Fake News for Real Photos, Scandal for MKO Propaganda

In a very unprofessional gaffe, the English website of the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (the MKO) publishes a photo absolutely unrelated to the so-called news about Iranian teachers.

The MKO propaganda claims to be the voice of the Iranian people propagating various news on the alleged riots, protests and revolt of the Iranian people! The most recent of the so-called protests is now seen on the group’s propaganda website Mojahedin.org under the title, “Iranian teachers in Hamedan rally to demand basic rights”.

The text of the alleged news quotes what it calls “independent reporters” reporting that “dozens of Iranian teachers took part in a rally in Hamedan, western Iran on Friday, demanding their basic rights and also the release of imprisoned teachers”. Surprisingly, a photo of teachers’ walking program in Hamedan with the fake caption reveals the misinformation campaign of the MKO propaganda.

While the MKO’s news claims that the teachers held up banners “which pointed out that their colleagues were being arrested in Iran simply for demanding their basic rights, such as fair wages,” teachers in the photo are carrying a banner in Persian with these exact words: “Family walking gathering of teachers of Hamedan Province”! The banner also includes the exact date and itinerary of the walking program. In addition, people in the picture include men, women and children walking peacefully on the side walk of the street.

Definitely, this is not the first time that the MKO propaganda seems to try to fool its English speaking audience by fake news and misinformation accompanied with real pictures. All through the years of conflicts on the Iranian nuclear program between Iran and the West, the MKO tried to launch propaganda to obstruct any deal between the two sides. From time to time, It held numerous press conferences on what it called “new revelations on the Iranian nuclear weapon program” showing some ambiguous satellite picture, maps and photographs to dupe its few spectators. Ultimately, the group’s efforts to misinform the West did not work and the deal was reached.

The new scandal on the MKO propaganda website is just another evidence on the group as “skilled manipulators of public opinion” as Rand Report calls them—although this time they do not look so skilled.

MP: Iraqi Kurds do not want the MKO in Iraqi territory

Kurd member of Iraqi Parliament asserts that Iraqi Kurds do not want the Mujahedin Khalq Organization in Iraqi territory.

Mr. Rinas Jano Mohammad Younis, a deputy of Kurdistan Democratic Party from Dahuk Province told Ashraf News, “Kurds have been victims of the MKO as it was cooperating with Saddam Hussein.”

“The role of the MKO and the crimes it committed against Iraqi people including Arabs, Kurds and Turkmens is known to everyone,” Mr. Jano added. “Iraqi government has so far tolerated members of this terrorist organization because European countries have promised to receive it in their soil.”

The Kurdish parliament member considers the United Nations as the main responsible body to determine the future of the remaining members of this Iranian organization, in Iraq. “The UN has a heavy responsibility on the issue of the group since it has been a side of the agreement that was signed based on relocation of members of the Mujahedin Khalq out of Iraq,” Mr. Jano said.

The deputy of Kurdistan alliance in Iraqi Parliament denied that Kurdish alliance fraction wants the MKO members to remain in Iraq. ”We support the rule of Iraqi government on its territory and the expulsion of any terrorist group that is hostile to neighboring countries of Iraq,” he stated.

Perils for the MKO, the US purchasing Iran’s heavy water

As the leading enemy of the Iranian Government on the nuclear affairs, the US is now starting the first financial deals with Iran. The news of the US buying Iran’s heavy water marks a significant message to other players against the Iranian nuclear program. As a vocal opponent of diplomacy, the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (the MKO) has received the message so it has launched an aggressive propaganda against the deal.

The MKO’s spokesman in the US Alireza Jaffarzadeh called the US decision “another unjustified concession” and “rewarding” the Iranian government. However, certain analysts including Jay Solomon of the Wall Street Journal considers this deal “a new gambit in a growing White House effort to encourage Tehran to stick to the nuclear agreement reached last year”.[1]

The MKO’s stance is as usual shared with their republican sponsors in the US Congress. "The White House wants to ease Iran’s concerns that it is not reaping the expected economic benefits of the nuclear accord”, Jay Solomon writes. ”But its efforts to buttress the Iranian economy have ignited fresh ire among Republicans in Congress who are drafting new legislation to block any Iranian economic integration with the U.S.”. American warmongers criticized the administration for “subsidizing Tehran’s nuclear program”. [2]

What the MKO fears most is seen in this paragraph by Jay Solomon: “The purchase agreement is the latest sign of rapprochement between Washington and Tehran after decades of hostilities. As part of the nuclear accord, the U.S. and global powers lifted certain sanctions on Iran. And the U.S. Treasury in recent months granted licenses to American companies, including Boeing Co. to return to the Iranian market. “[3]

As a matter of fact, rapprochement between Tehran and Washington results in more isolation for the MKO. While the MKO propaganda do not hesitate to obstruct any agreement between Iran and the West, there is a true fact that the US actually needs Iran’s heavy water. So, the purchase agreement seems to be a mutually beneficial deal for both sides. According to the WSJ, “The U.S. doesn’t produce heavy water domestically, and largely has been purchasing the material from Canada and other foreign countries in recent years. It imports around 75 tons of heavy water annually, according to Department of Energy officials.” [4]

Besides, the director of the Press Office of US Department of State, Ms. Elizabeth Trudeau clarified for journalists in a Press Briefing on April 22, “This heavy water will fulfill a substantial portion of the U.S. domestic demand this year for industry and domestic research applications.” She added, “Our purchase of the heavy water means it will instead be used for critically important research in non-nuclear industrial requirements here in the United States.” [5]

This indicates that the Islamic Republic has officially become an exporter of heavy water to the world. Bad news for the MKO is that the two first costumers of Ian’s heavy water are two super powers, the US and Russia. “Iran is holding talks with Russia to sell it about 40 tons of heavy water from its nuclear program “, reported the Reuters. “The Russian Foreign Ministry later confirmed Moscow was considering the purchase.” [6]

As the MKO detests the notion of rapprochement between Iran and the West, the practically successful nuclear deal will make the MEK more inapt. So far, the MEK has not succeeded to impose a significant challenge to the Iran-West nuclear conflicts, but western politicians should watch the group as a nuisance in the process of reaching peace.

Five more Camp Liberty residents defect the MKO

Sources to Ashraf News: Defection of five Mojahedin Khalq members in Camp Liberty

Iraqi security sources revealed on Monday that five members of the MKO terrorist organization, who are in Camp Liberty in Baghdad, declared their defection and turned themselves to security forces stationed near the perimeter of the camp.

Police Colonel, Mohsen Jaber Al-Kanani, told the reporter of Ashraf News, “Five members of the Organization of Iran (PMOI) defected on Sunday from the organization and turned themselves to the security forces after they managed to leave Camp Liberty.”

Al-Kanani said that the Iraqi police handed over those five to the United Nations mission in Baghdad, noting that “the dissidents were Ali Hussein Khodabandeh, Mohsen Tayeb Zadeh, Massoud Bakhshi Zadeh, Sayed Jalal Rahimpour, Manouchehr Shirazi,” .. “three of the dissidents are from Kermanshah province in western Iran."

Hundreds of MKO terrorist organization members who are in Camp Liberty seek to defect, leave the organization and join their families who have been protesting more than a month in front of the Camp, demanding to meet with their sons detained by the organization leaders Maryam and Massoud Rajavi.

Why MeK keeps making the promise of overthrowing Iran’s gov’t

After Maryam Rajavi in 2010 and Parviz Khazaei in 2012, now is the MeK’s European patron Struan Stevenson to predict the overthrow of Iranian government.

Each time that the group makes a promise, they resort to a ground to reiterate their unending promises over and over again.

The MeK leadership’s excuse for this time is deepening the "cracks" among political parties in Iran, which has been stated by Stevenson.

"But his gerrymandering of the election lists may turn out to be the last straw for people who have had enough of fascist oppression, terrorism, corruption and brutality. The fault lines continue to deepen as more and more cracks appear. 2016 will be a pivotal year for Iran and it may well be the year that sees an end to the world’s most dangerous regime."

The reason that the hiding leader of MeK does not make such a promise is mainly because what he said in a public meeting years before his breakout. He said, "I withdraw all my remarks as regards the overthrowing. I’ve made a ghastly mistake."

Of course he intended to fool the members by this as he found it necessary that all the members accept to remain in Iraq with a long-term vision and with no hope. But this strategy did not hinder MeK leadership to resort to false promises in order to keep the frustrated and disappointed members in the camps in Iraq.

In 2007, for example, Rajavi assured the members that US Republicans would definitely attack Iran and that year was Iranian government’s final year.

So why such claims are repeated and the deadline for overthrowing Iranian government is being extended?

The truth is that the disillusioned members of MeK need a beacon of hope. They need to know that they will be released from that miserable condition one day and that they can take their revenge on the Iranian people after Rajavi’s gaining power.

Misinformation on the conditions in Iran is also like that. The Rajavi and his members are interested in misrepresenting the conditions in Iran and claim that Iran is a crisis-stricken country.

Of course the MeK leader intends to wage a so-called psychological warfare against the supporters of the other party with these claims.

But the major function of these promises is for the Rajavi to keep the miserable members and convince them not to leave the Rajavi’s organization and look forward to the day that the regime is "overthrown by itself."

2016 will be over and we should look forward to the next grounds of the MeK to repeat the promise!

An impossible dream

The desire for a military invasion against Iran and destroying the country has turned to a terrible nightmare haunting the MeK all the time. The ongoing crisis in the Middle East particularly in Iran’s neighboring countries during the past two decades have increased the desire and made the MeK leadership drowned in vain desires.

Once using violence on the Iranian streets to topple the Islamic Republic, the MeK is now looking for allies in the region. MeK’s efforts in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen suggests that they are hoping to break the axis of resistance and bring the war to the Iranian frontlines. It shows that the MeK knows no enemy except the Islamic Republic of Iran and their enmity with other states and groups is because of their animosity with Iran. Simply put, they are against the Islamic Republic’s strategy. A strategy which is accepted by the US and European powers. After 3 decades they found out that force is not the solution and thus they sat at the negotiation table.

Using a mixture of stupidity and imagination for analyzing political issues, the MeK leadership resorts to militarism to gain power, or rather, to help release its organization from a deadlock.

Hence, the MeK leadership views the regional developments as in Syria and Yemen not as they really are, but as he wishes them to be. In their calculations, the international players are the winner and Iran will be the loser.

Their foolish understanding is that Iran’s regional power is connected to Assad’s fate. Iran wanted to keep Assad in power 5 years ago when its regional and international enemies intended to topple Assad in less than a month. Having flexed their muscles, they saw fit to negotiate with Iran. The MeK leadership’s assumption that the Islamic Republic consented Assad’s removal (if there is such a consent) again suggests the mixture of stupidity and imagination of their analyzing political issues. That is why they are misrepresenting the regional developments and define them as they wish.

For example, in an article published on the MeK website titled Prospects for Syria and its Loser and Winner an unidentified author asserts:

“addressing a press conference in his recent official visit to Pakistan, Hassan Rouhani said, “negotiations are a basis to achieve a solution and a transitional period in order to determine the future of Syria.” His remarks were so eye catching as the Iranian regime has always been backing Syria’s murderous dictator. As the Syrian opposition and regional countries as well as the western parties emphasized, the transition period means removal of Bashar Assad from power. Thus Hassan Rouhani’s remarks are a step towards going through the motions of the region.”

Finally, the author concludes that, “the confession shows the starting point of an inevitable ending to the Islamic Republic’s strategy.” However, the author censors Rouhani’s remarks during a phone conversation with his Russian counterpart.

President Rouhani reiterated that more cooperation and coordination between Tehran and Moscow contributes to peace and stability in Syria.

He also maintained that ceasefire is necessary to be preserved simultaneously with keeping talks between oppositions.

The Syrian nation is the only authority to decide over the destiny of Syria, highlighted Rouhani in his dialogue with Mr. Putin while insisting upon the principle approaches of the Islamic Republic of Iran toward the crisis in Syria.

During the same dialogue, President Putin of Russia pledged his country’s commitment to peaceful resolution of the Syrian crisis and reiterated that the Russian Federation shares the same approach to the issue.

He also underlined the need for the practice of full control over the Syrian borders to prevent the re-arming of terrorists or dispatch of financial and logistical aid to them,” he added.

The conversation clearly shows that who has provided the Syrian oppositionists with the opportunity of negotiation and what the political future of Syria will be. But the MeK leadership still hopes that the Saudi Arabia gains the victory in the battle.

Zionist Lobbies Exploit the MKO

When in 1989, the Iranian American historian Ervand Abrahamian published his prominent book on the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (the MKO), The Iranian Mojahedin and asserted that the MKO’s rhetoric and its relations do not match its activities and ideology, the group’s hypocrisy had not extended to its today’s dimensions. Today, the MKO is openly trying to take shelter under the umbrella of the US and Israel while the leader of the group, Masoud Rajavi criticized the rulers of the Islamic republic for their alleged rapprochement to the West! [1]

The Iranian American scholar, Dr. Sasan Fayazmanesh discussed the group’s history as “an autocratic, Marxist-oriented terrorist organization with little popular support in Iran and little credibility outside”. Dr. Fayazmanesh who is an economics professor at California State University wrote a book on the US-Iran relations, The United States and Iran: Sanctions, Wars and the Policy of Dual Containment. In a part of the book, he clarifies the MKO’s opportunistic tactics asserting, ”MEK had correctly realized that the Israeli lobby groups are the nerve-center of US foreign policy in the Middle East, and as such they concentrated their efforts on befriending these groups and their representatives in the US government.” He adds, “This was of course, quite ironic. Just a few months earlier, on June 20, 1992, the BBC Summary of World Broadcast reported that in his meeting with Saddam Hussein, MEK leader Rajavi had stated: “Iranian national movements and their masses strongly denounced the Iranian regime’s alliance with US imperialism, World Zionism and regional reactionaries to launch aggression against Iraq…” [2]

However, the objective of overthrowing the Islamic Republic made strange bed fellows out of the US, Israel and the MKO. The American government officials with close relationships with Zionist lobbies became vigorous supporters of the MKO. An example is introduced by Dr. Fayazmanesh: “There are, of course, a number of other individuals in the US Congress who are closely associated with Israeli Lobby groups and support MEK. One such person is Representative Ileana Ros- Lehtinen who considers the MKO terror cult as “democratic, pluralistic and secular”. [3]

Dr. Fayazmanesh determines when a “cult centered around an individual” with a dark history of violence and cult-like practices, becomes a convenient tool in the hands of strange bedfellows like Saddam Hussein, The US and Israel. It means that the MKO is not taking benefits from using its “various patrons” to meet its aims but “the opposite is usually the case”. The US and Israel as well as Saddam Hussein have just a ”temporary use” for them. [4]

The Iranian American journalist Ali Gharib’s recent piece on Lobelog about Zionists-MKO relations also points out how terribly this relationship is based on benefits of Israel. “Perhaps some right-wing Israel lobby groups can be forgiven for taking up the cause of the exiled Iranian opposition group, the Mojahedin-e Khalq (MEK),” writes Ali Gharib. “The more ignorant among them might see a group headed by a woman, Maryam Rajavi, who claims to champion a secular, human rights-respecting democracy in Iran. They don’t know about Rajavi and the MEK’s history: its violence, its cult-like behavior, and its own history of human rights violations. What they do see—however problematic it might be for the rest of us—is a group monomaniacally focused on overthrowing their nemesis, the Islamic Republic, and that’s good enough.” [5]

Gharib points out the controversial deed of a Zionist lobby group named The Israeli Project. “But the Israel Project (TIP), which featured Maryam Rajavi in an online video earlier this month denouncing the Iranian elections, gets no pass on using the MEK as a bludgeon against Iran,” He asserts.” That’s because the Israel Project knows damn well what Rajavi and the MEK are. Consider what TIP head Josh Block had to say about the group in 2011, when he was at the inaptly named Progressive Policy Institute: “The MEK is a terrorist organization. Right? Let’s not kid ourselves.” Yes, let’s not.” [6]

As Kurds remember Saddam’s crimes – Rajavi clearly not welcome in the UK

In March, Westminster became the focus of Kurdish activities. The respected Centre for Kurdish Progress organized a packed event in Westminster to celebrate Norouz. (The Iranian New Year fell on 20 March this year.)

March 16 however marks the anniversary of the day in 1988 when Iraqi war planes and artillery pounded the Kurdish town of Halabja in northern Iraq with mustard gas and the deadly nerve agent sarin. Some 5,000 people – mainly women and children – died on the day, and up to 12,000 have lost their lives since. A packed rally in Westminster allowed Kurds and sympathisers to remember this tragedy inflicted on them by Saddam Hussein.

Both events were attended by leading politicians, Jeremy Corbyn, Jason McCartney, Hilary Benn and Middle East minister, Tobias Ellwood.

Those familiar with these issues will be aware of the role of the Mojahedin Khalq in supporting and facilitating Saddam Hussein’s genocidal attacks on Iraq’s Kurdish population. The MEK’s Morvarid [Pearl] Operation in March 1991 targeted and killed thousands of Kurdish civilians in an attempt to crush their uprising following Gulf War I.

In spite of this history, the MEK rallied its lobbyists to try to push the name of Maryam Rajavi under the nose of parliament. In an act of astounding chutzpah, Labour MP for Brent Central Dawn Butler eagerly submitted a written question on March 15: To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, if he will invite Maryam Rajavi to visit Parliament and the UK.

As Middle East minister, Tobias Ellwood, with Halabja no doubt fresh in his mind, gave a short, definitive reply on March 23: Maryam Rajavi remains excluded from the UK and Her Majesty’s Government has no plans to invite her to visit the UK.

Dawn Butler needs to perform a little more fact checking if she is to retain any credibility.

Duplicity of the MEK nature

The MKO, an unsuccessful example in realizing women’s rights

On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, the Mujahedin Khalq Organization ( the MKO) held a so-called conference “to advocate for better social and political treatment for women in Iran and across the world”, while the condition of women inside the MKO is disastrous.

The MKO considers “the political and cultural landscape for Iranian women as incredibly poor” while female defectors of the group everyday reveal new dimensions of women’s rights abuses committed in the cult-like system of the group.

Meanwhile, on another part of Europe, a meeting was held by former members of the group in Koln, Germany. They succeeded to organize the conference to criticize the destructive cult of Rajavi despite efforts made by the MKO’s agents to frustrate the event. According to the organizers of the meeting, the MKO agents had contacted the department that had rented the hall to the defectors, giving misinformation to obstruct their meeting. Ultimately their efforts were futile. Former members including Women Association succeeded to hold the meeting in which Ms. Batoul Soltani, Ms. Zahra Moeini and Ms. Homeyra Mohammad Nezhad denounced the Cult of Rajavi and warned the world about its threat of sectarianism and violence.

Conversely, the MKO authorities were not allowed to hold their alleged conference on women’s rights in public halls. The Albanian government cancelled the group’s event in the Central Orthodox Church of Tirana and the French authorities also did not allow the Cult to organize its conference in the Grand Arche’ La Defence which is a governmental building in the suburb of Paris.

This indicates that the MKO is not a reliable entity in Europe. Particularly in Albania, the mainstream media has turned against the group. Following the release of certain TV shows, news reports and an interview with the group’s defector Ehsan Bidi with the Abanian newspaper Dita, the Albanian government sounds to become more cautious about the threat of the Rajavi’s Cult.

France and Albanian states should be enough vigilant regarding the MKO in their territory. In both countries, the group has built its bases. More crucial issue is that Rajavi is trying to build a new Camp Ashraf in Tirana.

Today, the world is seeking new achievements for women in their way towards equality and freedom but the MKO has enslaved women. Women in the Cult of Rajavi are deprived from the most basic human rights. They can never love or be loved. They must be single forever; they cannot be mothers anymore; hysterectomy surgery is an order from leader. Those in the group who had children have been separated from children. They are not free to choose their clothes, they have to wear uniforms. Hijab is mandatory in the MKO.

Therefore, western audience of the MKO should get to know that female members of the MKO endure severe mental and physical tortures under the destructive mind control system of the cult. Maryam Rajavi’s “Ten Point Plan for Women’s Rights in tomorrow’s Iran” is absurd. It is only a well-furnished title to cover up the most horrific human rights violations against women in the cult of Rajavi.

A report on the MKO hostages’ families’ fourth trip to Camp Liberty

On February 25th, another group of Mujahedin-e Khalq hostages’ families arrived at Camp Liberty gate. The families’ only demand was to visit with their family members enslaved at Camp Liberty, Iraq by the Cult leaders. They have had no contact with their loved ones for many years. They are worried about the destiny of their family members at MKO Cult camp.

The families picketed in front of the Camp Liberty for several days. While crying, the suffering families called their loved ones vociferously.

The families actively tried to convince the brainwashed members to liberate themselves front the Cult’s physical and mental barriers.

Ms. Iranpour whose brothers are held hostages by MKO leaders at Camp Liberty and has several times travelled to Iraq, evaluated the families’ trip to Iraq as favorable. Referring to the families’ revelations to the UNHCR representatives and journalists, Ms. Iranpour reiterated: “the recent trip [to Iraq] has had many achievements. She said despite the MKO Cult leaders’ efforts to confront the effects of family members affections on residents, still some of the residents replied to the families’ passions by waving hands and sending kisses.

The journalists also attended the families’ picketing in front of the Camp. Mohammad Al- Yaseri wrote a report on South of Lebanon Newspaper titled:” Liberty base… US collusion and silence of the government”. In his report Al-Yaseri wrote: ”…this two-thousand people are held captive by this organization under the supervision of the US and support of the Europe and the shameful silence of the Iraqi government. Today 170 family members arrived at the[Liberty] Camp’s gate in accompany with some TV Channels such as Al-Alam and Al- Etejah Satellite Channel. However the organization didn’t allow them to visit their families in the fear of their defection and return to their homeland…."

The families also wrote a letter to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Iraq demanding to help them visit their loved ones.
