Iranian and Albanian News agencies sign cooperation agreement

Agreement of cooperation signed in Tehran between Iranian News Agency (IRNA) and Albanian Telegraphic Agency (ATA)

The open communication established with counterpart agencies based on a professional point of view has enabled the Albanian Telegraphic Agency to expand its institutional cooperation with news agencies not only in the region but also beyond it. In the framework of this cooperation and a new approach of communication between the two countries, the Iranian News Agency (IRNA) and Albanian Telegraphic Agency (ATA) have signed an agreement of cooperation.

For the Albanian part, the agreement was signed by director general, Gëzim Podgorica, meanwhile for the Iranian part it was signed by director general, Muhammad Khodadi.

Both sides described the signing of agreement as a crucial moment for both countries and a great opportunity to bolster the joint communication. While Iran and Albania are expected to boost their exchanges in trade, tourism and culture, the official information shared via institutional channels will be to the mutual benefit of this cooperation.

At the meeting between the two delegations, director Mohammad Khodadi pointed out that for the agency IRNA any cooperation is of high importance and the signing of this agreement is a concrete and great opportunity to gain new insights into Albania and everything your country offers, but also to give a new boost to communication between the two countries. I believe that the information we are going to exchange will ramp up the media presence of Iran and Albania and vice-versa, however they increase in value due to the timely information items portraying the latest developments in both countries.

For his part, ATA director general Gëzim Podgorica thanked Mr. Muhammad Khodadi for the invitation to visit Iran and the willingness to sign this agreement. Mr. Podgorica went on saying: “Iran, as a country that has witnessed an array of civilizations and empires, has made a great contribution to the world culture. The relations of Albanians with Iran go back a long way in history, suffice it to mention our great national poet, Naim Frashëri, whose first poetry book Tehajula (Dreaming) has been written in Persian. The conference slated for October, this year in Iran in honor of this outstanding personality is a testimony to these relations and a high appreciation of Naim Frasheri as well as a sign of the will to add a civilized dimension to our rapport.

As agencies, today we pave the way for a new communication, which will enable the public of both countries to develop new insights into complex developments, but also into history, traditions, culture, tourism and others. Iran boasts great assets in this direction not only as a big country but also as a country steeped in ancient history. On the other hand, Albania, although a small country geographically, boasts exceptional assets in culture and art. Through an open communication, there will be ample opportunity to turn the spotlight on these assets and this is all that matters – ATA director general Gezim Podgorica said. During the stay in Iran, the ATA delegation has visited a number of important historic and cultural sites.

ATA delegation also toured the venues of IRNA, where they were briefed with the efforts to deal with challenges on media market. The agency IRNA broadcasts in 8 languages and has correspondents and broadcasting centers in 32 countries worldwide. It has a staff of 1300 employees and issues 5 daily newspapers in Persian and English. It has 256 correspondents in different cities across Iran and 36 regional agencies. During the visit to IRNA, the delegation of ATA was also informed on the performance in photo archives and digitalization.

Once More “Backing the Winning Horse” Doesn’t Work for the MKO

The new US administration under Donald Trump seem to be the ideal “Imperialism” for the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (the MKO/ MEK/ Cult of Rajavi). The recent belligerent steps of President Trump and his republican colleagues have been warmly welcome by the group. This “confrontation” cheers up the MKO propaganda websites because it is replaced by what they call “The Obama era policy of appeasing Tehran”. The group is hopeful to see its multi-million dollar lobbying campaign finally works.

However, one of the negative points of Trump administration criticized in the mainstream media is what the MKO is boastful of. “An official in U.S. President Donald Trump’s Cabinet and at least one of his advisers gave paid speeches to organizations linked to an Iranian exile group that killed Americans before the 1979 Islamic Revolution, ran donation scams and saw its members set themselves on fire over the arrest of their leader,” reported the Associated Press. [1]

The thoroughly investigated article written by Jon Gambrell of the Associated Press tends to stay unbiased and documented on the issue. The journalist has tried his best to quote all parts involved in the case. However, the audience can conclude that the MKO’s opportunists are seeking to take the attention of the US government by the cost of denying the fundamental values of their organization.

“A potential alliance with the MEK would link the U.S. to a group with a controversial history that has gone against American interests in the past by supporting Iran’s Islamic Revolution and the U.S. Embassy takeover in Tehran”, Jon Gambrell suggests. “After fleeing Iran, the MEK joined forces with Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.”

“The Mujahedeen have backed the winning horse. They are going to have some at least entree into the administration,” Ervand Abrahamian, the prominent historian and the professor at the City University of New York who wrote a book on the MEK, told gambrel. “I think it weakens the U.S. because the more they have access to the administration, the more people in Iran are going to be scared of anything the U.S. does.”

 What professor Abrahamian says about the opportunistic nature of the MKO was clearly seen during the 1979 revolution in Iran. They supported Ayatollah Khomeini, then they got more enthusiastic than the newly established Islamic Republic. They supported the takeover of the US embassy and eventually they opposed the release of the American Hostages by the Iranian government after 444 days.

By the way, professor Abrahamian’s assertion on the MKO is approved by Saeed Kamali Dehghan of the Guardian. He describes the MKO as “extremely unpopular in Iran” because “they fought alongside Saddam Hussain against Iran in the eight-year war in the 1980s.”

“The threat to Iran is not just from Trump but rather the combination of a reckless, ignorant leader, surrounded by hawks blind to nuances on the ground and bent on regime change,” Kamali writes about the MKO’s paid sponsors in the new administration. 

Besides the extreme unpopularity of the Cult of Rajavi among Iranian public opinion, it definitely has to deal with much bigger troubles in its way to buy attention of the US government. The insincerity of the group and its dark history is undeniable. Gambrell explains about the assassination of the US military personals and civilians by the MKO during the 1970s. However, he asserts that the group blames “a Marxist splinter faction of the group for killing the Americans.”

On the other hand, the associated Press correspondent quotes a once-secret 1981 CIA assessment on the group said “The Mujahedeen are xenophobic, Anti-Americanism and anti-imperialism provide cornerstones for the policies.”

Duplicity of the MKO is also indicated in its claim of having renounced violence. ”The MEK says it renounced violence in 2001,” writes Gambrell. “But the U.S. Army’s official history of the Iraq invasion in 2003 says MEK forces “fought against coalition forces” for the first weeks of the war, something the MEK denies.”

The article bases certain facts about the MKO on the RAND Corp. report prepared for the office of the U.S. defense secretary. According to the report, fourteen U.S. soldiers were killed and at least another 60 wounded escorting MEK members on supply missions. While the group propaganda denies all these true facts and blames the Iranian government for spreading “misinformation” against it, Gambrell replicates the famous sentence of the RAND report to describe the MKO propaganda: “SKILLED MANIPULATORS OF PUBLIC OPINION”.

Mr. Majid Rajabi Shahrestani defects MEK in Albania

Mr. Rajabi was in Turkey when the Mujahedin-e Khalq agents deceived him into joining the group under the false promises of better life and work opportunities in Europe.

Mr. Rajabi was then transferred to MKO Camps in Iraq. He lost 15 years of his life within the Mujahedin-e Khalq Cult camps. In 2016 he was relocated to Albania along with other MKO members.

In Tirana, Mr. Rajabi managed to liberate himself from the clutches of the Rajavis Cult.

Majid’s brother who is an active member of Nejat Society and tried a lot to save Majid says:

"We haven’t seen our younger brother in more than a decade due to the manipulation practices of a criminal cult. Majid is now 41. I am really happy for my brother. He finally managed to find his way and released himself from the anti-Iranian Cult of MKO …”

Mr. Mansour fadaei managed to liberate himself from the destructive cult of MKO in Tirana, Albania.

Mansour’s parents wrote a letter to their son on the occasion of his birthday which was published on Nejat Society Website. Hearing about the letter, Mansour became more determined to release himself from the mental and physical captivity of the group.

Mansour contacted his parent as soon as he defected the MKO Cult.  

While shedding tears of joy; Mansour’s parent went to the Nejat Society office and announced their dear son’s release from the terrorist, destructive cult of Mujahedin-e Khalq.

Iran arrests MKO ringleader in Isfahan

Iran’s security forces have arrested a ringleader of the terrorist Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO), who was seeking to create chaos during the funeral procession of a senior Iranian official in the capital Tehran.

Iranian media reported on Wednesday that the MKO member had been arrested the day before in the central city of Isfahan. The terrorist had been identified by Iranian security forces before entering the country, according to the reports.

The individual had come to Iran with the aim of creating chaos during the funeral of Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, who passed away on Sunday and was laid to rest on Tuesday.

Huge crowds of Iranian mourners from all walks of life turned out in Tehran for the funeral of the late chairman of Iran’s Expediency Council and two-time president. The funeral was also attended by senior political, military and religious figures.

The terrorist had reportedly recorded numerous videos for MKO-affiliated satellite channels.

The MKO, the most hated terrorist group among the Iranians, has carried out numerous terrorist attacks against Iranian civilians and government officials over the past three decades.

Out of the nearly 17,000 Iranians killed in terrorist assaults since the victory of Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution, about 12,000 have fallen victim to MKO’s acts of terror.

The terrorist group also sided with the former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, during Iraq’s eight-year imposed war against Iran in the 1980s. The group also helped Saddam in his brutal crackdown on his opponents.

Absurd Propaganda of the MKO and its Supporters on Syria

The endless propaganda of the Mujahedin Khalq (the MKO/ MEK/the Cult of Rajavi) seems to be running out of new ideas for its disinformation champagne against the Iranian government. The new so-called revelations published by the MKO and then echoed by the Washington Times on what they call “Iranian crimes and atrocities” in Syria, clearly indicates that the group is making too much effort to show itself off as a reliable source of intelligence on Iran. However, its recent propaganda was almost completely ignored by the mainstream media –except its two main paid western tribunes, the Washington Times and Fox News. [1]

Today, even the Western propaganda about Aleppo is denounced.  Peter Ford was the UK’s Ambassador to Syria from 2003 to 2006.In an interview with Radio BBC he challenges the West-run misinformation about conflicts in Syria. He criticizes the West for its wrong policy — to “have clung for too long to the illusion that the so-called ‘moderate opposition’ would overcome Assad”.  [2]

“Surely now, with the Government’s recovery of Aleppo, the veils should fall from our eyes and we should look reality in the face: Assad is not going to be removed by force of arms or at the negotiating table,” Peter Ford tells BBC. This is what frightens the MKO. While this British politician suggests that the West should stop supporting a failed and divided opposition and moreover the newly elected president of the Unites States Donald Trump is seeking a normalized relation with Russia and fighting against ISIS in Syria, the MKO agenda to demonize Tehran’s role in Syria is an already failed tactic. [3]

The MKO’s hasty propaganda shows its severe concerns about a normalized Iran-West relation. Massoud Khodabandeh, former MKO member and Director at Middle East Strategy Consultants write in the Huffington Post, “The MEK pretends it has some kind of insider knowledge which it can apparently tap into whenever it needs to make a point. Iran, however, has made no secret of its involvement in the Syrian conflict. Newspapers and state-run media probably tell us in much greater detail than the Washington Times report about the deployment of fighters and how they are funded. The dead from this conflict are mourned very publicly inside Iran. It is disingenuous of the MEK to merely recycle this information as a ‘revelation’.” [4]

Khodabandeh accurately labels the US journalists and officials who are deceived by the MKO propaganda as “gullible” but it should be noted that sometimes the biased media just seek to falsify facts in line with the agenda of certain politicians. “We’ve seen not what some allege to be a meltdown of humanity but a meltdown of sanity,” says Ford about the allegations of the West. “Where are, where’s any evidence of the alleged atrocities, of the Guernica, of the massacres, the genocide, the holocaust?” [5]

And about the fabrications made by the Cult of Rajavi on the Iranian government, Khodabandeh asserts, “the MEK is notorious for its role as a misinformation and propaganda outlet.” He denounces the MKO writing, “Variously over the years, the MEK has been exposed for false reporting and intelligence in issues such as the P5+1 nuclear negotiations with Iran. After passing one piece of genuine intelligence in 2002 which it was given by Mossad, the MEK continued to pass fake information to the IAEA so as to disrupt the negotiation process, and to enable the US to impose severe sanctions against Iran.” [6]

Although, the MKO tries “to muddy the waters of truth” and the West “flies in the face of reality” on the issue of Syria, the truth is concretely clear and verifiable.

Three members of the MKO Central Council defect the group in Albania

Three female members of the Mujahedin-e Khalq Central Council (Leadership Council) defected the Cult in Albania, Mr. Karami of Ayaran Website reported.

Two of these women are among senior commanders of the group. They defect the MKO after they were moved from Iraq to Albania.

These three women are held hostages in a clandestine place, according to the report.

Ms. Fatemeh Alizadeh is one of these recently defectors, the two others’ names will be published in a more suitable condition).

Ms. Alizadeh’s family’s attempts to make contact with her have been failed so far, since she has no access to the outside world and is held captive by the Cult.

Alizadeh family has written several letters to Fatemeh and the MKO Cult elements have replied some under the name of Fatemeh.

Mr. Zahedi’s Mother affirmed her son’s defection from the terror cult of MKO, happily. Shedding tears of joy, Ms. Zahedi stated:” I wished Abdolreza’s father was alive and we could share our happiness after long years of suffering..”

How dogmatism stop the production of thought in the MKO

There are certain characteristics such as dogmatism and close-mindedness in the sociological dimension of a cult. Cults believe that they alone have the truth and they are the only ones to interpret the religion or politics correctly.

When the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (the MKO/the cult of Rajavi) became committed to armed struggle and eventually fell into the trap of dogmatism, replacing tolerance with violence, the violence against enemies was gradually extended to the entire existence of the group, even its own members. Dogmatism of Massoud Rajavi was elevated to absolute truth. His dogma was accompanied with deeply embedded emotions that compelled his followers to unquestionably adopt him as the absolute power. As a demonstration of their loyalty, followers of Rajavi devoted their whole life including their family, personal properties and even their minds to him.

Massoud Rajavi’s deceptive political actions led to ideological dogmatism. This pushed his followers down to a path that has had disastrous results in terms of lost lives, lost personalities, suffering families and a lot more examples of violations of human rights.

Deprived of thinking capacity, MKO members form a bunch of beliefs in their minds; they protect their beliefs, preach them and never question them. From the point of view of a MKO member –a dogmatic thinker– anyone who does not share the same strong convictions is irrational and so an enemy, in other words, an agent of the Islamic Republic. Therefore, anyone in any side of the world with any kind of political view is labeled as the Iranian Intelligence agent if and only if he questions the MKO’s beliefs or acts.

Dogmatism is usually founded on fallacy. The arguments of a dogmatic character   are very narrow-minded and fanatic. He usually refuses to engage in arguments or to participate in talks. That’s why, none of the leaders of the Cult of Rajavi have been seen in TV talk shows or analytic media programs. Even if there are allegations about the group in reports of mainstream media you usually come across with this phrase by the journalist: “our calls to the group were not responded”!

The claims of a dogmatic person usually lacks evidence. For example, the so-called revelations of the MKO’s propaganda about the Iranian nuclear program almost always failed to present enough evidence. Although the MKO made efforts to repeat its fabrications on the so-called secret Iranian nuclear weapon sites, the world ignored it because it failed to support its claims with reliable evidences and often the group’s claims turned to be fake.

In March 2015, Jeffrey Lewis of the Foreign Policy denounced the MKO’s last alleged revelations on the Iranian Nuke as an evident effort to derail the then ongoing negotiations between Iran and the West. “Almost immediately, there were reasons to doubt NCRI’s claim”, Lewis writes. “A review of commercial satellite images reveals no evidence of large-scale excavation or tunneling during the 2004-2008 period identified by NCRI.” The author also quotes the State Department spokesman stating, “Well, we don’t have any information at this time to support the conclusion of the report.”

It definitely is a different world now from three decades ago that people’s access to the sources of information and knowledge was very limited. Today a quick google search and a lot more technical tools link people to a large source of information. However, nothing is absolute. Intellectuals know the truth and they are not naïve to accept dogmatic ideas. Cult of Rajavi is not able to deceive educated people any more. That is why so many members have disassociated themselves from the Cult.

The Rajavis should know that as far as they do not get engaged in true arguments, they will not produce thoughts and without thinking, they are inevitably in decline.

MKO hanging on the Trump administration?

The stunning victory of Donald Trump in the US presidential elections concerned his critics over his domestic and foreign policies. A large number of articles, op-eds and letters have recently been published to warn the audience about the risks of a US run by Donald Trump. Certain journalists and scholars have focused on the hardliners and warmongers who are likely to become a part of his administration. It is worth to know that in the majority of the articles, paid sponsorship for the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (the MKO) is considered as a negative point in the political life of figures like John Bolton, Rudolf Giuliani and Newt Gingrich who are supposed to be Trump’s Secretory of State or advisors.

Actually the double standard that divides terrorists to “good” and “bad” is the reason for enemies of the Iranian government to repeat the mantra "Iran is the biggest state sponsor of terrorism", ignoring Saudi Arabia’s financing of ISIS and supplying of suicide bombers and even ignoring the assassination of the American citizens by the MKO in the 1970s and furthermore ignoring the MKO suicide attacks during the 1980s and 90s –in fact the MKO operatives were the first suicide attackers in the history prior to Taliban, Al-Qaida and ISIS. Just because one group opposes your enemy, doesn’t mean they aren’t your enemy as well. The current situation in Syria has made that crystal clear. ISIS opposes Assad who is supported by Iran and opposed by the US, so is ISIS a US ally?

As the elected president Trump criticized the conduct of American foreign policy under the Bush administration and not only the Obama administration, for the wars in the Middle East, it is not improbable that his administration will be careful about fraudulent propaganda of MKO crisis mongers and their sponsors. The open letter of Justin Raimondo a Libertarian American Journalist and the editor of the Antiwar website to Donald Trump tries to exaggerate such antiwar stances taken by him in his speeches in the presidential campaigns. He writes, ”But, hey, I’m not just watch-dogging you – I’m heartened by your apparent decision to stop funding and supporting the Syrian Islamist terrorists Hillary told us are really “moderates.” We have no business trying to bring about “regime change” in Syria, or anywhere else, and the farther we stay away from that hellhole the better.” Raimondo also tries to put an egg in Trump’s hat by implying that another war will be the worst decision in American Foreign policy. ”I’m also very much encouraged by reports that you have no intention of ripping up the Iran deal. That’s exactly what you said during the campaign, but the media – particularly Fox News – wasn’t listening apparently. We don’t need another war in the Middle East: indeed, it’s the last thing we need,” he asserts. [1]

Eli Clifton of the Lobelog expresses his concern over the probable active role of the murderers of Americans in the next American administration. “If Lopez, Giuliani, Bolton, or Gingrich serve in the Trump administrations, the MEK will have the highest level access its ever enjoyed in the U.S. government, a remarkable journey for a fringe Islamic-Marxist group that, until 2012, was on the State Department’s terrorism list for its role in assassinating Americans,” he writes.[2]

American sponsors of the MKO have been paid by the group for the support they voice every now and then. “Throughout the first term of the Obama administration, Iranian American organizations with extensive links to the MEK paid prominent U.S. national security officials to speak on behalf of the group”, Josh Rogin reveals in the Washington Post. “They also contributed heavily to the campaign coffers of lawmakers on both sides of the aisle. The payments ran through the lobbying law firm DLA Piper, which passed the money through a speakers’ bureau that cut checks to the officials.” It should be taken in to consideration that the MMO was officially listed as a foreign terrorist organization at that time. Therefore, paid speakers have violated the law that prohibits American citizens from material support for terrorist entities.   [3]

“In March 2012, Giuliani traveled to Paris to speak at an MEK conference alongside the group’s secretive leader Maryam Rajavi. While there, he called the U.S. military base in Iraq where the United States wanted to relocate the MEK a “concentration camp.” Those comments later appeared in an MEK ad in the New York Times, according to josh Rogin. “That same month, the Treasury Department’s investigation into the payments made to American politicians became public when former Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell admitted that he had received a subpoena related to his work on behalf of the MEK. It’s illegal for American citizens to do business with a group designated as a foreign terrorist organization.” [4]

Regarding that the MKO have bought a large number of supporters among US politicians particularly the republican figures, it might be natural to be concerned about the next US government’s warmongering policies but how much the extent of such influence would be –if there is any influence.

The Huffington Post reported, a few days ago, that John Bolton –a top candidate to serve as President-elect Donald Trump’s secretary of state, is publicly calling for the U.S. to help overthrow the existing government in Iran. Bolton who was a hyper-hawkish supporter of the US-led military invasion to Iraq and has always recommended a military attack against Iran opposing the nuclear deal with Iran, “has no plans to tone down his adventurist foreign policy views, which run counter to Trump’s repeated promises to focus resources domestically and to avoid unnecessary entanglements abroad.” [5]

Bolton announces his new plan that has cheered the MKO up. He told Breitbart News Daily, “I think the people of Iran would long for a new regime. I don’t think the regime is popular, but I think it has the guns. And I think there are ways of supporting the opposition that does not involve the use of American military force that does involve helping the opposition to get a different kind of government.” His clear recommendation for arming the MKO seems terribly silly because it suggests the extent of his ignorance, mis-calculations, and mis-understanding about the MMO, the Iranian people and their view on the MKO. [6]

Arash Azizi of the Global Voice was one of the first journalists who warned about the disastrous advocacy for the notorious MKO. He suggests, “The links with MEK are a serious cause for worry, and the reason Iranians should be vigilant and make it clear that this cult doesn’t speak for the people of Iran, nor they are genuine advocates of democracy in the country.” [7] His assertion was then confirmed by Michael Rubin, former Pentagon official who is at the same time a harsh critic of Islamic Republic. [8]

“Still, it is important to remember that the MKO is a Marxist, authoritarian cult with minimal support inside Iran,” Rubin writes in commentary magazine. “Many Iranians view the MKO in the same way as Americans view John Walker Lindh, the American Taliban. That the MKO conducted terrorism which victimized ordinary Iranians has only solidified Iranian public opinion against the group even further.” [9]

Rubin also warns about the MKO propaganda, “The MKO’s rhetoric about democracy can be alluring, but if the goal of the Trump administration is to contain, weaken, and roll back the influence of the Islamic Republic, then outreach to the MKO is the worst possible move because it would rally Iranians around the flag and strengthen the current regime.” So, he comes to the conclusion that “the enemy of an enemy is not always a friend.” [10]
