On the afternoon of 23 June, 2012, Maryam Rajavi spoke in front of a group of foreign nationals most of whom have been paid to attend a salon in Villepinte in the north of Paris.
The MKO’s propaganda arm, National Council of Resistance called it “the largest Iranian pro-democracy gathering”! Organizers of the rally said that more than a thousand buses arrived bringing Iranians from all over Europe. But, the buses brought people not Iranians.
Rajavi’s gathering takes place every year to commemorate and glorify the start of the MEK’s terrorist campaign in Iran 31 years ago. The MEK’s HQ is in Auvers-sur-Oise in the Val-d’Oise, north of Paris. The people hired are invited and brought to Paris with the promise of sightseeing and visits to historical places by the Mojahedin Khalq Organization which is classed as a terrorist group by several countries including the USA.
The Rajavi cult has spent millions of Euros over the last few months through its agents in order to hire the necessary crowd.
On Tuesday, June 5, 2012 around noon, a group of Iranian residents in France gathered outside the courthouse in the square of St. Michael to deliver their protest against the terrorist Rajavi cult.
French Judges summoned the commanders of the Mojahedin to the courthouse to ask for explanations of the PMOI leaders on the issue of June 17, 2003 and other terrorist acts carried out by this organization on French territory and also in other European countries.
Purple flags and purple vests were waiting for people to take them in Villepinte, a hall in Parisian suburbs. Who is supposed to take these “Maryam & Massoud” – printed purple flags and vests? The Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) says “tens of thousands of Iranian”! A look at several pictures taken by some of the attendees verifies that the hall was –not fully– crammed by travelers of countries around Europe. Not a single photo shows a large group of Iranian exiles but one can see groups of black people, Afghans, Arabs, etc… The gathering was held after a long-term multi-million propaganda campaign publicized it. The MKO’s propaganda arm, National Council of Resistance called it “the largest Iranian pro-democracy gathering”! Organizers of the rally said that more than a thousand buses arrived bringing Iranians from all over Europe. But, the buses brought people not Iranians.
The MKO spokesman wrote a report of his organization’s so-called gathering .He presents a list of guest speakers who spoke at the event to call Secretary Clinton to remove the group from the FTO list of the State Department.It doesn’t seem odd that dozens of former Western politicians accepted a free first-class flight to Paris with a luxurious hotel room and tens of thousands of dollars for a 10 minute speech in a Parisian outskirt. For ordinary Afghan Arab or polish citizens a free bus-trip to French capital seems enough to wear those purple vests and wave those purple flags.
The world media should be careful about how to deal with the MKO and even how to name it. They should never call them Iranian dissidents or opposition group or exiles. Do they ever call Cambodia extremist followers of Pol Pot, “dissidents” or “activists”? Mujahedin e khalq are at best a group of zealous members of the cult around Massoud Rajavi’s personality who betrayed their countrymen to one of the most notorious dictators of the history, Saddam Hossein and unsurprisingly, lost the majority of its supporters.
The group propaganda machine had to work hard to magnify Villepinte gathering. Days before the event they publicized for the rally spending huge amounts of money to bring rented crowds to Paris. A week after the event held you can find on the group’s websites very few photos and highly edited videos of the gathering. You may see the 1300 buses the MKO propaganda claimed of but you never see who got off the buses, Iranian exiles or hired Arabs and black Africans.
The MKO’s last rally proves that the group’s impact and credibility has dwindled to a trickle and it is totally far from a pro-democracy popular political organization. Regardless of its prominent powerful western supporters, the MKO has no base among Iranians whether inside or outside Iran.

After the relocation of about 2000 people of camp Ashraf to the new Temporary Transit Location (Camp Liberty /Hurriya) the relocation process has been seemingly ceased by the MKO. The 
leaders of the group do not cooperate with Iraqi government , the UN and the US State Department any more.
The group leaders –apparently mad with the attorney for the US State Department who said that the US army has never been able to inspect Camp Ashraf to make sure it was disarmed — issued a statement and “invited” the State Department to inspect the camp.[1]
Besides, the MKO took a strong stance against the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative in Iraq, Martin Kobler. As usual, the group accused him of serving Islamic Republic of Iran and the government of Nouri al-Maliki.[2]
In its turn the US State Department issued a statement on June18, urging “immediate cooperation of Mujahidin Khalq with the Iraqi Government and UN”. The statement reads that the DOS remains concerned about the situation at camp Ashraf. Victoria Nuland, the spokesperson of the DOS, about the MKO’s recent “invitation for inspection”, said:”Constructive offers must be met with constructive spirit, and not with refusals or preconditions to engage in Dialogue.”She calls the group’s new pretext to stay in Ashraf as “an unnecessary distraction”.[3]
Why such reluctance again by the side of the MKO?
While the State Department believes that the Camp residents and their leadership – both in Iraq and in Paris – should recognize this path as a safe and humane resolution to this situation, the MKO leaders seem to oppose the complete closure of Ashraf and eventually their expulsion from Iraq. And, while the US Secretary of State has said that the camp closure is “a key factor in determining whether the organization remains invested in its violent past” [3] the MKO shows no sign of cooperation in order to comply with Iraqi government’s legal right — that is to sweep foreign forces off its territory.
Since the last convoy of Ashraf residents on May 5th there has been no convoy, according to senior US administration officials who attended a Special Briefing on June18, 2012. “Since that time, the MEK has curtailed its contacts both with the Iraqi Government but even with the UN, refusing to meet with Ambassador Martin Kobler, the head of the UN mission in Iraq.”[4]
The official believes that two probable reasons may have led the MKO to slow down its cooperation with the UN and the Iraq Government. “…there are two issues that have occurred to us. One, the MEK may have over-interpreted Iraqi politics and the possibility of a no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Maliki. That vote appears to be receding,.” he said.” A second reason is it may be an MEK over-interpretation and misunderstanding of the recent D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals ruling with respect to delisting.”[5]
However, the other official clarifies that the court has not told Secretary Clinton to delist the group and its leaders are “quite plainly, wrong”. the official concludes,” So it is time for the MEK to recognize that Ashraf is not going to remain an MEK base in Iraq.”[6]
What does the MKO propaganda do to fulfill the dream?
A delegation of Iraqi senior officials traveled to Europe to mobilize support for Camp Ashraf evacuation and secure transfer of the residents to Camp Liberty [TTL]. The delegation attended the meeting of the Relationship with Iraq Committee at the European Parliament. [7]
Iraqi Foreign Minister Undersecretary, Labid Abbawi proposed a statement about the meeting.”The meeting focused on the efforts made by the Iraqi Government in order to secure the transfer of Camp Ashraf residents to Camp Liberty in a peaceful manner and in accordance with international standards and in respect to human rights and international humanitarian law,” the statement said.[8]
Meanwhile the MKO’s propaganda arm, National Council of Resistance broadcasts the same event in a completely opposite way, claiming that the delegation is charged “to justify inhumane and suppressive behavior towards residents of Ashraf and Liberty.”[9]
The US administration official denounces the group’s propaganda by saying “We support the government considering people for refugee or otherwise bringing them in. Now, the United States is prepared to do its part. We take this obligation seriously. [10]
The MKO propaganda is all the time complaining of the “terrible “conditions of life at TTL. American officials, on the other hand, say that they follow condition at camp liberty in detail: ” We follow conditions at Camp Liberty in detail. We receive daily reports from the United Nations. We have an exact notion of the daily water supply. We know that it is – that each resident now receives about 200 liters per person per day of water. We follow the issues – we follow issues of electricity generation, problems with air conditioners, problems with sewage, that sort of thing. Medical treatment is available. The residents who need it are escorted to Baghdad hospitals. They’re allowed back. They’re given treatment. We follow this in great detail. “[11]
About complexities of MKO leaders’ approach towards the relocation issue, a US senior Official said,” We do not understand why, for example, they consider it in their interest to refuse contact with Martin Kobler, the head of the UN mission in Iraq, who, more than any other person, has – is responsible for the relative success of these relocations so far.” Of-course the official seems to find the answer- which is originated in the cult-like substance of the MKO. “They seem to be concerned with their organizational integrity”, he says.[12]
In order to maintain their integrity, the MKO resort to any probable pretext. The current political situation of Iraq appears to be a very little hope for the group to stay in its Iraqi headquarters Camp Ashraf where the forces are totally isolated from the world, obedient to their leaders. In response to a question posed by National Journal correspondent about the MKO’s possible strategy for the time being, the official said,” there is some evidence, and we – I would say that as an informed speculation, we believe the MEK may indeed calculate that a change of government in Iraq could rebound to their advantage, and they may be able – and they might be able to stay.
They do have some support among the Sunni politicians, but we believe that they are gravely mistaken to think that any Iraq – conceivable Iraqi government would, in fact, allow them to remain as a paramilitary organization in Iraq. We think that their time in Iraq is over.” [13]

An investigation by the US Treasury Department has indicated that the terrorist anti-Iran Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) is financially sponsored by Israel.
Some US officials suspect that the terrorist group is funded by Israel in return for conducting intelligence-gathering operations inside Iran and assassinating high-profile Iranian targets, including nuclear scientists.
It was about 3 months ago that US Treasury department appeared to begin an investigation to figure out the sources of payments offered to prominent former American officials over their 
speeches in support of the Mujahedin Khalq Organization . Americans are prohibited by law from doing business with designated terrorist groups.[1]
Besides, Security Council of the United Nations on September 28, 2001, issued Resolution 1373 calling on “all states to combat international terrorism". By resolution 1373 the council established a committee of the council "to monitor the resolution’s implementation and called an all States to report on actions they had taken to that end.”[2]
“the council also decided that States should prohibited their nationals and persons or entities in their territories from making funds, financial assets, economic resources, financial or other related services available to persons commit or attempt to commit, facilitate or participate in the commission of terrorist acts”, according to the resolution." States should also refrain from providing any form of support to entities or persons involved in terrorist acts; take the necessary steps to prevent the commission of terrorist acts, deny safe haven to those who finance, plan, support, commit terrorist acts and provide safe havens as well.”[3]
The resolution also calls on the states to intensify and accelerate the exchange of information regarding terror acts and forged or falsified documents made by terrorist groups. Thus, it doesn’t seem so difficult to figure out financial resources of the MKO if the US Treasury Department is truly concerned about them – and it must be concerned.
While the MKO’s spokesman Ali Safavi said the funds for the pro-MKO campaign come from Iranian Americans [4], there are various reports and testimonies on the group’s affluent resources.
According to the Guardian article, some US officials who suspect Safavi’s claim, say because of the amounts involved, money is coming from other sources, mostly likely Saudi Arabia and Israel.[5]
The report somehow confirms what former CIA official Philip Giraldi had previously revealed on the MKO-Israel relationship-both financial and military.”The group appear to have ample financial resources, and it is generally believed that at least some of the money comes from Mossad,” he writes.” the MEK is able to place full-page ads in major US newspapers and is also known to pay hefty speaker’s fees to major political figures who are willing to speak publicly on its behalf.”[6]
Justin Raimondo, the editor of antiwar.com finds it fair to ask where all this unaccounted for cash is coming from. "while the Rajavi-ites use the familiar methods employed by cults to strip their members of all their assets -see the AlJazeera video for a heart-rending account of how a major MEK spokesman ripped off his own elderly parents- it seems likely that, during their sojourn as Saddam Hussein’s favorite assassins, the MEK received compensation from the Iraqi dictator for slaughtering the Kurds and other regime opponents so efficiently and ruthlessly,” Raimondo asserts. He concludes that those former US officials are actually “recipients of Saddam’s gold.”[7]
It sounds that Saddam Hussein has been the group’s basic financial resource including funds illegally siphoned from the UN Oil-for-Food program until the fall of Iraqi dictator in 2003.[8] The report is confirmed by testimonies of former members of the group. Mrs. Maryam Sanjabi, a former member of the MKO’s elite council said that based on agreements held between MKO ringleaders and Iraq’s officials in 1987,saddam’s regime allocated the revenues gained from selling 50000 barrels per day of oil to the MEK in addition to arms and logistic, reported FNA.[9]
Sanjabi revealed that the group used to smuggle the Iraqi oil supplies to foreign markets after Kuwait war and the UN oil embargo against Saddam’s regime! the group used its front companies to sell Iraqi oil. Ali Hussein Nezhad who was Rajavi’s Private interpreter in the MKO, escaped the group in late April. Immediately after his defection, he published an announcement in which he denounces the “cult of Rajavi” . regarding the group’s financial resources, Hussein Nezhad writes:”As we see, Rajavi’s claims of Iranian’s financial support for the group and all his tricks in fundraising programs are shallow and just like a cover to hide the oil resources they plundered from Iraqi people; like a justification to whiten their multi-million operating cost.”[10]
He reveals facts of Saddam’s generosity towards Massoud Rajavi:”in his last visit with Saddam Hussein in August 2000, Rajavi asked Hussein to increase his oil share up to 100 thousand barrels a day (3 million barrels a month), according to documents and letters I translated or reports composed by his closest comrades that I could read.”
He explained how the MKO managed to turn Saddam’s gifts into dollars: ”Rajavi received his oil share in coupons which were then sent to Europe to be changed into dollars.”[11]
Rajavi’s quota from Iraqi oil also included other amounts of oil funneled to his cult by Saddam Hussein out of UN Oil for Food program, according to Hussein Nezhad.[12]
Naturally, the MKO revenue from oil resources was invested in European banks and industry, the former MKO member revealed.
Considering various reports and testimonies on the group’s financial resources, it actually seems simple to discover the origins of their funds. It won’t be so difficult to find the affiliated companies working with this terrorist designated group and definitely simple to prove the felony committed by their material supporters.

Overwhelmed with the Mujahedin Khalq’s money, Capitol Hill is on the verge of delisting the group. Who is next to getting delisted? Al-Qaida? Definitely by delisting the MKO, hypocrisy will be 
raised to a higher level in the “land of double standards”. Naturally we should wait for the removal of other Foreign Terrorist Organizations from the list at the proper time!
And soon the so-called former terrorists would be mercenaries fighting against America’s enemies.
Regarding the powerful campaign of deception and propagandas of the MKO, Chris McGreal of Guardian writes about the group’s lobby in the US Congress:”A banned terrorist group is conducting what members of the congress describe as the most effective lobbying campaigns seen on Capitol Hill, winning support from politicians even in the face of a government investigation of its legality" .[1]He points out the subpoenas issued by the Treasury Department to investigate whether campaign amounts to material support for terrorism. The reason for such an investigation, according to McGreal is “the openness of the campaign and the large amounts of money backing it, with donations to congressional campaign funds and large payments for speeches in support of the MEK”.[2]
While the MKO says the funds for the group campaign come from Iranian Americans, ”there are some US officials who suspect that because of the amounts involved , money is also coming from other sources, mostly like Saudi Arabia or Israel".[3]
Referring to the famous report by Semour Hersh [3]on secret military training offered to MKO operative by US joint Command of Special Operation Forces– another level of US hypocrisy–Justin Raimondo of editor of Antiwar website concludes that “the MEK were turned over to the Mossad, who utilized them to carry out the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists in Iran.”[4]
As a cult of personality, the MKO’s leadership has not changed. They – Maryam and Massoud Rajavi – are the same people as when they cooperated with Saddam Hussein to suppress Kurds’ and Shiites’ uprising in Iraq. and, the world never forgets previous experiences of duplicity in US policy when George W. Bush said,” I’ve set a clear doctrine :America makes no distinction between the terrorists and the countries that harbor them. If you harbor a terrorist, you’re just as guilty as the terrorists, and you are an enemy of the United States of America.”[5]
George Bush even named “MEK” as a pretext to invade Iraq, in September 2002.[6]
Today a terrorist designated organization is freely moving around the Capital Hill to run their cause “There is an awful lot of MEK cash slashing around the halls of congress, and the cultists haven’t been shy about handing it out,” Raimondo states.[7]
The Mojahedin Khalq Organization is the same FTO listed group that the US States Department has gathered the following information about to verify its status as a terrorist entity:
“the MEK trained females at Camp Ashraf in Iraq to perform suicide attacks in Karbala”;”The MEK solicits money under the false pretext of humanitarian aid to the Iranian people”;”an August 2008 US Intelligence Community Terrorist Threat Assessment clearly states that the MEK retains a limited capability to engage in Terrorist activity or terrorism”;”the MEK “publicly renounced violence in 2001,but limited intelligence reporting indicates that the group has not ended military operations, repudiated violence, or completely or voluntarily disarmed;”the intelligence community “assesses that although there has not been a confirmed terrorist attack by the MEK since the organization surrendered to coalition Forces in 2003,the MEK retains a limited capability and intent to use violence to achieve its political goals;”and “UN inspectors say that much of the information provided to the UN by the MEK about Iran’s nuclear program has a political purpose and has been wrong.”[8]

Iran nuclear threat! It was first propagated by fear monger propaganda arm of the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO): National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) in August 2002.Since
then the group has focused its multi-million propaganda and lobbying campaign in the US and Europe on spreading the same undocumented intelligence.
The MKO’s new propaganda report on Iranian nuclear program is another futile effort to regain the credit it attained nine years ago when it once revealed Iran’s nuclear program. The group has several times repeated those allegations or tried to apparently launch new cases of crisis between Iran and the West.
Regarding the current situation of the MKO weather in Iraq or in the international community, you may find out the critical difficult conditions the group leaders are stuck in.
The fifth group of Ashraf residents moved to Temporary Transit Location (Camp Liberty) last week while the group leaders are working hard to change TTL into a refugee camp which would be eventually handled by the United Nations instead of the Iraqi government.
Writing letters to the UN and ICRC, they ask that TTL be considered as an asylum seeking camp. They condemn Martin Kobler, UN special representative in Iraq for he considers TTL as a standard transit site. The MKO leaders strategically label anyone who doesn’t get along with their goals as agents of Islamic Republic.
The recent so-called revelations on a facility in Iran for building nuclear warheads neither caused motivation to investigate the case nor concerned the world but it was faced with doubt. A top US expert David Albright, head of an influential Washington-based think tank ton Iran’s nuclear work and has access to sensitive intelligence said the NCRI report, like previous ones, should be treated with great skepticism according to Reuters. [1]
Considering the annoying fact -for the MKO leaders- that last month’s nuclear negotiations between Iran and the EU foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton went approximately well, the MKO is right to fear the outcome of future talks including the one on May23. The report of Reuters on the issue also reads:”its latest report, whose details could not be verified, appeared timed to encourage a tougher line at talks with Iran the UN nuclear watchdog will have in Vienna on Monday and Tuesday and six world powers will hold in Baghdad on May23.”[2]
In addition, the MKO panics the US State Department’s alarming decision on its terrorist designation. The leaders of the group think of new alleged revelations for flirting US government. Justin Raimondo of antiwar website also writes of the appropriate time for warmonger’s campaign.
“yet it’s all about the timing: as the US-Iran nuclear talks loom, the prospect of our State Department in effect legalizing the MEK and its activities in the US is an open provocation that could possibly shut down the sensitive negotiations-and pave the way for war with Iran”, he writes.” no doubt hardliners within the Obama administration are using the MEK issue as a backdoor way to torpedo the Baghdad talks whether they will succeed remain to be seen.”[3]
The so-called revealing report on Iranian explosive building site includes a satellite photo marked by some arrows and circles alleging that the building is suspected to contain an explosive chamber! Albright told Reuters :”We have to be extremely skeptical of whatever they say.” He asserts that the NCRI’s intelligence information has no evidence and one cannot verify its accuracy. [4]
As an independent American Journalist, Madison Ruppert writes,” not a single one of these claims can be substantiated.”[5]
Ruppert denounces the MKO’s tactic in document making “Interestingly, the document took a tactic right out of the US government playbook – creating diagrams supposedly showing the hidden command structure, scientists and engineers involved in this alleged secret program”, he reveals.[6]
Gotten along with their warmonger supporters, the MKO does not hesitate to try any tricks that might prolong its existence whether in Iraq or in the West. The tricks may include justifications for another war in the Middle East. Rajavi’s Chalabi style revelations definitely hopes for Iranian version of Iraqi National Congress probably called National Council of Resistance, in future Iran. ”That sounds much like the completely fraudulent diagrams and drawings created in order to trick people into buying justification for invading Iraq,” Maddison Ruppert suggests. [7]
