Editor’s note: The following is a response to an op-ed by former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, "Team Obama keeps miscalculating Iran — ‘change’ under Rouhani is a mirage" that appeared in Fox News Opinion on May 7.

Mr. Guiliani’s warm embrace of the MEK terrorist organization is shocking and deplorable.

Journalists and think tanks across the world have sounded the alarm regarding the "cult-like" practices of the MEK, such as forcing members to give up their children in order to dedicate more time to the cause, and their decades long reign of terror and brutality has been well established by many including the U.S. Department of State when it designated it as terrorist organization in 1997 while describing it as a "repressive cult despised by most Iranians and Iraqis."

But through what the RAND Corp. called "cultic practices and its deceptive recruitment and public relations strategies" as well as giving millions of dollars to politicians and lobbyists in Washington — where it seems everyone has a price tag as campaign donation or "speakers fees," the MEK managed to get itself removed from the list.

It also should be noted that this group supported Saddam Hussein during the Iran-Iraq war and played a major role in the violent crackdown on the civilian uprising in the early 90s while living in Iraq as a private militia for Saddam Hussein.

The people of Iraq despise them and want them out, as well they should.

MKO Ringleader Orders Execution of Defected Members

The ringleader of the terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO, also known as MEK, NCRI or PMOI), Maryam Rajavi, has issued an order for the assassination and execution of any member who intends to defect the group, media reports revealed on Saturday.

Rajavi in a message two weeks ago branded those MKO members trying to defect the group as enemy and also called for murdering them, informed sources disclosed to the Persian-language Ashraf News website.

She has asked the MKO ringleaders in Camp Liberty to gather intelligence and find out who intends to defect the group.

Many of the MKO members have abandoned the terrorist organization while most of those still remaining in the group are said to be willing to quit but are under pressure and torture not to do so.

A recent Human Rights Watch report accused the MKO of running prison camps in Iraq and committing human rights violations.

According to the Human Rights Watch report, the outlawed group puts defectors under torture and jail terms.

The MKO, founded in the 1960s, blended elements of Islamism and Stalinism and participated in the overthrow of the US-backed Shah of Iran in 1979. Ahead of the revolution, the MKO conducted attacks and assassinations against both Iranian and Western targets.

The group started assassination of the citizens and officials after the revolution in a bid to take control of the newly-established Islamic Republic. It killed several of Iran’s new leaders in the early years after the revolution, including the then President, Mohammad Ali Rajayee, Prime Minister, Mohammad Javad Bahonar and the Judiciary Chief, Mohammad Hossein Beheshti who were killed in bomb attacks by MKO members in 1981.

The group fled to Iraq in 1986, where it was protected by Saddam Hussein and where it helped the Iraqi dictator suppress Shiite and Kurd uprisings in the country.

The terrorist group joined Saddam’s army during the Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-1988) and helped Saddam and killed thousands of Iranian civilians and soldiers during the US-backed Iraqi imposed war on Iran.

Since the 2003 US invasion of Iraq, the group, which now adheres to a pro-free-market philosophy, has been strongly backed by neo-conservatives in the United States, who argued for the MKO to be taken off the US terror list.

In September 2012, the last groups of the MKO terrorists left Camp Ashraf, their main training center in Iraq’s Diyala province. They have been transferred to Camp Liberty transient facility near Baghdad.

Rubin: MKO neither progressive nor non-violent

The Israeli Clarion Project has National Council of Resistance of Iran, the front organization of the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK, a.k.a. MKO), on its list of “progressive Muslim organizations.”

Describing the move as “surprising,” Commentary Magazine’s Michael Rubin wrote that the MKO may be a lot of things, but it is “neither progressive nor is it non-violent.”

The Clarion Project is an institute founded by Rabbi Raphael Shore. Obsessed with the promotion of Iranophobia and Islamophbia, it has produced such films as Iranium and Obsession.

“Progressive movements tend not to dictate to women who to marry and who to divorce,” he added, referring to the mandatory divorces in the cult of MKO.

“It attached itself to Saddam Hussein and allowed itself to be used almost as a mercenary organization against both Kurds and Iraqi Shi’ites.” According to 1994 US State Department report on the MKO, Masoud Rajavi, the ringleader of the MKO which is in hiding for years, announced the formation of the National Liberation Army (NLA), the military wing of the MKO, which conducted raids into Iran during the latter years of the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war. The NLA’s last major offensive reportedly was conducted against Irai Kurds in 1991, when it joined Saddam brutal repression of the Kurdish rebellion.

“To accept the Mujahedin-e Khalq as a moderate organization is analytically shallow given the group’s record of behavior, its dishonesty in its written work, its past targeting of Americans, and the fact that its rhetoric about democracy does not match its practice.”

I am Abdulkarim Ebrahimi, 47, from Ilam, Iran. I left the Mujahedin Khalq Organization in 2012, after 24 years of imprisonment behind the bars of the anti-Iranian cult. I could manage to escape the MKO after

Before my escape, when I was in Camp Ashraf, I had several times asked for permission to leave the organization but not only the MKO leaders refused my request, but also they verbally abused me, humiliated and mentally tortured me.

In 1994, after 5 years of membership in the group, together with a large number of other members, I was imprisoned by the cult authorities, under the pretext that they didn’t trust us. We were jailed in a prison in Camp Ashraf where we were physically and mentally tortured. I recall one of my fellow prisoners whose head had been entirely swelled due to severe beatings.

I entered the MKO in 1989 after I was deceived by the phony promises of the group. As soon as I arrived in the MKO, I found myself as a hostage in a inhumane cult where I even didn’t have the right to think freely. Any kind of socializing with others was forbidden as a “plot”. Members were under a 24-7 controlling system that forced them to attend daily and weekly sessions of inquisition. During these sessions members had to confess their thought and dreams, even sexual ones, in front of others. I myself was humiliated and verbally abused in these meetings several times.

The leaders of the MKO – who all the time claim that Camp Liberty is like a prison – are the main people who turned the MKO Camps into a prison. The MKO prison is so exceptional that its prisoners – the same members – are not allowed to contact their families, either by phone of by letter. They have no access to the Internet and other mass-media. They are forbidden to visit their loved ones. They have no news of the outside world but prisoners in the whole world, even under the worst dictatorships, at least are allowed to visit their families or even take a few days off to go home.

The MKO camps have been turned into a horrible jail because: relations and conditions are very oppressive, and tyranical, under cult-like practices members are manipulated, they are kept in an absolute ignorance, celibacy is obligatory, children are separated from their parents, emotional relations are forbidden as well as sexual relations, there is no access to mobile, Radio, TV, newspapers and the Internet. News, books and films are filtered by the cult authorities.

Therefore, I ask the United Nations Organization and the families of Liberty residents to try their best for salvation of my former friends who are still taken as hostages in the cult of Rajavi. In order to release them, the presence of residents’ families in Iraq is vital.

Mr. Nouri Al Maliki as you are well informed that the leader and the notorious guru of this cult in his recent message to the members of this cult , has ordered that in the case of evacuation of the Liberty-camp , each day 100 members of

pmoi should set themselves on fire for his sake . we received this message from our friends in Liberty camp regarding to this subject through your security guards in Liberty Camp which the message was handed over to them so the authenticity of this message is hundred percent .

Unfortunately the leaders of this notorious cult have forced their members to sign their readiness to set themselves on fire and kill themselves in this regard.

Some of our friends in Camp Liberty had sent us a letter through the Iraqi security guards in camp liberty which we would like to share it with you . This letter has been translated in english .

First of all , we are very delighted that you could manage to rescue yourselves from the hellish cult of Rajavi. Second of all we do not want to mention our names because we are not sure that the letter will reach to your hands or not and maybe the letter will be taken from us by pmoi operatives and in this case we do not want to put ourselves in trouble and danger by mentioning our names in this letter so please forgive us that the letter is anonymous . we want just to inform you that in camp liberty a red alert has been issued by Massoud Rajavi because he has ordered that in case of expulsion orwithdrawal from Liberty camp, at least 100 persons or more should set themselves on fire everyday till the international societies prevent their expulsion . He said that ,this is a military order like the order of the eternal light military operation and he mentioned that even Maryam Rajavi herself has declared her readiness to be with you on the battle ground.

After his order , the pmoi operatives broadcast a sound of tick tack of a clock through a megaphone and they told us this red alert has just started ! then the pmoi operatives gave us a paper to write our readiness for self immolation and some of the pmoi commanders stood up and shouted out loud ,ready , ready, ready to force and provoke others to declare their readiness .

We are urging you to be our voice and convey our message to the ICRC, UNHCR, UN, Human Rights societies and …….. etc as soon as possible because we are living in a situation that some members may set themselves on fire in any moment !

Open Letter to Mr. Ben Emmerson, the UN special rapporteur on human rights

Dear Mr. Emmerson,

I am Mehdi Sojoudi a victim of the the Iranian MEK/PMOI (Rajavi’s Cult). I had spent 20 years of my life in this organization before defecting to Europe, where I now live. I would like to ask you to investigate the grave violations of human rights in MEK/PMOI and at the same time help release the enslaved members of this cult in Camp Liberty in Baghdad, Iraq and dispatch these victims to third countries.

As a victim and surviving witness of this Cult, I’d like to bring to your attention some human rights abuse practiced in MEK/PMOI.

– For more than 2 decades marriage is forbidden and with orders from the cult’s leader, Masoud Rajavi, all married couples were forced to separate and divorce.

– The leader of the cult called “family as the heart of corruption” and thus, many Families and family life were disintegrated and young children were taken away from parents and dispatched abroad.

– Any direct or indirect communications with family members have been forbidden for many years and members are deprived of any means of communications such as phones, internet, etc.

– Due to imposed isolation by the leaders, members are not in touch with the outside world. There is a systematic censorship imposed. There is no access to news and media outlets such as TV or radio or internet.

– Members who try to question or oppose these inhuman conducts are harshly suppressed. During Sadam Hussain’s rule in Iraq, many opponents of Rajavi were tortured and even executed inside MEK camps.

– Despite propaganda made by the leaders of MEK/PMOI that they defend women’s rights and equality, ironically women in this cult have suffered the most. After forcing women members to get divorced, Rajavi made many women to marry him and in fact set up a Harem for himself in his cult.

– Inside Rajavi’s cult, children have been widely abused, too. For many years children and under 18s in MEK/PMOI have been given military and ideological training and have been used to carry out acts of terrorism.

– MEK/PMOI has a long bloody history of terrorism ranging from attacking innocent civilians inside Iran to killing Iraqi Kurds minorities during Sadam Hussain’s rule in Iraq.

– There is a systematic daily mind manipulation and brain washing program carried out by the cult’s hierarchy on members. These victims have neither the right of choice to decide their own destiny nor the right of freedom of expression.

– In many circumstances until very recently, members are forced to go through hunger strikes. These human beings are abused systematically and misused as tools by the leaders.

As a living witness and having mentioned some aspects of the widespread human rights violations inside this cult – that claims is fighting for freedom and human rights for Iran –

I call on you and your good office to do all you possibly can to help the victims of MEK /PMOI cult to be transferred to third countries so that they can enjoy a free life, away from the suppression and humiliation they are subjected to inside MEK/PMOI and away from the everyday bloodshed and threats in Iraq.

Help rescue refugees from the traps of MKO terrorists

The latest reports from Albania are that eleven new people have arrived there.

However, ex members who are living separately from the MEK in Tirana are saying that the UNHCR representative in Albania has told them they will not be given refugee status and will get no passport. Some commentators believe the UN has been pushed by the MEK to annoy members just as they pushed American army to annoy members who wanted to transfer from Camp Ashraf to the TIPF.

The ex members were told ‘if the Albanian government gives you something, good luck! Otherwise, tough!’

Interestingly this report also says that immediately after the UN visit, Esmail Mortezai from the MEK, who claims to be working under the protection of the Pentagon, approached them and told the ex members “Don’t worry. To Hell with the UN and the rest of them! Come back to us and we will take you to European countries as we always have done”.

The UNHCR representative had also told them that their accommodation was limited to four months and after that they will have to either pay for it or go.

Again the MEK immediately stepped in and said, “We will take care of it ourselves”. Other reports say that the police in Tirana and the MEK themselves have placed CCTV and guards around their accommodation. The ex members believe this is to put pressure on them to either go back to the MEK or run away by themselves to escape the country, which is very dangerous. Even so, several have declared they will chose the second option and have asked the others to speak out on their behalf if they are killed along the way.

On top of this, the Albanian government has told the ex members that, “Although people from the MEK are free to talk to you, and you have to talk to them because they are taking care of you, your families from Iran are not allowed to come to visit you”. Many organisations and other ex members in the west have written to Albania and the UN to ask “is the UNHCR working for Esmaili Mortezai, the MEK and Mossad, or is it supposed to help rescue refugees from the traps of terrorists?”

Human Rights Abuse in the MEK

Please help us stop Human Rights abuse in Mojahedin

Open Letter to Ben Emmerson, QC.

Dear Mr. Ben Emmerson, QC

My name is Mehdi Nikbakht, I am one of the survivors and ex members of Mojahedin Khalq (MKO, MEK, PMOI, Rajavi cult). I have first hand experience of the cultish relationships inside the MEK.

Your long term activities as a Human Rights advocate and your responsibilities as the UN special rapporteur on human rights has brought me to write this letter to your good self appealing for help. Me and many of my friends have been the direct subject of human rights abuse inside this organisation (cult). We need help to achieve justice.

I take this opportunity to bring to your attention some brief explanations.

The Mojahedin Khalq (MEK) tries to portray a democratic, freedom loving, pro-human rights and pro-women’s rights face in the west. The reality, and what we have seen from the inside of this organisation is 180 degrees contrary to this claim. We have never seen anything but suppression and injustice. The leaders of MEK harshly crush any voice of criticism and they go to extreme extents to silence the voice of the survivors and ex members. They constantly spend money and energy to character assassinate and intimidate the vocal critics and survivors by calling them mercenaries, agents, traitors, etc. they try to dismiss their testimonies about the reality of the crimes they have suffered themselves and/or have seen at the hands of MEK leaders.

Inside the MEK cult no one has the right to have a spouse or family and even thinking about it is a severely punished crime. Members are regularly forced to write and announce their most intimate thoughts in front of large audiences and the audience is to shout and swear at the person.

Inside the MEK no one has the right to contact their families in any shape or form. Even mothers and fathers who come to Iraq from Iran with all the risks and hardships are not given permission (by MEK leaders) to meet their children. Some of these people have not seen their families for over 25 years.

Inside the MEK harsh forced labour, together with a regime of inquisition, has taken away the critical minds of the members. They can no longer think properly and normally. Their every day life is confined to a restricted, forced, mental and physical circle. They no longer decide for themselves about anything. It is the leaders who decide for them.

Leaving the organisation (cult) is forbidden and no one is free to choose. Being inside the cult is forcefully compulsory.

And there are hundreds more similar cases.

Dear Mr. Ben Emmerson. You know more than anyone that each and every one of these cases specially in this day and age is in direct contradiction with the recognised freedoms of individual and is an abuse of their human rights. The same human rights you have been so passionate about and have, and are, working so hard for. The Mojahedin Khalq (MEK) have been keeping thousands of people trapped in their camps for decades. Before the fall of Saddam Hussein, they were able to imprison and torture people inside their camp for crimes as simple as asking to leave the organisation and return to normal societies. After the fall of Saddam, the MEK leaders insisted on not leaving Iraq to the point of deliberately sending some members to their deaths, which had no effect and still the Iraqi Government is adamant that they should leave. They have now been moved to Camp Liberty which has been attacked a few times by terrorist groups and in this camp some of the members have again been sacrificed for the unlawful demands of the cult leaders. The MEK leaders do not want the trapped people to be moved to third countries and deliberately resist any attempt to facilitate such a transfer. They see this as an end to their cultish organisation and more than that, are afraid of the people reaching European countries where they can start exposing the real nature of the organisation and what has happened to them. They are afraid of the truth coming out.

Dear Mr. Ben Emmerson,

What I have explained here is no more than a very brief example of what is happening. Our claims are certainly backed by a huge amount of documents and evidence, as well as the testimony of many of my friends who have managed to get themselves to European countries. Me and my friends are ready to meet in person and explain in detail and clarify any question in this regards.

I urge you to investigate the abuses of human rights, women’s rights, individuals’ freedom, etc. inside the MEK, and as I mentioned we are ready to provide the documents and evidence at any time and any place you wish. We need your expertise and we need your help to bring a condemnation against these practices and certainly to stop the continuation of it against the trapped hostages inside the MEK.

Albania

MKO high-rankings in Albania to keep relocated members under surveillance

Another 11 MKO members set foot in Albania

Another 11 members of the anti-Iran terrorist Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) have been transferred to Albania from Iraq.

Informed sources at the UN office in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, said the group, comprised of 10 women and a man, had resided in Camp Liberty in Iraq before being transferred to Albania.

Meanwhile, three leaders of the terrorist organization have also arrived in the European country from France to keep relocated members under closer surveillance.

The MKO is listed as a terrorist organization by much of the international community and has committed numerous terrorist acts against Iranians and Iraqis.

The group fled Iran in 1986 for Iraq, where it received the support of Iraq’s executed dictator Saddam Hussein and set up Camp Ashraf near the Iranian border.

Out of the nearly 17,000 Iranians killed in terrorist attacks since the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, 12,000 have fallen victim to the acts of terror carried out by the MKO. The group also sided with Saddam during Iraq’s eight-year war on the Islamic Republic.

In December 2011, the United Nations and Baghdad agreed to relocate some 3,000 MKO members from Camp New Iraq, formerly known as Camp Ashraf, to the former US-held Camp Liberty.

The last group of the MKO terrorists was evicted by the Iraqi government on September 11, 2013 to join the other members of the terrorist group at Camp Liberty and await potential relocation to other countries.

Last March, then Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha announced in a statement that the Albanian government is ready to accommodate 210 members of the MKO group in Tirana.

Nearly 160 MKO terrorists had been previously granted asylum by the Albanian government.

MKO threatens French group protesting their presence in France

A French group which warns against violent cults recently faced the dangers of the Mujaheedin-e Khalq Organization, an anti MKO threatens French group protesting their presence in France Iranian terrorist group whose leadership is based just outside of Paris. Association PEACE bravely held a demonstration in the MKO’s hometown, and was quickly confronted by the routine violence of their members.

Association PEACE studies cults and warns people to prevent further indoctrinations and more ruined lives. Considering that the MKO is composed of Iranian citizens who fought alongside Iraq in the Iran-Iraq War, many are painfully aware of their violent history. But Association PEACE says many French people are kept in the dark. Despite the mass graves recently uncovered at the MKO’s Camp Ashraf in Iraq, their massacre of Iraqi Kurds for Saddam Hussein and the assassination of Iranian citizens and leaders, the MKO still has friends in high places. Those friends do not include any Iranian citizens, but they do include France’s political elite.

Fact Corner

The anti-Iran terrorist group the M-K-O has tried for years to whitewash its bloody and treacherous past, and they have even been removed from the terrorist list of the European Union and the United States. But when they were confronted with a demonstration against their presence in France, members of the group resorted to their usual violent tactics.
