Iraq has decided to shut down the terrorist Mojahedin Khalq Organization (MKO/PMOI) Ashraf Camp as soon as possible, expel the MKO members from Iraq and close their file forever, said a senior Iraqi official. Political advisor of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI), Muhsin Al-Hakim exclusively told IRNA that Baghdad considered the MKO as a terrorist group.
The Iraqi government will take over security responsibility for Iranian opposition Camp Ashraf on Jan. 1 when the U.S.-Iraqi security pact comes into force, a U.S. embassy statement said on Monday..It said that the U.S. troops”will continue to assist the Government of Iraq in carrying out its assurances of humane treatment of the residents of Camp Ashraf.”
Iraq said on Wednesday it wants thousands of Iranian opposition exiles[PMOI/MKO/MEK] at a camp north of Baghdad to leave the country, although it does not plan to expel them by force. ..Baghdad and Washington both consider the exiles to be a terrorist group. .”The Iraqi government will deal with the people in this camp in a humane way and according to internationally adopted standards, the Iraqi constitution and Iraqi laws,”Iraqi government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said in a statement.
Several former members of the outlawed terrorist Mojahedin Khalq Organization (MKO/PMOI/MEK) have accused the United States of hampering efforts to close the notorious Ashraf Camp in Iraq. ..Most of the Ashraf Camp residents are said to be willing to quit but are under pressure and torture not to do so. ..Sameti and other members of the Nejat Association are in London to lobby for their release. They have met members of the British House of Commons, government officials and human rights activists to raise their awareness about the misery in Ashraf Camp.
The Mujahedin khalq Organization aka PMOI is the most isolated force among the Iranian political forces. It is designated as a terrorist organization by the US and the European Union. MEK’s behavior toward its political dissidents is bloody. It’s internal structure is dangerously similar to that of “Godess and Slaves”. The main characteristic of MKO is achieving the political power by any mean..Although the MEK has no common point with the other political forces of the country, the indifference regarding the fate of Ashraf residents will end with a disaster.

The faith of this State Department-listed terrorist organization of Mujahedin Khalq aka PMOI has been unclear. Hated by Iraqis for its involvement in Saddam’s crimes against the Iraqi people, the Baghdad government wants to expel the Mujahedin group. But no country is willing to take them..The European governments have little interest in taking in 3,000 battle-hardened militants of MKO/MEK, fearing that they will use Europe as a base to plan and execute further terrorist attacks ..Rather than debating where to expel the Mujahedin (MKO) terrorists, help should be provided to the rank and file to break with the cult and make free choices about their future. It’s the only humanitarian solution to this dilemma
It would be a good thing if the EU advocates of terrorist and cultist MKO made a thorough study of group’s atrocities or contacted the ex-members before making a fuss to be included on the list next to terrorists. If they believe that those in Ashraf have to be treated according to the International Law, the least they can do is to provide for the international humanitarian organizations to freely visit Camp Ashraf and the residents individually. Then it will be much easier to stay with the terrorists or avoid them.
In respect to the issue of handling over the control of Ashraf to Iraqi government and its decision to expel its residents from the country, it has to be pointed out that it is a matter of internal affair adopted according to the Council of Ministers’ decision…humanitarian groups and committees are really concerned about Ashraf residents, the best they can do is a close cooperation with the Iraqi government so a decisive and secure decision can be taken
The PMOI /MKO is claiming that the Ashraf Base is its strategic vessel (armed struggle) which is based on the National Liberation Army (NLA). This is true, but prior to that the base is the organization’s ideological vessel (or the mental methodology). .. this base is providing a good opportunity for the organization regarding the mental methods to control the minds of the followers since the connection of the individuals with the outside world is totally cut off. Such facility for a great number of people would certainly not be found anywhere in the world.
