What should Canada expect after the potential move of the MEK to its territory?

Concerns over potential relocation of the MEK members to Canada has been on the rise. Regardless of the group’s violent acts against Iranian people, regarding the previous experiences of France, Iraq and Albania in hosting the group, Canada should be aware of the problems it will face with.
in 1986 France’s Prime Minister Jacques Chirac evicted the MEK out of France. Massoud Rajavi and approximately five to ten thousand MEK members were received by the Iraqi government. Rajavi moved to Iraq –which was then fighting Iran– and set up a base on the Iranian border.

As Saddam’s private army, the MEK collaborated with former Iraqi dictator for spying and launching cross border operations against Iran and then for suppressing Iraqi Shiites and Kurds’ uprisings. After the collapse of Saddam Hussein, the newly established Iraqi government as well as the Iraqi nation did not want the Cult of Rajavi in their soil. The group had occupied the land, named Camp Ashraf, which originally belonged to Iraqi farmers of Diyala province.

Iraqi authorities made efforts to convince the MEK leaders to leave their territory peacefully, but they clashed with Iraqi security forces who wanted to build a guard post inside Camp Ashraf. The result was violence. Massoud Rajavi ordered the unarmed MEK members to resist Iraqi soldiers not allowing them inside the camp. Nouri al-Maliki, the then prime minister of Iraq – whose ambassador to the US called the group “nothing more than a cult” – insisted it leave the country.

Last month, the same scene was repeated in Albania. The Albanian state Police tried to enter the group’s camp in Manez named Ashraf 3, residents of the camp were ordered not to allow the Police to touch their computers –their main tools to fight the Iranian government. The Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, in an interview for German network Der Spiegel, said that the Mujahideen cannot use Albania to fight against Iranian government. Rama said that currently Albania is being “used as a trench in a war that is not ours,” warning that if the MEK insists on fighting Iran, “they must leave Albania.”

As a country that still hosts the MEK’s main headquarters in the suburb of Paris, Auver Sur d’Oise, France has witnessed the most violent scenes from the MEK members and sympathizers. In June 2003, after the group’s base was raided by the French Police and Maryam Rajavi was arrested under the order of Frech judiciary, the group followers were ordered to commit self-immolations to protest the arrest of their she-guru. Several MEK members set themselves on fire in 6 European cities. Two women died of self-immolations.

The Iranian Canadian Congress is truly concerned about the probable risks that the Canadian might encounter in case of the MEK’s immigration to Canada. “The MEK organization’s history and actions have raised significant alarm within the community”, the ICC’s Vice President, Mona Ghassemi wrote in a letter to Canadian Immigration Minister.

Open letter to Minister of Immigration Concerns Regarding Potential Immigration of MEK Members to Canada

Vice President of Iranian Canadian Congress, Mona Ghassemi has sent a letter to The Honourable Marc Miller regarding Concerns of Potential Immigration of MEK Members to Canada.
Dear Minister Miller,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing on behalf of the Iranian Canadian Congress to express our deep concern over recent Iranian media reports suggesting that the leaders of the People’s Mojahedin Khalq (MEK) have made plans to transfer their headquarters to Canada. We acknowledge that the accuracy of this news remains uncertain, and we trust in the competence of Canadian authorities in conducting the necessary investigations.

The MEK organization’s history and actions have raised significant alarm within the community, considering their previous inclusion on Canada’s terrorist list until 2012. The potential immigration of individuals associated with such an organization to Canada is worrying not only for Iranian Canadians, but also for the broader Canadian community.

Our organization greatly values the efforts made by the Government of Canada to uphold the principles of safety, security, and human rights. We kindly urge you to address this matter promptly by conducting a thorough investigation into the validity of the media reports. Furthermore, we request that you reassure the Iranian Canadian community and the broader Canadian public, by committing not to provide a safe haven for individuals or groups with a history of terrorist acts. We firmly believe in the dedication of Canadian authorities to meticulously assess immigration files and to ensure that individuals entering our country do not pose a threat to the safety and well-being of our society.

We are confident that your office will handle this matter with the utmost diligence and care. We are looking forward to hearing from you. We remain committed to supporting the values and principles that Canada represents.

Sincerely,
Mona Ghassemi
Vice President
Iranian Canadian Congress

Albania cuts off anti-Iran MKO terrorist group’s internet access

The Albanian government has cut off access to internet at the camp of the Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO) near the capital Tirana, attempting to tighten the noose around the anti-Iran terrorist group.

It was the latest move by Albania to restrict the terrorist and cyber activities the MKO devises at the Ashraf-3 camp in the northwestern region of Tirana, Tasnim news agency reported on Saturday.

Back in June, Albanian police raided the camp on the grounds that the MKO was involved in “terror and cyber attacks” against foreign institutions.

Police in Albania have raided a camp home to the anti-Iran terrorist cult of the Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO).

Authorities seized 150 computer devices linked to terrorist activities. At least one person was killed and dozens of others were injured during the clashes at the camp.

In early July, Iran gained access to a batch of electronic devices and storage equipment confiscated during the search operation conducted by Albanian police.

Earlier in August, Albanian police reportedly took control of the Ashraf-3 camp and imposed a strict curfew over the entire area.

The MKO has carried out numerous terrorist attacks against Iranian civilians and government officials since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979. Out of the nearly 17,000 Iranians killed in terrorist attacks over the past four decades, about 12,000 have fallen victim to the MKO’s acts of terror.

The European Union, Canada, the United States and Japan had previously listed the MKO as a “terrorist organization.”

In 2012, the group was taken off the US list of terrorist organizations. The EU followed suit, removing the group from its list of terrorist organizations.

American News Site Speaks of MEK-Israel Alliance for Terror Acts in Iran

On the 70th anniversary of the US-run coup against the Iranian democratic leader, Mohammad Mosaddeq, Daily Kos pointed out the part of the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK/ MKO) as the West’s operative terror arm inside Iran.

The author of the article, Meteor Blades investigates the West’s attitude towards Iran as a rich country in oil and other resources. According to the article, there is bipartisan consensus in the heights of U.S. foreign policy circles for curtailing Iran, particularly what is usually labeled its “nuclear ambitions.”

The hostile approach of the West has kept on until now. Blades criticizes the US warmongers: “While conventional war, the bomb-bomb-bomb Iran approach, has been so far avoided because that still remains a last resort of the bipartisan consensus, other attacks on Iran have continued, including by means of Stuxnet, the cyber-weapon built by the National Security Agency together with CIA and Israeli intelligence and used to temporarily cripple the uranium enrichment operations in Natanz, Iran.”

The MEK is a tool in this aggressive approach against Iran. The author states just one of the services that the terrorist Cult of Rajavi has offered the enemies of the Iranian nation: “There are, in addition, assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientists by the Iranian terrorist organization Mojahedin-e-Khalq assisted with funding and training assistance of America’s ally Israel.”

People inside the MEK camp face HR abuses regularly, former member

Mostafa Beheshti , former member of the Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organization, reveals on Vox News Albania, that men and women inside the camp face human rights abuses regularly, including rape.

In an interview, published by VOX News Albania, a former member of the MEK, Mustafa Beheshti, revealed what happened inside the Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organisation (MKO) camp located in Manza, Durrës.

Mostafa Beheshti, according to the news website, broke down in tears as he described the agony he experienced at the camp which he escaped after 18 years of suffering. The former member, who is 40 years old, said he was only allowed to leave after he threatened to burn himself alive.

It was also reported that Mostafa Beheshti underscored that the MKO camp was filled with well-trained terrorists and are very dangerous. The former member stated “The oldest are soldiers and they know a lot of things. Many of them lived in America and were IT engineers. Even now there are people in America working for them. They have a lot of money.”

Mostafa Beheshti then went on to highlight that people in the camp had no freedom and that their basic human rights were violated. For example, he explained that his late brother had not seen his son or family for 22 years before he died. He said “After 22 years, I want to see my family. We can’t go there, our families can’t come here.”

Moreover, Mostafa Beheshtii stressed that “there are many women and men who are raped every day there.”

The former member, who currently lives in Tirana, also explained that “we substantiated every fact there and often they accused us that you are not Mujahid.” As for their day-to-day life,  Beheshti said “If you talked to a girl or joked with her, they would consider you immoral and lecture you.”

Iran brings ‘huge’ case against over 100 MKO terrorists

Iran’s top human rights official says the Islamic Republic has brought a “huge” case against more than a hundred members of the terrorist cult Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO), which has murdered tens of thousands of Iranian citizens.

In an interview with ISNA news agency published on Saturday, Kazem Gharibabadi, secretary of Iran’s High Council for Human Rights, emphasized that Iran wants to rid the world of terrorism and terror outfits.

He explained that a “huge” case has been brought against 107 high-profile members of the MKO, and their indictment has been referred to a court in Iran. A special branch has also been formed to deal with the matter, and the defendants have been notified via email, he said.

“The court will soon start its work in accordance with the provisions of the criminal procedure,” he said.

Gharibabadi reiterated that the Islamic Republic is determined to employ all available tools to counter terrorists, especially the MKO terrorist group.

‘MKO terrorists roaming freely in West’

He also lamented the fact that the members of the MKO are freely wandering around in some Western countries despite having murdered numerous innocent Iranian nationals.

“In parallel with the legal, judicial and political pressures that the Islamic Republic of Iran has exerted on some countries housing MKO members, those states have also independently come to the conclusion that the MKO is really a terrorist group. They are placing limitations on them, and we welcome the restrictive measures against the MKO terrorists,” Gharibabadi noted.

Why the raid?

Albanian police authorities have reportedly taken control of the Ashraf-3 camp housing anti-Iran MKO terrorists, imposing strict restrictions on the entire area.
The top Iranian rights official also vowed that Tehran will not be content with the current level of actions against the MKO, adding that their host countries must either expel or prosecute them.

On June 20, Albanian police forces entered the MKO camp, known as Ashraf-3, near Tirana due to its engagement in “terror and cyberattacks” against foreign institutions. Authorities seized 150 computer devices linked to terrorist activities.

At least one person was killed and dozens of others were injured during the clashes at the camp. More than a week later, the police entered the camp again and security forces were deployed at the entrance to the camp to control all vehicles leaving the site.

The Foreign Ministry summoned the ambassador over the Italian parliament’s decision to host the ringleader of the MKO terrorist cult.

Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama later said the MKO must leave the country if it wants to use Albanian soil to fight against Iran, adding that his country has no intention of being at war with Iran and “does not accept anyone who has abused our hospitality.”

The European Union, Canada, the United States and Japan had previously listed the MKO as a “terrorist organization.”

In 2012, the group was taken off the US list of terrorist organizations. The EU followed suit, removing the group from its list of terrorist organizations.

MKO Terrorists Planning Relocation to Canada

The leaders of the terrorist Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO) are making arrangements to relocate their members from Albania to Canada.
The MKO ringleaders have reportedly decided to relocate their base to Canada following the Albanian government’s intense pressures and after the failure of their negotiations with the Paris government over relocation to France.

An informed security source told Tasnim that the MKO terrorists have come up with the relocation plan after the government of Albania and its counter-terrorism court imposed restrictions on the terrorist group following the discovery of incriminating evidence from their Ashraf-3 camp near Manze, a small hill town 30 kilometers west of Albania’s capital Tirana.

“The MKO heads are making preparations for the gradual pullout of their members (from Albania),” the source said.

The source noted that the MKO terrorists have failed to obtain France’s consent for the relocation of a number of their elements to a camp in Auvers-sur-Oise on the northwestern outskirts of Paris.

The MKO terrorists have employed their lobbies in the Canadian government, the source noted, adding that arrangements have been made to relocate the MKO elements with temporary Canadian passports or temporary resident permits in Canada in the first step.

The MKO terrorists have reportedly come to the decision after realizing that their status quo in Albania is similar to what they experienced in Iraq.

Last week, the government of Albania banned Maryam Rajavi, the ringleader of the terrorist MKO group, from entering the country.

Sources said Albania’s counter-terrorism court has issued the ban after reviewing evidence that shows the group has run terrorist activities in Iran.

Rajavi fled from Albania to France in late June, after Albanian police forces raided the camp hosting the MKO due to its engagement in “terror and cyber-attacks” against foreign institutions.

They seized 150 computer devices linked to terrorist activities.

At least one MKO terrorist was killed and dozens of others were injured during the clashes at the camp.

MKO members spent many years in Iraq, where they were hosted and armed by the former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. They sided with Saddam during the 1980-88 imposed war against Iran and then helped him quell domestic uprisings in various parts of the Arab country.

The hated group is responsible for killing thousands of Iranian civilians and officials after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

More than 17,000 Iranians, many of them civilians, have been killed at the hands of the MKO in different acts of terrorism including bombings in public places, and targeted killings.

Bijar Rahimi
Former members of the MEK

Testimonies of Bijar Rahimi, the most recent defector of the MEK cult

Bijar Rahimi is the most recently defected member of the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK). He escaped the MEK’s isolated camp near Tirana, two weeks ago. He surrendered himself to the Albanian Police immediately after he left the MEK’s headquarters, Ashraf 3.

Bijar Rahimi joined the Association for the Support of Iranians Living in Albania (ASILA) after his defection. His brother Sarfaraz Rahimi, also defector of the MEK and his Albanian wife Erisa have been active members of ASILA since its foundation.

After his defection from the Cult of Rajavi, Bijar attended a conference titled “Voice of Mothers”, held by ASILA at Hotel Doro City, Tirana. He was one of the main speakers of the event. The audience were impressed by his heart-breaking memoirs of living in the MEK cult-like atmosphere.

Bijar Rahimi considers family as the main reason for his defection. “In the MEK, thinking of your family is forbidden,” he says. “If you think of your family you have to confess it in the daily self-criticism meetings.”

When the MEK was in Iraq, Sarfaraz and Bijar’s little brother went to Camp Ashraf, Iraq and asked for visiting him. The group leaders did not allow Bijar to meet his brother. “I could hear my brother calling my name, but I was not allowed to go and hug him.”

During the 21 years of imprisonment in Massoud Rajavi’s cult of personality, Bijar never could contact his family. “My mother, my father and two of my older brothers died in those years and I never forgive myself for my absence during their last days of life,” Bijar says with tears in his eyes.

The tragic story kept on when the MEK was transferred to Albania and Bijar’s brother, Sarfaraz, could manage to leave the group and build a normal life in Albania. “My brother left the group, got married to Erisa but the MEK leaders did not allow me to attend their wedding party while they were only a few kilometers away.”

He asked the group leaders to let him visit his brother but each time his request was declined. Today, he lives with his brother and his little family. He can hug his nephew, Ermolindo. “In the MEK the Internet and smart phones were forbidden,” he says with a smile on his face. “I do not know how to use a smart phone, my six-year-old nephew is teaching me!”

Radio Free Europe on MEK Camp ashraf3
Mujahedin Khalq as an Opposition Group

The double face of the MEK: between a moderate opposition party and a terrorist organization

While presenting itself as a moderate opposition force in the eyes of Western public opinion, the MEK continues to perpetrate terrorist actions in Iran for the overthrow of the Islamic Republic, as evidenced by their own official website, where the attacks are described as heroic acts.

In one of our previous articles, we summarized the history of the Mojahedin-e-Khalq, a political organization whose declared aim is the overthrow of the Islamic Republic of Iran, known by the acronym of MEK or PMOI (from the English People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran). As we underlined in that article, in 1997, the United States included the MEK in the list of terrorist organizations, due to their modus operandi which actually closely resembled that of a terrorist organization that uses attacks to achieve its goals.

However, in 2012, the United States decided to start using the organization for its own purposes of destabilizing the Islamic Republic of Iran and, taking advantage of the military occupation of Iraq, a country where many MEK militants were located, entered into tacit agreements with them. Just in September 2012, Washington officially eliminated the name of the MEK from the list of terrorist organizations, with the same leadership of the organization officially acknowledging its past mistakes, declaring that it would later act solely as a political force in opposition to the Republic Islamic, renouncing the path of attacks.

This operation has had highly positive implications both for the United States and for the MEK itself. The Washington government, in fact, was able to support Mojahedin-e-Khalq openly in an anti-Iranian function, without having to worry too much about public opinion, indeed there are not a few exponents of the most recent administrations who have expressed their support in favour of the MEK in public occasions. For its part, the organization has cleaned up its image internationally, presenting itself as a legitimate force of moderate opposition to the Iranian government.

The MEK has tried in every possible way to attract the support of Western progressive political groups, which do not look kindly on a government like that of the Islamic Republic of Iran, by relying on media propaganda that exploits the pretext of human rights and the condition of women to stir up anti-Iranian sentiment in public opinion. For this reason, the official political program of the MEK presents points such as the establishment of a democratic republic, religious freedom, gender equality in every sphere of society, the legalization of alcoholic beverages, freedom of speech, association and expression, the right to choose whether or not to wear hijab, all arguments that can find general agreement among Western public opinion. Furthermore, the MEK is also proposing a close alliance of Iran with Western countries and the recognition of the State of Israel, which according to many sources, would support the organization militarily.

This facade of image-cleansing, however, hides a much darker reality, one that sees the MEK continue to carry out terrorist operations in Iran, causing serious damage and casualties both military and civilians in order to achieve its political goals. This dark face of the MEK is clearly kept silent in front of the Western public, to the point that the official website of the organization ( news.mojahedin.org ) does not report news about the terrorist attacks, except in its own version in the Persian language . While in the foreign language versions the MEK presents itself as an opposition political party with a moderate outlook, in Persian all this turns into an extremist raving.

In the Persian language version, the term “insurrection centres” (in Persian: Kanounhaye Shoureshi) frequently appears, which are nothing more than terrorist cells operating in Iran carrying out attacks in public places. These operations, which continuously affect the Iranian military and civilian population, are described as acts of heroism by MEK militants, but are then kept silent in front of the Western public, which certainly could not accept the support of their governments towards a terrorist group who brags about their bomb attacks.

For example, in July of this year the MEK carried out 23 terrorist operations to celebrate 35 years of what the organization calls Operation Forough Javidan (or “Eternal Light”), an attempted invasion of Iranian Kurdistan in course of war events between Iran and Iraq. On that operation, the MEK was defeated, suffering numerous losses, which in the language of the organization are called martyrs. As part of this wave of terrorist attacks, the MEK boasts, for example, of blowing up the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps barracks in Ravansar, the headquarters of the national news agency IRNA in Qazvin and numerous other public buildings across the country, as well as setting fire to images of Iranian revolutionary leaders.

Analysing the MEK website in Persian, there are really numerous episodes of this type that can be found in the year 2023 alone (year 1402 of the Persian calendar). Terrorist attacks are often organized on the occasion of anniversaries considered important in the history of the MEK, such as the aforementioned Operation Forough Javidan, or the establishment of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, an organization and political coalition founded on July 20, 1981 and strictly linked to the MEK. Also, on the occasion of this anniversary, in fact, there were terrorist attacks against the garrisons of the Revolution Guards and other episodes of violence throughout the country.

Browsing the official website of the MEK, it can also be seen that these terrorist attacks are not isolated episodes, as there are several of them every month, and they affect every area of ??the country. The main targets of these operations are headquarters of the Revolution Guards and other armed forces or of the Judiciary, and are described in pompous tones in an attempt to glorify the work of the terrorists, adorned with the title of “heroes”, all accompanied by celebratory videos disseminated through the organization’s Telegram channel. An image therefore very different from the one that is sold to Western public opinion, and of which we want to spread awareness through this article, so that don’t fall into the trap of supporting a terrorist organization like the MEK just yet.
