The State Department Office of the Coordinator for Counterterrorism on April 30 released the List of designated terrorist organisations. Once again Mojahedin Khalq organisation (MKO, MEK, aka the National Council of Resistance, NCR, NCRI) continues to occupy the status it has been designated since 1997.

Of the diplomatic controversies that have clouded French-Iranian relations, which Nicolas Sarkozy has on his political agenda to improve, was the issue of MKO. Darius Kadivar, a freelance journalist, in an article released in persianmirror makes a short reference to the issue and is of the opinion that the days of MKO in France may well be counted with Sarkozy who is anti-communist.

The MKO were also supported by several western countries while launching their terrorist attacks inside and outside of Iran. “These double standards are at odds with the UN resolutions. This is what we understand. Iraq is suffering a vicious cycle. There are foreign forces who have occupied Iraq, and justify their presence on the pretext of the ‘war on terror’ and terrorists who claim they are fighting occupiers …Each is justified by the other.The only solution is to end occupation, and this means a well-planned strategy.

MKO, which earlier denied Iran’s ability to have even the nuclear technology, has been forced now to admit the realities they don’t like.MKO leaders have always been criticized for mixing their so-called political analyses with their dreams and feeding them to their restricted forces.
