Targeting a ‘terrorist group’

It is sad to read about the Mujahedin Khalq organization (a.k.a. MEK, MKO, NCRI and several other names) in that the terrorist group is portrayed as the representative of a quarter of a million Iranian Americans. The group was in charge of killing several Americans during the shah’s regime in Iran. Its ideology is a mixture of Islam and Marxism. The group is run like a cult, in that the”holy”leaders (Maryam and Massoud Rajavi) must be obeyed at all costs, even if this means sacrificing families and children.

We do have a problem with MEK – Secretary Rice

Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice had a Q & A meeting with students of George Town University, where Raymond Tanter a supporter of MEK in IPC, and the professor of George Town University asked her to use MEK against Iran and lift the terrorist designation of the group. Secretary Rice answered:” we do have a problem with MEK. It is a terrorist organization. It was engaged in killings which actually ended up on the death of even Americans. That situation has not changed.”

In the Iranian Diaspora that followed 1980, members and supporters of MEK spread throughout the Western World. In Canada, members of the group have earnestly solicited funds and preserved links with Canada’s anachronistic Marxist community. They have also attacked the Iranian embassy in Ottawa, as part of a coordinated assault on 13 embassies in Europe and the Americas.

Still, MEK has done itself few favours over the years. Its main base is still in exile in Iraq, and depends on the generosity of Saddam Hussein

the MKO can no longer wait for a new list, two years from now but after this time it should try to convince US officials that the situation which led to the designation of the group have completely changed. Meanwhile, new list proves that all US officials, leaders, political figures and parties have consensus on the fact that the Mojahedin-e khalq is a terrorist organization.

MKO Remains on EU Terror List

…The MKO, also known as Munafiqin (hypocrites), has been campaigning hard for the removal of its name from the blacklist in which the terrorist group was put in 2002.The EU began drawing its blacklist following the 9/11 attacks in the US in its campaign to fight global terrorism. The European bloc regularly updates the list.

As a precaution, we informed the police in advance that MKO agents might possibly perform some act of violence and intimidation in order to prevent revelations about Massoud Rajavi’s war crimes in Iraq becoming public…The police presence was vital to prevent around twelve agents of the MKO from forcing themselves into the hotel and breaking into our meeting.

The United States can designate foreign organizations as terrorist groups and bar Americans from financially backing them….The ruling by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals was made in a case involving people who raised money in California for Mujahedin-e Khalq, or MEK, an Iranian opposition group designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S. government since 1997.

Hamilton:This Is A Terrorist Organization

On Thursday morning, Hamilton said that the MKO was an active organization which “works for the freedom of people” but a few hours later she had to announce that expressing such words resulted from her being young and inexperienced…….Ms. Lotta Hedstrom, member of parliament and Green Party leader, also denied Åberg’s support for the MKO and said to the media that supporting the MKO is not the policy of the party. “The MKO is not suitable for overthrowing Iranian regime,” she said.
