Mujahedin Khalq Organization's Propaganda System

A solution to counteract MKO misinformation

On early December, BBC quoted Mojahedin Khalq Organization (MKO, MEK, PMOI, NCR) that it never consents to evacuate Camp Ashraf under any condition adding that any attempts by the Iraqi Government to force the group out of its base might result in further bloodshed. Earlier in a message, Rajavi had announced his readiness to leave Ashraf on condition of receiving a big sum of money for the price of the camp. Of course, many were of the opinion that his words meant buying more time and lengthening the process of relocation. But one thing is certain that the Iraqi Government’s ultimatum reaching its final days, the organization is also preparing to confront, as it has already threatened, any move by the Iraqi forces against its bastion as it did in July that resulted in many casualties.

That is while according to the state’s spokesman, Ali al-Dabbagh, the Iraqi forces and police had “an order not to use any live rounds”. The residents’ fierce resistance against attempts to quell the violence eventually led to an estimated casualty of two deaths and 110 injured from the Iraqi forces and 11 claimed deaths and some 500 wounded from among the Ashraf residents.

What is of great significance and attention in all these is MKO’s broad and widespread propaganda to demonize the Iraqi Government and to demonstrate itself as the oppressed. While the Iraqi Government prefers not to run out of patience with the group to find a peaceful solution to end the issue, MKO has insisted on the application of violence and continuation of an aggressive resistance. The government is doing nothing but trying to execute the law that the constitution and the nation requires to be accomplished rather than appeasement of a terrorist group that claims an autonomous territory on the soil of a sovereign state. The organization’s subsequent propaganda blitz against the Iraqi Government mainly aims to attract the attentions of advocates to interfere and to take the side of Mojahedin to impose them on the government and guarantee their stay in Iraq.

That is why suddenly a rightful enter of a country’s forces to impose the law turns into the eye catching headlines of “crime against humanity”, “barbaric attack by Iraqi forces”, “storm against Camp Ashraf” and the like by MKO’s media and propaganda machine that did much better than the Iraqis in this respect. The incident was recorded mostly from MKO’s cameras and reports released as the group aired. In fact, all the media and news agencies reflected just what MKO had released about the incident with the very same words, pictures and footages.

In contrast, Iraq underestimated the need to counteract the group’s heavily influential propaganda by making it clear that it was not so complicated an issue and violation of any right but just an ordinary act of controlling a terrorist group imposed on it as an unwanted and problematic legacy of the ousted dictator. MKO has come to understand that its relocation to Baghdad means a never-return to camp Ashraf and the beginning of expulsion and wandering in nowhere. As a result, it prefers to save its present foothold that seems much secure by any means and price. It has whatever it needs to line against Iraqi’s determination; the well trained militants that are ready to follow any organizational command just as when Rajavi encouraged them to initiate a suicide operation against the Iranian borders just after the announced ceasefire between Iran and Iraq. It is a scenario that can be put into action easily whenever necessary and to put the blame on the other side.

At the present MKO has chosen the psychological warfare whose bullets are bloodless and unethical with the outmost impact on the public opinion. It is a seemingly peaceful but offensive weapon that attempts to exploit the Iraqi’s weaknesses in media and propaganda coverage that helps further tactical achievements for the terrorists. It will be a good move by Iraq to invite international observers, as it invited reporters, to prove that its words mesh with its actions concerning its good-intention when dealing with the group according to its adopted laws and decisions.

The presence of the international humanitarian bodies and organizations like ICRC and UNHRC, as well as the reporters’ cameras side by side of the Iraqi forces when the government announces the exact date of the Ashraf relocation to execute the law can well judge between the side that is violent and infringes the regulations and the laws. For sure, MKO’s propaganda machine fails to spread misinformation before responsible eyes and cameras watching closely.

Iraq’s decision to expel MKO backed by international law

Iraq’s Media Development Centre held a conference in Baghdad on the government’s decision to expel the Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) terrorist group. A number of Iraqi popular as well as media figures attended the conference, held in Baghdad Al-Mansour Hotel, to express their views on the issue, Habilian Association (families of Iranian terror victims) news website quoted Iraq’s Media Development Centre as reporting.Iraq’s Media Development Centre held a conference in Baghdad on the government’s decision to expel the Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization

Dr Adnan Siraj, head of Iraq’s Media Development Centre, Dr Hassan Salman, chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Iraqi Media Network (IMN), Dr Tariq Harb, Iraqi well known lawyer, Dr Ali Shalah, member of the Board of Trustees of the IMN, and Eng. Layla Tamimi were the main guest speakers.

“Iraq doesn’t recognize the MKO”

“The MKO cooperated with Iraq’s enemies through holding meetings with Iraqi dissidents following the fall of Saddam Hussein. This led to the government’s decision to expel any terrorist groups, including the MKO, from the country,” Dr Adnan Siraj said.

“The MKO has forgotten that it is a terrorist group recognized neither by Iraq nor the rest of the world. They were doomed to leave Camp Ashraf in December 15 so that they would be moved to any country who would accept them. Camp Ashraf, the cult’s main base in Diyalah province, will turn into a public entertainment centre for the local people,” Siraj added.

“MKO not asylum-seekers”

“At one time, the MKO had tanks and light and heavy artillery and moved to Iraq upon a political decision by the then Iraqi regime at the height of Iran-Iraq war. There was also a Western agreement behind this. Therefore, the cult members cannot be regarded as asylum-seekers, since they left Iran for France and then were moved to Iraq by France and Britain,” Dr Hassan Salman said.

“The cult’s presence in Iraq thus could be regarded as a political, military and security decision. The MKO is regarded as a terrorist organization by the US and many other countries,” Salman said, who was recently threatened to death by the terrorist cult.

“The cult didn’t enter Iraq as usual asylum-seekers but as a result of a political decision to be used against Iranian and Iraqi people,” Dr Ali Shalah repeated referring to problems made by the MKO’s presence in Iraq.

“Iraq’s decision backed by international law”

“The Iraqi government’s decision to expel terrorist groups is backed not only by the Iraqi Constitution but also international law,” Dr Tariq Harb insisted.

“According to the international law, any country can make their own laws on giving asylum. The MKO terrorist cult has no lawful right to stay in Iraq,” Harb reminded.

“MKO involved in Iraqi massacres”

“The MKO has committed the most savage crimes against Diyalah people. They were involved in killing and torturing the 1991 Iraqi Shiite Intifada activists close to the Iranian border in Khaniqain Road and north Diyalah. So there’s no end to their terror efforts and it is a military force used by Saddam Hussein against the Iraqi nation,” Eng. Layla Tamimi said.

Human Rights Abuse in the MEK

Human Rights in MKO’s Ideology – Part 3

In her message, Maryam Rajavi heightens hypocrisy to pretend her faith in Islam using the verses of holy Quran to justify their inhumane activities giving them an Islamic cover.
Maryam Rajavi speaks of Islamic kindness so enthusiastically that one may think she has never heard of violence and terror
The peak of such interpretation of Quran was the so-called ideological revolution when Massoud Rajavi was called as ideological leader.

The misuse of Islam, Imam Zaman [last Imam in Shiite Islam who is expected to return to salvage the world as well as Jesus] calling Rajavi as the ideological leader paves the way for Rajavi to view himself as the owner of people’s lives, wealth and spouses and to declare officially that all women in the organization are his own wives and other men are not allowed to even look at those women.

Despite above mentioned argument, Maryam Rajavi hypocritically resorts to Quran and speaks of Islam’s blessing and kindness. For those who have lived in Ashraf and witnessed the cult-like relations ruling the Camp, it is obvious to see a huge contradiction between Maryam’s words and activities. The terrorist, violent nature of the organization has never included kindness and blessing.

Maryam Rajavi speaks of Islamic kindness so enthusiastically that one may think she has never heard of violence and terror. You may not believe that she is able to order her members to commit terrorist activities. The following topics include some instances of Rajavi’s kindness and affection!

– Assassination of Iranian citizens before the eyes of their families.
– Torture against dissident members of the cult who labeled as the spies of IRI under the direct order of Massoud Rajavi.
– Opening fire on Captured Iranian soldiers who were detained after Eternal Light Operation.
– Firing Katyusha rockets on Kurdish towns of Iraq in Iraqi Intifada, in 1991,under the order of Massoud and Maryam Rajavi.
– Taking Iraqi Kurds under MKO tanks in order to save their bullets for Iranian soldiers.
– Launching grenade attacks on residential areas in Iran killing innocent citizens in 2000 and 2001.

The self – assigned president elect of NCR has been waiting for the overthrow of Iranian regime and then her own presidency in Iran. She claims that she will recognize individuals’ freedom for women in future Iran and will respect women’s rights as well as human rights.”

It is fun to see the big difference between Maryam Rajavi’s claims and her divorce revolution where a large number of members were forced to divorce their spouses because Rajavi believes that family is the center of corruption and marriage is forbidden. There have been long years that no one has got married in MKO and all women are widows or divorces but engaged with Massoud Rajavi. This clear contradiction doesn’t prevent Mrs. Rajavi from claiming that she believes in equal right of divorce for women.

While she claims that any type of force or impose on women for their family life, is forbidden, Maryam Rajavi imposes the most serious forced separations on MKO families especially on those women who were in love with their husbands and had lived with them for a lot of years. So far a lot of women have gone depressed or psychological diseases due to the high pressure the organization imposed on them including Hamideh Kouzegar’s case which ended with her death.

The women in the cult of Rajavi are evenforced to bear hysterectomy operations, according to Batoul Soltani, former member of MKO’s leadership Council. She said that Nafiseh Badamchi (a doctor in MKO) was responsible to carry out the operation.

In the last part of her message, Maryam Rajavi forbids polygamy and promises to execute this law after her illusional rule on Iran!!! Apparently she forgets to confess that Massoud Rajavi now has more than 600 wives! (All women in leadership Council).

As Batoul Soltani describes in her memoirs “ they told us that we were all Massoud’s wives and he was our husband … there was a meeting held in Leadership Council where a marriage certificate was introduced for each member of the council and so all women became Massoud’s ideological wives.”

The above mentioned instances reveal just a small part of Rajavi’s deceitful personality who tends to deceive western politicians under the cover of pro-democracy slogans.

Mujahedin Khalq; A proxy force

The hypocrisy of American bluster toward Iran

Ileana Ros-Lehtinen under the terrorist spotlight

A U.S. representative who accused Tehran of sponsoring terrorism has a track record of supporting terrorists herself.

By now there is little doubt that hypocrisy has become Washington’s standing policy on foreign affairs. What is astounding is the lack of shame in such overt duplicity as Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen’s (R-Fla.) accusations in her Dec. 14 Times Op-Ed article that Iran is a state sponsor of terrorists — when she herself has a track record of supporting terrorists.

In February 1988, Orlando Bosch was arrested in Miami and implicated in the 1976 plot to blow up Cubana Flight 455, a terrorist act that killed 73 passengers. Joe D. Whitley, the associate U.S. attorney general at the time, called Bosch "a terrorist, unfettered by laws or human decency, threatening and inflicting violence without regard to the identity of his victims." Bosch, however, had the distinct advantage of having Ros-Lehtinen make advocating for his release one of the cornerstones of her 1989 congressional campaign. Bosch had another advantage: Ros-Lehtinen’s campaign manager was Jeb Bush, President George H.W. Bush’s son. In 1990, after lobbying by Jeb Bush and Ros-Lehtinen, the Bush administration went against the Justice Department’s recommendation to deport Bosch and authorized his release. Since then, Bosch has become a permanent resident of the United States.

Ros-Lehtinen also supports the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK), a group by the State Department as a foreign terrorist group. Leading up to the Iraq war, in October 2002, Ros-Lehtinen circulated a letter in Congress expressing support for the MEK. She continues her support.

Common sense dictates that Iran would want security in its two neighboring countries given the spillover effect. By now, it is also common knowledge that the Sunni Taliban and Shiite Iran have been hostile toward each other for years (several Iranian diplomats were killed by the Taliban in 1998), and no doubt this hostility led to Iran’s decision to assist the Northern Alliance and the U.S. in efforts in the overthrow of the Taliban after the 9/11 attacks — efforts that were rewarded with the infamous "axis of evil" brand. Yet Ros-Lehtinen would insult the American public’s intelligence by telling them that Iran, without mentioning any history, has a hand in Afghanistan. Does Ros-Lehtinen ever wonder if other countries simply do not welcome occupation by any foreign force?

One has to question what motivates Ros-Lehtinen in her push to put financial sanctions on foreign and domestic companies that sell refined petroleum products to Iran. Doing so could lead to more job losses in America and more hostilities between U.S. allies and Iran. This is a time when our policy makers should be thinking about America and Americans, period.

The cult of Rajavi

The significance of regular inquisition within MKO cult – Part1

Generally programmed to be fervent adherents of a cult’s ideology and its defender against the outsiders, the members of a cult are under constant supervision and regular instructions and also to discover any change that might endanger the integrity of the community. Even a temporal detachment from the group can possibly deprogram them effectively and open their minds and eyes to a real world totally devoid of the lies and propagandas that had been methodically instilled into them through the brainwashing techniques.

A constant, regular monitoring technique within the cult of Mojahedin to have the mind and behavioral changes of the insiders under control is weekly confessions sessions (Jari sessions), better to call inquisition, through which members have to confess before others of their thoughts and intentions and are in fact forced to pledge allegiance to the leadership. Following critical situations and sensitive cases, it is before the leader himself rather than other subordinates that certain members have to prove their allegiance. Although people living in free, democratic world may laugh at such seemingly droll things in the modern world it is strictly practiced in most of cult particularly in the cult of Mojahedin.

Soon after the freedom of 36 MKO on the part of the Iraqi government and their settlement in camp Ashraf, the so-called Jari sessions were held for them via a telephone conference under the responsibility of Masoud Rajavi, a program aired by Mojahedin TV. There are some significant points to be noted in this regard. The behavior of the organization regarding these members was against humanity to force them take part in long sessions and interrogations despite their adverse physical conditions and the fact that some were under interrogation while lying in bed receiving medical treatment.

The fact is that bearing the conditions of these sessions is impossible even for the healthy members let alone those being one step far from death; as Maryam Rajavi said they would have died in 12 hours if they had not been released. Her claim may imply that the basic and fundamental pillars of the ideological-political survival of the organization are their organizational bastion, camp Ashraf, as well as inquisition sessions in particular to the point that they are not to be stopped under any conditions. Even those under treatment have to explain where they were, what they did, and how sincere they had been to operating Jari sessions by firm proof and evidence in the first hours of their arrival to the organization.

According to the statements made by Mrs. Soltani on suicide attacks, even two-manned teams entering Iran for accomplishing terrorist activities had to hold regular Jari sessions. In confirming her statements, it has to be pointed out that these 36 members insisted that they would hold Jari sessions among themseles under any conditions all through the course of their detention.

In no better way could the organization warn the adversaries. The airing of these inquisition sessions by Mojahedin’s TV may be considered a threat and warning particularly against the Iraqi government and officials. The organization is vigilant to observe the reaction of Iraqi officials to these programs to organize its future actions and policies. Iraqi officials are to pursue these sessions watchfully and analyze them carefully to find out the true cultic identity of Mojahedin.

Beside the paradoxical statements of these 36 individuals regarding the conditions of their imprisonment and the behavior of Iraqi government, what is apparent is the full influence of organization on these individuals. The only solution for queering this influence is separation of high rankings from the rank and files without which neither can the freedom of captive members be materialized nor can Mojahedin be expelled from Iraqi soil.

The shared point of the statements of all these 36 persons is pleasing the person in charge of Jari sessions, Masoud Rajavi. These statements focus on some points like confessing to their full dependence upon Masoud to whom they feel indebted under any conditions. The other point is their insistence on proving their loyalty to the leader and organization that guarantees their survival.

Externalizing these relations in one of the most critical periods of the organization when it is trying to attract the attention of the West has paradoxical dimensions. Although those familiar with the nature of the organization have fathomed its cultic and terrorist threat, there are still those who need to observe these aired footages and think of a way for minimizing or eliminating the threat of the organization as an unknown cult. The internal structure of the organization may imply its policy in dealing with the outside world too. It has out-and-out focus on submission and obedience toward one person as the leader at any price. The fact that all these 36 members and the audience state clearly that they are ready to die, kill, and bear hunger and thirst since their leader carries the main burden of the adverse conditions and pains may have many lessons for the outside world.

The publication of Rajavi’s own presence in the management of these sessions is of very significance and may raise some speculations. It may mean the termination of his organizational-cultic hide-out to stop the disintegration of the organization, a warning for the outsiders, or his presence in camp Ashraf and justifying the attempts of MKO members in defending Camp Ashraf and resisting to leave it. If it is so, a great part of the incidents happening inside and outside camp Ashraf may be attributed to his presence in camp Ashraf. According to RAND report, the Americans have evaded to inspect many Mojahedin facilities and it is very likely that Masoud Rajavi is settled somewhere inside Camp Ashraf.

Mujahedin Khalq Organization as a terrorist group

Iran: Mojahedin Khalq terrorists arrested in protests

A source with the Iranian Intelligence Ministry has announced the arrest of a number of Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) terrorists in the anti-government protests that sparked in central Tehran. Mojahedin Khalq terrorists arrested in protests

Protestors took to some central and downtown streets in Tehran, hijacking the Shia Muslims Ashura event during which people commemorate the 7th century death of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) grandson, Hussein (PBUH).

The unnamed source was quoted by Fars News Agency as saying that protestors had attacked mourners participating in Ashura ceremonies and damaged public property and parked vehicles in central Tehran.

The protesters reportedly chanted slogans against top Iranian government officials.

According to the Intelligence Ministry source, a number of MKO terrorists were arrested in this connection

Mujahedin Khalq Organization's Propaganda System

MKO misuse a religious occasion

Every year on the tenth of Muharram, the first month of the lunar calendar known as Ashura, millions of Muslim Shiits throughout the world commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of the Prophet Mohammad’s grandson Hussein in 680 AD. Traditionally, the mourners gather at shrines and mosques and fill the streets and chant religiously related slogans.

That is what happens every year in Muslim and non-Muslim countries and Iran, with a majority of shiits, is not an exception and you can see millions of people in black marching in ritual processions and crowded sessions here and there on the day.

Taking advantage of the occasion as usual, MKO hijacked the Shia Muslims Ashura event and a number of the group’s provoked and paid thugs tried to disturb the streets in Tehran by chanting anti-regime slogans that resulted in casualties including four deaths.

The move was the outcome of a plot to initiate a vast propaganda to demonstrate the current ten-day lasting religious ceremonies in Iran as scenes of nationwide uprising against the regime that reached its climax on its last day. In a message following the sporadic disturbances, Maryam Rajavi, leading the terrorist cult of Mojahedin in the absence of her husband, described ‘the outburst of millions of Iranians on Ashura on streets across the country as a clear signal of the inevitable and imminent downfall of the regime’.

The organization has made its attempts to wage violence and social disturbance as a protest against the Iranian regime that the post-election protests ensued.

Human Rights Abuse in the MEK

Human Rights in MKO’s Ideology – Part 2

It seems that Maryam Rajavi forgets to point out those women in her organization ,who didn’t want to divorce from their husbands, were violently treated by their female officials who were also turned into violent people with the worst behaviors towards minors under their responsibility. The violence of female high ranking officials of MKO is of the most systematic type. For those who are not acquainted with Rajavi’s cult-like practices, Maryam‘s cheerful, colorful clothing may seem fascinating but for the ones who have touched and tolerated MKO relationships,

In her so-called message (on the occasion of the International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women), Maryam Rajavi says:”Systematic Violence against Women includes an infinite chain of prohibition: freedom of clothing is prohibited, divorce is forbidden, socializing without the husband’s permission is forbidden and …”

For those who are not acquainted with Rajavi’s cult-like practices, Maryam‘s cheerful, colorful clothing may seem fascinating but for the ones who have touched and tolerated MKO relationships, the organization’s practices are the most violent and the most unjust in the whole world. The following includes some examples of their cruelty:

Firstly, there are some questions to ask MKO leaders.

  • Do you know any woman in Ashraf, who is allowed to remove her scarf?
  • Do you know any woman in Ashraf who is free to wear clothes other than military uniform assigned by the organization to wear?
  • Do you know any woman in Ashraf to believe in any religion or ideology except the ones that Rajavis dictate?
  • Do you know any individual in the entire cult of Rajavi who is allowed to do any job except the one that the leaders assign?
  • Do you know anybody (either male or female) who is allowed to complain about the plan or job he or she is assigned to carry out in the daily routine?
  • Is any female member of MKO allowed not to attend a meeting?

And there are a lot of more questions to ask MKO leader on human rights abuses they commit in Ashraf. How can Maryam Azdanlou claim to be a defender of human rights while no woman in Camp Ashraf is allowed to wear clothes other than military uniform, no woman can walk out of her unit except with the permission of her senior official, and otherwise she will be punished.

Following their so-called ideological revolution when they forced the couples to divorce they went further and in 1991 they separated the divorced mothers from their children even newly –born babies who were sent to Europe. How can Maryam Rajavi argue about fostering laws of Islamic Republic?

Today hundreds of women are isolated and captured in the cult of Rajavi, deprived of any social, political and educational life and in the meantime ,a lot of women reached high degrees in political, social and educational scene of Iran.

And now Mrs. Rajavi, who has stopped her female members growing for more than three decades, claims that Iranian women are kept retarded! The claim comes in a condition where a large number of women of her cult are physically controlled by complicated cult-like systems, according to the testimonies made by former members, any complaint or disobedience is reacted with the worst punishments even physical types.

Nonstop work schedule the Rajavis plan for the members is another way to keep them exhausted in order to control them easier as well as constant brainwashing meetings.

In a paragraph of her message, Maryam Rajavi mentions the situation of women in Camp Ashraf although she and her fugitive husband have left them in a dangerous limbo in Iraq.

Despite the negotiations and the deadline Iraqi government has assigned for MKO to expel them from its territory ,Maryam Rajavi has repeatedly sent messages to whether directly or indirectly encourage the members to resist the decision of Iraqi government.

As former colleagues and friends of Ashraf residents, we are concerned about the condition ruling Camp Ashraf and the fate of its residents. We believe that Rajavi’s efforts to ask Western governments guarantee MKO’s presence in Ashraf, will make their condition more complicated and more dangerous!

We believe that the Rajavis’ attempts to remain in Ashraf is not to maintain the lives of Ashraf residents but to maintain their own cult-like leadership over cult members.
