Maryam Rajavi not Welcome in Spain

Mr. Ahmadi, (alias) an Iranian national who lives for more than 15 years in Spain with his family, agreed to talk to Mojahedin Monitor; with condition of remaining anonymous. He wants to remain unknown because he believes that MEK is a dangerous group with terrorist activities.

Mojahedin Monitor: In late December 2012, Maryam Rajavi visited Spain. According to MEK website, she performed visits in the Parliament and has done an interview with El Pais. As the first question I would like to know that how was the reaction of Iranian community in Spain about her trip to Madrid?

Mr. Ahmadi: Maryam Rajavi was not welcomed here by the Iranian community. In Spain there are less Iranians than Germany or French but any way no one was there to support her or say welcome. We still consider them as buddies of Saddam and traitors to the mother land. No one has forgotten them killing Iranian soldiers and Kurds.

– Was there any arrangement of visit between Maryam Rajavi and the Iranian community in Spain?
No one here was willing to see her. Even if there was, I am sure that it has been unsuccessful. Someone close to the gang of MEK suggested us to see her and have a dinner with her, but everyone that I know refused…you know … they are notorious and we are not willing to support a bunch of Marxist Islamist.

– But they had a big propaganda that they gained a huge support in the Parliament and in the Media?

– Well any one can rent a room in the Parliament and have a speech there. With the large amounts that they spend I do not wonder that they easily rented a room in Parliament. Plus a notorious Spanish MP supports them. Mr. Vidal Quadras is long known as being in the pay list of MEK and he facilitates for this bandits.

Pentagon Report and the MeK

Pentagon’s report about the Intelligence power of Iran once again has created opportunity for Pentagon Report and the MeK Rajavi’s gang to try to pose itself. Referring to the content of Pentagon report on Iran, remnants of Rajavi forge that they are the greatest and the most dangerous opposition of the Iranian government.

Also, upon this report, MeK leadership makes effort to justify her accusations to some of the dissidents, to undermine their legitimacy and get rid of their disclosures especially about Rajavi’s moral and sexual corruption.

At first it should be noted that regardless of specific individuals named in the Pentagon report and their alleged relations with the Iranian government, which is raised unauthentic and ambiguous, the flow of defection from the MeK is accepted and believed by the world public opinion. More absurd than Rajavi’s striving to eliminate dissidents is her scramble to prove existence of the terrorist group MEK.

Pentagon’s report and the like that in previous years, with any intention, occasionally have been broadcasted, contrary to the claims of Rajavi and her gang, not only are not signs of the Islamic Republic’s breakup but prove authority of Iran and wholly mess up Rajavi’s illusions.

Interestingly, in none of American reports on the MeK – at least since the eighties – the group’s alleged roots in the Iranian society or its social base are mentioned. Rather, what is brought up is Iranian intelligence system’s confrontation with the Mek out of the country and its supposed utilization of dissidents of Rajavi. This indicates that even drafters of such reports are well aware that they are faced with a rootless and unimpressive group which is under tight control of information.

Who can interview with Maryam Rajavi ?

Maryam Rajavi’s recent interview with Spanish newspaper El Pais appears to be one her few interviews with mass media. As the so-called president elect of the National Council of Resistance and the leader of the most viable alternative- as she claims – to the Islamic Republic, it seems odd that she has experienced so few appearances in the media, and roughly no appearance in Persian media.

Maryam Rajavi, the self-assigned president of the NCR and the co-leader of the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (the MKO),seems to be too reluctant to appear in front of her country fellow men and answer controversial questions on her cult-like organization and its disappeared leader, Massoud Rajavi.

About two years ago in August 2011, Nooshabeh Amiri, the Iranian journalist published an article titled”Interview with Maryam Rajavi” on Rooz Online. Amiri wrote of a failed effort to have an interview with the leader of the MKO, Maryam Rajavi:

“A few years ago, one of the producers of CBS’s 60 Minutes asked me to arrange for the networks interview with Maryam Rajavi, a leader of Iran’s Mujahidin Khalq Organization (MKO). I told him then that I thought it was not possible to do this, to which he replied, “If the interview is going to be with a non-Iranian network, the response will certainly be different.”

“I then recruited the assistance of a person affiliated with the MKO. A few days later he provided me with an email address to contact. When I did, I was given a telephone number to contact, which in all honesty made me feel embarrassed for my initial assumption which was based on hear say. Subsequent events however proved me right.

“When I made the first call, I was given another telephone number to call. This was repeated several times in the course of a few months that followed, until the American producer called me and said the issue was over and that there was no need to follow-up.

“I concluded that 60 Minutes must have decided to call off the pursuit because of how long it had taken to arrange for the interview. He surprised me when he said that a representative of the MKO had made arrangements with the program’s senior producer and had made a condition for the interview and had written up the questions to be asked….

“This was pathetic, something that still continues.”[1]

“Pathetic”! This is the term Ms. Amiri uses to describe the MKO’s propaganda system. However, the group’s approach regarding media is fraudulent.

The MKO’s propaganda decides what media to interview with its leader as well as what questions to be asked. Considering various reports on human rights violations committed inside the MKO as a cult of personality, the group’s propaganda runners know that all peace activists, freedom lovers and independent journalists would ask questions of which the answers are beyond the red lines of the group. Thus, they never risk the façade of a “democratic” opposition to Islamic Republic they are trying to build for their cult-like organization.

The Spanish daily, El Pais does not ask any question to trouble Rajavi but the questions are so simply and directly asked that could recall you a memorized dialogue in a screenplay. For an authentic unbiased interview with Maryam Rajavi the most crucial question which has never been answered since American invasion to Iraq in 2003 — the same year that Maryam Rajavi was arrested by French Police in her headquarters in the suburb of Paris—is this:”Where is Massoud Rajavi?”

There are many other important questions to be asked particularly regarding numerous testimonies of former members. For instance, recent testimonies of former female members on sexual abuse of women of elite council of the group by Massoud Rajavi must be explained by Maryam Rajvi who is according to evidences the main person to make women sleep with Massoud Rajavi.[2]

According to the 2005 Human Rights Watch report ” No Exit”, inside MKO camps there are ”abuses ranging from detention and persecution of ordinary members wishing to leave” to “lengthy solitary confinements, severe beatings, and torture of dissident members.”[3]

In Ms. Amiri’s article you can also find a list of questions that may obsess any independent journalist who is going to interview Rajavi. The followings are some of them:

“Does the MKO see itself responsible to respond to questions such as its cooperation with Saddam Hossein in attacking and invading Iran?

“Under what strategy and goal were inexperienced youth asked to respond to the Mersad Operation inside Iran?

“Is internal criticism allowed within MKO and can it be reflected outside the organization?

“Is it true that some MKO members have left the organization on the basis of such instructions by the group to take up the responsibility of attacking other opponents of the Islamic republic?”[4]

To our surprise, the biased report of EL Pais begins with this ludicrous statement by Maryam Rajavi: ”popular support inside Iran is a source of legitimacy for this resistance” (!)

This opening sentence clearly indicates that the interview was actually managed by the interviewee not the interviewer.

What does Maryam Rajavi mean by “popular support” inside Iran?!

One thing is sure; Rajavi’s claim is absolutely false. Although the MEK claims to be loved and respected inside Iran, the truth is that most Iranians view the terrorist organization as ruthless traitors who killed their own countrymen, according to many reports. For example Massoud Banisadr who is a former top official of the group say in an interview with Steve Hassan:”After Iranian revolution, late seventies and early eighties MEK could change from a guerrilla (or terrorist organization according to different people’s definition) into a popular political group attracting thousands of young people. But after moving back to terrorism, ignoring and violating people’s ethics, beliefs and principles, especially working with Iraq’s president, Saddam Hussein after the incursion of Iraq into Iran, they lost all their support inside Iran and as matter of fact in public view they changed into a traitor organization”. [5] Also, The Wall Street Journal writes of critical views on the group,”Critics of the MeK allege that the organization has no major support inside Iran and that its leaders, who are based outside Paris, run the group like a cult.”[6]

Based on Mrs. Rajavi’s own claim, the “source of legitimacy for the resistance”is definitely absent.

More smoke and mirrors from the MEK propaganda factory

America’s national integrity held to ransom by MEK fear mongering

The MEK have been very keen to publicise a Library of Congress report called ‘Iran’s Ministry of America’s national integrity held to ransom by MEK fear mongering Intelligence and Security: a Profile’.

On the surface this is understandable as the MEK is the sworn enemy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. However, a closer look at the content reveals a murkier truth.

The report is characterised by its mixture of allegation, assertion and allusion, much of which is not substantiated by evidence. The report blends fact and fiction in a manner intended to deceive and mislead. As such, this document is not an attack, it is a defensive act, it is a play on words intended to prevent informed discussion and stop important people being listened to. Indeed, the gratuitous mention of two specific individuals, Anne Singleton and Massoud Khodabandeh, who have consistently exposed the aspects of the Mojahedin Khalq which it most wants to hide – cult nature, human rights violations, mercenary relation to foreign agents – is the strongest possible indication of the provenance of this report.

The other indication is that the source of this specific misinformation is Rabbi Daniel M. Zucker. In a footnote the article “Disinformation Campaign in Overdrive: Iran’s VEVAK in High-Gear” is sourced at Global Politician, September 3, 2007, http://www.globalpolitician.com/23386-vevak-iran (accessed April 17, 2012). Interestingly, this website can no longer be accessed.

It is known that Zucker, along with his family visited Maryam Rajavi in Paris and was sufficiently impressed by her glamorous outfits, free dinners and weasel words to become an active advocate of the MEK in America.

However, Zucker’s article received a thorough retort back in 2007 from Professor Paul Sheldon Foote.

Reference to the same discredited article in this report can only be done out of ignorance, stupidity or desperation. Do Zucker and his ilk really believe that through defamation they can prevent the truth from emerging. Perhaps the MEK believe this will save their necks in Washington. Certainly Massoud Rajavi is deluded. He really believes that his cultic ‘thought-terminating clichés’ will work with everyone. In Zucker he has found a like minded person, willing to place hope over experience. But surely there are people in Washington who are not so willing to be so easily duped.

So, what is it that Rajavi and his supporters are so desperate to hide?

Part of the answer to this question lies in the recent article ‘Do not Disturb – Criminals at Work in Camp Liberty’ by one of the people named in the report. As time passes and the UNHRC processes the individuals in Camp Liberty for refugee status and relocation, the danger of further exposure of human rights abuses inside the MEK is becoming ever more critical for the cult. More and more exhausted and disillusioned MEK members are scheduled to come to Europe. When they are freed from Rajavi’s cultic constraints what else will they reveal about the cult and its criminal activities?

While the UN is timidly tiptoeing around outside the closed door of Camp Liberty afraid to intervene for fear of being labelled an ‘agent of the Iranian regime’ only three thousand individuals are affected.

But in America the implications behind this report signal a potent threat to the national interest. Behind the self-interested motivations of the MEK and its sponsors, there lies real danger for the American establishment. The problem for America is not the fact or fiction of the Iranian Intelligence Ministry’s reach into western countries. Instead, it is the reach of the internal enemies of America into its corridors of power which is truly disturbing.

Let us not forget that a similar document, mingling actual fact and unsubstantiated allegations masquerading as fact, became a central piece of evidence which was used in the legal argument to remove the MEK from the proscribed terrorism lists of both the UK and the European Union. Is this not a disturbing precedent?

Now, if Zucker and his ilk can insert this MEK written propaganda into an apparently official document for the Pentagon – an easy target of course as it is swarming with willing warmongers – will it be long before such documents reach into higher circles of power – that is, the people with America’s nuclear arsenal at their fingertips. The decision making clique in a national crisis cannot afford to be swayed by either ideologically biased or un-researched information.

When MEK misinformation so blatantly reaches the Pentagon, is it too far fetched to imagine it reaching The White House? Should a crisis arise, can Americans be confident that those at the top really have well researched and balanced information on which to base their decisions or could America be heading for a catastrophic miscalculation?

The loopholes to such a possibility can and should be closed. The MEK may look like friends now, but do not think they won’t turn around and bite you in the future.

French Assembly, Why did you invite Maryam Rajavi?

We regretted the presence of Mrs Maryam Rajavi, leader of the People’s Mojahedin Khalq Organization, in the French National Assembly on Wednesday 4th December, 2012, a person whose hands are smeared with the blood of the best people of our motherland, Iran. Unfortunately, some of the Mojahedin’s lobbyists, who are representatives of the French people, have been deceived by Maryam Rajavi’s lies and they invited her to the French National Assembly.

Mr President

When Mrs Maryam Rajavi speaks about human rights, you should know that there are 3200 MEK members who have been held captive in Iraq in Camp Liberty on her direct order. Of this total more than half are willing to return to their normal life, if allowed their freedom. Currently, members who show any hint of dissent and those who want to separate from the MEK will be severely and brutally beaten on the direct order of Massoud and Maryam Rajavi. Since these people have been relocated to Camp Liberty, more than 50 of them have succeeded in escaping and have rescued themselves from that camp. The obstacles and obstructions which the MEK has created, has resulted in failure of their refugee process in Iraq. The representative of your honorable country in the United Nations and the Security Council’s sessions have witnessed that Mr Martin Kobler, the UN’s special envoy, has complained many times at the lack of MEK cooperation in solving this humanitarian matter. On the other hand, for more than two years the families of MEK members have been asking for a one or two hour meeting with their loved ones. They have established a sit-in in front of the camp, but unfortunately they have been denied meeting with their loved ones on the direct order of Massoud and Maryam Rajavi.

Mr President,

In the French National Assembly, which is the symbol of French democracy and human rights, Mrs Maryam Rajavi speaks about human rights while dissidents inside the MEK are being killed on the direct order of Massoud and Maryam Rajavi. In this regard, I can mention the names of women such as Mehry Moussavi, Minoo Fathali, Marjan Akbarian, Zahra Faizbakhsh, Homa Bashardoost, Allan Mohammadi, and others and men such as Saeed Kiani, Kiomarz Barforosh, Alinaghi Hadad, and others. In this regard my friends and I who have witnessed these crimes, are ready to testify in any court of law. The MEK, which has not gained power in Iran, massacres its own members. Any Iranian opposition group or organization which wants to criticize the MEK will be faced with bullying aggression and intimidation tactics by the MEK and suffer character assassination; and they will receive death threats from the MEK. None of the Iranian opposition groups which reside in Europe and the USA cooperate with them because of their cultic and violent behavior. The National Council of Resistance, the MEK’s public political face, which comprises MEK commanders and operatives, does not have any popularity among Iranian people. Now, Mrs Maryam Rajavi with this kind of background and record, requests the same kind of recognition and accreditation as the Syrian opposition from the French government!

We former MEK members, with 20-30 years of living in the MEK, who were able to rescue ourselves from the MEK after the downfall of Saddam Hussein and who are currently living in France, would like to alert you to the facts of this situation.

MKO Concerned about Human Rights!

MKO expresses concern over attendance of Mr. Kobler in marking Iraq’s HR’s Day

An assessment of the human rights situations in the world’s countries tells that the situation in general is worrying. There are, however, essential differences between the results according to findings and reports of local and international NGOs which vary from country to country according to their political, social and historical characteristics and particularly if a country experiences post-war crises. Even in such a country, Iraq for example, many people today realize that their government has obligations in the sphere of human rights and the government has also started to meet these obligations; the existence of the Ministry of Human Rights expresses how important human rights are for this country.

But the important thing and the responsibility on the international organizations active to monitor and promote human rights are to push states to respect the obligations to which they have signed up. These international bodies play an active role by taking measures aimed at encouraging states to respect these obligations and they can also play a more active role by following the recommendations issued by these bodies. It is clear that an exceptional improvement of the human rights situation means a positive step forward that needs an international encouragement to be followed by many other, a responsibility that Mr. Martin Kobler, Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) for Iraq, carried out by attending the official Human Rights Day celebrations hosted by Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki at the Iraqi Institute of Human Rights in Baghdad.

Appreciated as an overall promising and urging move, the attendance is being criticized by the leaders of the forcefully relocated MKO that the Iraqi government is decisive to expel from its soil for its very same role in violation of human rights and many Iraqi rules as well as interfering in domestic affairs. In a statement issued by the group’s office in France, Mr. Kobler’s attendance was condemned as “an abhorrent flattering” which was claimed to be in complete contradiction to his earlier reports of human rights violations in Iraq. Mr. Kobler is quoted to have flattered in the presence of Nouri Al-Maliki by saying:

“The Prime Minister’s remarks are in line with the UN’s agenda on human rights. This is a correct and realistic obligation to human rights. ….. The existence of the Ministry of Human Rights expresses how important human rights are for this country. ….His Excellency the Prime Minister and the Human Rights Minister, I am very happy to participate in this gathering. I am very happy that the Prime Minister is in this event and this is a very important indication that His Excellency the Prime Minister’s honorable presence means he pays notice to human rights in Iraq. I express my gratitude to the Minister of Human Rights for his enormous cooperation with UNAMI and me personally and human rights in Geneva. What we are doing in Iraq is in line with the government’s actions and parallel to strengthening human rights in Iraq.”

Even if we suppose that Mr. Kobler has flattered the Prime Minister Al-Maliki, Iraq is a country that needs strong and considerable encouragement to pass over the hard days and to be promoted with confidence to make efforts for bringing sorts of improvement to the human rights situation in the country. Of course, MKO’s displeasure is mostly because the Iraqi government turns a blind eye to ceaseless and illogical demands of the group that is imposed on the government, and which is only one of many unwelcome legacies of the ousted Saddam to tackle with. At the present, MKO has the least required cooperation with both the Iraqi government and the UN bodies to bring an end to the agonies and plights of some 3,200 enslaved members of the group waiting under an unrelenting, cultic, psychological pressure in a transitory camp near Baghdad for their destiny to be decided. Having a long record of violating its insiders’ rights, the group itself is the bottleneck that hampers the processing process and continues to break principles in dealing with insider’s rights.

Regime Change in Iran by the MKO?!

In the new P.R. show of the Mujahedin Khalq Organization(the MKO), the self- appointed president of the National Council of Resistance ,Maryam Rajavi on Wednesday 5 December, Regime Change in Iran by the MKO?! launched a campaign to have France and the European Union grant it the same recognition they have accord to the Syrian coalition battling to overthrow Bashar al-Asad, AFP reported.[1]

AFP quotes from Rajavi as saying that “The West’s biggest error has been to ignore the key movement for change in Iran,” referring to her so-called “resistance” which is the political arm of the cult-like Mujahedin khalq group.

The wife of the disappeared leader of the MKO, addressed a group of 10 French deputies at France’s National Assembly. France government has no official contact with the group, although the MKO’s propaganda base is located in the suburb of Paris.

Rajavi claim that “only solution in Iran is a change of regime by the Iranian people”. She asked France and the European countries to “remove obstacles on the path of the resistance" and to support ”a democratic change in Iran.” This way, she introduces her cult as the alternative of the Iranian government. During the meeting, former US congressman, Patrick Kennedy –definitely well funded by the MKO’s propaganda – told the conference that Maryam Rajavi “seeks to bring democracy and human rights to her country,” reported Reuters.[2]

Actually, the "cult of Rajavi" is described by the State Department as “fundamentally undemocratic “and “not a viable alternative to the current government of Iran”.[3]

“Internally the Mujahedin run their organization autocratically, suppressing dissent and eschewing tolerance of differing viewpoints,” the DOS report said.

Massoud Rajavi, the disappeared ideological leader of the MKO ” has fostered a cult of personality around himself,” according to the DOS report.[4]

As AFP reports, the MKO seeks Syrian style recognition. France as the Western power to recognize Syria’s opposition coalition as the sole representative of the Syrian people. [5]
One thing is sure! The MKO does not represent the Iranian people. Rajavi suggests “a change of regime by the Iranian people “. What does she mean by the “Iranian people” who would support her “resistance”?

Jeremiah Goulka, is an American expert on the MKO. He is one of the authors of the famous RAND report on the group. Goulka explains how the MKO lost its support among Iranian public: "Once upon a time, the MEK did enjoy some measure of popular support in Iran. But after getting shoved aside by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini’s party after the 1979 Iranian Revolution, the MEK spent the next two decades launching terrorist attacks against the new regime and its military, harming bystanders in several instances. The MEK joined sides with Saddam Hussein in the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988), moving to camps in Iraq in 1986 and fighting against Iranian conscripts. Frustrated that Saddam failed to install it in power in Tehran by the end of the war, the MEK attempted its own invasion of Iran (using more of Saddam Hussein’s military munificence), resulting in the death of thousands of its members. These acts destroyed the MEK’s credibility among Iranians. Trapped in the Iraqi desert, the group’s leaders transformed the MEK into a cult after the failed invasion—engaging in such practices as mandated divorce and celibacy, sleep deprivation, public shaming, separation of families, and information control—and continued its terrorist attacks in Iran. “[6]

Jason Rezaian a Foreign Policy correspondent who has a ten- year experience of traveling to Iran and writing about it for a mostly American audience points out how the MKO leaders are detached from the reality of the Iranian society,” for many people in Iran, though, especially those who remember the early years after the 1979 revolution, the MEK has come to represent an evil much more toxic that the American view of the Taliban and Al-Qaeda”, he writes.[7]

The deep antipathy among the Iranian population against the MKO has even led many of previous sympathizers of the group to hide or deny their past links with it. Being extremely unpopular in Iran, the MKO’s dream for regime change in Iran can never be peaceful as its leaders claim. “The MEK may deny wanting violent regime change, but the only conceivable way it would become the next government in Tehran would be at the head of a US invasion force,” Jeremia Goulka suggests.[8]

The words of Maryam Rajavi addressing French deputies are helpful to testify how much the MKO leaders are mastered in their puffed-up propaganda campaign. The world community should know that they are never “representatives” of Iranian people but definitely enemies of them.

Camp Liberty resembles a prison?

MKO’s well funded disinformation campaign is seeking support in minor European capitals. The group’s lobbying efforts in Britain, France, Belgium,… is nothing new and to some extent they Camp Liberty resembles a prison? have won the support of a number of unaware or narrow-minded authorities of Europe. The most important success was the removal of the MKO from the terrorist list of European Union following long term lobbying activities in 2009.

In her recent act of disinformation, Maryam Rajavi addressed Estonian Parliament calling for support for the so called resistance of the Iranian people (!) against Islamic Republic. She dares to represent herself as Iranians’ attorney, while she doesn’t comply with the most basic human rights within her own camps either in Iraq or France.
Rajavi claims that the conditions of Camp Liberty (Temporary Transit Location which was previously Saddam’s Palace and then was turned into a camp for American troops) resemble the conditions of a prison and it does not meet humanitarian and human rights standard. However, defectors of the group who recently fled TTL describe an entirely opposite condition of the camp.

Majid Mohammadi, former member of the MKO fled Camp Liberty earlier this year. In an interview with Nejat Society, he explains how they were disappointed after moving to the new camp,”When the idea of moving to Liberty was proposed, the majority of guys thought that they would finally go to another place in which they would no more be limited and controlled and they would be able to have access to the outside world…but, we didn’t know that the Rajavis intended to build another Ashraf in Liberty.”

Mohamamdi reveals that “Organizational control and cultic practices were exercised much more severe than those in Camp Ashraf.”

The former member of the cult of Rajavi notifies that the daily mind control meetings at TTL last for twelve hours a day.”

Regarding facilities and equipments at Camp Liberty Mr. Mohammadi says:
” Residents live in Conexes. Each Conex is resided by 7 people. It is worth to mention that, according to arrangement made by UNHCR’s supervisor, each Conex was supposed to be resided by two people but the cult leaders placed 7 people, instead. They wanted to prevent private meetings and to have more strict control over members.”
The rest of Conexes were allocated to offices of commandants and mind control meetings including Current Operation (a self-criticism daily meeting in which members have to confess their thoughts during the day) and Weekly Cleansing (held once a week in which members have to submit oral and written reports on their thoughts, dreams… during the whole week), based on Mr. Mohammadi’s evidences.

UN representative on Camp Ashraf affairs in Iraq, Martin Kober previously stated that Camp Liberty “meets acceptable humanitarian standards “as a Temporary Transit Location.
Besides, Ambassador Daniel Fried, Special representative of the State Department said,” the conditions at Camp Liberty is not nearly as bad as described by the MEK.”

In contrary to the reports on normal humanitarian standards in Camp Liberty, the MKO propaganda still runs petitions and lobbying campaigns to call on UN to recognize the camp as a Refugee Camp in Iraqi territory where the people and the government oppose the presence of foreign forces particularly Saddam Hussein’s mercenaries who have the blood of Iraqi Kurds and Shiits in their hands, the MKO.

Majid Mohammadi describes the equipments of TTL –once used by US soldiers – and how MKO members were barred from using them. The leaders of the cult confiscated any equipment that gives members the joy of a normal life. Here’s Mr. Mohammadi’s testimony:

“Based on the agreement signed by Iraqi government and the UN authorities, each Conex should be equipped with TV, air conditioner and telephone…until the two –supposedly two- residents are granted asylum and leave the camp. But, the leaders of the cult confiscated all telephones.

"The TVs had no antenna. We were just allowed to watch MKO channel in the eating place at specific times.”

The former member of the cult of Rajavi recalls that they even were not allowed to use the gym – highly equipped for American troops. They were told,” If we open the gym, members want to build their body and this is definitely for their desire to have wife and a normal life. So suggesting the idea of using the gym is kind of opportunistic act.”

He notifies that the commanders of the MKO did not permit members to use the exercise mats. “They have the smell of life, they shouldn’t be used,” they said!

It is obvious that the leaders of the MKO do not want a normal life for their members. They urge UN to recognize their Camp as a refugee Camp because in that case they can simply prolong their stay in Iraq and eventually maintain their Cult structure. To achieve such an objective, "Rajavi doesn’t hesitate to make a thousand people die,” Mohammadi said.

European parliamentarians should watch out. They should be benefactors to stop human rights abuses committed by MKO leaders against TTL residents.

Human Rights Abuse in the MEK

The sole victims of MKO cult are its members and their families

Human rights are known to be the basic rights and freedoms to which all people as humans are considered entitled: the right to life, liberty, freedom of thought and expression, and equal treatment before the law, among others. Such rights are said to be natural rights which means that they are not earned and cannot be denied on the basis of race, creed, ethnicity or gender and are often advanced as legal rights and protected by the rule of law. These basic, natural rights cannot be violated under any circumstances and they have been interpreted and set forth in international human rights documents such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

To protect human rights is to ensure that people receive some degree of decent, humane treatment. Despite what resembles a widespread consensus on the importance of human rights and the expansion of international treaties on such matters, the protection of human rights still fails to be fully accomplished. Many conflicts are sparked by a failure to protect human rights, and the trauma that results from severe human rights violations often leads to new human rights violations. However, it is evident that human rights abuses and violations continue to occur in different parts of the world, but the worst occurs when the natural rights of people are violated under the claims of being defenders and condemning others for violating human rights.

Reportedly, Maryam Rajavi, the leader of the cult of Mojahedin, held a recent first-time lobbying meeting with a few members of Estonia Parliament’s human rights support group to discuss human rights violations in Iran and to elicit their support for its struggle. It seems that the Estonian MPs are actually unaware of the members of her group’s harsh conditions and their deprivation of the very basic and natural rights in Iraq. Long enslaved in Camp Ashraf and now located in a temporary transit location near Baghdad, the members of MKO are denied of the right to life and liberty and are kept against their will. They are not allowed to have any form of contact to the world outside and even with their family members many of whom have long requested and are waiting at the gates of the camp to see their children and relatives.

Against speculations that the Iraqi government may have created bureaucratic obstructions and hindrances for the Iranian family members that have deprived them of visiting the camp and its members, it is the group’s insular cultic views and regulations that prevents and prohibits contact with outsiders unless for organizational causes and interests and only arranged for certain trusted ranking members. Noteworthy, in some cases a session of meeting with families is arranged but it is supervised by the ranks and commanders from the group and the families are not left alone with the members to have a free conversation.

Have the Estonian MPs ever asked Rajavi how she can talk of struggling for the freedom of a nation when her group fails to recognize and respect the very natural rights of the members as the humans? Now the sole victims of the cult in need of help are its members and their families play a key role in setting them free. But the cult leaders at the order of Rajavi are insisting on keeping the members in isolation from the outside world and particularly from their families; the cultic relations and internal mind manipulation is still severely practiced within the cult. To prove their good will, the least Estonia MPs may ask from Rajavi is to first recognize and respect the natural rights of her group’s members before condemning others and demonizing them for violation of rights. Otherwise, it is considered another meeting to sacrifice human rights for inhuman political causes.

The cult of Rajavi

French Senator writes book to denounce the MKO

A member of French Senate has written a book on the Mujahedin Khalq (People’s Mujahedin of Iran/PMOI) earlier this year. Senator Nathalie Goulet of Orne published the book "PMOI: a cult in heart of the Republic" to warn her comrades in French Assembly and Senate about the threat of the cult of Mujahedin.
She writes of the MKO’s violent background and its devotion to armed struggle and terrorism, noting that the group has never published a statement or confession letter to officially denounce violence.
Revealing facts on cult-like practices of the group, she warns that a full-scale cult exists in the heart of Republic of France. She describes the MKO’s efforts in her working place, French Senate and Assembly:
"…in December 2011, a petition was being circulated in French parliament. It was signed by 74 senators and 282 members of the Assembly. It demanded support for the People’s Mujahedin Organization of Iran and its leader Maryam Rajavi, as well as guarantee for international protection of camp Ashraf in Iraq.
” As I know, a large number of these representatives think that they are supporting democracy in Iran by embracing the PMOI. However, I should emphasize that the signatories know almost nothing about the history of the PMOI. So I found it useful to notify the history of the group which is Marxist Islamist"
The author refers to the MKO’s treasonous cooperation with former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein against Iranian people and Iraqi Kurds and Shiits and notices the lack of support for the group among Iranian community. She poses questions to those French officials and governmental bodies who are involved with the cult of Rajavi:
"How can a group which has had no base in its county since long time, suggest analysis and advice on the current situation of the country?
Can you count on any party or organization that claims to be democratic?"
Ms. Goulet concludes: "Regarding the past of the PMOI, it’s hard to believe that such a group that still suffers all symptoms and problems of a totalitarian cult of personality, violent activities, hidden financial resources, lie, threat, accusation and destruction of civilians under the pretext of enlightening, has turned into a democratic organization!"
