Five Camp Liberty residents fled the Cult

Five MKO members residing in Temporary Transit Location, Iraq managed to escape the Camp at dawn Sunday and surrendered themselves to the security forces, Ashraf News reported.

Mohammad Salman Al-Asadi; a security officer responsible for Camp Liberty protection quoted the escapees that they had planned for the escape months before.

The five are handed over to the United Nation’s office, Al-asadi added.

The names of the escapees are as follows:

Mohammad and Massoud Enayati, Bayez Ali Keshawarzi, Hussein Bahari and Jawad Reza Yousefi.

Is the MKO Moving to the US?

He was a teenager when he was distributing fliers for the Mujahedin Khalq Organization in the early 1080s in Tehran. Morteza Assadi used to be a member of the MKO that "opposed the government of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and the U.S. government at one time considered a terrorist organization". The affiliation of this 49-year-old real estate agent in northern Virginia with the terrorist MKO cult has left him in a sort of immigration purgatory while his green card application has been on hold for more than a decade. Assadi’s case has remained stalled although he has told the US government that he was never an active member or contributor to the MKO activities. [1] Now, what if the US administration grants asylum to the 3000 MKO members residing in Camp Liberty Iraq despite their official membership in a cult-like group which has once been designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization?

As the MKO well-funded lobbying campaign succeeded to get the group removed from the FTO list, it is now lobbying for moving its forces to the United States territory. "In what has become an all-too-familiar sight on Capitol Hill, at least a half-dozen members of the exiled Iranian group Mujahedin-e Khalq, or MEK, arrived at Thursday [March 11th]’s hearing of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, all dressed in their trademark yellow shirts," reported Christina Wilkie of the Huffington Post. [2]

In response to the question by "most vocal" supporter the MKO’s relocation in America, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, the Us secretary of State John Kerry said "in his typically diplomatic way", “There’s one solution to the problem [of the MEK], and that is that we need to relocate those folks,” although he added that their moving to the US is " one of the things" they are looking at. [3]

Moving folks of a formerly designated terrorist group to the land of 9/11 incidence is no easy as Wilkie states, administration officials privately suggest that Rohrabacher’s bill, and any other efforts to grant asylum to the MEK in the United States, face nearly insurmountable odds.[4]

The decade long efforts of the UN, US, and Iraq to relocate the MKO remnants indicate that the process of moving them to third countries has become an international issue due to the group’s long time history of violence and terror. For the United States, the case of the MKO asylum seekers seems to be more sensitive, firstly because of the group’s involvement in the killing of 6 US citizens during the 1970s and secondly, because of their ardent support for the US embassy takeover in 1979, in Tehran.

“The policy concern with asylum is what kind of precedent that might set for the future. By those standards, the MEK isn’t looking very good,” the US official told the Huffington Post correspondent. Wilkie also refers to more than 135,000 Syrian asylum seekers that only 31 were admitted in the last fiscal to illustrate how limited U.S. asylum policy is in practice. [5]

Following the gradual relocation process, up to now not more than two hundred MKO members have been moved to Albania, Germany, and Italy. However, the US government is willing to use its influence over Eastern European countries. It plans to move the remaining 3000 residents of Liberty to Romania, according to the Voice of Russia.

The alleged decision ”may turn Romania into a hotbed of tension, which will prove quite a headache both to Romania proper and the neighboring countries”. Ilya Kharlamov of the VOR writes, "When the US State Secretary John Kerry met with his Romanian counterpart Titus Corlaţean in Brussels in December, they took up the issue of moving the Mujahedin in question to Romania, according to some reports." Actually, third countries are reluctant to receive a large group of people who as the Russian expert an expert with the Moscow-based Institute for Strategic Studies and Analysis, Sergei Demidenko says, are "drilled ideologically and militarily" in "an unstable European area". [7]

Kharlamov of the VOR accurately suggests that the MKO leaders insist on a compact settlement of all three thousand militants in Camp Liberty. "But the Albanian and German authorities see this as too dangerous," she states."The terrorist leaders are in a stalemate. They are welcome nowhere, while in Iraq they have been coming under rocket fire recently”. [8]

Therefore, the group leaders have to endeavor hard to maintain the authority over their cult. They have to be more and more generous toward their Western friends. To cope with the limbo they are stuck in they have to whitewash their dark history and to make their cause plausible and in consistence with the western democratic standards. That’s why that you may see the name of the MKO’s propaganda arm National Council of Resistance (NCR) among progressive Islamic organizations listed by the Clarion Project, a nonprofit organization whose stated mission is to educate people about inherent dangers of Islamic extremism.

To criticize Clarion Project’s misled action, the prominent American journalist Micheal Rubin puts, "The Mujahedin al-Khalq may be a lot of things, but it is neither progressive nor is it non-violent”.[9]

"To accept the Mujahedin al-Khalq as a moderate organization is analytically shallow given the group’s record of behavior, its dishonesty in its written work, its past targeting of Americans, and the fact that its rhetoric about democracy does not match its practice," Rubin warns. [10]

Furthermore, Christina Wilkie notes that the MKO has a long way to get accepted in third countries, "it’s been an uphill climb to convince other countries to accept MEK members, due to their cult-like characteristics and near-religious devotion to the Paris-based Maryam Rajavi and her husband. [11]

"But long odds don’t mean the MEK won’t keep trying to gain asylum in the United States. No longer restricted by the terrorist designation, they are now free to spend their millions of dollars — the source of which remains murky — without fear of Treasury Department scrutiny," concludes Wilkie. [12]

Mass moving of the MKO to the United States may require hard work and may face various challenges but if it happens it has two sides. On the one hand, once more it demonstrates the US double standards regarding terrorism; on the other hand the hostages of the Cult of Rajavi may find the opportunity to get released from the cult control as well as the violence ruling the region.

Rubin: MKO neither progressive nor non-violent

The Israeli Clarion Project has National Council of Resistance of Iran, the front organization of the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK, a.k.a. MKO), on its list of “progressive Muslim organizations.”

Describing the move as “surprising,” Commentary Magazine’s Michael Rubin wrote that the MKO may be a lot of things, but it is “neither progressive nor is it non-violent.”

The Clarion Project is an institute founded by Rabbi Raphael Shore. Obsessed with the promotion of Iranophobia and Islamophbia, it has produced such films as Iranium and Obsession.

“Progressive movements tend not to dictate to women who to marry and who to divorce,” he added, referring to the mandatory divorces in the cult of MKO.

“It attached itself to Saddam Hussein and allowed itself to be used almost as a mercenary organization against both Kurds and Iraqi Shi’ites.” According to 1994 US State Department report on the MKO, Masoud Rajavi, the ringleader of the MKO which is in hiding for years, announced the formation of the National Liberation Army (NLA), the military wing of the MKO, which conducted raids into Iran during the latter years of the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war. The NLA’s last major offensive reportedly was conducted against Irai Kurds in 1991, when it joined Saddam brutal repression of the Kurdish rebellion.

I am Abdulkarim Ebrahimi, 47, from Ilam, Iran. I left the Mujahedin Khalq Organization in 2012, after 24 years of imprisonment behind the bars of the anti-Iranian cult. I could manage to escape the MKO after

Memoirs of Abdulkarim Ebrahimi, MKO defector the relocation of the second convoy in Camp Liberty. I rushed to Iraqi Police station while MKO guards were chasing me. Finally, leaving the MKO security forces behind, I thrived to reach Iraqis.

Before my escape, when I was in Camp Ashraf, I had several times asked for permission to leave the organization but not only the MKO leaders refused my request, but also they verbally abused me, humiliated and mentally tortured me.

In 1994, after 5 years of membership in the group, together with a large number of other members, I was imprisoned by the cult authorities, under the pretext that they didn’t trust us. We were jailed in a prison in Camp Ashraf where we were physically and mentally tortured. I recall one of my fellow prisoners whose head had been entirely swelled due to severe beatings.

I entered the MKO in 1989 after I was deceived by the phony promises of the group. As soon as I arrived in the MKO, I found myself as a hostage in a inhumane cult where I even didn’t have the right to think freely. Any kind of socializing with others was forbidden as a “plot”. Members were under a 24-7 controlling system that forced them to attend daily and weekly sessions of inquisition. During these sessions members had to confess their thought and dreams, even sexual ones, in front of others. I myself was humiliated and verbally abused in these meetings several times.

The leaders of the MKO – who all the time claim that Camp Liberty is like a prison – are the main people who turned the MKO Camps into a prison. The MKO prison is so exceptional that its prisoners – the same members – are not allowed to contact their families, either by phone of by letter. They have no access to the Internet and other mass-media. They are forbidden to visit their loved ones. They have no news of the outside world but prisoners in the whole world, even under the worst dictatorships, at least are allowed to visit their families or even take a few days off to go home.

The MKO camps have been turned into a horrible jail because: relations and conditions are very oppressive, and tyranical, under cult-like practices members are manipulated, they are kept in an absolute ignorance, celibacy is obligatory, children are separated from their parents, emotional relations are forbidden as well as sexual relations, there is no access to mobile, Radio, TV, newspapers and the Internet. News, books and films are filtered by the cult authorities.

Therefore, I ask the United Nations Organization and the families of Liberty residents to try their best for salvation of my former friends who are still taken as hostages in the cult of Rajavi. In order to release them, the presence of residents’ families in Iraq is vital.

San Fernando Valley-based Iranian brothers turn to international tribunals over U.S. detentions

Ordinary citizens trapped for years while Senators paid for supporing terrorists Four Iranian brothers who live in the San Fernando Valley are asking two international tribunals to rule that they were unlawfully held on alleged immigration violations for more than 40 months shortly after Sept. 11, 2001.

The Mirmehdi brothers were detained on allegations that they were affiliated with a terrorist organization, though the men argued they had just attended a rally in Denver opposing the Iranian government and they have no terrorist involvement.

They have already filed claims asking for compensation and an apology but were rejected by the U.S. courts who said federal officials are immune from prosecution. But now with help from UCLA law students, they are asking the U.N. Working Group on Arbitrary Detention and the Washington D.C.-based Inter-American Commission for Human Rights to take up their case.

The two human rights bodies do not have the legal authority to force the U.S. government to compensate the brothers, but the Mirmehdis and their backers feel the groups could give them a form of justice by authenticating their claims.

“We do want some sort of monetary damages and compensation as well (but) the most important thing is that the court says that the U.S. government was wrong about us,” said Mostafa “Michael” Mirmehdi, 55, of Lake Balboa.

The brothers say they were “arbitrarily detained” in October 2001 and mistreated while held on the basis of a false allegation that they were members of a terrorist organization for which no criminal charges were ever filed. The brothers, who were denied political asylum more than a decade ago but are allowed to stay in the country for the time being, were released from detention in March 2005.

According to federal officials, the Mirmehdi brothers were found to have been subject to removal from the United States because they were in the country in violation of the nation’s immigration laws and were subject to mandatory detention because of their alleged affiliation with a terrorist organization.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals dismissed the Mirmehdis’ claims against U.S. government officials in 2012 and the U.S. Supreme Court declined to take up the case last year.

The Mirmehdis’s troubles date back to 1998 when they applied for political asylum with the help of an attorney named Bahram Tabatabai, who falsified certain details in the brothers’ applications, according to a 9th Circuit Court opinion. After Tabatabai was arrested for immigration fraud in March 1999, he agreed to cooperate with federal authorities; as part of a plea bargain, he told federal authorities that the Mirmehdis were supporters of an Iranian terrorist group known as the Mujahedine-e Khalq (MEK) “though he later recanted,” according to the opinion.

The agents arrested the Mirmehdis for immigration violations in March 1999 and they were later released on bond. The other three brothers are Mohammad, 43, of Tarzana, Mojtaba, 51, of Encino, and Mohsen, 47, of Tarzana.

Immigration authorities, however, revoked the bonds in October 2001 largely based on a document known as the “L.A. Cell Form,” a handwritten piece of paper that the government maintained listed members, affiliates and supporters of the MEK but that the Mirmehdis and their attorneys say was just a list of attendees at a “constitutionally-protected, pro-democracy” rally in Denver in 1997. That rally was hosted by the National Council of Resistance of Iran, which was affiliated with the MEK, and attended by several members of the U.S. Congress, the brothers said.

The Mirmehdis have maintained that they are not members of the MEK nor any other terrorist organization. They contend that federal officials detained them for as long as they did to try to get them to provide terrorist-related information about MEK members they did not possess.

An FBI spokeswoman said it would be inappropriate to comment beyond the U.S. courts’ decisions on this case.

Immigrations and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Virginia Kice declined comment on Tuesday, but she pointed to earlier statements made by her agency about the case.

“The Supreme Court has ruled that aliens may not be detained indefinitely when the United States is unable to carry out their removal,” Kice said in a written statement in 2005 after the brothers were ordered released from custody. “However, the law permits continued detention of individuals who pose an imminent threat to national security. Following a detailed analysis of all-important factors, there is insufficient basis to support continued detention of the brothers. One of these important factors is a judicial finding that, although they were associated with a terrorist organization, there was not enough evidence to connect the brothers to personally engaging in terrorist acts.”

When the Supreme Court rejected their case last year, there was no other avenue in the United States for the Mirmehdis, said Catherine Sweetser, an associate of the Venice-based law firm Schonbrun DeSimone Seplow Harris & Hoffman that has represented the brothers for years. The firm then asked the UCLA School of Law’s International Human Rights Clinic for help in taking the course to the international arena.

“The first thing we’re hoping for… are opinions that vindicate our clients’ position saying they were arbitrarily detained and experienced all these human rights violations under detention,” said E. Tendayi Achiume, instructor of the UCLA School of Law’s International Human Rights Clinic and a Binder Teaching Fellow. “We’re hoping that both tribunals will also make recommendations that ask the U.S. government to do several things … award damages and some form of rehabilitation/compensation for our clients for the violations they suffered. In addition to that, we would like both tribunals to recommend that the U.S. government amend the laws that immunize governments agents that engage in this conduct from being held accountable.”

A decision from the Inter-American Commission for Human Rights can take many years while the U.N. Working Group on Arbitrary Detention could respond within the year, Achiume said.

The case of Hamid Aboutalebi and his adventurous story to become the Iranian ambassador in Tehran once more discloses the controversial history of the Iranian terrorist cult the Mujahedin Khalq

Organization. While U.S. denied Abutalebi a visa, citing his connection to the 1979 hostage crisis and Iran eventually rejected a U.S. decision to deny a visa for its newly appointed ambassador to the United Nations, the MKO tries to whitewash its anti Imperialism background in a bid to obtain more support among its American friends.

"American law allows the Washington government to bar UN diplomats who are considered national security threats" reported CBC News. "But Obama’s potentially precedent-setting step could open the U.S. to criticism that it is wielding its position as host nation to improperly exert political influence." [1] The MKO wants this "improperly exerted political influence" to work out because its survival as a formerly designated terrorist cult-like group is hinged on the support it can gain in the West. The more the MKO troubles the waters between Iran and the US the more it can survive.

But this time the disputed issue between Iran and the US terribly twists the history of the MKO as a group that originally "led a guerrilla campaign against the US-backed Shah of Iran in the 1970s". [2] Today for the MKO leaders the darkest part of their history is their former strong anti-American portrait that has shifted into a very pro-American mask. The hypocrisy of the MKO is once more disclosed.

In June 2011, Kenneth R. Timmerman, the American journalist cites from a series of documents on the MKO released by the State Department revealing," the group, known as the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK, or MKO), supported the takeover of the U.S. embassy in Tehran in November 1979." It seems that the MKO’s support for the embassy takeover was a miscalculation because they then failed to have a share in the newly established government of Iran. Timmerman suggests that it was "not a position to endear itself to U.S. diplomats – before its gradual elimination from the ruling coalition by Ayatollah Khomeini less than two years later."[3]

Therefore, along with their opportunistic substance, the MKO propaganda on the new dispute between the two governments is pushing a new campaign to buy more supporters in the US claiming "1979 US hostage takers are now senior Iranian officials & Rouhani cabinet members." The group lists a number of half true half fake photos to support such allegations.

As a matter of fact, the 52 American hostages were finally released after 444 days by the Iranian government – the move was harshly opposed by the MKO that at the time considered itself as "vanguard of struggle against the US Imperialism". It is worth to notice that the Islamic Republic did not kill or injure the US hostages but the MKO is the only Iranian group that has the blood of Americans in its hands. According to the U.S. Department of State the group conducted several assassinations of U.S. military personnel and civilians working in Iran during the 1970s. [4]

Thus it was not bizarre when they opposed the release of the hostages in 1981 by the Iranian state, and called for their execution instead. As a result they staged a large demonstration, based on the presentation of the MEK by the Foreign Affairs group of the Australian Parliament. [5]

To reverse their now-embarrassing past, the MKO claims that the killing of the US citizens during the 1970’s was committed by another fraction of the group that defected in the early years."But Mujahedin newsletters published in Iran in 1980 celebrated the murders, calling the U.S. victims ‘criminal agents of U.S. Imperialism in Iran’, notifies Kenneth Timmerman. [6]

On April 4, 2014, Robert Mackey of the NewYork times posted an article to investigate the role of Iranian Reformists in the embassy crisis in 1979. He puts the outcome of his research," No evidence has emerged to support claims that Mr. Aboutalebi was among the leaders of the embassy siege, which was well-documented by the international news media at the time."[7]

Denouncing the NCR’s claim to condemn Aboutalebi as the person who orchestrated the assassination of the member of the group, Mackey refers to the NCR as "The same exile group — whose militant wing, the Mujahedeen e-Khalq, or People’s Mujahedeen, was removed from the State Department’s list of foreign terrorist organizations only in 2012 after a well-financed Washington lobbying campaign". [8]

This shows that the MKO’s misinformation campaign to demonize the Iranian officials has no use except buying more sponsorship among US warmongers.

The MKO to open office in Yemen

With the aid of the United States, the Mujahedin Khalq terrorist organization opened its office in Yemen, reported Aden News website citing from its sources in London.

According to the news report, some high ranking members of the MKO entered Yemen territory by the help OF US forces. They were welcomed by certain extremist groups in the country.

Following the removal of the Mujahedin Khalq from the list of Terrorist Organizations of the European Union and the United States, the operation for resettlement of the group’s members in a number of Islamic and Arabic countries including Yemen and Turkey has been facilitated.

Dear UN Official Mr. Hortens Balla,

First of all, we appreciate the interest you have shown to celebrate Iranian New Year for our friends –refugees of Camp liberty, Iraq who left the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (the MKO), once they were resettled in Tirana.

A few days before the UNHCR hold the New Year’s party, the MKO authorities in Tirana planned a Nowruz celebration for those members who are still trapped under the control of their cult-like group. They actually sought the attention of the newly defectors of the group in order to recruit them again. They awfully feared the collapse of their cult hegemony which was already in decline.

On the one hand, the party organized by the UN office distressed the cult authorities and on the other hand, it reinforced our friends in their effort to distance themselves from the cult indoctrination system.

By the way, we would be pleased to introduce our NGO in a few words.

Nejat Society is an NGO founded by ex-members of the MKO in Iran. Founders of Nejat who all endured the sufferings and pains of living in the "Cult of Rajavi" are determined to rescue their former friends who are still takes as hostages in the MKO camps.

Nejat society’s offices all over Iran get in touch with families of MKO hostages who have been deceived or hijacked into the group. We work hard to inform them of the situation of their children and loved ones mentally or physically imprisoned behind the bars of the cult.At the moment, Nejat Society includes nearly 3000 families all over the country.

A Report from Tirana

According to reports, the disastrous situation of the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (the MKO) in Albania has exasperated Maryam Rajavi. She has dispatched several high-ranking members of the group to A Report from Tirana Tirana to hold meetings to chastise Javad Khorasan who is the responsible to protect the organizational relations of the MKO in Tirana and to reprimand him and his peers for their inefficiency.

The MKO is making efforts to regroup members in Tirana by any means but the New Year’s party that was held in the MKO’s apartment was not welcomed by defectors. The group failed to wipe off the crimes and deceptions committed in the cult-like dictatorship from the minds of defected members.

The few people, who attended the ceremony, left the building after half an hour. They had gone there mostly to get news of the insiders. In Tirana, General policy of the MKO is based on recruiting disaffected members by offering them financial support. Despite the MKO’s efforts, defectors of the group are in no way willing to get back in the cult’s structure. A few members have to receive the monthly payment of the MKO because they can hardly ever afford to make a living with the sum that the HCR pays them every month.

In addition, the HCR has got to know about the MKO’s propaganda to deceive the UN officials and also disassociated members so it took an appropriate action to hold Nowruz celebration for defected individuals.

The party was held in a restaurant near TEG a shopping center in Tirana on Monday, March24. Ex-members had a very fun day in the HCR-held Nowruz fest that lasted about 5 hours.

Following the deal brokered in November, between Iran and the world’s six powers, The US Treasury Department has granted plane manufacturers Boeing and General Electric’s (GE) a license to export The MKO losing games, Geneva deal working certain spare commercial parts to Iran despite the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (the MKO) put a heavy lobbying efforts to stop the deal working.

The step is being seen as part of a temporary agreement to ease sanctions on Tehran that US Secretary of State John Kerry reached with Iran last year, reported BBC. [1]

The MKO’s multi-million dollar champagne in the US Congress to oppose any deal to reach peace with Iran, launched particular champagne last November to increase sanctions on Iranian airlines. "America should exploit some of the vagaries in the agreement’s language and prevent Boeing from repairing Iranian aircraft until we have a final deal," Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif.) one of the MKO’s main sponsors in the Congress said in the statement he delivered in late November. "Otherwise we will have made a permanent irreversible concession in a ‘temporary’ agreement." [2]

Although Jason Ditz of the Antiwar properly concludes that the MKO "appears to still envision itself being the benefactors of US-imposed regime change in Iran, and is willing to pull out all the stops to see to it that diplomacy does not succeed and rapprochement remains impossible", this time diplomacy seems to work out.[3]

The MKO leaders are right to panic peace because the truth is showing its ugly face to them now.
