MEK shocked by diplomats visits to Liberty

According to AP, a group of international delegations and diplomats to Baghdad visited camp Liberty today and disscussed possibilities of helping individual MEK members to settle in countries out of Iraq. MEK shocked by diplomats visits to Liberty

According to the report, visitors had a general positive view of Iraq`s efforts to help UN moving the unwanted group out. "Foreign diplomats who visited the dusty complex of former U.S housing containers described the conditions as acceptable. Some said the conditions there looked good compared to other refugee camps."

Pakistani diplomat Saif Khwaja said, “The people who are living here are not from Iraq, and the Iraqi government is bearing the burden of these people.”

On the otherside, MEK was shocked of the visit and has called it a propaganda show. It expressed its dissatisfaction by adding that there was no enough time to discuss the issues with diplomats.

It seems that dissatisfaction of MEK is a result of loosing its safe heaven in Ashraf, where all the ideological and terrorist trainings could be secretly provided. Out of Ashraf and in a more free location, controlling its members is harder. As at least 4 men has escaped Mek`s authority in Camp Liberty.

Ashraf Camp to be evacuated of MKO by end of this month

Police sources said today that the anti-Iranian Ashraf Camp shall be fully evacuated by the end of this month. Ashraf Camp to be evacuated of MKO by end of this month

The source told Aswat al-Iraq that 2400 members of the camp were moved to Freedom Camp near Baghdad airport in six groups.

There are 800 members remaining who will be moved in two batches; the first will comprise of 600 members and the second 200.

The Camp shall be fully closed by the end of this month, the sources confirmed.

It was intended for the camp to be the headquarters of Dijla Operations Command, which includes Diala and Kirkuk military operations, due to the site’s location.

Iraq agreed with the United Nations to evacuate Ashraf Camp, Diala, 57 km northeast of the capital, Baghdad, and move its anti-Iranian members to an alternate camp near Baghdad before moving to another haven.

Ashraf Camp is the military camp of anti-Iranian Mujahidi Khalq (The People), which was regarded by the United States, Iraq and Iran as a terrorist organization, unlike the European Union which lifted it is name from terrorist organizations in 2009.

The members of the organization lack any legal position in Iraq, but the Iraqi government pledged to close it by the end of 2011.

Night vision goggles and military equipment inside MKO deportee’s bags

A security source closely related to the terrorist MEK camp said, that the security forces, which oversaw the deportation of the first group of the remaining residents of Camp Ashraf, have found Night vision goggles and military equipment inside MKO deportee's bags materials used for military purposes inside MEK women’s bags and clothes.

The source said that many shields, shoes and uniforms have been found in these bags, and added that 3 night vision goggles hidden in women’s clothing have been found.

The source said that the number of deportees today [August 29, 2012] is 400 people out of 1,200 people, and the inspection process so far is still ongoing since nine o’clock in the morning.

The terrorist organization had participated in the majority of the repression of the 1991 uprising. It also has a very close hand in hundreds of terrorist operations that took place in many areas .

MEK members clash with police in Ashraf

Reports say there have been clashes in Camp Ashraf as Iraqi police attempted to inspect the belongings of the sixth batch of terrorist Mujahedin-e Khalq group.

According to a report published by Habilian Association website, a well-informed source told MEK members clash with police in Camp Ashraf Arabic language Buratha news agency that members of the anti-Iran terrorist Mujahedin-e Khalq group attacked Iraqi security forces with knives and truncheons yesterday in a bid to prevent them from examining their belongings.

To date, roughly two-thirds of MKO members have been relocated to Camp Liberty in five groups of 400; however, some 1200 of them still remain at Ashraf. Another group of 400 were due to be transferred yesterday, but the conflict hindered the move.

Iraq is committed to temporarily transfer members of anti-Iran MKO from Camp Ashraf to a former U.S. military base, Camp Liberty, for the UNHCR to determine their refugee status.

The Iraqi source said that the yesterday’s clash was due to the inspection of Ashraf residents’ belongings by Iraqi police.

In a statement released Saturday, the terrorist group claimed Iraqi government was obstructing the transfer of the sixth batch of its members from Camp Ashraf to Liberty by “preventing the transfer of many items including water air-conditioners, water heaters, kerosene heaters, maintenance tools and generators;” however, the Iraqi source revealed that the thorough inspection of the MKO belongings resulted in finding some materials for military purposes which they were aimed at transferring to Camp Liberty.

According to the reports from Iraq, sixth convoy of terrorist Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO, a.k.a. MEK and PMOI) is going to be relocated from Camp Ashraf to Camp Liberty today.

The report comes as the ringleader of the terrorist group had set August 23 for the relocation of its members from Camp Ashraf to Camp Liberty.

“After many years of suffering came upon the Iraqi people by the terrorist Munafeqin (Hypocrites, a term used by Iran and Iraq to describe MKO) grouplet, now our hopes are tied to the closure of the case of this group in Iraq,” said Jamil al-Shamri, Diyala province police commander.

Addressing a joint press conference with deputy governor of Diyala province on Sunday, al-Shamri added that a number of terrorists have been captured following the security plans done in collaboration with the Iraqi people.

The relocation is in line with the memorandum of understanding signed on 25 December between Iraq and United Nations to temporarily transfer members of the terrorist group to a former U.S. military base for the UNHCR to determine their refugee status.

To date, roughly two-thirds of the members of these people have been relocated to Camp Liberty in five groups of 400; however, some 1200 of them still remain at Ashraf.

MKO Terrorists Obliged to Leave Camp Ashraf by October

The Iraqi government set a new deadline for the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) to evacuate its members from Camp Ashraf – the main training camp of the terrorist group in Iraq – MKO Terrorists Obliged to Leave Camp Ashraf by October by October this year, and called for the MKO’s unconditional compliance with Baghdad’s decree.

According to a report by the Persian-language Neday-e Haqiqat (the Voice of Truth) website, a delegation of representatives of the UN, Iraqi government and the US embassy visited the Khalis region in Diyala province yesterday and held meetings with MKO ringleaders over the terrorist group’s evacuation from Camp Ashraf.

At the meeting, the delegation asked the MKO to end the negative efforts it has been making to undermine the evacuation process, cautioning that the terrorists should leave Iraq’s soil.

According to report, the Iraqi officials agreed with the UN an US officials’ demands to postpone the withdrawal by October to show Baghdad’s commitment to the international community and find a humanitarian solution to the MKO, but they warned that the new deadline would be the last delay in MKO’s exist from Iraq.

In 2010 Iraq’s parliament and government set December 2011 as the deadline for MKO’s withdrawal from the country, but the group and its western backers have delayed the exit plan several times so far.

The MKO has been in Iraq’s Diyala province since the 1980s.

Iraqi security forces took control of the training base of the MKO at Camp Ashraf – about 60km (37 miles) north of Baghdad – in 2009.

The Iraqi authority also changed the name of the military center from Camp Ashraf to the Camp of New Iraq.

Earlier in July, Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and the UN Secretary-General’s Representative in Iraq Martin Kobler agreed to put an end to the dossier of MKO’s presence in Iraq in accordance with the deadlines announced last year.

According to a statement issued by the prime minister’s office, Maliki met with Kobler in his office. During the meeting, the two sides emphasized the importance of cooperation and coordination between the Iraqi government and UN representation to help it perform the tasks entrusted to it.

"They also discussed issues of common interest," said the statement.

The MKO is blacklisted by much of the international community, including the United States.

Before an overture by the EU, the MKO was on the European Union’s list of terrorist organizations subject to an EU-wide assets freeze. Yet, the MKO puppet leader, Maryam Rajavi, who has residency in France, regularly visited Brussels and despite the ban enjoyed full freedom in Europe.

The MKO is behind a slew of assassinations and bombings inside Iran, a number of EU parliamentarians said in a recent letter in which they slammed a British court decision to remove the MKO from the British terror list. The EU officials also added that the group has no public support within Iran because of their role in helping Saddam Hussein in the Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-1988).

Many of the MKO members abandoned the terrorist organization while most of those still remaining in the camp are said to be willing to quit but are under pressure and torture not to do so.

The group, founded in the 1960s, blended elements of Islamism and Stalinism and participated in the overthrow of the US-backed Shah of Iran in 1979. Ahead of the revolution, the MKO conducted attacks and assassinations against both Iranian and Western targets.

The group started assassination of the citizens and officials after the revolution in a bid to take control of the newly established Islamic Republic. It killed several of Iran’s new leaders in the early years after the revolution, including the then President, Mohammad Ali Rajayee, Prime Minister, Mohammad Javad Bahonar and the Judiciary Chief, Mohammad Hossein Beheshti who were killed in bomb attacks by MKO members in 1981.

The group fled to Iraq in 1986, where it was protected by Saddam Hussein and where it helped the Iraqi dictator suppress Shiite and Kurd uprisings in the country.

The terrorist group joined Saddam’s army during the Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-1988) and helped Saddam and killed thousands of Iranian civilians and soldiers during the US-backed Iraqi imposed war on Iran.

Iraqi security forces arrested the spokesman of the terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization Iraq Arrests MKO Spokesman (MKO also known as the MEK, PMOI and NCR) in Iraq, local media reports said.

According to "Ashraf News" website, Mohammad Eqbal was arrested after the office of the Iraqi prime minister issued an arrest warrant for him on charges of provoking MKO members against the Baghdad government and the terms of the Baghdad agreement with the UN on the presence of the terrorist group in Iraq.

Eqbal has also been charged for resistance against the Iraqi government’s decisions, specially evacuation of the MKO terrorists from the group’s main training camp, Camp Ashraf (now the Camp of New Iraq).

Iran exiles say will move group to new Iraq site

An Iranian opposition organisation said on Saturday it is ready to move another group of its Iran exiles say will move group to new Iraq site Iraq-based members to a new site near Baghdad after a delay which has dragged on for several months.

"As a gesture of goodwill, the residents of Ashraf will commence the 6th convoy of 400 residents from Camp Ashraf to Camp Liberty on August 23," Maryam Rajavi, president of the National Council of Resistance of Iran which includes the People’s Mujahedeen Organisation of Iran, said in a statement.

In return, Rajavi said she expects Washington to renew "its commitments to the approach to delisting" the PMOI as a terrorist group, resolving "humanitarian issues" at the new site and ensuring "the safety and security" of its residents.

The PMOI and its affiliates have issued a torrent of statements complaining about living conditions at Camp Liberty, a former US military base near Baghdad to which its Iraq-based members estimated to number 3,200 began relocating from their long-time base of Camp Ashraf in late February.

For several months, the 1,200 PMOI members remaining in Ashraf have refused to move to Liberty as a result of those complaints. Were the 400 to move on Thursday, it is not immediately clear when the remaining 800 would be transferred.

They are moving from Ashraf to Liberty as part of a deal between the United Nations and the Iraqi government that aims to see the exiles relocated outside the country.

The US has said that moving from Ashraf could facilitate the group’s removal from the terror blacklist.

UN envoy Martin Kobler, who has been working to resolve the issue but has been the target of a barrage of PMOI attacks for the alleged poor conditions at Camp Liberty, welcomed the announcement that the 400 exiles were ready to move.

His office said in a statement that "the United Nations calls upon the remaining residents of Camp Ashraf to also start preparations for additional convoys to Camp Hurriya (Liberty), in order to peacefully complete the relocation process."

The leftwing PMOI was founded in the 1960s to oppose the shah of Iran, but took up arms against the country’s new clerical rulers after the 1979 Islamic revolution.

Now-executed Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein allowed the PMOI to establish Camp Ashraf near the Iranian border after he launched the 1980-1988 war against Iran in which the group reportedly fought alongside his forces.

He also provided financial backing to the group, which has since said it has renounced violence.

MEK May Remain on U.S. Terror List

WASHINGTON — State Department officials are preparing for a possible decision by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to redesignate an Iranian opposition group as a terrorist Iran Group May Remain on U.S. Terror List organization, in part because of the group’s resistance to abandoning its camp in Iraq, two American officials said Wednesday.

The group, the Mujahedeen Khalq, or People’s Mujahedeen, has mounted a costly campaign to be removed from the terrorist list, enlisting an array of prominent American politicians and former military officers to press the case that the group abandoned violence years ago.

The two officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the matter involves litigation, said Mrs. Clinton had not made a decision yet. But they said the group’s refusal to complete a move from Camp Ashraf to the former site of Camp Liberty, near the Baghdad airport, may doom its bid.

Under a court ruling, Mrs. Clinton must make a decision on the terrorist listing before Oct. 1. While the group, also known as M.E.K., carried out bombings in Iran in the 1970s against the shah’s government and later against the Islamic government, causing the death of several Americans, by most accounts it has not engaged in terrorism in recent years.

Asked why the M.E.K.’s failure to move from Camp Ashraf was relevant to the terrorist designation, one official said that the group had long used the facility for paramilitary training. Though the group was disarmed after the American-led invasion of Iraq in 2003, he said, a refusal to move would raise questions about whether the group has truly changed its intentions.

A spokesman for the M.E.K. in Paris, Shahin Gobadi, said in a statement that linking the group’s cooperation in relocating and its designation as a terrorist group would be “illegal and illegitimate.” He said that to relist the group would be a “license” for Iraqi forces to “massacre” the group’s members in Iraq, and that the State Department would bear responsibility.

Under orders from the Iraqi government to vacate Camp Ashraf, which was given to the M.E.K. by Saddam Hussein, the group moved about 2,000 of the 3,200 residents to the new location to await a possible move as refugees to new countries. But the convoys stalled in May after M.E.K. leaders said conditions at Camp Liberty were inadequate.

The Iraqi government has close ties to Iran, which has complained about the presence of its sworn enemies at Camp Ashraf. A reported 47 M.E.K. members have been killed in previous clashes with Iraqi security forces, and both American and United Nations officials have urged the group to complete the move to avoid further violence.

On July 15, a 26-truck cargo convoy delivered air-conditioners, furniture, video games and other supplies from Camp Ashraf to Camp Liberty with the permission of the Iraqi authorities, a breakthrough that American officials hoped would persuade the M.E.K. to finish the transfer of the remaining 1,200 residents.

Instead, M.E.K. officials voiced new complaints about the conditions at Camp Liberty, which they described as a “prison,” and so far they have refused to resume the move. Dozens of members of Congress have written to Mrs. Clinton to express concern about the state of the camp, but American officials who have visited it report adequate conditions, including ample water and electricity and even a recent shipment of 200,000 cans of soda.

Syrian security forces arrest five MKO terrorists

Syrian government forces have reportedly arrested five members of the terrorist Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) along with 35 other gunmen as they were trying to sneak across the Syrian security forces arrest five MKO terrorists border into the crisis-hit Arab state.

A Syrian security official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the government forces arrested 40 terrorists on Monday as they attempted to enter Syria, Fars News Agency reported on Sunday.

The unnamed official added that five of the detainees were identified as MKO members following a full-scale investigation into the capture.

The detained MKO terrorists have confessed that the MKO is training insurgents on the Turkish soil near the border with Syria, while certain Arab and Western states are providing necessary support for their activities.

The report comes as Iraqi and Syrian security officials maintain that a large number of MKO members have entered Syria over the past few days.

The officials have also warned against MKO’s training of terrorists in Turkey as well as the semi-autonomous Kurdistan region in northern Iraq.

Director of Iran’s Habilian Association Seyyed Mohammad Javad Hasheminejad had announced on May 28 that the MKO is preparing to launch a massive terrorist operation in Syria.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March 2011, with many people, including large number of security forces, killed in the turmoil.

While the West and the Syrian opposition accuse the government of the killings, Damascus blames outlaws, saboteurs and insurgents for the unrest, insisting that it is being orchestrated from abroad.
