15 Rajavi cult members (Mojahedin Khalq) killed when they attacked people in Al- Anbakieh Reports indicate that elements of Mojahedin-e khalq organization have attacked the residents of Al-Anbakieh area near Al-Meqdadieh; this group has faced resistance by the families and consequently 15 members of this terrorist group have been killed.
Those whose names have been revealed by General Qanbar are known for their opposition to the Iraqi government and for their support for the MKO. Saleh Mutlak, Mohammed Daini, Adnan Al-Dulaimi and Khalaf El-Ayan are known figures of this movement.General Qanbar has said that TNT found in El-Ayan’s house matches explosives used in explosion in Parliament’s building.
Calling it a continuation of appeasement of Iranian regime, MKO condemned the decision taken by the EU and said: “In defiance of EU Court ruling, the EU Council intends to maintain the PMOI on the terror list”. The Council intends to designate MKO because the group has failed to provide any convincing document that would justify its deproscription. Although MKO claims it has forsworn terrorism since June 2001, there are countless evidences that the group was actively plotting and carrying out terrorist operations until 2003 when it was disarmed by the coalition forces in Iraq
Diplomats from Iran and the United States are scheduled to meet in Baghdad on May 28 to discuss the deteriorating security situation in Iraq. It is the first time since the 1979 Islamic Revolution that officials from Iran and the U.S. will be meeting face to face. Even though Iranian and U.S. officials have stated that the security situation in Iraq is the only topic on the agenda of the talks
The US is well aware of the fact that MKO, long supported by Saddam and his accomplice in many crimes, surrendered its arms only when it was forced to and had no other choice. The group has been on the State Department’s list of Terrorist Organizations since it was first initiated in 1997. However, the group is under the US protection at a time when Iran is rebuked for helping the groups with no terrorist identity on the State Department.
Iranian opposition group Mojahedin-e Khalq had close ties with former regime’s security and military services because they had common goals, and therefore it was strongly involved in suppressing the uprising of people after 1991 invasion to Kuwait. Following the ouster of Saddam regime, the elements of this group were protected by US soldiers; American’s put the MKO members in one of its camps in Diala province.
According to most of Iraqi media, a key issue in Iran-US upcoming talks for stabilizing Iraq is that the US should quit support for terrorist MKO. Even MKO supporter Saleh Mutlaq said in an interview with Japan’s Xinhua news agency that he’s seriously concerned about US’s intentions to stop supporting MKO.
The MKO were also supported by several western countries while launching their terrorist attacks inside and outside of Iran. “These double standards are at odds with the UN resolutions. The best way to ensure we are on the right path is to take all the measures to combat terrorism in the UN paradigm,”Soltanieh said.
‘The unsuccessful experience of major powers in their superficial, improper and biased approach to combating terrorism has been ineffective in decreasing terrorist threats,’ he was quoted as saying by the Iranian IRNA news agency. At the two-day meeting which concluded on Friday, Soltanieh, who represents his country at the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency, denounced the attempt to establish a connection between terrorism and religion.
