Darius Balafkandeh, MKO defector joined his family

On Monday September19, Mr. Darius Balafkandeh joined his family, Nejat Society, Gilan branch reported. Mr. Balafkandeh was warmly welcomed by his family who were awaiting his return for years.

Embraced by his mother, he said with watery eyes:

“The MKO is nothing but a liar. Since the moment I decided to flee the strictly controlled system of Rajavi, I tried to reach Iraqi forces protecting Camp Ashraf with great difficultly. I was welcomed by families picketing in front of camp Ashraf. I have to say bravely that when I faced Iranian officials at the Embassy in Iraq, I was surprised to see their humanly kind treatment toward me. I found out that I had been influenced by Rajavi’s indoctrination and forced presence in the group. I had only heard lies during those years. I am really embarrassed now.”

Darius’s mother was really moved by visiting her son after many years of waiting. She was crying kissing and hugging her son. She was thankful to the God for she could see her beloved son before her death. She hoped that other families could be able to see the return of their loved children to home and motherland.

Nejat Society also hopes the release of others held imprisoned at Camp Ashraf.

Committee to Launch Campaign to Expel MKO Members from Iraq

Chairman of a legal committee tasked with pursuing the crimes committed by the terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) announced that the committee intends to launch a petition campaign to expel MKO members from Iraq.

"Civil groups and human rights activists will launch the largest petition campaign in Iraq’s history to get two million signatures from Iraqi citizens for an immediate expulsion of MKO members from the country’s soil," Nafeh Eisa told FNA on Tuesday.

He added that the petition will then be submitted to the Iraqi government and the United Nations.

He further unveiled for the first time that the UN has already asked the Baghdad government to extend its deadline for the expulsion of the MKO from Iraq.

Eisa stated that the UN request has been rejected by the Iraqi government.

Meantime, earlier media report said that the US is trying to convince Iraqi officials to relocate MKO members within Iraq.

Under the US plan, the approximately 3,400 residents of Camp Ashraf would be temporarily relocated within Iraq, farther from the border with Iran, a US State Department official announced.

The relocation would be temporary, the official said, with final settlement of the inhabitants in other countries.

That would not include the United States, the official said, "since US law bars anyone associated with a terrorist organization from settling there".

Since the beginning of this year, the Baghdad government has repeatedly assured Iranian officials and people that it is determined to expel the MKO from Iraq by the end of 2011.

"Expulsion of the MKO from Iraq’s soil and termination of its presence which has lasted for several years is a definite decision," Iraqi Government Spokesman Ali Al-Dabbaq told FNA in April, adding, "The MKO will be expelled from Iraq by the end of the current year."

"The only option for the members of the MKO is leaving Iraq and they have no other choice," he reiterated.

Reminding to the black record of the terrorist group and its crimes against the Iraqi people, Dabbaq said, "Collaboration with the former Iraqi dictator and massacre of thousands of our people is just part of their crimes".

Dabbaq announced in early April that the cabinet is determined to shut down Camp Ashraf located North of the capital, Baghdad, and disband the terrorist group.

"The council of ministers has committed to implement an earlier decision about disbanding the terrorist group by the end of this year at the latest, and the necessity of getting it out of Iraq," the official noted.

The MKO, whose main stronghold is in Iraq, is blacklisted by much of the international community, including the United States.

Before an overture by the EU, the MKO was on the European Union’s list of terrorist organizations subject to an EU-wide assets freeze. Yet, the MKO puppet leader, Maryam Rajavi, who has residency in France, regularly visited Brussels and despite the ban enjoyed full freedom in Europe.

The MKO is behind a slew of assassinations and bombings inside Iran, a number of EU parliamentarians said in a recent letter in which they slammed a British court decision to remove the MKO from the British terror list. The EU officials also added that the group has no public support within Iran because of their role in helping Saddam Hussein in the Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-1988).

The group started assassination of the citizens and officials after the revolution in a bid to take control of the newly established Islamic Republic. It killed several of Iran’s new leaders in the early years after the revolution, including the then President, Mohammad Ali Rajayee, Prime Minister, Mohammad Javad Bahonar and the Judiciary Chief, Mohammad Hossein Beheshti who were killed in bomb attacks by MKO members in 1981.

The group fled to Iraq in 1986, where it was protected by Saddam Hussein and where it helped the Iraqi dictator suppress Shiite and Kurd uprisings in the country.

The terrorist group joined Saddam’s army during the Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-1988) and helped Saddam and killed thousands of Iranian civilians and soldiers during the US-backed Iraqi imposed war on Iran.

Since the 2003 US invasion of Iraq, the group, which now adheres to a pro-free-market philosophy, has been strongly backed by neo-conservatives in the United States, who also argue for the MKO to be taken off the US terror list.

Deputy Foreign Minister emphasizes Iraq’s decision to close Camp Ashraf

Iraq’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Labid Abawi met today with a delegation headed by UNHCR

A statement issued by the Ministry quotes him as saying, "Iraq’s position stems from its commitment to the rules of international law and humanitarian law. Iraq is ready to cooperate with the [UNHCR] Representative to find realistic and humanitarian solutions for the inhabitants of the camp".

Concerning Camp Ashraf, Abawi said, "The [Mojahedin] organization is a terrorist organization as classified by the United States and Europe, as it is here also because of its crimes against the Iraqi people through its cooperation with the former dictatorial regime," the statement said.
He continued: "Therefore, Iraq is determined to shut down Camp Ashraf at the end of this year and the residents will be resettled, and Iraq will collaborate with the WHO in order to facilitate their exit from Iraq.

Iraq’s Finance Minister Baqir al-Zubaidi says the ‘criminal leaders’ of the Mujahidin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) terrorist group must be put on trial before being expelled from the country.

Iraqi people would never forget “the bitter memory of the massacre of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, especially a large number of Kurds from north, during the 1991 uprising (Intifada),” al-Zubaidi said on Tuesday.

The Iraqi minister added that MKO leaders would be put on trial as one of the main perpetrators of these crimes, IRNA reported.

Al-Zubaidi said the Iraqi nation is determined to wipe out terrorist groups from the country at any price.

Members of the MKO fled to Iraq in 1986, where they enjoyed the support of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, and set up Camp Ashraf in Diyala province, near the Iranian border.

The group has carried out numerous acts of terror and violence against Iranian civilians and government officials.

The terror organization is also known to have cooperated with Saddam in suppressing the 1991 uprisings in southern Iraq and the massacre of Iraqi Kurds in the north.

Tehran has repeatedly called on the Iraqi government to expel the group, but the US has been blocking the expulsion by pressuring the Iraqi government.

In April, Iraq’s government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said Baghdad is determined to shut down Camp Ashraf, located in north of the capital, and disband the terrorist group.

Moqtada Sadr Reiterates Iraqis’ Demand for Expulsion of MKO Terrorists

Prominent Iraqi Shiite cleric Moqtada Sadr strongly condemned the crimes committed by the anti-Iran terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) against the Iranian and Iraqi nations, and underlined his country’s strong resolve to expel the terrorist group from Iraq.

Speaking in a meeting with Secretary-General of Iran’s Habilian Association – a human rights group formed by the families of 17,000 terror victims in Iran – Sadr stressed that no one in Iraq likes to see MKO’s presence on Iraq’s soil.

"This terrorist group has committed more crimes and oppressions against us than the crimes it has committed against the Iranian nation since the number of martyrs in Iraq is twice the number in Iran.
"Therefore, we have a very deep motivation for expelling these criminals from our country," Sadr underscored.

The MKO, whose main stronghold is in Iraq, is blacklisted by much of the international community, including the United States.

Many of the MKO members abandoned the terrorist organization while most of those still remaining in the camp are said to be willing to quit but are under pressure and torture not to do so.

Leader of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, Ammar Hakim, has said that the members of the terrorist Mojahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) based in Iraq must leave the country by the end of 2011.

Leader of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, Ammar Hakim Hakim, who had travelled to Iran to attend the fifth meeting of the Ahl al-Bayt World Assembly, made the remarks during a meeting with Grand Ayatollah Abdul Karim Mousavi Ardebili in the holy city of Qom on Friday.

Hakim also said that Tehran has announced the names of 100 MKO members who must stand trial if they return to Iran.
Commenting on the formation of the government in Iraq, he stated that despite the pressure being exerted on the country, Baghdad could move through that crucial stage thanks to public support.
He also said that the enemies of Iraq are incessantly making efforts to create stumbling blocks to the country.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Hakim stated that the security situation in Iraq has improved and the Iraqi forces have become more equipped and are capable of identifying terrorists.
And the death toll from terrorist attacks in Iraq has decreased, he added.
He also said that efforts are underway to create understanding among various political groups in Iraq and to help them reach a consensus on internal and external issues.
On the developments occurring in certain regional countries, the ISC leader stated that Iraq is keeping a close eye on the events unfolding in the countries which have been experiencing pro-democracy uprisings and has made efforts to help stabilize the situation in Syria as well.
Hakim also held separate meetings with a number of other grand ayatollahs based in Qom, including Lotfollah Safi Golpayegani, Nasser Makarem Shirazi, Hossein Nouri Hamedani, Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi, Sadeq Hosseini Shirazi, Mohammad Javad Alavi Tabataba’i Boroujerdi, and Hossein Vahid Khorasani on Friday.
Ayatollah Safi Golpayegani, in his meeting with Hakim, said that various political groups in Iraq should put aside differences.
In his meeting with Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi, Hakim said it is necessary that all Iraqi officials stand by each other and make endeavors to serve the people.

Iraq to resolve the Camp Ashraf file by end of the year

During a meeting of the Committee on Foreign Relations in the Dutch parliament, Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari iterated Iraq’s decision to end the crucial file [Camp Ashraf] by the end of the year.

A copy of the Foreign Ministry statement received by AllIraqNews on Thursday said, "Zebari met yesterday at the headquarters of the Dutch Parliament Foreign Relations Committee in which Zebari confirms Iraq will resolve the Camp Ashraf file by end of the year meeting the developments of the internal situation and the continuous improvement of the security situation in Iraq were reviewed."

"Interactive dialogue also took place to assess the level of bilateral relations and areas of cooperation between the two countries based on political and diplomatic relations developed between them," noting that "the need to promote this cooperation to the level of the historical relations between the two countries on the one hand and to the position of the Netherlands’ outstanding support of the process of Iraq’s political and democratic transformation that took place on the other was stressed.

The statement continued, "There was a focus on the importance of this cooperation to expand the area of investment in energy to other issues of economics, trade and in particular management of water resources, as well as the importance of working for the creation of better relations between the Iraqi Council of Representatives and the Dutch parliament."

Zebari addressed "the developments and changes taking place in the Arab region, and that what Iraq has accomplished in its changes towards democracy has now become one of the most important demands of the peoples of the region who seek reform and change."

It is noteworthy that the presence of an Iranian opposition group in Iraqi territory is in contradiction to the terms of the Iraqi constitution and most political communities, but that some in the United Nations and the European Union and U.S. forces are demanding the survival of the organization and provide support and stability to it.

"After clashes earlier between Iraqi security forces and members of the Mojahedin-e Khalq (aka PMOI) led to the injury of a number of employees of the Iraqi security forces, the Iraqi government decided to close the camp by the end of this year and called on the Iranian government to issue amnesty for the members of this organization. MKO’s Role in Saddam’s Invasion of Kuwait Disclosed

The anti-Iran terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) has played an active role during the Iraqi occupation of Kuwait in 1990, a document released by a Kuwaiti daily disclosed.

According to a report published by the Kuwaiti Al-Dar daily, the MKO members had all-out cooperation with Saddam forces and were in massive intelligence coordination with former Iraqi regimes’ military and security authorities during the occupation of Kuwait.

The MKO members had also participated in checkpoint operations and interrogated Kuwaiti citizens, the Habilian Association, an Iran-based human rights group, quoted the Kuwaiti paper as saying.

The daily said that MKO’s main elements were stationed at a hotel near Hawalli square during the Kuwait occupation.

The Invasion of Kuwait was a major conflict between Iraq and Kuwait, which resulted in the seven-month long Iraqi occupation of Kuwait, which subsequently led to direct military intervention by US-led forces in the Persian Gulf War.

The invasion started on August 2, 1990, and within two days of intense combat, most of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces were either overrun by the Iraqi Republican Guard or escaped to neighboring Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

Iraqi victims of MKO to collect signatures to expel the group

Chairman of the Committee for the defense of Iraqi victims of Mojahedin Khalq working to collect signatures to expel MKO (MEK, Rajavi cult) from Diyala, Iraq

The head of the Special Committee to defend the victims of the crimes of Mojahedin Khalq, Mr. Nafee-Issa, said the Committee is working to collect signatures for the expulsion of the Mojahedin from the province of Diyala, and from Iraq.

In a statement to All-Iraq News Agency on Tuesday, Mr. Nafee-Issa said that "the Committee is working to collect a large number of facts that show the crimes of this organization and what caused the killings of civilians in Iraq since 1986 till 2003."

He added that "organized crime continued after 2003 as a result of political interference in the affairs of Iraq by creating sectarian strife between Iraq’s people and in addition working to destabilise the security situation in the province of Diyala and the country in general."

Camp Ashraf, or as it is now known camp New Iraq, houses thousands of Iranian fighters of the MKO, an Iranian opposition faction, which based the headquarters for its Chairman at the camp nearly three decades ago.
