MEK mercenaries used to counter pro-Palestinian rally in America

Growing International support for Palestinians prompts desperate measures from Israeli lobby

An NCRI insider (National Council of Resistance of Iran is also on the US terrorism list as an alias of the MEK) has revealed that the Israeli lobby has employed the Mojahedin Khalq (aka; MKO, MEK, Rajavi cult) terror group to bring thousands of rented crowd fillers to Washington in order to counter the day of Qods annual rally on Friday 26th August. Qods day is an annual day of protest against the illegal occupation of Palestinian land and the city of Qods (Jerusalem, the second most important city for Muslims after Mecca) by Israel.

Leaders of the Washington-backed terrorist cult have been allocated a budget to bring over 5,000 people to the counter rally, but so far the MEK has only been able to gather around a thousand participants (too much money not enough brains?) The group has already organised the travel arrangements (plane tickets, visas, hotels etc) to fly around 1,000 people from Europe and elsewhere. The travellers are promised a free two week holiday with pocket money in return for participating for a couple of hours in the counter demonstration. Organisers and agencies that will be in charge of the shipments are offered considerably more.

The MEK operatives have promised guarantees that participants in the rally will not be under any pressure or scrutiny from law enforcement agencies – which have already given written permission for the terrorist group to gather under the flag of the Mojahedin Khalq (an FTO according to the USG), and they will not face prosecution for any reason, under any circumstances. The leaders of the terror cult openly tell their forces that the group has secured extrajudicial protection from the highest authorities in the American political, judicial and law enforcement circles. (Presumably through affiliation with AIPAC and other Israeli connected organisations.)

Of course, it is clear that they cannot do this without some kind of official support. MEK backers in the US House of Representative are providing lawyers for legal advice to facilitate ways to circumvent the ban on entry to the US of anyone who has links, past or present, to a designated FTO. The MEK supporters will fly via various airports in the US and Canada over several days before arriving in Washington for the rally.

(At the same time, genuine refugees who have escaped the MEK are harassed by the US and its embassies across the world when they try to secure help and succour.)

According to the NCRI insider, some operatives have already arrived in Washington D.C. to prepare the ground for the arrival of the other thousand. Mojahedin Khalq have increased their safe house capacity in Washington by two more blocks of apartments and their US representatives (including former Saddam Hussein’s private army commanders Alireza Jafarzadeh and Ali Safavi) are currently heading a few teams of operatives while liaising with their backers in the corridors of the House of Representative and the Senate. According to a high ranking politician in Washington, the American government, the FBI and other so called security agencies are no match for the Israeli lobby and would not even attempt to stop the influx of these mercenaries to the city.

The Mojahedin Khalq (aka Saddam’s private army) started its terror campaign with the assassination of 6 Americans in Tehran and have, since then by its own admission assassinated over 16000 Iranians, 25000 Iraqis and scores of individuals of American, European, Pakistani, African and even Chinese descent.

While we do not expect or even find the American government capable of intervening and halt the influx of Mojahedin Khalq operatives into their capital city, we warn the countries officials against any failure to prevent harm the critics of the terrorist group in the US, particularly the genuine Iranian opposition groups who have been vocal against the neoconservative and Zionist use of terrorist groups under the guise of supporting opposition groups.

Open letter to the honorable and distinguished Prime-Minister of Iraq, Mr. Nouri Al- Maliki I, Ali Jahani, am the former member of PMOI

Respectfully, I, Ali Jahani, am the former member of PMOI (MKO, Mujahedin Khalgh). During twenty years of my close activity in this organization, I had been witnessing many terrifying and horrible experiences of breach of the human rights and awful crimes which probably are unbelievable for some people.

I ,after 2 decades of active cooperation with this organization which its preliminary objectives were 180 degree different than its final objectives ,fortunately could rescue myself from PMOI after the fall of the Saddam Hussein , the dictator of Iraq, in 2004 and after spending 4 years in the American camp , TIPF, which was located near the PMOI main garrison , Ashraf, I could find my way to Turkey and from Turkey I could come to Germany and in Germany beside my life I have been trying my best to reveal and disclose the PMOI inhumane and un political activities by my enlightening activities and my awareness disclosure . Now I would like to share with you some of my experiences which I had seen closely during my membership in PMOI.

1. Espionage, political and military cooperation with the government of Saddam Hussein and PMOI participation in killing of Kurds and suppression of the Shiites in southern part of Iraq.

2. Compulsory separation of the children from their biological parents inside PMOI relations and imposing and forcing the married people to get divorced from each other.

3. Any connection with the family is forbidden and the PMOI leaders force their members to kill any kind of sentiment and feeling with their beloved ones and in stead the members should worship Massoud and Maryam Rajavi.

4. Building prisons in their internal relations and torture the dissidents inside those prisons just because they were against the PMOI inhumane policies inside the PMOI relations.

5. The strong censorship inside the PMOI relations about “News” and forbidding having any personal radio and the only News source was the PMOI news network.

6. After the fall of the Saddam Hussein, the Iraq dictator, the PMOI leaders have not allowed the families of their stranded members to visit them and right now there are many families behind the closed gates of Ashraf garrison who have been waiting for more than a year to visit their loved ones but so far the leaders of PMOI have not allowed them.

As you are well informed that since the beginning of the April 2011 there were bloody clashes between the PMOI stranded members and your military forces which had begot many casualties , more than 10 people were killed and hundreds were wounded, but these clashes are not the first one and will not be the last one either.

The leadership of PMOI without having any military achievement send his stranded members to fight against your military force to be killed or injured just to take advantage of their blood for his political objectives and for conservation of his cultic entity and position, but everybody knows that PMOI has remained in your country as unwelcome guests and as collaborator and partner of Saddam Hussein in his bloody crimes against humanity.

The leadership of PMOI does not want to leave your soil without bloodshed and clashes. They do not want to pay the price of being responsive to their bloody cooperation with Iraq dictator during eight years war between Iran and Iraq and their recent unjust clashes with the Iraqi forces which resulted to the death of many stranded members of PMOI, so the leadership of PMOI is looking for more bloody clashes and violence to hide the realities mentioned above and annihilate more of its dissidents in the future clashes. The clash between the stranded members and the Iraqi military forces is the only solution which the leadership of PMOI is thinking about to get rid of its dissidents.

You are maybe familiar with some of the PMOI inhumane and anti-human rights activities which exist like cultic rules and regulations in their internal relations and as a result of this fact, cultic rules and regulations, the cults for conserving their cultic entity are ready to sacrifice their members and they are capable of doing any violent and vicious activity for their survival.

In your recent interview with the news network, Al alam , you mentioned that some of the western countries have supported this organization financially consequently you want to make a complaint against those countries. Your decision is very great and admirable and I believe the main criminal in this issue is United States of America because of its support of this terrorist organization on Iraq soil without consideration of the will of Iraqi people and their honorable and popular government.

I, the former member of this organization, am fully pleased of your decision regarding the expulsion of this terrorist organization from your country till end of this year, but I am urging you, regarding to accomplish the expulsion mandate of PMOI, do not allow any clashes to occur between your military forces and PMOI stranded members because PMOI leadership is looking for such bloody clashes to survive. I am urging you to solve this problem as peaceful as possible and the peaceful solution results in freedom of the stranded members and will make their families very happy.

Mujahedin Khalq Organization as a terrorist group

Mujahedin Khalq Machine vs. The Iranian-American Community

In the past few weeks, the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK) has been launching relentless attacks against the National Iranian American Council (NIAC). The immediate reason is the Iranian-American campaign spearheaded by NIAC to keep the MEK on the U.S.’s terrorist list. NIAC and others have launched this campaign because delisting the MEK would unleash a major force for a U.S.-Iran war, undermine the peaceful pro-democracy movement in Iran while empowering anti-democratic hardliners, and put the free voices of the Iranian-American community under threat.

The MEK’s attacks are not new. The MEK and neo-conservative elements supporting them have for years been orchestrating attacks against prominent Iranian American individuals and institutions who do not subscribe to their views. The targets have included not just me and NIAC, but also individuals like Ramin Jahanbeglou, Vali Nasr, and Shirin Ebadi. Indeed, the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has detailed how the MEK accuses any and all of its detractors of being agents of the Islamic Republic.
NIAC poses a threat to the MEK in many ways – because we give the Iranian-American community a voice in Washington that opposes war, opposes indiscriminate sanctions and supports human rights and indigenous democratization in Iran.

The MEK has a radically different agenda, and like some of its neoconservative counterparts, wants to silence independent voices opposing their pro-war agenda.
The MEK and these neo-conservatives sought hard to hide the true source and reasons for the attacks against prominent Iranian Americans and NIAC. The MEK knows very well how despised they are in the Iranian-American community. More often than not, their attack dogs pretend to be Monarchists or of some other denomination. Few, if any, admit their ties to the MEK. And these neo-conservatives know that the attacks will appear more credible if they have an Iranian face.

But recently, the MEK’s desperation has shone through. Now, they no longer pretend to be disconnected from their campaigns against other Iranian Americans. Their attacks are posted on their own websites, and the attackers openly declare their dedication and loyalty to the MEK.

In this new desperation, they have also revealed their larger agenda. In a recent article, the MEK juxtaposed NIAC’s current campaign to educate the public about the ramifications of delisting the MEK from terror list against an analysis I wrote in 2007 describing the likely consequences of the Bush administration’s plan to include the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corp (IRGC) on that same list.

The purpose of this comparison is to support the baseless claims by the MEK and its network of supporters that NIAC supports the regime in Iran.
The comparison falls flat. The designation would have had no economic impact on the IRGC, which was already exhaustively sanctioned by the United States. Instead, the designation was intended to advance a cause for war before the Bush administration’s term ended. Indeed, the entire issue seemed ripped straight out of the Iraq war playbook. This is why several leading U.S. policymakers opposed the measure, including the bipartisan leadership of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee (led by now Vice-President Joseph Biden and Republican Senator Richard Lugar).

Senator Joe Lieberman, one of the strongest advocates for an Iran war in the Senate, later introduced the idea in legislative form and added language that explicitly gave a green light to conducting military action against Iran. The Kyl-Lieberman amendment stated the following:

(4) to support the prudent and calibrated use of all instruments of United States national power in Iraq, including diplomatic, economic, intelligence, and military instruments, in support of the policy described in paragraph (3) with respect to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its proxies.

The call for the "use of all instruments" including military instruments is what constituted a green light for war. In reality, the amendment had less to do with listing the IRGC as a terrorist organization than supporting military action against Iran before Bush’s term came to an end.

The amendment caused a storm in the Senate – and even the Democratic primary debates – because it was rightly seen as an effort to start a war with Iran. Opposition from anti-war groups and Lieberman’s colleagues in the eventually saw the above paragraph deleted from the amendment.

To suggest that my analysis, or Senator Biden and others’ opposition to this move, was favorable to the IRGC is preposterous. Indeed, NIAC has been a key supporter of precision sanctions targeting the IRGC and leaders of the Islamic Republic.

And herein lies the difference between NIAC’s approach and the tactics of the MEK and these neo-conservatives. Though they pretend to target the IRGC, their policies in reality pave the way for a war that would see hundreds of thousands dead. NIAC and the Iranian-American community as a whole, on the other hand, puts the well being of the peoples of the America and Iran at the center. We have consistently opposed war, and instead pursued policies that would target the IRGC and the leaders of the Islamic Republic without hurting the Iranian people or risking a war that would be disastrous for both countries.

The questions people should ask themselves is why the MEK and these neo-conservatives consistently support policies that on the surface appear to target the clerical regime, but in reality drive the US and Iran towards a military confrontation.

Our ability to give the Iranian-American community an opportunity to be heard in Washington DC is a threat both to the agenda of the MEK and that of these neo-conservatives. Therefore, the attacks against independent voices in the Iranian-American community and NIAC will continue. But as the community comes to understand the agenda of the MEK, it will no longer buy their conspiracy theories.

Call for Action against MKO delisting

Despite rising concerns about the impact of Mujahedin Khalq’s lobbying campaign to get removed from the list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations of the State Department, the group’s well-paid advocates in Washington D.C do not bother to know about the group more closely.
Regrettably, the MKO’s propaganda and its fierce lobby did succeed to get delisted from the European list in 2009 thanks to the funds they had paid European parliamentarians for many years.

It’s now time to take action against the group’s deceitful propaganda in the U.S.
Fortunately,the MKO is seriously getting hammered in US media. And, as people who suffered the worst experience within the cult of Rajavi, we call all freedom lovers from all over the world to leave their comments on US State Department website to prevent the removal of the MKO from the black list. Let’s illuminate the minds of US authorities about the true substance of this destructive cult.

MKO Paying Huge Sums to Former US Officials to Exit Terror List

Recent reports revealed that leaders of the anti-Iran terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) are lobbying and paying big bucks to former high-ranking US officials to help them get taken off the US administration’s list of foreign terrorist organizations.

The Antiwar Website, the Christian Science Monitor and the Huffington Post disclosed recently that although the group has a record of killing Americans during the 1970s and has subsequently used violent tactics against Iranian targets, many neoconservatives – and other prominent Americans, it seems – would like to rehabilitate the image of the group and use the MKO as a lever against Iran.

The list of American luminaries doing a paid dance with the MKO is long and contains former top officials of both parties. For example, on the Democratic side of the aisle, former presidential candidate and Vermont Gov. Howard Dean, former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, and former Sen. Evan Bayh of Indiana have given short and highly compensated speeches before the group. On the Republican side, former Homeland Security chief and Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge, former presidential candidate and New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former Bush chief of staff Andrew Card, and anti-Iranian hardliner former Assistant Secretary of State John Bolton have done the same. And let’s not forget the bevy of former US national security officials who have least implicitly endorsed the "terrorist" organization’s goals: former directors of the CIA Porter Goss and James Woolsey and four-star generals James Jones (also a former national security adviser), Wesley Clark, Anthony Zinni, Hugh Shelton, and James T. Conway.

The MKO is behind a slew of assassinations and bombings inside Iran, a number of EU parliamentarians said in a recent letter in which they slammed a British court decision to remove the MKO from the British terror list. The EU officials also added that the group has no public support within Iran because of their role in helping Saddam Hussein in the Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-1988).

Many of the MKO members abandoned the terrorist organization while most of those still remaining in the camp are said to be willing to quit but are under pressure and torture not to do so.

A May 2005 Human Rights Watch report accused the MKO of running prison camps in Iraq and committing human rights violations.

According to the Human Rights Watch report, the outlawed group puts defectors under torture and jail terms.

The group, founded in the 1960s, blended elements of Islamism and Stalinism and participated in the overthrow of the US-backed Shah of Iran in 1979. Ahead of the revolution, the MKO conducted attacks and assassinations against both Iranian and Western targets.

Leaders of the group have been fighting to shed its terrorist tag after a series of bloody anti-Western attacks in the 1970s, and nearly 30 years of violent struggle against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In recent years, high-ranking MKO members have been lobbying governments around the world in the hope of acknowledgement as a legitimate opposition group.

The UK initiative, however, prompted the European Union to establish relations with the exiled organization now based in Paris. The European Court of First Instance threw its weight behind the MKO in December 2009 and annulled its previous decision to freeze its funds.

The group started assassination of the citizens and officials after the revolution in a bid to take control of the newly established Islamic Republic. It killed several of Iran’s new leaders in the early years after the revolution, including the then President, Mohammad Ali Rajayee, Prime Minister, Mohammad Javad Bahonar and the Judiciary Chief, Mohammad Hossein Beheshti who were killed in bomb attacks by MKO members in 1981.

The group fled to Iraq in 1986, where it was protected by Saddam Hussein and where it helped the Iraqi dictator suppress Shiite and Kurd uprisings in the country.

The terrorist group joined Saddam’s army during the Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-1988) and helped Saddam and killed thousands of Iranian civilians and soldiers during the US-backed Iraqi imposed war on Iran.

Since the 2003 US invasion of Iraq, the group, which now adheres to a pro-free-market philosophy, has been strongly backed by Neo-conservatives in the United States, who also argue for the MKO to be taken off the US terror list.

Defending MEK, Mukasey, Ridge & Freeh Attack Obama For Hastily Exiting Iraq, While Admitting He’s Trying To Stay

In an article on Fox News’ website, former Bush administration officials Michael Mukasey and Tom Ridge and former FBI director Louis Freeh claim that in his apparent rush to pull U.S. troops out of Iraq, President Obama is abandoning the Iranian exile group the Mujahedeen-e Khalq’s (MEK):

[I]n a panicked haste to exit from Iraq, the Obama White House is abandoning the 3,400 members of the MEK – including young men, women and children – who are living in exile in a camp near Baghdad and intends to leave them to the indelicate mercy of Iraq’s new Shia prime minister, the Mullahs’ good friend Nouri al-Maliki.

There’s so much wrong with this brief clip of their piece that it’s difficult to know where to start.

To begin with, Obama is hardly in a “panicked haste to exit from Iraq.” As news reports have indicated over the past months, the Obama administration has been pressuring the Iraqis to strike a deal to allow U.S. troops to stay past the end of 2011, a deadline imposed by a Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) struck by George W. Bush in 2008 despite warnings that the deal could constrict the next president’s policies.

Indeed, Freeh, Mukasey and Ridge acknowledged this fact five paragraph’s later in the same article:

The Obama administration is, of course, eager to complete a formal agreement with Prime Minister Maliki concerning the status of American troops remaining in Iraq after 2011.

Attacking Obama for wanting to rush out of Iraq seems just as disingenuous as the authors’ charge that the administration “intends to leave [the MEK adherents in Ashraf] to the indelicate mercy of…the Mullahs’ good friend Nouri al-Maliki.” The notion that Iraqis — who have officially wanted the MEK off their soil since 2008 — need to be pressured by the Iranians into harsh actions against Ashraf is absurd. As CAP analyst Matt Duss recently noted, the MEK, which is designated as a terror group by the U.S., is “despised…by many Iraqis for having aided Saddam [Hussein] in his crackdowns on Iraqi Shiites and Kurds.” Earlier this year, Duss explained:

The MEK also fought alongside Hussein’s forces after the 1991 Gulf War to put down the Shia uprising in Iraq’s south and the Kurdish uprising in the north. They were driven by MEK leader Maryam Rajavi’s infamous command to “Take the Kurds under your tanks, and save your bullets for the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.”

The New York Times also recently noted that the Obama administration — far from abandoning the MEK members in Iraq — has been engaged in active diplomacy to get them out of harm’s way, eventually hoping to relocate them to a third country outside Iran (where they’re also likely to face persecution) or Iraq. However, the diplomacy, reported the Times, has thus far hit a dead end because “the residents are refusing to leave, and no countries have come forward to welcome them.”

That the three conservative officials-turned-pundits would make disingenuous attacks on Obama is no surprise. Their skewed perspective absolving the MEK of its role in blocking solutions to its predicament might also be easy enough to explain, though: Freeh, Mukasey and Ridge are among a coterie of top former U.S. officials who have been paid by groups that support the MEK, advocate for removing them from the U.S. terror list, and in some cases urge U.S. support and recognition as an Iranian government in exile despite the lack of any meaningful MEK political constituency within Iran.

How to Help the People of Camp Ashraf

Removing group from terrorist list would do nothing to help reportedly abused rank and file.

[Opinion] The Obama administration will decide this month whether to remove the Iranian Mojahedin-e Khalgh Organization (MEK; also known as MKO and PMOI) from the U.S. State Department’s list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTO). Proponents of the group, including former U.S. officials who have recently been paid large sums by the MEK, claim that delisting is needed to save 3,400 MEK members stuck in Camp Ashraf, north of Baghdad, where the military wing of the organization has been based since 1986 — though they do not make clear how delisting is essential to achieving that goal.

Lost in the discussion is recognition of the dire human rights situation of Camp Ashraf residents. According to a RAND Corporation report, up to 70 percent of Ashraf residents may be there against their will. Human Rights Watch, independent Iran experts, and the U.S. government have all documented the cult-like and abusive practices carried out by the MEK against its own members. And while for the past three decades, governments hostile toward Iran’s revolutionary government have used the group as a political pawn against the Islamic Republic, the international community has turned a blind eye to the plight of those isolated inside the camp.

The international community should urgently address the situation of these rank-and-file MEK members. There are five steps the United States, the international community, and the MEK itself can take to resolve the situation at Camp Ashraf. These steps should precede any decision to delist the group from the FTO roster.

First, Camp Ashraf should be dismantled under the supervision of the United Nations, the International Red Cross, and the U.S. military. Clashes similar to those that took place earlier this year between Iraqi forces and camp residents must be prevented, and the rights of MEK members should be upheld.

Second, MEK leaders should be distinguished from rank-and-file members and should not be granted immunity from prosecution for any possible involvement in terror attacks or human rights abuses. There are concerns that MEK leaders are using the current negotiations with the Obama administration to ensure their own security while exploiting their members as bargaining chips. The RAND corporation reports that the MEK has frequently used the threat of mass suicide as a negotiating tactic. In RAND’s description, this is evidence of the group’s "cultic characteristics."

Third, law enforcement and psychological support services should be provided to assist camp residents who wish to leave the organization. This step will be difficult since the MEK — like most cults — has made its members emotionally, psychologically, and financially dependent on the organization and fearful of retribution if they leave.

Fourth, residents of Ashraf should be offered resettlement in third countries and reunification with their families if they meet the requirement of the United Nations to renounce violence. According to the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, the majority of Camp Ashraf residents have not yet explicitly renounced violence, which would make them eligible for refugee status. Most importantly, there should be no forcible return to Iran .

Fifth and finally, the MEK as a whole — not just its political wing, the National Council for Iranian Resistance (NCRI) — must renounce violence in an official proclamation, published both in English and Persian, and completely disarm before being considered for FTO delisting. American forces have never searched the camp, nor have they searched vehicles moving in and out it. Full access to the camp must be given to verify the MEK’s disarmament.

The rights of MEK members to express their opinions, to associate, and to peacefully assemble are guaranteed by international law and should be recognized. But those rights must be exercised in accordance with democratic principles and others’ human rights, and in the absence of violence or its threat.

The current debate over delisting seems premature to most experts, but it presents an important opportunity to restore the rights of hundreds of individuals trapped at Camp Ashraf. Removing the MEK from the U.S. terrorist list would do nothing to end the human rights violations faced by MEK members. Only by dismantling the camp, disarming the group, separating the leadership from the rank and file, and providing low-level members rehabilitation support can the human rights situation be resolved. If these urgent steps are not immediately implemented, residents of Camp Ashraf are in grave danger of falling victims to a humanitarian catastrophe.

From Terror Group to ‘Our Friends’

The Mujahedin-e Khalq might be gaining popularity outside Iran but many of their claims warrant serious scrutiny. Why aren’t the powerful supporters of this exiled group looking more closely?

For a group seeking the recognition and patronage of the United States, there’s possibly no worse place to be than on the US State Department’s list of Foreign Terrorist Organisations. For Iranian exile group the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK), being officially labeled terrorists is a major hindrance to hefty political ambitions. But thanks to a multi-million dollar lobbying effort — including large payments to prominent former US government officials — and an astute remodeling of their image, they are on the cusp of being removed from that list.

If the MEK succeeds — a decision by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is expected any day now — it will be the culmination of a remarkable transformation; in a little under a decade, they’ve gone from a violent, cult-like, Marxist-Islamist group, with ties to Saddam Hussein and an anti-imperialist, anti-American agenda — to one described last month by a US Congressmen as "our friends".

The ambitions of the MEK don’t stop with their delisting though. What the group really wants is recognition and support for its claim to be the sole, legitimate, Iranian opposition. This claim is spectacularly false; the group has little to no public support within Iran. But that’s not standing in the way of the growing number of influential US politicians and political players embracing them.

The phenomenal lobbying and propaganda juggernaut of the MEK has already swept through Europe. After the recruitment of significant numbers of European parliamentarians to their cause, and dozens of court battles, they were delisted as a terrorist group in the UK and the European Union in 2008 and 2009 respectively.

Last year a Washington court ordered the State Department to reconsider the MEK’s status on the FTO list. The decision now lies with Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, and her deliberations have been against the backdrop of a fierce lobbying campaign, ramped up in the last eight months.

Key to this effort has been an impressive parade of former US government officials, wheeled out to support the group at MEK arranged press conferences in Paris, Washington and Brussels. More than 40 have appeared, with star recruits including former CIA head James Woolsey, President Obama’s former national security advisor Jim Jones, former Commander in Chief of US Central Command Anthony Zinni, president Bush’s Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge, Obama’s former director of National Intelligence Dennis Blair, former mayor of New City Rudy Giuliani, and former Democrat presidential hopeful Howard Dean.

Investigations by Financial Times journalist Anna Fifield have revealed that dozens of these former officials have been paid handsomely for their appearances. Fifield reports "a sliding pay scale of $20,000 to $100,000 per speech, plus travel costs, and that four-speech packages were common". A former Pennsylvanian Governor Ed Rendell told Fifield he was paid $20,000 for an 11 minute speech.

The message delivered at these events follows a consistent narrative; it says that Iran is developing a nuclear weapons program and is an imminent threat to the United States, that dialogue with the Iranian regime is futile, and the only solution is to delist and support the MEK who will take on and remove the Iranian regime. (Just how the MEK would "remove" the Iranian government is never made clear. Because they are at the same time arguing to be removed from the list of terrorists because they have renounced the use of violence, they clearly can’t advocate a violent overthrow.) The political wing of the MEK says it even has a provisional government in exile waiting for when "the mullahs are toppled", complete with a president, currently based in Paris.
(As I first reported for SBS’s Dateline program in 2006, the MEK has been a key player in promoting the belief that Iran is developing a nuclear weapon, by publicising so called "intelligence revelations" — of which many have subsequently shown to be exaggerated or wrong. The MEK continues to assert Iran is developing a bomb, despite US intelligence assessments consistently saying there is no evidence of this.)[…].

The MEK has played no real role in Iranian political or civic life for three decades. They were active participants in the 1979 revolution that overthrew the Shah, but soon fell out with the new Islamic government, and thousands of their members were brutally executed by the new regime. They fled Iran in the early 1980s and went to Iraq, where they formed a relationship with Saddam Hussein. In a move that sounded the death-knell for any lingering support they may have had in their home country, the MEK sided with Iraq against their countrymen during the brutal Iran-Iraq war. In Iran today, where people still openly grieve the hundreds of thousands of Iranian men and boys killed in this war, it is unfathomable to ever image the MEK being welcomed back.

Today the MEK — and its political wing, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) — presents itself as an organisation with democratic and secular ideals. But many experts are sceptical the group has really shed its violent pedigree. Ray Takeyh, from think tank the Council on Foreign Relations says "terror has always been a hallmark of MEK’s strategy for assuming power". Within the region, the MEK is remembered for its craven act of brutally suppressing the 1991 uprising of Iraqi Shia and Kurds, on behalf of their benefactor Saddam Hussein. This operation was carried out by the current leadership of the MEK.

Testimony of numerous former members also throws into doubt claims of being a democratic organisation, with the MEK exhibiting many characteristics of a cult. According to these accounts, members are brainwashed into devotion of the group’s leaders, have been forced to cut family ties, divorce spouses, and give away children. Human Rights Watch has documented cases of psychological and physical abuse against MEK members who dared dissent.

You’d think that after the Iraqi exile Ahmed Chalabi helped goad the United States into its disastrous misadventure in Iraq, US politicians would be a little wary of dissidents bearing gifts. Chalabi — with his manufactured Iraqi "opposition group" the Iraqi National Congress — gave false assurances about the ease of "regime change", and wrongly asserted that Iraq was full of WMDs. The parallels with Chalabi and the MEK are striking.

But it appears the lure of a slick, cooperative, "opposition group" is once again proving irresistible. More than 100 members of Congress — both Democrat and Republican — are co-sponsors on a resolution to delist the MEK, and the number of former officials prepared to speak on their behalf is growing. While the MEK’s powers of persuasion are no doubt great — a report from independent research group RAND called them "skilled manipulators of public opinion" — it still raises the question of how can so many otherwise well-informed people overlook the obvious flaws and dubious background of the MEK?

When Inter Press Service journalist Barbara Slavin questioned Lee Hamilton — a former Chair of the House Foreign Relations Committee and head of a major think tank — about his support for the MEK, he said he wasn’t aware of the cult-like nature of the group. Really?

Closer to the truth, is not that the MEK’s Western supporters don’t know, it’s that they don’t care. It’s as simple as the proposition that the enemy of my enemy is my friend. The MEK is attractive because it offers to provide a neat solution to the problem of a belligerent Iran.

At a recent Congressional hearing on Capitol Hill in Washington, Democratic Congressman Bob Filner — one of the MEK’s biggest supporters in Congress — was told by an expert witness that the MEK had a "discursive ideology with violent elements". Filner replied, "So what, so what!" He went on to say, "I don’t care what religion they are, what ideology they have … these are our friends. We should be getting out of their way and delist them, and let them do what they can". When the witness — an academic — pointed out that the MEK is generally hated in Iran, Filner said: "I don’t agree … even if you’re right, so what?"

The Iranian people do care though. Representatives of the Green Movement are aghast at the growing American support for the MEK. From their point of view the MEK is one gigantic fraud[…].

One of the MEK’s key supporters in Washington, Republican Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, only heightened these fears when he said of the MEK last month: "I will have to admit, that one of the things that attracts me to this movement is that it is willing to fight". [..]

Respectfully , first I would like to introduce myself . I am Milad Ariayei who spent more than 20 years of my youth in pmoi and I would like to share my experiences with you about pmoi. the experiences which are the yield and the outcome of my life in there.
I ,as a result of living closely with pmoi , am completely familiar and acquainted with their violent and savage thoughts ,consequently I can inform you about the prospects , outlooks and objectives of this organization and I can be a very useful source of information in this regard and i hope you can utilize my experiences for a better judgment over pmoi file.
I ,as a critic and opposed to such thoughts which has developed in my country and has grown among the opposition groups of Iran and Iranian people , would like to speak to you and as the former member of the central council and committee of this organization, would like to draw your attention to the following vital facts :

As you know that the current world has been suffering a lot from the terrorism and the terrorist and fundamentalist thoughts which has jeopardized the routine and normal life of every human beings.

As you know that the terrorist groups with their violent objectives are trying their best to compel and impose their retarded ideology and thoughts to the people and in case of any sign of resistance and opposition to their thoughts they will respond in the bloodiest way possible and they begin to physical removal and assassinate their opponents and anyone who has any dissent with their thoughts and ideology.

Our current world has been confronting with different challenges as a result of This retarded and fundamentalist ideology and thoughts, consequently the responsibility of all the world political figures specially the ones who have more influence in the world than others is doubled . I believe that you as the secretary of state of the United states with your expert diagnosis and timely decision making can beget the condition which the people of the world can live peacefully.
In the Middle East and in one of the most stressful countries of the world , Iran , the pmoi is one of the terrorist organizations which has been listed and designated as a terrorist organization in the US state department -terrorist list since 1997and since then This organization has tried its best to escape from justice by changing its face. Pmoi in the condition which there has not been any changes in its thoughts and objectives ,is trying hard in the current world to reach to its unjust objectives and needs which are wrapped in fake gold , by deceiving the political thoughts and they are ready to sacrifice thousands to reach to their unjust objectives.

The ideology of pmoi
Pmoi in its ideology and intellectual basis believes in physical removal of its opponents and they do not believe in any political or ideological dialogue with their opponents and they believe that any dialogue with their opponents is futile and fruitless. They believe ideologically that anyone who is killed for their holy objectives and their cause will enter to the paradise.

The formation of pmoi
Pmoi does not have the character , relations, formation or establishment and the leadership of an organization or a democratic party. This organization believes in the spiritual leader or in the Arabic expression , Amirol Momenin.
Massoud Rajavi is the permanent spiritual leader of this current and claims to have connection with the 12th imam (Imam Zaman, The 12th imam of Shiites who is absent and will emerge someday in the current world ) . The spiritual leader of this organization with this way of thinking and ideology never believes in democratic election within its organization and for this reason till he lives he will be the permanent leader and the owner of this organization, consequently he will not be responsive to his members , supporters and even the Iranian people.

This formation and establishment runs like a confined religious cult(sect) which does not believe in the freedom of thoughts, votes , and public opinion and it tries its best to impose its will upon others.
In Massoud Rajavi’s ideology and beliefs , he is the only one who has the ability to know the facts of our current world and he is the only one who can understand the reality of creation , universe and political relations.
The leadership in this organization is sacred and the leadership is a belief and it is not a political matter and in comparison with Bin Laden , the political and spiritual leader of Al Qaeda, Massoud Rajavi has the same position as Bin Laden had.

Pmoi and the issue of freedom and democracy
-The pmoi internal relations is based on religious beliefs and like the other ideological systems , they are not committed to any principled and fundamental basis of human rights, the definite freedoms mentioned in the United Nation’s charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
-The dissidents and critics are severely suppressed and oppressed inside the pmoi relations.
-There is no individual and personal security and safety for the critics inside pmoi relations.
-The dissidents are confronted with harassment , insult, humiliation , torture and imprisonment.
-The individual freedom , the humane prestige and personality , individual security and safety, right to freedom of marriage and divorce and freedom of expression and opinion are all severely suppressed.
– They are so called courts of law inside pmoi for the dissidents and critics who desire to leave and maximum punishment is the death penalty.

The management systems and practices in pmoi

There is no communication whatsoever between the members of this organization with the outside world and any means such as radio , television , newspaper and magazines are not provided for the members. The intellectual and political feeding is carried out just by pmoi news sources such as internal bulletin , training within the organization, and closed circuit televisions .

Nobody has the right to discuss about politics and political issues. Any connection between 2 friends and family is completely forbidden. such connections are labeled as liberal links and they are totally forbidden. Gathering of 2 or 3 persons out of pmoi supervision is completely forbidden and will have harsh consequences for the perpetrators.
The only way that we can value the pmoi internal relations is to compare their relations with the similar ideology in the medieval.

Madam Secretary of State

It is unbelievable but you should know that in 21 century inside the pmoi relations nobody is allowed to have a radio and nobody is allowed to listen to the news and the only way that the members of pmoi can receive news is by pmoi formal channels.
Nobody inside the pmoi relations has no rights and everything in pmoi is compulsory and obligatory. Every person who enters to pmoi relations should be completely obedient and devoted.

Reading book in pmoi relations is completely forbidden and if someone has a passion to read a book he or she will be considered as dissident who wants to leave pmoi. Inside Ashraf garrison , there is a library but it is just for deceiving the guests and outsiders.

Pmoi and how they deal with other characters and Iranian opposition inside and outside of Iran

As a result of Pmoi suppressive and anti democratic nature and character, the pmoi does not recognize any move or action from other political oppositions and instead they attack to those political oppositions offensively . in pmoi point of view there are more than hundred political and open minded activists in United states and European countries who are working for Iranian intelligence service . the pmoi insult and accusations toward Iranian political activists is not confined just to Iranians even Mrs. Madeleine Albright the former Secretary of state of the united states was slandered by pmoi as an agent of Iranian intelligence service. Every one in European parliament or in UK House of Lords also can be insulted , labeled and accused by pmoi as an agent of Iranian intelligence service . It is worth noting that these kind of accusations and insult are pmoi known tactics to escape from the revelation of their real entity and criticism and they have chosen this kind of tactic to escape from being responsive about their past and internal relations.

Pmoi deals and confronts with its opponents and critics in European countries by intimidation, slander , insult, violence and mace bearing. Up to now more than ten session and meeting of other political opposition and human rights activists have been attacked by the followers of Massoud Rajavi and the participants in those sessions and meetings have been badly beaten up by pmoi followers.
