorist group’s “successful transfer” from Iraq and praised its members for what he described as “sacrifice.”

“There is no doubt that people in this room have suffered not only themselves, but in the loss of their loved ones,” he said.

“You have stood up, fought, and sacrificed for freedom, for the right to live free, for the right to determine your future,” he added.

The comments come as the MKO is the most hated terrorist group among the Iranians because of its dark history of assassinations and bombings and for siding with the former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein in his eight-year war against Iran in the 1980s.

Out of the nearly 17,000 Iranians killed in terrorist assaults since the victory of Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution, about 12,000 have fallen victim to MKO’s acts of terror.

However, the terror group once had a presence in the United States and maintains offices in Europe.

The MKO was listed as a terrorist organization by the U.S. and European Union in 1997 and 2002 respectively, but as more efforts got directed to vilify Iran, the MKO got delisted by the EU on January 26, 2009 and by the U.S. on September 28, 2012.

After Washington formally removed the MKO from its list of terror organizations, the group became able to have its assets under the U.S. jurisdiction unfrozen and do business with the American entities. A number of U.S. officials received hundreds of thousands of dollars in fees for speaking on MKO’s behalf ever since.

However, American officials are not the only ones receiving money from the MKO in exchange for political support. On  July 9, 2016, former Saudi intelligence chief and former Saudi ambassador to Britain and the United States Prince Turki al-Faisal Al Saud spoke for 30 minutes before a crowd in Paris, France, for the annual conference of the MKO.

Don’t be surprised, McCain has a long record of backing terror groups

McCain has a long record of backing unsavory and vicious people that happen to support regime change or that share his hostility to certain other governments.

He was a cheerleader for the KLA during the Kosovo intervention, he was a fan of the rebellion in Libya from the start despite the presence of jihadists in their ranks, and he has been one of the most outspoken advocates of sending weapons to rebels in Syria on the pretense that they were “moderates.”

In addition to misjudging the “moderate” rebels, McCain has been a leading advocate for a policy that has sent weapons into Syria when they have been seized by Jabhat al-Nusra or ISIS.

Those are just the most obvious examples of McCain’s terrible judgment. McCain doesn’t discriminate when it comes to choosing allies of convenience in pursuing unwise and reckless goals, so it was probably just a matter of time before he started associating with the MEK.

Iran: McCain’s Meeting with MKO Leaders Indicates US Continued Support for Terrorist Groups

The Iranian foreign ministry rapped Republican Senator John McCain for his meeting with the ringleaders of Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO, also known as the MEK, PMOI and NCRI) in Albania, saying the move signified Washington’s continued support for the terrorist groups.

“Such contacts are nothing new and certain US officials have shown that they have failed to learn a thing from the history of the recent decades and rather attempted to further spread terrorism in the region through their measures,” Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi told reporters in his weekly press conference in Tehran on Monday.

“This meeting showed that despite changes in the US administration, their policies to nurture terrorism still continue and the US administration will certainly pay its costs in the future,” he added, implying that Washington’s support for terrorism will backfire.

The MKO, founded in the 1960s, blended elements of Islamism and Stalinism and participated in the overthrow of the US-backed Shah of Iran in 1979. Ahead of the revolution, the MKO conducted attacks and assassinations against both Iranian and western targets.

The group started assassination of the citizens and officials after the revolution in a bid to take control of the newly-established Islamic Republic. It killed several of Iran’s new leaders in the early years after the revolution, including the then President, Mohammad Ali Rajayee, Prime Minister, Mohammad Javad Bahonar and the Judiciary Chief, Mohammad Hossein Beheshti who were killed in bomb attacks by the MKO members in 1981.

The group fled to Iraq in 1986, where it was protected by Saddam Hussein and where it helped the Iraqi dictator suppress Shiite and Kurd uprisings in the country.

The terrorist group joined Saddam’s army during the Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-1988) and helped Saddam and killed thousands of Iranian civilians and soldiers during the US-backed Iraqi imposed war on Iran.

Since the 2003 US invasion of Iraq, the group, which now adheres to a pro-free-market philosophy, has been strongly backed by neo-conservatives in the United States, who argued for the MKO to be taken off the US terror list.

The US formally removed the MKO from its list of terror organizations in September 2012, one week after Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sent the US Congress a classified communication about the move. The decision made by Clinton enabled the group to have its assets under the US jurisdiction unfrozen and do business with the American entities, the State Department said in a statement at the time.

In September 2012, the last groups of the MKO terrorists left Camp Ashraf, their main training center in Iraq’s Diyala province. They have been transferred to Camp Liberty. Hundreds of the MKO terrorists have now been sent to Europe, where their names were taken off the blacklist even two years before the US.

The MKO has assassinated over 12,000 Iranians in the last 4 decades. The terrorist group had even killed large numbers of Americans and Europeans in several terror attacks before the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Some 17,000 Iranians have lost their lives in terror attacks in the 35 years after the Revolution.

Rumors were confirmed last September about the death of MKO ringleader, Massoud Rajavi, as a former top Saudi intelligence official disclosed in a gaffe during an address to his followers.

Rajavi’s death was revealed after Turki al-Faisal who was attending the MKO annual gathering in Paris made a gaffe and spoke of the terrorist group’s ringleader as the “late Rajavi” twice.

Faced with Faisal’s surprising gaffe, Rajavi’s wife, Maryam, changed her happy face with a complaining gesture and cued the interpreter to be watchful of translation words and exclude the gaffe from the Persian translation

Iran: US should pay for spreading terror in region

Iran has censured the United States’ role in spreading terror in the Middle East region, saying Washington should pay for its wrongdoings.

Speaking at a news briefing on Monday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said US officials have shown in recent decades that they have not learned from their previous experiences and have consistently contributed to the escalation of terrorism in the region through their wrongful policies and indecent behavior.

Qassemi said that Washington’s policy continued under the new administration. “This is a mistake, which the US government should pay for like its other mistakes,” the official asserted.

As a case in point, he cited Republican US Senator John McCain’s meeting with the head of the terrorist anti-Iran Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO), Maryam Rajavi, in the Albanian capital Tirana on Friday.

The MKO has carried out numerous terrorist attacks against Iranian civilians and government officials over the past three decades. Out of the nearly 17,000 Iranians killed in terrorist assaults since the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, about 12,000 have fallen victim to MKO’s acts of terror.

The meeting, which also featured some other members of the notorious group, saw the senator praising Rajavi by saying, “You have stood up, fought, and sacrificed for freedom, for the right to live free, for the right to determine your future.”

“This contact serves the same purpose (of terror expansion). These types of contacts are nothing new,” Qassemi analyzed.

Michael Rubin: John McCain embrace the enemy of the Iranian people

Regarding Senator McCain’s meeting with the leader of the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (the MKO), the American prominent journalist Michael Rubin posted an article on AEIdeas denouncing the senator’s “disappointing” act to support the group. Rubin is disappointed with the press release of the MKO propaganda on McCain’s visit of their Tirana base because he is he had regarded McCain as “by any standard, a great and principled American”.

In his article titled “What is John McCain thinking?”, Michael Rubin asks the senator some crucial questions:

“But, if the Chairman of the Armed Services Committee chooses to signal his support for the group, what’s the big deal? After all doesn’t the Mujahedin al-Khalq oppose the Islamic Republic of Iran? Enemy of my enemy etc? Unfortunately, not really. “

Then he presents a brief history on the MKO to prove the group’s untrustworthiness:

“Consider the Mujahedin al-Khalq’s history: It began as a reaction to the growth of Western liberal thought in Iran, embraced anti-American terrorism in the 1970s, and became a significant backer to the Islamic Revolution in Iran before revolutionary leader Ayatollah Khomeini ordered them purged. The Mujahedin responded with terrorism directed not just at the Islamic Republic’s top officials, but at the population at large. At its peak in July 1982, the group assassinated, on average, three regime officials per day. The straw that broke the camel’s back in Iranian public perception was that they sided with Saddam Hussein during the Iran-Iraq War. In effect, they became to ordinary Iranians what John Walker Lindh, the American Taliban, became to the American public.”

Rubin who has an experience of spending seven months in Iran while working on his doctoral dissertation testifies that the MKO enjoys no support among the Iranian public. This American scholar who is a tough critic of the Islamic Republic government does not ignore the hatred that the Iranian people feel towards the MKO. He explains the MKO’s hypocrisy to hide its cult-like nature under the rhetoric of democracy:

“After Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, the leadership of the organization changed its tune. Whereas once they had embraced Marxism, Islamism, and then during their Iraqi exile, Baathism, they suddenly reinvented themselves rhetorically as democrats. The problem is that they still operate, if not as terrorists, as a totalitarian cult. Masoud and Maryam Rajavi can even tell members who to marry and divorce. Whereas McCain and other U.S. officials were right to condemn the massacre of the Mujahedin all-Khalq by Iranian forces and their Iraqi proxy militias, this does not mean that the group needs to be tolerated or embraced in any way, shape, or form.”

Although Rubin admits his animosity towards the Iranian government, he warns his favorite senator: “McCain has embraced the enemy of our enemy in the Tehran regime, but he has also embraced the enemy of the Iranian people.”

Should we be afraid of Senator McCain meeting with the Mojahedin Khalq in Albania?

The belligerent US Senator John McCain’s visits in Kosovo and Albania are portrayed with positive colour by Albanian and Kosovan media. McCain despite his record as a warmonger and aggressor is treated as a person who will bring peace and democracy to the world. Since Albanian and Kosovan civil society is dead, McCain has not met with protests and demonstrations as he would have expected in Europe and throughout the West. And the media, which is controlled by owners who deal in drugs or are connected to power, have only spoken with positive tones about the visit.

However, during his visit to Tirana Senator McCain lost no time in having a special meeting with the 3500 Iranian jihadists which the Rama government housed in Albania. At a time when the law enforcement authorities of Albania and Kosovo, in order to ensure security for McCain’s visit, frightened the public with hysterical news that there would be terrorist attacks, and Kosovo arrested a Wahhabi psychopath for a song that he had made, all the media and police panic surrounding the visit was apparently something of a cover to hide the true reason for McCain’s visit to Albania.

He met with Iranian jihadists and their leader Maryam Rajavi. In the conditions that are running our world today in which the Americans are in open conflict with China, Korea, Russia, Syria, Turkey and Iran and the Third World War is expected to start at any moment, McCain’s visit to the Iranian jihadist camp was apparently intended to instruct the Iranian jihadis for their next fight.

Maryam Rajavi, while she Tweeted photos of the meeting between her jihadists with McCain, openly declares that her group is mobilized for war. But where will the cast of the Rajavi group be fighting? In Russia, Syria, Korea, China or Iran?

According to the Albanian civil code, Maryam Rajavi, should be arrested and punished for these statements in the same way that the Albanian Imams Genci Balla and Bujar Hysa were arrested and sentenced before. But in Albania Albanian jihadists are imprisoned, while Iranian jihadis are privileged to do jihad at the behest of John McCain.

In 1986, the terrorist group’s members fled Iran for Iraq, where they received support from the then Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, and set up Camp Ashraf, now known as Camp New Iraq, in Diyala Province near the Iranian border.

The terrorist group also sided with the former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, during Iraq’s eight-year imposed war against Iran in the 1980s. The terrorist group also helped Saddam in his brutal crackdown on his opponents.

In December 2011, the UN and Baghdad agreed to relocate some 3,000 MKO members from Camp Ashraf to Camp Hurriyet. The last group of the MKO terrorists was evicted in September 2013 and relocated to Camp Hurriyet to await transfer to third countries.

In 1980s after the Mujahedin-e Khalq forced to leave the country after its failed armed struggle. The groups’ leader called supporters to leave Iran to Iraq .Among the group’s supporters where couples who left Iran with their children.

Among these couples were Ameneh Haqiqat and Akbar Rabiei who joined the MKO group in mid 1980s along with their young child. They joined the group to make a better life. However as soon as they entered the MKO camps they understood that Mujahedin Khalq is a destructive cult rather than a political organization.  

In 1990s during the Gulf war, the cult used it as a good pretext to separate parents and children – In MEK after forced divorces of couples, ties between parents and their children was exactly the main worry of Rajavi (The MEK leader), as although couples were separated, still through their children and their ‘Thursday gatherings’ they were able to connect to each other – so as their child was also separated and sent to MKO Camps at Europe along with other children.

Ms. Haqiqat’s brother says:” my head whistled when I hear that the ‘family’ is disintegrated within this horrible cult. My head whistled when I heard that my little niece left far from parental love…”

Mr. Haqiqat also gave the good news of his brother’s defection from the Mujahedin-e Khalq cult:” after my dear niece met his parents in Albania, his parents decided to leave the cult. They will abandon the MKO cult and leave Albania in near future, if God wills..”
