Rajavi becomes bold to address the US Administration directly to impose demands

MKO’s self-appointed leader, Maryam Rajavi, announced on 17 August that “As a gesture of goodwill, the residents of Ashraf will commence the 6th convoy of 400 residents from Camp MKO’s Demands Addressed to The US Administration Ashraf to Camp Liberty on August 23”.

Of course, she has been either assured of some promises or expects to see the already offered encouraging gesture of the State Department that considers cooperation in relocation as a key factor in determining whether the group remains on FTO list actually accomplished. That is what has made her bold enough to address the US Administration directly to impose demands as follows:

The residents anticipate and expect that the completion of convoy 6 will be followed by a public statement by the United States Government that recognizes the cooperation of the Ashraf residents and reiterates continued U.S. commitment to:

(i) the approach on FTO designation and delisting outlined by Secretary Clinton on February 29, 2012, recognizing that the decision of US Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit requires the Secretary of State to make a determination regarding the FTO designation of the PMOI (MeK) by October 1, 2012;

(ii) a real effort to resolve the remaining humanitarian issues at Liberty that materially affect the daily lives of the residents, including sustainable mechanisms to provide water and electricity; and

(iii) support the safety and security of the residents until they relocate to third countries outside of Iraq, in mindfulness of the fact that this universally desired outcome cannot happen expeditiously without delisting.

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq

Dear Mr. Kobler,

As the families of the victims, members and the ex-members of Mujahedin Khalq Organization, MEK/MKO/PMOINCR, we appreciate your humanitarian efforts to put an end to the predicament of the group’s enslaved members both in Camp Ashraf and those relocated to the Temporary Transit Location TTL. We understand that you look at the issue from a humanitarian point of view and to put an end to the plights of men destined to suffer for the atrocities plotted by others, but MKO is buying time trying to politicize your humanitarian effort. From the very beginning of the reached agreement to relocate residents in Ashraf, MKO leaders were seeking for unjustified excuses to either hinder the process or bring it to an abrupt halt, and it seems they have succeeded. Furthermore, through all this six-month long extended period, the Iraqi government and the UN have tolerated MKO’s cavils and its raised objection to any presented solution.

MKO complains that facilities at TTL are far from meeting basic living necessities and calls it a prison and detention center, whereas reports from UN monitors indicate that the quality of life at TTL even exceeds accepted humanitarian standards. MKO’s leadership obstinately refuses cooperation and places preconditions and makes demands, whereas the Iraqi government has shown cooperation with the UN and even delivered a cargo convoy of goods as demanded by the group on July 15. The leaders turn down the UN presented “roadmap” on claims that it sidelines and ignores the residents’ rights and endangers the security of residents, whereas the roadmap has been designed to address the concerns of both the residents and the Iraqi government by suggesting a series of steps to complete the peaceful relocation of residents.

And MKO did not hesitate to wage a psychological war against the UN, UNAMI you just following the presented “roadmap”. A passing look into a variety of MKO-run and fed webpages discloses a blatant gesture of defiance against the international guideline which is blasted by numerous advocates who, by disregarding the ethics in words, act as the group’s mouthpiece. One after another they have questioned impartiality and humanitarian intention of the UN in an attempt to defend MKO; they openly condemned your remarks calling them sheer lies that have further complicated the problem instead of providing any solution.

As a result, you have been added to the list of MKO opponents acting as elements of pressure on behalf of the Iraqi government, claimed to be itself taking orders from Iran, and collaborating to set the stage for a human tragedy and massacre. So, it was not a sudden shock to read Alejo Vidal-Quadras, chairing the MKO’s alias International Committee of In Search of Justice (ISJ), strongly denouncing your reports and making suggestion for your replacement: “ISJ would like to reemphasize the need for appointment of an objective and competent personal envoy by the Secretary General to Ashraf and Liberty so that all issues could be addressed in a fair and unbiased manner.”

Although a strong antagonism towards the UN, you and other cooperating sides, all this ado MKO makes serve for a different purpose. Frankly speaking, the dispute is not merely over a simple matter of relocation from a camp to another; the problem is MKO is reluctance to leave Ashraf and is still under the utopian delusion that it can impose its stay in Ashraf. The ideal solution MKO appreciates is the one that disapproves any relocation from Ashraf. The group is well aware of the fact that relocation from Ashraf means a permanent expulsion from Iraq sooner or later. But staying at the small utopia they built, even if seemingly in limbo, means a permanent or decades long stay until they will be delisted from the State Department blacklist and be received by other countries.

The problem is that MKO is inherently pessimistic, and as Winston Churchill explicates, “the pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity”. You have provided the group with many opportunities but the only received responses have been insurmountable difficulties and unjustifiable excuses that will never end. And the problem is that the UN’s policy of peaceful cooperation to stop a human tragedy has further emboldened MKO to wrongly misconstrue the attitude as the Iraqi government and the UN’s capitulation to its demands and that, they have no other choice but to submit to its wills. And the sole victims of this battle are the residents themselves whom Rajavi seems to be determined to preserve as human shields to construct a secure bulwark against a global decisiveness. Here are, as people well acquaintance with tactics of the group, a few suggestions that may help in your humanitarian mission:

– When you draw up guidelines or make decisions concerning MKO, be determined to put them into action before publicizing them. Inaction further hardens MKO’s attitude against any compromise and temporizing prompt it to bring unto scene a considerable capacity of its advocacy network to thwart efforts.

– A consensus is needed among the sides cooperating to end the crisis. The Iraqi government and people have also rights and demands that have to be respected and accounted. MKO, for instance, complain of water and electricity shortage and ask to be connected to Baghdad’s networks. The fact should be observed that such shortages are natural to meet because of the infrastructural deficits that fail to satisfy the demands of the people in the area. Furthermore, it should be noted that closure of Ashraf does not mean closing a military bastion but returning the seized lands to people they belong to.

– The right for the families of the residents to meet them has to be recognized. Both the families and residents are deprived of a free meeting that will grant them the opportunity of breaking the walls that your efforts have thinned.

– We appreciate your peaceful, humanitarian solution to the issue of relocation. But urging the Iraqi government publicly to “refrain from violence under any circumstances and to be generous when it comes to the humanitarian needs of the residents” further encourages MKO to be antagonistic without being questioned or criticized for its warlike attitude.

Who Breaks Deadlock over MKO Relocation?

The world should be concerned over MKO’s potentiality of waging all kinds of vendetta

All sides involved in the humanitarian issue of relocating the members of Mojahedin Khalq Organization MKO/MEK/PMOI from their military base, Camp Ashraf, to a transit facility near Baghdad seem to have been locked in a protracted battle over the plan. The Iraqi government, encouraged by the UN and the US, has so far maintained the credibility of practicing a humanitarian approach towards the residents and has respected human rights principles. In contrast, MKO has been insisting on exacerbating the tension it has generated.

Six months ago, the Iraqi government extended an extra six-month period to MKO’s deadline to leave Iraq upon a UN request that lasted on July 31. During the period, MKO members have displayed the least form of cooperation with the Iraqi authorities and only two third of the residents have been relocated to transitory camp. In an international conference held on the last day of the extended period, Iraq’s National Security Adviser Faleh al-Fyadh announced that the only option left for the terrorist group is to leave the country or face prosecution by the Iraqi justice system:

The Iraqi Government has shown cooperation with the UN and the UN had asked Iraq to give the MKO six months before being expelled. The six months have passed and their continued presence is not an option. If they refuse to leave, Iraq with deal with them as a group which is a threat to Iraq’s sovereignty.

By creating a variety of unjustifiable excuses, MKO has refused further relocation of its members. The group M complains of poor conditions at the transit camp while there are evidences of appropriate humanitarian and standard conditions at the camp according to UNAMI’s report corroborated by the US. In a press statement released yesterday, Patrick Ventrell, Acting Deputy Spokesperson, called on MKO leaders to cooperate since all its demands have been met by the Iraqi government:

We also call on the Ashraf leadership to immediately resume cooperation with the relocation of residents to Camp Hurriya, especially following the Iraqi Government’s delivery of a cargo convoy of goods as demanded by the residents on July 15. Allegations of dire humanitarian conditions at Hurriya are inconsistent with observations made by U.S. Government officials who have visited Hurriya, as well as reporting from UN monitors. Based on these reports, and other information, it is clear that the quality of life at Hurriya exceeds accepted humanitarian standards. The continued intransigence of the residents’ leadership in placing preconditions and making demands prior to any agreement to relocate further Ashraf residents is unacceptable and puts in danger protections established in the MOU.

Despite all efforts for seeking a peaceful solution in handling the MKO’s exit from Iraq, the group is resolved to heighten the tension to a point that might provoke a violent reaction, just what MKO dreams to happen. MKO never observes nor has any respect for human rights and international laws; it is getting ready for causing an appalling human tragedy rather than to end it. Although it is not in the interest of anyone to witness repetition of the provoked tragic clashes that took place in 2011 and led to many casualties from the both sides, MKO is not uninterested to make all residents martyrs to demonize the Iraqi government as well as securing a much more extended period of stay in Iraq with all needed sympathy directed in its own favor. The world should be concerned over the possible violent reaction from the terrorist MKO with a proven potentiality of waging all kinds of vendetta.

An Attorney Serving as Advocate forTerrorists

Dr. Gerson questions impartiality and humanitarian intention of the UN to defend MKO

It is argued that material support laws could properly be used to prosecute lawyers who act and talk on behalf of groups designated foreign terrorist organizations. But the problem is that majority of attorneys who serve terrorists escape prosecution mainly because they are either too experienced in their job or hardly any of them acknowledges that he might indeed have found himself on the wrong side of the line. Oddly enough, some of these terrorist advocates are notable attorneys and professionals known to observe traditional, anti-terrorist ethical guidelines who have often won battles against terrorists.

Dr. Allan Gerson is recognized as the first attorney to have engineered a practical basis for suing foreign governments for acts of terrorism. After the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, he initiated the first civil suit against a foreign state (Libya) on behalf of families of the victims. In 1996, his efforts were instrumental in the passage of the Anti-terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act. However, although an expert in his own profession, Dr. Gerson is walking in the same path with a designated terrorist group, Mojahedin Khalq Organization MKO/MEK/NCR, and repeating its very same baseless claims. At least nobody expected him to slam a humanitarian guideline set by the United Nations so hard in favor of a terrorist group that is waging a psychological war against international institutions.

The United Nations issued a press release on July 24 stating that its mission in Iraq, UNAMI, has presented a “roadmap” to the Government of Iraq in dealing with the temporary relocation of the Camp Ashraf residents, members of the terrorist MKO, to Camp Liberty, a temporary transit facility near Baghdad airport. Some two-thirds of the residents, or 2,000 people, were relocated to the transit camp but MKO refused to transfer the remaining residents, some 1300 people, on a variety of invented excuses some of which are natural to meet because of the regional and poor living conditions that have long impacted the local people’s lives.

It took only four days following the released roadmap to see a published article under the name of Dr. Gerson in which he slammed the UN for a pure humanitarian cause to end the stalemate in the relocation process. As MKO has repeatedly done, he questions impartiality and humanitarian intention of the UN concerning the issue. For two reasons, Dr. Gerson disputes that the UN effort is humanitarian because “effort comes at the point of a gun. It is aimed at the MEK residents of Camp Ashraf who have been understandably reluctant to move to Camp Liberty until the basic humanitarian needs of food, water, electricity, shelter and facilities for the disabled are met”.

Then, he claims that “If the UN commitment were ‘strictly humanitarian,’ it would never have supported the move of the residents from the Camp Ashraf to Camp Liberty. No purpose is served by such a move. For decades, the MEK lived peacefully at their home of Camp Ashraf, a small city that they built by themselves”.

Dr. Gerson seems to be uninformed of historically plain facts. MKO has never stated a willingness to leave Camp Ashraf known to be its ideological and military bastion allocated by Saddam. It is a legal demand by the Iraqi government and the local people, to whom the land belongs, to close the camp and return the lands to their real owners. For sure, occupiers are reluctant to return what they have seized. It is not a mere dispute over a simple matter of relocation from a camp to another; the problem is MKO’s reluctance to leave rather than the existing common shortages it claims. The ideal solution MKO appreciates is the one that disapproves any relocation from Ashraf.

The group is well aware of the fact that relocation from Ashraf means a permanent expulsion from Iraq sooner or later. But staying at the “small city that they built” even if seemingly in limbo means a permanent or decades long stay until they will be delisted from the State Department Foreign Terrorist Organization list since, as Dr. Gerson explicitly points out, “No country will be eager to take people who remain on that list. And indeed, no country has stepped forward despite the fact that some 300 residents have already been given refugee status by the UNHCR”. What is really bothering MKO is losing the lifelong opportunity of maintaining Camp Ashraf after a unanimous decisiveness for relocation of its members. And Dr. Gerson in his defense of a terrorist group has sold his principles; he tries to look sympathetic as well as promising because he is presently involved with other attorneys in representing MKO to be removed from the State Department List of FTO.

Rajavi’s Final Phase of Battle

Rajavi’s new staged battle is in fact directed at responsible international organizations

The UN Security Council is facing an angry backlash from Mojahedin Khalq Organization MKO/MEK following Martin Kobler’s official report and briefing situation on Iraq before the UN Security Council on July 19. In a statement addressed to the UN Security Council in June 21, Alejo Vidal-Quadras, chairing the MKO’s alias International Committee of In Search of Justice (ISJ), strongly denounced claims made by the UN envoy in Iraq in his briefing speech in regards to Camp Ashraf. Mr. Vidal-Quadras states that Martin Kobler’s report is filled with statements that have no basis in reality and have been made to please and corroborate the Iraqi Prime Minister Maliki and the Iraqi government’s actions.

“ISJ report to the UN based on abundant documentations and factual details clearly indicates the depth of the misrepresentations and distortion of facts in Mr Kobler’s report to the UN. This falsification of facts is the main pretext for continuation of the siege of the camp and possibly carrying out a third massacre in there. Mr Kobler’s seven month tenure and his report clearly indicate that he is not impartial nor he complies with his duty to protect the weakest part.”

However, the real shock comes at the conclusion part of Mr. Vidal-Quadras’ statement when he stresses dismissal of the UN’s ambassador to end part of the existing problem in the stalemate: “ISJ would like to reemphasize the need for appointment of an objective and competent personal envoy by the Secretary General to Ashraf and Liberty so that all issues could be addressed in a fair and unbiased manner.”

Mr. Vidal-Quadras’ statement actually set the launching pad for many other MKO’s fed bloggers to follow his line to attack Martin Kobler and question his impartiality in dealing with Ashraf residents and the issue of their relocation to Camp Liberty. A few tried to dig up his career and one of them, Rahman Karimi, in an article stated that Mr. Kobler was appointed the UN Secretary General Special Representative because he was affiliated to Germany’s Green Party best known for following a policy of appeasement towards the Iranian regime. Another one, Jamshid Peyman, warned Mr. Kobler of having his hands stained with residents’ blood and accusing him of being a stirrer.

There is no doubt that such attacks will follow in coming days, but a question might raise that were these flood of malign attacks a spontaneous act or had roots in an earlier cause? For MKO any phenomenon is the effect of a precedent cause. In his message of the first May addressed to residents of Ashraf and Liberty, Massoud Rajavi stated that “It does not mean that we expect action from this or that state and power or the United Nations or an international body. Rather, it is us with our struggle and our people’s brave children that accurately define the terms they utter, like human rights, refugees rights and international humanitarian rights.”

Rajavi had already corroborated that he never waited the fulfillment of any action by any international organization but acted under the enforced circumstances. Somewhere he clearly depicts a short illustration of fluctuations in MKO’s history and the necessity of acting under duress: “Once you were inside Iran in a political phase, … once you were at Kurdistan border lines, once you were in abroad and then you came to Iraq. Once you were in Camp Habib, once in Camp Homayun and once in Alavi Foundation and now you are in Ashraf. Then, the story continues and that is us who have to decide under any circumstances and how and where we can have more productive return out of the conditions.”

The truth is that the serious impediment at the present is not Mr. Kobler alone but all other international institutions engaged to solve the humanitarian crisis in Iraq. In the past months not only the UNAMI but also ICRC, UNHCR and even the US have been claimed to be engaged in a policy of appeasement and acting as mercenaries for Iranian regime as well as violating the reached and signed agreements between MKO and the Iraqi government. As a result, MKO’s press for a replacement for Mr. Kobler is the first taken step to be followed by similar bids of ousting other heads in cooperation unless one-sided demands of the group are met altogether.

Rajavi’s new staged battle since two years ago that underscores a “battle for freedom” is in fact directed at responsible international organizations with the UN at the top: they have to be either subject organizations submitting to irrational demands of MKO or counter attack the psychological warfare aimed to derogate their reputation. The truth pinpointed in Rajavi’s message is that he no more recognizes them let alone their constructive role and decisions concerning the relocation crisis. Rajavi’s started battle indicates his misinterpretation of a compromising solution involving an appreciation and respect for humanitarian causes. How they will counteract such unbearable reactions to stop turning a domestic humanitarian issue into an international controversy depends on their exercising a constant vigilance.

MKO Still Glorifies Violence and Militarism

Glorification of a military operation indicates violence is still boiling inside MKO

To many who have met with the large-scale struggle of Mojahedin Khalq Organization MKO/MEK MKO Still Glorifies Violence and Militarism to be removed from the US the State Department’s list of FTO, it is a great shock to see it taking a fierce pride in glorifying its past perpetrated terrorist deeds. Glorification of terrorism is tantamount to engaging in terrorism itself and hardly anybody expects a terrorist group insisting to have abandoned terrorism in favor of a liberal democracy, although there is no written or public record to verify the claim, publically eulogize a military offense.

On 25 July 1988, only days after Iran-Iraq governments accepted the UN Security Council Resolution 598 that called for a cease fire in the eight-year long war, MKO launched its major military invasion onto the Iranian borders. Supported by Iraqi army and its air cover, Rajavi dispatched his estimated 7000 forces National Liberation Army (NLA) to demonstrate his organization’s military potentiality in a four-day lasted operation, namely ”Operation Eternal Light”. In its unclassified 1992 report on MKO, the State Department refers to the operation as an explicit evidence of MKO’s armed struggle and close collaboration with Saddam’s regime.

“The group launched its most significant incursion in June and July 1988, when they coordinated an advance into Iran with Iraqi forces. During the same offensive, Iraqi units in other sectors of the front used chemical weapons against Iran. NLA units briefly seized the Iranian border towns of Mehran, Karand, and Islamabad-e Gharb. The Mojahedin claimed to have killed 40,000 Iranians, but other military observers said the, NLA “just got wiped out” when Iranian reinforcements arrived.”

The operation on which MKO had heavily invested turned to be a total military failure and a proven suicide operation that led nearly 1300 forces, according to the organization’s own report, to their sacrifice. In fact, MKO hurried to take advantage of a no-war no-peace situation created after the ceasefire in limbo, a golden opportunity for Rajavi to take his last chance totally disregarding the high cost it would impose. In fact, he was desperately in need of and search for an outlet out of an inevitable cul-de-sac rather than to accomplish a strategic necessity.

The consequence of MKO’s widespread terrorist operations of bombing and assassination inside Iran and its later out-of-the-border organized hit and run operations perpetrated in the last three decades as well as its broadly launched military operation like that of the Eternal Light was to be globally recognized as a terrorist group. However, the good part is that the history and the recorded facts can never be distorted. And MKO does not seem to have any interest in renouncing its spectacular military venture as it has been condoned by some Western countries when they made a sudden U-turn and decided to delist the group.

Under the Terrorism Act passed in 2006, glorification of terrorism is outlawed in the UK; it was overlooked when a British court ordered removal of MKO from the country’s list of terrorist groups in 2008. However, a state’s decision that meets political interests differs with a nation’s opinion that can easily judge by evident discrepancy between claims and facts. Commemorating the anniversary of a terrorist military offense like the operation Eternal Light is an evident example of the glorification of violence and death-seeking attitude still boiling inside MKO.

Never-Ending Excuses of MKO in Iraq

MKO backlashed against Daniel Fried’s briefing and conditioned relocation to realization of demands

In an angry reaction to the US Special Advisor on Camp Ashraf Daniel Fried’s briefing on July 6, MKO released a statement stressing that Ashraf residents resist relocating to transit center unless their requirements are realized and provided. In answer to Huffington Post’s question that if MEK’s demands were generally realistic, Mr. Fried said; “Some of the MEK demands are reasonable. For example, given the hot weather in Iraq, they’ve requested more air conditioners. The Iraqi Government has agreed to provide them, that is agreed to allow a special shipment of air conditioners from Camp Ashraf to Camp Liberty, and this is being arranged as we speak. Some of the other demands strike me as not central – for instance, private cars. Well, that’s not an issue critical to basic humanitarian needs.”

Since the halt of relocation, MKO has proved its unusual skill in inventing endless excuses. Except a few of them that the Iraqi government has already agreed their transfer to transit camp, other demands are not realistic since they are of no use in a temporary camp. For instance, “transfer of all the power generators that are currently in Camp Ashraf, transfer of 50 passenger cars, 25 trucks and five forklifts, permission for construction activities inside the camp” are not reasonable demands if you compare the capacity and moving area of Camp Ashraf with that of the temporary transit center, an area measuring less than half a square kilometer.

MKO demands immediate negotiations to sell the immovable assets and properties in Ashraf with partial payments in advance. That is impossible and unreasonable until Ashraf is completely vacated. Besides, to arrive at a solution of properties, it requires interference and supervision of the UN and other concerned international bodies as well as representatives from among the Iraqi people. Not all the claimed properties and assets have a function of legal and civil purpose and many of the vehicles, instruments and machinery allocated to the group by the ousted dictator belong to Iraqi army and people living in the vicinity. In fact, the group brought nothing when it came to Iraq and all it claims to possess is out of the bundles of dollars Saddam allocated to it from the pocket of the poor Iraqi people when they needed the sums more than any other time.

MKO Is a Disgrace to the Media Warfare

Unethical manner of MKO characterizes it as an utter disgrace to media warfare

No doubt, of the most complex phenomenon in the modern world is manipulation of the media by terrorist groups because of serious inconsistency in word and action. Many of them manipulate a widespread network of the media and the sophisticated communication technology to dispense illusory senses of peace and freedom defined from their own point of view. Of course the ones developing a realistic understanding that any type of violent struggle is doomed to failure and have preferred a pro-democratic tactic of contention have mainly drawn their battle into the mass media and often participate in debates allowing the public to decide. In contrast, those in a pro-democratic disguise with the very same non-democratic infrastructures, based on their natural potentiality, misuse the media and modern means for censure, persuasion, distortion, brainwashing and mind-control activities against their insiders and sympathizers.

A group’s fitness to lead an opposition against any state is under question when it lacks the needed public legitimacy or fails to keep its close contact with the people for whom it claims to be on the rise. The most appropriate means in the today’s world is the media which turns into a problem itself when monopolized by a ruling government. Once Mojahedin Khalq Organization MKO/MEK, a group blacklisted on the State Department as FTO, claimed that the government-controlled media in Iran deprived it of dissemination of its political views. It still accuses Iranian regime of censuring the group in domestic media and disallowing a just analysis and justification of its legitimacy that stems from political and religious boundary delineation. It is nothing more than a fallacious claim since MKO has always had access to a rich, broad variety of private and non-private run media of its own. But the existing major problem is that the group never believes in dialogue but monologue.

Since conducting its antagonistic struggle under a pro-democratic disguise in European countries, MKO has heavily invested on the crucial role of the media to spread its play in the formation of public opinion and thought through talking in monologue. MKO has its own private media that broadcasts its own words and views on a variety of political, regional, religious and any intended objectives. Any focused debate is aimed to contribute to the corroboration of already advertised views. Of course, it does not mean that it has entirely cut interaction with other media but it is of a manipulative nature. When it plots to draw public attention to a particular event, draw supports, advertise certain stances congruent with its line of struggle and, in general, any venture to demonize its adversaries it falls in the context of taking advantage of the outside media.

But one thing is for certain that it escapes interview or open debate with other media, opposition or anybody that aims to challenge the organization and question its legitimacy. That is because any interview or debate raises another problem frequently encountered in considering its legitimacy. Thus, exploited beyond their main purpose, the outside media are practically secondary instruments to fulfill MKO’s ambitions. Besides their utilization to augment psychological warfare and propaganda blitz, these media are turned into the means of diffusing ideological teachings directly and indirectly.

Accuracy of news and reports released by MKO media is under question for those acquainted with MKO’s hypocrisy as it is skilled at seizing and creating opportunities to mislead the media and the public opinion. Concerning the created stalemate in Iraq for instance, one of its most effective tools to impress the public opinion is the systematic creation of hardship and suffering for the relocated insiders and making a martyr of them. Everyday problems and shortages of living in a temporary camp become serious and unsolvable problems of mankind needing a universal, unanimous decisiveness to solve.

While intentionally creating or precipitating a false crisis of food, water and medicine for the insiders, it then shifts the blame for the suffering of them from its own cultic and inhuman policies to the Iraqi Government that is doing its best, under the auspices of the UN representatives, for the reasonable and adequate wellbeing of the insiders. As recently, MKO blames by the Iraqi government for deaths of Ashraf and Liberty residents and directly relates them to lack of access to timely and effective medical treatment. No more explanation is provided, but those reading between the lines of this news released by MKO well recognize that they are needed victims to feed the group’s propaganda machine for any purpose but human. Besides, unethical manner of calumniating any opponent in the context of propaganda warfare characterizes MKO as an utter disgrace to media.

Ethics Coming to Matter for MKO!

Maryam Rajavi accuses the State Department of unethical behavior for not delisting MKO

In a widespread struggle to be removed from the blacklist, Maryam Rajavi in her speech made on June 25 in objection to MKO’s terrorist tag stated: “Which law and which ethical and humanitarian Maryam Rajavi accuses the State Department of unethical behavior for not delisting MKO principle, would allow the State Department to defer the removal of the PMOI until Camp Ashraf is evacuated?” Has she ever been asked for what ethical and humanitarian cause did the agents of her organization sent many people to their death by planted bombs? And nothing can justify the recorded atrocities of MKO and clean its leaders’ hands of the innocent bloods even if removed from any list.

To dig up truth about the terrorist cult of Mojahedin Khalq Organization MKO/MEK, it is just anniversary of another bloody, flagrant terrorist perpetration. As disclosed in the US State Department’s Report in 1992, the group is unquestionably responsible for one of the most heinous terrorist operations in its armed warfare against Iranian regime. The report states:

“The Mojahedin initiated a wave of bombings and assassinations against the Khomeini regime that reverberates today. The most spectacular attack occurred June 28, 1981, when two bombs tipped apart the headquarters of the Islamic Republic Party (IRP, the party of the clerics), killing 74 members of the regime’s top leadership, including the URP’s leader, Ayatollah Beheshti,(14) ministers, and 27 Majles deputies.

In a row of self-suicide operations and blasts, Rajavi’s agents sent many cleric and political personalities to their death. The most spectacular operations occurred on June 28, 1981, when two bombs ripped apart the headquarters of the Islamic Republic Party killing 74 dignitaries of the regime including the party’s leader, Ayatollah Beheshti,14 ministers, and 27 Members of Parliament. Majority of dissident groups condemned such bloody, unethical means of opposition and the operation highlighted the terrorist potentiality of MKO as global threat to be later included on the US terrorist list.

MKO, A Terrorism Problem to Be Confronted

MKO has to be confronted as a terrorist group that is already turning into a global problem

The common point concerning the terrorist groups on the State Department’s blacklist is that MKO, A Terrorism Problem to Be Confronted majority of them, at least in the coverage of the media, have been downgrading from a major, serious threat as already advertised to insignificant threats or have totally changed their violent means of struggle. There are even cases in which the terrorist perpetrators are referred to in media coverage as “mass killers” or “gunmen”. But there are ones amongst them with inbred violence and have adopted terrorism as a working instrument to achieve their claimed political objectives.

Mojahedin Khalq Organization (aka. MKO, MEK, PMOI, NCRI, NLA, MISA), for instance, has been put on the list from its very initiating in 1997, has a four decade-long history of violence. In fact, from an ideological point of view, violence has been an innately distinguished feature of MKO from the beginning of its formation and that, the key solution to accomplish organizational and ideological achievements has been through practice of violence. That is an undeniable fact and there are irrefutable evidences to be consulted.

Even the European Union that removed it from its list of terror first and Americans who have kept it on the list are still, even with more emphasis, stressing on unrevealed aspects of its terrorist nature. But what distinguishes MKO as a terrorist-oriented organization with others on the list is that its change of position and stances depends on the circumstances and political fluctuations that enable it to command wide-ranging respect and support even from those who were in opposite fronts. Of course, it has provided the appropriate background and framework for forged non-violent and pro-democratic activities through its Paris based NCRI led by Maryam Rajavi, a suitable dummy appointed by her husband to lead the pseudo-democratic wing of a whole structure he himself leads. Taking advantage of civil liberties the democracies provide, she has freedom for maneuvering just in the heart of the arena of democracies to advertise undemocratic fancies.

While the husband Massoud Rajavi, living in hideout whose whereabouts is unknown, delivers messages addressed to veterans and encourages them to be on full alert to outface any probable forceful reaction from the Iraqi forces instead of continuation of a peaceful cooperation, the wife holds extravagant rallies for a pseudo-democratic demonstration mainly aimed at demonizing the adversaries. In his instructions given to residents in Camp Ashraf and Liberty for instance, through his message delivered on May 23, Rajavi repeatedly dares the devoted warriors to be determined in eliciting a violent reaction to repel any resolution inconsistent with group’s demands: “Then, do not be scared of the battle you have to confront, strike. Strike and go forward with confidence. … I want others to know, friends and foes, that today, the power of one thousand Mojahed is beyond that of the regime’s nuclear power they have gathered here in Iraq to negotiate about.“ These type of words totally lacks the needed sincerity to conclude that a terrorist group is truthfully inclined to denounce and decry a mentality of violence.

Although physically claimed to be disarmed, MKO can never denounce its terrorist mentality but undergo a change of tactics. And the societies among whom these mentally programmed terrorists live are more at risk since democratic systems inadvertently provide greater opportunities for these terrorists and create permissive environments in which their networks can operate more easily. More disappointing, the international community and those committed to combat terrorism are dragging their feet to be decisive about a terrorist group that is already turning into a global problem.
