Mujahedin Khalq Organization's Propaganda System

Survivors’ Report- Editorial (No. 22)

News of the imminent disbandment of the group there prompted a flurry of activity among the MKO’s legion of lawyers in an effort to create more bluster and bluff. Exactly as when the Iraqi interim government voted to have the group expelled from Iraq in December 2003. The MKO’s ‘demand’ – if it were in a position to make any such demand – has been for the total 3000+ combatants based in Iraq to be moved wholesale to another base, in another country.

The absurdity of such a demand renders it obvious that such stances taken by the MKO are for internal consumption. The leaders – and probably their highly paid lawyers too -are well aware that no such option exists.

Bulgarian troops will start their mission toward the end of March or early April. We expect that the disbandment of the MKO’s terrorist base in Iraq will be a priority. The 370 former MKO who have repatriated to Iran are being followed up to ascertain their current circumstances. This will no doubt determine whether it is possible that more of the MKO’s rank and file could be successfully and safely repatriated to Iran to be reunited with their families.

Inside Iran, the execution of MKO member Hojat Zamani rightly attracted the attention of human rights groups who condemn the use of the death penalty and who point out that Zamani did not receive a fair trial. Following the interrogation of all the MKO’s combatants in Iraq after the forced disarmament, the USA has identified those who are known to have conducted terrorist acts in Iran which have caused death and injury.

There is no doubt that these particular individuals will not be able to return home to Iran. Interestingly, the Mojahedin’s interpretation of Zamani’s execution was not based on his terrorist actions. Ignoring the deaths of innocent citizens, the MKO has predicted Zamani’s execution to be the prelude for a "massacre" of Mojahedin prisoners in Iranian jails. It is not known exactly how many such prisoners are still held in jails, but the MKO’s need for fresh blood to maintain its fictional position as the main opposition to Iran’s regime has been well served by Zamani’s death.

As the Open Secrets article shows this month, the MKO’s ideology demands that members like Zamani be sacrificed, and this is not the first time they have deliberately created the conditions in which a member has been killed. Indeed, the Rajavis’ bloodthirsty disregard for the lives of their members is taking on the status of legend. February saw yet another attempt by the MKO to be removed from the global lists of terrorist entities on which the organisation has been placed. The case brought by the MKO against the Council for Europe in 2002 was heard on February 7th in the Court of First Instance of the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg. The Mojahedin’s cynical attempt to claim to the Court that the organisation has renounced violence was proven an outright lie when it published pictures and film on its own website of the military parade held in Camp Ashraf. Disarmed combatants dressed in their new military garb and waving the flag adopted by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) marched along with huge mock-ups of artillery pieces. The message was loud and clear. Give us back our weapons!

Mujahedin Khalq Organization as a terrorist group

WHY ALL THE TIME “DEATH”?

It should be noticed by all governments, parliaments and the legal persons who confirm these producers of death, unconsciously and are unaware about their deception.

The strategy of death, the meeting about death, the design for death, the training and maneuver for death, the political diplomacy at the service of death, terror for death and death for terror and… In fact the word Mujahid has been a synonym for death.

Which system or person is behind this word? It should bear in mind that from the beginning, when this ideology was just an idea, it was produced and started with the idea of revenge.

It is obvious that, deleting a system and substituting a new one by means of death and aggression came to existence by Rajavi as the head of Mujahedeen sect.

The border and borderline of this ideology is death not only for the insiders but also for the observers. It means that the members should consider their death doubtlessly, and to prove the legitimacy of Rajavi they must follow the strategy of death. So, the death exists from the beginning till the end.

Self-burning and death are normal and acceptable by the organization and the members burn themselves very easily without thinking about the reason and the goal of this work.

As a person who spent about 20 years under this ideology, I am sure that in each part of this world where there is a supporting on killing and massacre, this ideology would be raised.

Mujahedin Khalq 's Function

Image of Iranian Opposition in US

That the State Department has asked for an additional 75-million dollar budget for promoting media propaganda against Iran and helping Iranian opposition group stirred Iranians groups and organizations in the US, which consider themselves pro-democracy. New Yorker magazine has published a 15-page report to reflect an image of these exile groups and their functions as well as Bush administration’s strategies for changing the regime in Iran.

Part of New Yorker’s report is about the MKO:

…another exile group that has powerful supporters among American conservatives and also in Congress is the Mojahedin-e Khalq organization. Helping this group is illegal since it has been listed as a terrorist organization. Therefore, Mojahedin-with the assistance of their representative, Ali Safavi- have employed three American public relations companies in order to make contact with Republican’s and ask for the removal of the group from terror list. These companies can’t receive money directly from the MKO, so they have to ask for the help of rich Iranians in the US in order to have MKO money in their bank accounts.

In return for these efforts, Raymond Tanter- George Town university professor who held a meeting with Maryam Rajavi in Paris for 6 hours- promised New Yorker correspondent that First Lady, Condy Rice and Maryam Rajavi will appear all together in a photo in the White House in the near future.

New Yorker has also pointed to MKO’s close ties with Israel and their bilateral cooperation. MKO’s strategy is revolving around military strike and freeing the southern parts of Iran.

MEK Interferes in Iraq Affairs

Political sources of Al-Shahid reported of the interferences of terrorist MEK in Iraq elections. "Members of this organization spend a lot of money to change the process of the elections," a source said.

This source, who has important evidences and documents on this group’s interferences in Iraq elections, added:

"This organization protests to Iraqi constitution, especially to the article which stresses the expulsion of terrorist groups from Iraq; this organization also asks for the cancellation of some paragraphs from the constitution. Interferences of this group in Iraq’s internal affairs show ugly face of this group, that wants destabilization of Iraq."

We should all try to bring Massoud Rajavi and other leaders of terrorist MEK to the court of justice for their crimes against Iraqis.

"Government should fight all signs of terrorism and prevent the country from becoming a safe place for the activities of terrorists" (Iraq constitution).

From the beginning, Massoud Rajavi tried to defend his dictatorship by creating a kind of sacredness for himself and his wife. In 1988, Iran affairs expert Professor Ervand Abrahamian, wrote about the MEK:

"In middle of 1987, all principles and rules for the establishment of personality cult were developed in the MKO so that the commander of the group introduced himself as "leader" and unofficial reports indicate that he considers himself an "Imam". Members of the organization have an image of him that his orders should be performed unquestionably and hierarchically; this is exactly what the MEK emphasizes in its training catalogs."

Members of this organization have drawn an image of horrible situation governing the group. Hadi Shams Haeri, former member of the group who was in high ranks for nearly 15, says:

"Anyone who tried to escape from the organization was imprisoned in MEK’s own prison or an Iraqi one; sometimes the person was sentenced to death."

"The one who joins the MEK should remain a member infinitely. He can only read the publications of the groups; spies are always watching him. Members of this organization should divorces their spouses in order to have only the love of Maryam and Massoud Rajavi."

Observers in the West report of unique methods in regard of how Rajavi controls the members. Former members have discussed dictatorial situation in MEK, in an interview with Wall Street Journal. These former members who didn’t reveal their names due to fears for their lives, said: "MEK leaders practice the worst kind of dictatorship against dissident members; they imprison, kill and punish all those who object to the orders of Maryam and Massoud Rajavi.

Some members of the organization have revealed that the group has forced them to divorce their spouses, leave their children and send them to Europe. Another journalist says: "As far as I could learn, members of this organization are in safe houses in the West. The MEK doesn’t provide much property for these people and they are deprived from the basic conditions for living. They don’t have the right to challenge their officials and should only obey the orders."

A journalist, who has visited one of MKO camps in Iraq, described it as follows:

"In this camp, I saw a clear example of dictatorship. Member of this organization has only the right to eat and sleep; he is not free to express his problems for higher-ups. He should only obey the orders. I believe that this method is similar to the way Saddam treated his own people."

"I saw that the officials of the camp remembered Saddam as their supporter, who has provided them with bases and weapons; there’s no doubt that the group has been effected by the way Saddam governed his people," this journalist adds.

Saddam Hussein has in fact supported this group, has provided weapons and large amounts of money for them.

On the other hand, offices of this group in Europe, North America, Middle East and Australia are responsible for collecting money and properties.

This organization has secret bank accounts under the name of Massoud and Maryam Rajavi. Formerly, these bank accounts were used to filled by Saddam Hussein. In addition, the MEK received a lot of money for giving intelligence to Iraqi government, collected by spying.

Oil-for-food scandal which was revealed recently reflected the level of cooperation between Saddam Hussein and Mojahedin.

Political expert of New York Times wrote:

"The MEK has received a large amount of money, from selling Iraq’s oil in European markets by Arab merchants, although this has not been registered under the name of the group." This expert revealed that when Iraq was under UN sanctions, signed agreements which directed hundreds of millions of dollars to the pocket of this group; this was like a gift from former regime.

This organization has a long history of spying for Iraqi Estekhbarat so that the former secret service used this group to target critics of the regime.

Efforts to bring Massoud Rajavi and other leaders of this organization to a criminal court in Iraq is a national request because the group and its leaders have committed crimes against Iraqis and have plundered their properties.

Stop War On Iran Campaign

President Bush, Vice President Cheney, Secretary of State Rice, Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld, U.N. Secretary-General Annan, Congressional Leaders and media representatives:

As a conservative Republican, I oppose the neo-conservatives (neo-Trotskyites), Democrats and Republicans, in Congress and in the Bush administration who support the communist overthrow of Iran by the Iranian Communist MEK (Rajavi Cult) terrorists. The Fox News Channel has been a  major supporter of the Iranian Communist MEK (Rajavi Cult) terrorists, including retaining as an analyst the former spokesman for the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).

For details of this communist cult, read these books:

Saddam’s Private Army by Anne Singleton Masoud by Masoud Banisadr Unlike the chickenhawks in Congress and in the Bush administration, I served in the Army in Vietnam. America has diplomatic and business relations with Communist Vietnam today, even though hundreds of thousands of Americans were killed or wounded in the Vietnam War. America has major trade and investment with Communist China. The neo-conservatives (neo-Trotskyites)oppose business or political relations with anti-communist Iran and support the Iranian Communist MEK (Rajavi Cult) terrorists. The MEK has murdered American military officers, Rockwell International employees, and Iranian and Iraqi civilians. The MEK is guilty of atrocities in Iraq.

Iran has been offering to America closer relations for many years. In 1995, President Bill Clinton announced at the World Jewish Congress more sanctions on Iran, including the prohibition of a contract between Conoco and Iran.

Now, the Bush administration is proposing even more sanctions to provide more pretexts for a future war.

It is time to stop the endless wars to benefit a few corrupt business and political interests in America.

The neo-conservatives (neo-Trotskyites) have betrayed America. America is a republic, not an empire. The imperialist goals of those who admire Machiavelli are having the result of the loss of sources of petroleum and other resources and the reduction in the use of the American dollar.

For details of the American damage to the people of Iran, read these books:

Interlock: The untold story of American banks, oil interests, the Shah’s money, debts, and the astounding connections between them by Mark Hulbert

Confessions of an Economic Hit Man by John Perkins

Americans need to oppose now those in politics, business, and in the media who seek to benefit from endless wars.

MKO a problem for west, not Iran – Mottaki

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki participated in a news conference in Thailand to answer questions on latest developments in Iran’s foreign relations.

In response to question by a correspondent of Jane’s Defense that the US controls more than 3000 MKO members in Iraq, and that Iran accuses the US of plotting secret plans against Iran, Mottaki said:

"The US and Europe have for long time entangled themselves in this complicated situation; they condemn terrorism and designate the MKO as a terrorist organization on one hand and support this group on the other. Members of this group were in Iraq when Saddam Hussein was in power, and he (Saddam) couldn’t do anything against Iran. This group has performed terrorist operations and has assassinated different Iranian figures but nothing has happened because the revolution is not based on a particular person. If there’s concern, it’s for the other side, not for Iran."

MKO, Lackey of Saddam

In his article "Resistance or Terror" in Saudinet, Iraqi author Dr. Mohannad Al-Barak, has discussed the issue of terrorism in Iraq and terrorist groups supported by Saddam:

"There are many questions for Iraqi people regarding the measures taken by the government to fight violence and terrorism. For instance, was it out of mercy to free thousands of criminals and murderers from prison? Or was it planned in order to execute the plans of Saddamist against the Iraq’s resistant people? Is leaving thousands of explosives and weapons in AlGha’Gha something out of ignorance? Where are thousands of Saddam’s fedayeen and spies, who were pillars of his regime? Why isn’t there any comment on Saddam’s Fedayeen, Mojahedin-e Khalq of Iran and pro-Saddam Palestinians? And who’s this Zarqawi?"

Mr. Albarak continues as follows:

"Iraqi’s will never forget that the Saddam and his murderous regime are responsible for terrorism in our country; they planned the assassination of our people. They enjoyed beheading, killing with axe and wild tigers and dogs as well as establishing and supporting terrorist organization; such as horrible spying organization tied to Estekhbarat, and other terrorist organization like the Mojahedin-e Khalq that targeted liberation movement of Arab and Muslim people."

MEK Camp Ashraf

Controlling Ashraf Camp to Fight Terrorism

Bulgaria’s Minister of Defence Vesselin Bliznakov said about the settlement of Bulgarian forces in Camp Ashraf: "This group is comprised of 120 soldiers armed with light weapons and 34 supporting staff. They will be deployed to Camp Ashraf in mid march for one-year settlement in that camp. This camp contains 3500 anti-Iran terrorists. "

"With this move, Bulgaria expresses again its desire to the help Iraq in establishing stability and rebuilding that country and participation in fighting terrorism."

Bulgarian Parliament Agrees Mission to Guard Camp Ashraf

Bulgaria’s parliament has approved a government decision to send up to 155 troops to guard an Iraqi camp.

Earlier this month the Socialist-led government agreed to deploy a non-combat unit of 120 lightly armed soldiers plus support staff to guard a camp of mainly Iranian refugees in Ashraf, about 70 km north of Baghdad.

The lawmakers whose approval is adamant for any major troop deployments voted Wednesday 151 to 15 in favour of the move.

The unit is due to depart by the end of March for a year-long mission

The government’s decision came less than two months after the Balkan country pulled out all its soldiers from the Arab country.

It originally sent a 450-strong light infantry unit to take part in post-invasion military operations. The country lost 13 soldiers and six civilians.

The new mission in Iraq will cost Bulgaria some EUR 8 M, the defense ministry has said.
