Reacting to latest US government proposal to relocate the terrorist organization, MKO or Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization, to another place within Iraq’s territory, Iraqi lawmakers have called it another US intervention in country’s internal affairs.The US government has proposed moving the camp of the MKO/MEK/PMOI, known as Camp Ashraf, which is located in the Province of Diyala to another place inside the country.
Adnan al-Seraj underlined in April that Baghdad is resolved to expel the terrorist group from the country, but it has faced tough Washington opposition to the move…The Iraqi lawmaker said that Baghdad is trying to find diplomatic ways to expel the group, and added,”If the US stops interfering in the expulsion process, the Iraqi government knows several peaceful ways to expel the group.[MKO/MEK/PMOI]”
… In a statement by Iraqi Foreign Ministry, Minister Ashton said”the European Union is keen to develop and activate its relations with Iraq according to the agreement signed between the two sides, which reached its final stages for ratification”.”The EU is keen to cooperate in the fields of oil and gas”, Ashton added in the statement. Zebari expressed the stand and decision of the Iraqi government”to close the camp by the end of this year”and to demand from European countries”to accept the residents of the camp in their countries.” …
Head of Iran-Iraq Friendship Committee in Iraq’s Northern Salahuddin province Nafeh Eissa underlined his country’s determination to expel the anti-Iran terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) from Iraq’s soil.”Europeans should rest assured that expulsion of MKO from Iraq is definite. Therefore, they should stop bargaining and start thinking of a place to shelter the members of the terrorist group instead,”..”People of Iraq have been demanding their expulsion from the country since long time ago.”..
The members of the MKO are not allowed to carry out any activity outside of their camp, known as Camp Ashraf, and that they are not allowed to conduct any operation against Iran either, Al Sheikh told IRNA in an interview published on Tuesday.When the new government took power in Baghdad, it was decided that the MKO/MEK/PMOI members cannot stay in Iraq any longer,Iraqi Ambassador to Iran Mohammad Majid Al Sheikh said..Pointing to the time when the group set up the camp during Saddam’s rule, he said the terrorists took the lands of local farmers by force..
… The Iraqi Constitution prohibits the presence of mujahedin or any other militia groups from neighboring countries, whether it’s the PKK [Kurdistan Workers Party], whether it’s the PJAK [Party for a Free Life in Kurdistan], or whoever to have presence on Iraqi territory and to launch attacks against our neighbors. Constitutionally, this is not allowed and the mujahedin or the MEK/MKO/PMOI member [Mujahedin-e Khalq] of the Ashraf camp have to respect Iraqi law..
Members of Iraq’s legislative body voiced their support for Baghdad’s recent decision on the expulsion of the member of the terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) from Iraq’s soil, and urged the Nouri Al-Maliki’s government to immediately put the decision into effect…Safiyeh Soheili, an independent lawmaker, reminded the terrorist group’s assistance with the former Ba’ath regime’s confrontation against the Iraqi people…
Some Iraqi lawmakers supported the decision by the government to end the file of Mojahedin-e-Khalq-e-Iran Organization(MKO)..Speaking to AKnews, Zeinab al-Tayee from Ahrar Party accused the organization of”being funded by terrorist groups.”..Tayee said her party backs expelling MKO from Iraq and hoped the decision comes into effect as soon as possible..Tayee reiterated the presence of the group is contrary to the Iraqi constitution, a point frequently raised to criticize Maliki’s government…
..The terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization sparked the armed conflict with the Iraqi security forces responsible for guarding the camp said an Iraqi commander who was present on the scene of clashes last week ..the Iraqi commander, who was speaking on the condition of anonymity, said that the move by the MKO aka MEK/PMOI was not unprecedented since the group had previously forced its dissident members to start armed clashes with the Iraqi forces.
..Cooperating with the repressive Baathist army, the members of the group killed innocent people, and Iraqis suffered very much during the Saddam era…Recently, following orders of the government and in line with the new Iraqi Constitution, the Iraqi army tried to dismantle the terrorist group’s residential area, called Camp Ashraf, but the MKO members residing in the camp clashed with the Iraqi soldiers.Afterwards, the MKO aka MEK/PMOI tried to exaggerate the incident and said that 25 people were killed during the clashes.
