ASILA members at the Albanians Dita e Verës (Summer Day) celebration
Former members of the MEK

Red Wednesday and Summer Day celebrated by ex-members of the MEK

Former members of the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK) in Albania who are currently members of the Association for the Support of Iranians Living in Albania (ASILA) celebrated two similar occasions each renowned in Iran and Albania.

Since one of the missions of ASILA is development of cultural interactions between the two countries, the start of Spring is an opportunity for friendship of both cultures. This was the second year that Iranian and Albanian members of ASILA celebrated these occasions together.

Every year on March 14, Albanians celebrate Dita e Verës (Summer Day), the country’s largest pagan festival. People celebrate the end of winter, the rebirth of nature, and a rejuvenation of spirit among Albanians.

On the other side of the world, in Iran, Festival of Fire or Red Wednesday (Chaharshanbe Suri) is held on the Last Wednesday of the year (marks the arrival spring). Fire and light hoped for health and happiness through the coming year. It falls on the last Tuesday evening of every Persian calendar year. Iranians come out with friends and family to celebrate and enjoy this occasion.

International women’s day conference, the turning point of ASILA’s activities

Erisa Idrizi (Rahimi), one of the Albanian members of the Association for the Support of Iranians Living in Albania (ASILA), who has mastered the Persian language during this time, organized a conference on the occasion of International Women’s Day in Tirana, the capital of Albania, with the participation of a group of prominent Albanian women. This conference was held on Wednesday, March 8 in order to show the anti-family and anti-woman nature of the MEK to the public opinion of this country.

In this conference, Mrs. Naime Gjongecaj, a political and women’s rights activist and parliamentary candidate in Albania, also participated and gave a speech. Ms. Soraya Abdollahi also connected online from Iran and gave a speech, which was translated by Mrs. Rahimi for the audience.

Ms. Abdollahi’s words and her tears greatly affected the audience because they were not aware of the anti-women and anti-family nature of the Rajavi terrorist cult and they became familiar with the fact that this cult, contrary to all standards of human rights, denies its members’ contact with their families. Following Ms. Abdollahi’s words, Mrs. Rabia Zainli and her daughter Kamila Zainli also spoke.

In this gathering, which was held with official permission, television and media persons also participated, who prepared and reported films, photos, and news. Also, in this conference, the activities of the Iran Nejat Society, which is an association supporting the rights of the families of members caught in the Rajavi terrorist cult, were mentioned, and the attendees were also introduced to the activities of this society.

Michael Rubin’s article could be a turning point

Michael Rubin, the American journalist and a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, where he specializes in Iran, Turkey, and the broader Middle East, has so far authored several articles to denounce the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK/ PMOI) as a terrorist group warning the US former politicians who are paid by the group to advocate it. On February 28th, 2023, Rubin published an article on the MEK clarifying “why can’t Mujahedin-e-Khalq supporters get security clearances”?

As the MEK is based in Albania, the Albanian citizens are widely concerned about the group’s presence in their territory. This is the analysis written by an Albanian journalist on Rubin’s most recent article on the MEK’s terrorist and cult-like record:
I am sure that some individuals in the Albanian government (Including the Police and the security service) have studied the article. However, the words of Prime Minister Edi Rama in Higgins article published by the New York Times, are evidence on hypocrisy of his state regarding the MEK’s presence in Albania.

According to the New York times, the Prime Minister complained that the MEK were “not easy people, frankly,” and that the group had violated an agreement that it would refrain from using Albania as “a safe haven to launch political activity against the Iranian regime.”

This is absolute hypocrisy because the MEK is constantly hosting foreign authorities who support regime change in Iran. The visit between two British MPs, David Jones and Bob Blackman with Maryam Rajavi, at Camp Ashraf 3 is the most recent example.

The MEK is still hiring people paying them to launch violent acts against Iranian interests. The group’s propaganda machine and its clandestine network in social media encourages attacking Iranian police forces with knives and hand-made bombs.

Furthermore, the MEK uses Albanian territory to launch cyber attacks against Iranian government. I do not want to explain how the group uses my homeland to offer substantial services to foreign teams in order to operate in Iran attacking its military facilities with drones, killing high-profile officials and providing intelligence for foreign intelligence agencies.
However, I seriously believe that Michael Rubin’s recent piece is a turning point in American policy and consequently in Albanian policy compared with the current policies of Saudi Arabia and Israel towards Iran.

The time has come for the captives of the refugee camp in Albania to be freed

An article was published in the American newspaper New York Times with the following title:

A NATO Minnow Reels from Cyberattacks Linked to Iran
Albania has been the target of repeated digital assaults believed to be linked to its sheltering of an Iranian dissident group on its soil.
By Andrew Higgins
Published Feb. 25, 2023

At the end of this article, it is stated that:
The Albanian government has resisted succumbing to blackmail and has refused to evict M.E.K. Doing that, Mr. Rama said, would be “the biggest shame” for a country with a long history of sheltering refugees nobody else wants, including thousands of Afghans in 2021.

But he complained that M.E.K. were “not easy people, frankly,” and that the group had violated an agreement that it would refrain from using Albania as “a safe haven to make political activity against the Iranian regime.”

Instead, the group has organized high-profile events in Albania aimed at rallying opposition to Tehran, including an annual gathering called the Free Iran World Summit, whose paid speakers have included prominent American supporters like Rudolph W. Giuliani, a former New York mayor and a onetime personal lawyer to former President Donald J. Trump.
The Iranian dissidents, Mr. Rama said, have “friends on Capitol Hill that lobby for them” but have now been ordered to halt public activities against Iran. M.E.K. canceled the Free Iran event last year. “There is no more of this now,” the prime minister said. “We hope that they will not try again because it is not beneficial to this country and they have to accept that.”

In the above article, we come across the following key words from the Albanian Prime Minister:
– Albania has sheltered the MEK in a situation where no one else wanted them.
– The MEK were not easy people, and they have violated the agreement based on which they should refrain from political activities against the Iranian regime.
– The MEK has been ordered to stop public activities against Iran, such as last year’s rally under the title of Free Iran, which was canceled. We hope they don’t try again because it is not in the best interest of this country and they have to accept it.
The extent to which Edi Rama’s statements are honest is certainly debatable, but it should be noted that the very nature of these statements in an interview with a prestigious international publication that is of interest to statesmen and global observers reveals some facts. Certainly Edi Rama did not make these statements without any reason.

Also, an article was published by the American Enterprise Institute with the following title:
Why Do Iranians Hate the Mujahedin-e-Khalq So Much?
By Michael Rubin
February 01, 2023

Michael Rubin is a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, where he specializes in Iran, Turkey, and the broader Middle East. A former Pentagon official, Dr. Rubin has lived in post-revolution Iran, Yemen, and both pre- and postwar Iraq.
His article has been published in many prestigious and international journals of foreign policy and Middle East studies. In this article, the truth that cannot be hidden from the eyes of any foreign observer is pointed out, and that is: the MEK, is hated by the people of Iran, and even among the firmest opponents of the Islamic Republic, since they have been involved of killing and assassination of fellow citizens inside the country, in practical companion with the enemy invading the homeland and fighting against the border guards and defenders of the country, and violating the most basic human rights of its own members.

Although Michael Rubin and the related institute have pointed out a certain fact that is not hidden from anyone, the publication of this article at this point in itself shows that the MEK, which has lost the support of the Iranian people, cannot count on the support of the West, because the ineffectiveness of this organization has been proven over the years based on the above article.

Some facts about Albania are noteworthy:
– The presence and political and terrorist activities of the MEK from the safe base of Albania against Iran caused problems that were beyond the country’s capacity.
– NATO and the West did not support Albania against Iran as much as expected, as they had their own reasons.
– Albania has failed to enter the European Union due to the corruption of the judicial and executive and security institutions.
– Internal conflicts and public protests in Albania against poverty and corruption have become a serious challenge for Edi Rama’s government.
– In fact, the US embassy in Tirana canceled the MEK programed gathering last summer, and the US State Department announced that it does not consider the MEK to be the representative of the Iranian people.
– These issues have brought Albania closer to Saudi Arabia and Israel, who do not have an accurate understanding of the conditions and issues of the Middle East and only think of enmity with Iran. Therefore Albania is further away from Europe and American democrats.
– Finally, “MEK”, which was imposed on Albania in its current form (i.e. established in an isolated and remote camp with extra-legal powers), has now become a problem on top of other problems.
All these cases show that the MEK is not only supported by the West as an alternative, but has become a problem itself. In addition, other things should be considered in this regard.
– The MEK was not invited to the Munich Security Conference, but Reza Pahlavi was invited to participate, who also organized a press session. Perhaps the lack of noticeable presence of this group in the recent unrest inside Iran is the main reason.
– The President of France, who hosted Maryam Rajavi for many years, never agreed to meet her, and even Maryam Rajavi’s asylum was annulled, but he met with other opponents of the Islamic Republic, such as Masoumeh Alinezhad, which was reflected in the media.
– Recently, the MEK has launched hostile propaganda against other opponents of the Islamic Republic, which shows that it has seen its position as weak and in danger.

But what is not understandable is the irrational treatment of the Albanian government with the former members of the MEK in this country. That is, those who are no longer willing to be terrorists, and are not willing to tolerate cultic relations, and violations of the most basic human rights, including the prohibition of contact with family, and are not willing to accept the infamy of being a member of a cult that betrays the highest national interests.

For several months, a number of members of the Association for the Support of Iranians Living in Albania (ASILA), who are the former members of the Rajavi Cult, have been detained in the refugee camp in Karrec. No charges have been brought against them so far and no arrest warrants have been issued for them. This illegal act can only be done to please the Rajavi Cult, which is contrary to Edi Rama’s statements to the American journalist.

The aforementioned people have not created the slightest problem for this country during their stay in Albania. Some have wives and children and were working for years and paying insurance and taxes. So far, no authority has provided any reason to isolate them from the Albanian society. The only thing that can be guessed is that these people were caught simply because they no longer wanted to be with the MEK.

The Albanian government, like Saudi Arabia and Israel, lags behind the political atmosphere of Western countries, which know very well that it is impossible to make serious investments in the MEK. It is necessary for the Albanian government to make an immediate revision based on the fact that “no one wants the MEK” and not to follow the deed end path of Saddam Hussein with this group and not to turn this group into a problem for its national security like in Iraq, and the captives trapped in Karrec camp be released before the Iranian New Year.

Protesters sprayed the words “corrupt scum” in red across the windows outside the David Jone office
Mujahedin Khalq Organization's Propaganda System

British MPs to visit the headquarters of the Cult of Rajavi in Albania

According to the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK/ PNOI), two British MPs visited the group’s base in Albania. David Jones and Bob Blackman, both conservatives were offered all expenses of their flight from London to Tirana, their stay and their hefty fees by the MEK. They visited Maryam Rajavi and expressed their support for the revolution in Iran under the leadership of Maryam Rajavi.

The two paid lobbyists of the Cult of Rajavi clearly advocate any entity in exchange for money. Both are already under scrutiny for financial corruption and their unclear activities.

On November 8th 2021, the British news media, Daily Mail published a report on David Jones’s involvement with bribery and paid lobbying. Protesters gathered in front of his constituency office in Wales. They sprayed the words “corrupt scum” in red across the windows outside the building.

Bob Blackman does not have a better record. He is an active lobbyist for every customer who pays well. He has been a member of the House of Commons in 2010. On February 2022, OpenDemocracy.net reported that Blackman had taken seven free trips, worth tens of thousands of pounds, to oil-rich Azerbaijan since 2011. Three of the trips had been paid for by either the Azerbaijani parliament or its London embassy.

Blackman has received a series of briefings from high-level Azerbaijani figures, including Azerbaijani MP Javanshir Feyziyev – who was at the center of a high-profile court case that saw £5.6m of laundered cash ordered to be seized from his family’s bank accounts.

Maryam Rajavi

International Women’s Day according to Maryam Rajavi

According to Maryam Rajavi the leader of the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK/ PMOI), women’s leadership is the guarantee for democracy and equality. She is right but the leadership of Iranian women, not the MEK’s women. Female members of the MEK are symbols of human rights violations. They are deprived of life with its various aspects.

The various aspects life are physical health, family and friends, relationships, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Experts say that we must know how to balance the various aspects of life in order to lead a happy and healthy life. These aspects of life are absolutely unheard of in the MEK.

On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, the MEK leader speaks of democracy and equality for Iranian women while the condition of women inside her group is disastrous. Maryam Rajavi speaks of forced hijab as a violator of Iranian women’s rights while women of her group are not only forced to wear hijab but also, they are not allowed to choose the design, pattern and color of their own clothes.

MEK women

MEK women are not only forced to wear hijab but also, they are not allowed to choose the design, pattern and color of their own clothes

She apparently advocates a female revolution in Iran while female defectors of the group everyday reveal new dimensions of women’s rights abuses committed in the cult-like system of her group.

Former female members of the MEK such as Batoul Soltani, Zahra Moeini, Homeyra Mohammad Nezhad, Nasrin Ebrahimi, Zahra Mirbagheri and Maryam Sanjabi have constantly denounced the Cult of Rajavi and warned the world about its threat of sectarianism and violence particularly against women.

France and Albanian states should be vigilant enough regarding the MEK’s presence in their territory. In both countries, the group has bases. Camp Ashraf 3, located in Duress, north of Tirana, Albania is an isolated place in which the rights of hundreds of Mujahed women are systematically violated on daily basis.

Today, women across the world including the Iranian women are seeking new achievements in their way towards equality and freedom but the MEK still enslaves women. Women in the Cult of Rajavi are deprived from the most basic human rights. They can never love or be loved. They must be single forever; they cannot be mothers anymore; hysterectomy surgery is an order from leader. Those in the group who had children have been separated from children. Based on their beauty and their ranking in the cult’s hierarchy, MEK’s women have been chosen by Massoud Rajavi, the disappeared leader of the group, as sex partners.

Western audience and human rights bodies must get to know that female members of the MEK endure severe mental and physical tortures under the destructive mind control system of the cult. Maryam Rajavi’s speech on the occasion of the International Women’s Day is ridiculous. She is one of the most horrific violators of women’s rights in the entire human history.

Letter to Hassan Shaabanpour, hostage of the MEK

Hossein Shaabanpour, the brother of Hassan Shaabanpour, member of the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK/ PMOI) wrote another letter to his brother. Hossein hopes that his brother will find an opportunity to read the letters. In the cult-like system of the MEK, Hassan is not allowed to contact his family.
Hassan was deceived to join the MEK when he was a war prisoner in the horrific POW camps of Iraqi Baath regime. He had been taken as a POW when he was a soldier of the Iranian army in the early months of Iran-Iraq war. Hassan has not been allowed to visit his family for over 40 years.

Hossein Shaabanpour, the brother of Hassan Shaabanpour

Hossein Shaabanpour, the brother of Hassan Shaabanpour

Here is the letter of Hossein Shaabanpour to his beloved brother:

To My beloved bother
Dear Hassan,
Our other brothers and I always talk about you. We all miss you a lot. Why aren’t you allowed to be with us? This is a crucial question which has been in my mind during the long years of separation.

While we are in a world where people can stay in touch with their long-distance friends and families, why can’t you contact us? Don’t you yourself want to contact us or do the MEK leaders forbid you to contact us? I know that the MEK leaders do not permit you and other members to do so. They are afraid of any contact between you and your families. They know that the contacts with family make you aware of the conditions you are stuck in.
Dear Hassan

Believe me! I and other members of family are determined to release you from the hands of the Cult of Rajavi, no matter how long it takes us. We are sure that you will begin a new life in the free world like those who previously defected the group.
We promise that we will take any action needed for you. Feel sure that we will stay on your side forever. No matter what, Rajavi cannot cut the emotional ties between us.

I wish Rajavi dared to give this letter to you. I wish you could read it to know that everything is ready for your freedom. You just need to take one step to see the beautiful life outside the bars of the MEK.
I hope to see you soon.

Your brother,
Hossein Shaabanpour

Albania Prime minister - Edi Rama
Albania

Double Standards of the Albanian Prime Minister

According to the recently published article by Andrew Higgins of the New York Times, titled “A NATO Minnow Reels from Cyberattacks Linked to Iran”, published on February 25th, 2023, Edi Rama the prime Minister of Albania has assured the Albanian nation and the international community that no political activities are done in the headquarters of the Mujahedin Khalq (MEK/ PMOI).

It is unlikely that the honorable Prime Minister is so unaware of the affairs inside his own country that he is nit able to know that not only political actions are taken by the MEK but also it commits all types of crimes and illegitimate acts in Albania and in response no one in the government expresses concern or sorrow.
The increasing dissatisfaction of the Albanian nation and the entire European Union regarding the presence of the Cult of Rajavi in the European territory, as well as the hatred of the Iranian people and Iranian opposition groups towards the MEK, is undeniable. Also, the fact that the MEK violates the most basic rights of its own members has become a serious problem for the Albanian government.

On the one side, Albania wants to distance itself from Maryam Rajavi and her notorious group in order to get closer to the EU. On the other side, it can not neglect the financial aids by Saudi Arabia and the intelligence and propaganda aid by Israel. The two governments that currently support the MEK.
Mr. Edi Rama should be asked that the news of Maryam Rajavi’s meeting with British Parliamentarians and his recent expression of support for the Iranian revolution which was published on the MEK’s website was considered “agricultural activity”?
