Malek Beit Mashaal is from Ahwaz. He spent 15 years within the affairs of the Mujahedin-e Khalq Cult. he left the group in Albania.
“ I defected the group due to the leaders’ lies.Through new rules they sought to make the new base Ashraf 3 in Albania a new prison as were the case in Camps Ashraf and Liberty. ..”
Defectors of the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (the MKO/MEK/the Cult of Rajavi) could manage to receive their monthly payment from the UN High Commissioner of Refugees, reported Sahar Family Foundation.
The UNHCR had stopped monthly payment and housing benefits for political refugees after they dissociated themselves from the MKO.
Once they rejected membership in the MKO, the group leaders had confiscated the monthly payment and the facilities that the UNHCR normally allocates to each refugee. Defectors could finally achieve their legal rights after their extensive protests to the UNHCR and the Albanian government.
According to SFF, the UNHCR has promised the defectors to resolve the problems they are faced with including their legal identity and work permits.
The UNHCR will also negotiate with the Albanian government about the defectors’ traveling permissions in Albania, reported SFF.
Dear Denis MacShane,
I am Mehdi Khoshal, a resident of Germany. I would like to thank you for your humanitarian intervention and say sorry if you also received any injuries due to your attempt to rescue me. I would like to start my letter with a line from the famous Iranian poet Sadi:
Human beings are members of a whole,
In creation of one essence and soul.
If one member is afflicted with pain,
Other members uneasy will remain.
I am the person who, on Wednesday sixth of December, was an invited guest to a Seminar in the European Parliament in Brussels about refugees. After the seminar, when I left by the main door of the European Parliament I was attacked by the Mojahedin Khalq thugs. At the same time something extraordinary happened. It is extraordinary when an Iranian is being targeted by terrorists in front of the buildings of the European Parliament and at that exact moment a writer and former British MP is present and tries to help but unfortunately, he himself is now at the receiving end of beatings and attacks by these terrorists.
Dear friend, who I have not seen and did not give any attention to on that evening while being beaten, I am also a writer in my own right. But my past experience and the problems involving my country have brought me to write about cults and terrorism over the past 25 years. I also, as have your good self, been targeted and faced life threatening attacks while trying to help others. Considering the helping hand you extended to an Iranian under attack and considering that you have paid a price by being attacked by the same perpetrators, I urge you to separate the experience of encountering the Mojahedin Khalq (Rajavi cult) with the normal behaviour of Iranian people who are certainly a peace-loving nation.
Finally, I would like to wish you good health and for the people of Europe friendship and peace.
Yours kindly,
Mehdi Khoshal

Mr. Farhadi; MKO Cult defector visited Nejat Society office of Arak Branch. Recalling and talking about his experiences as a MKO Cult member said:” What bad memories we left behind. Cult leaders treated us in a bad way and like slaves. We are responsible to expose the MKO Cult and show its true nature to everybody. I will write down my memoirs as a MKO Cult member. I will publish my views on the cult functions and characteristics on NejatNGO Website.
I wish to see all those who are still captives of the group be released and the cult leaders to be collapsed.
Two survivors of the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MEK aka the Rajavi cult) named Bahman Azami and Saadallah Seifi who recently managed to escape the cult, along with Adel Azami, a former MEK member who joined them from the UK, (all three from Kermanshah Province in the west of Iran), took part in various activities in Tirana, as below, to talk about their experiences:
– Two separate interviews with Gazeta Impakt
– An interview with the television TemA TV in two episodes
– Two separate meetings with the UNHCR and RMSA (the Albanian refugee agency)
– Inviting officials of the UNHCR and RMSA to visit other MEK survivors in the MEK hostel in Tirana and accompanying them on this visit
– Two meetings in the Albanian ministry of interior affairs
– Meeting in the US embassy in Tirana
– Visiting various media and NGOs in Albania
These above mentioned individuals raised the following issues in their visits and interviews:
– Describing the problems the European Union has with Albania and concerns about the presence of a terrorist cult in the country
– Protection of the former members of the MEK and how their security is ensured by the Albanian government
– Introducing Sahar Family Foundation in Tirana to the Albanian government and the US embassy and the UN as the only solution to the present problems
– Expressing concern about the covert agreement made between the MEK and some political bodies which apparently safeguards some kind of modern slavery. Why the content of this agreement which was signed in Geneva and is regularly mentioned must be kept secret?
– The necessity of looking after the former members (providing even the same minimum level of support as it is granted to a prisoner), such as shelter, food, medication, family visits and etc., in order to prevent people being forced to go back to the cult or resort to criminal behaviour.
In these meetings, during which a representative of Sahar Family Foundation was present, the other parties were urged on behalf of the suffering families to clarify all agreements made within them and avoid any illegal and inhuman acts and also to not prevent the families and friends from helping their loved ones.
The Sahar Family Foundation representative emphasized that at the present time the Albanian authorities do not give any help themselves but nor do they allow the families to help their loved ones.
The officials met promised cooperation in the future in all aspects and mentioned that they know the present procedure is not right and there is a need to review the whole situation. They expressed that they are waiting for further contact and mutual activities with the Sahar Family Foundation.
In these meetings it was explained that as far as the EU parliamentarians are concerned they were informed that the US and Albania had plans to dismantle the cult and help the captured members return back to normal life, but that so far not even a trace of activity in this regard has been seen. This has created grave concern amongst the Europeans that an intact and active terrorist cult has now been moved away from the Iranian border and now sits on the border of the European Union.
The other parties said that they are aware of the concerns expressed by the EU parliamentarians about the presence of the MEK inside Europe. They understand that concerns about the security of Europe are serious. And they know that if this problem is not resolved in the proper way this will remain as an obstacle to Albania joining the EU.
The issue of former MEK members who have left Albania illegally and have become a problem for neighboring countries was also discussed. The Sahar Family Foundation was asked to inform the former members that under no circumstances should they try to leave Albania illegally since this would make their situation even more complicated. The former members should sort out their legal difficulties inside Albania.

Two of the Iranian mujahideen who fled from the Yzberisht palaces, where there are thousands, confess their experiences in Tirana. In an exclusive story for TemA TV they show how they reported dreams and thoughts to MEK leaders and then thousands of people gathered around them and laughed.)
Former members of the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (the MKO, MEK, the Cult of Rajavi, and PMOI) called for the trial of the group leaders, for crimes against humanity.
Five former members of the MKO met in the office of Nejat Society in Semnan where they signed a petition to bring Massoud and Maryam Rajavi to justice in a fair international court for their crimes against humanity including themselves and other members of the Cult of Rajavi.
They asked the authorities of the HCR and the Albanian government to facilitate the visit of the cult members and their families and to help them choose for their life in a free world.
Regarding the relocation of the group members in Albania, the defectors warned about the more oppressing atmosphere that rules the group’s base in Tirana compared with Camp Liberty, Iraq.
Ebrahim Khodabandeh the general director of Nejat Society, Abbas Mohammad pour, Zahra Mirbagheri, Abolfazl Yahyaiee and Gholamreza Maasoum Abadi, all recounted various cases of human rights violation they had witnessed in the MKO.
The following is their final appeal:
Dear Sirs,
As former members of the Cult of Rajavi, we lost the best years of life in the cult under the absolute power of Rajavi. We witnessed the pains and mental pressure of the cult authorities over the members.
Despite their pro-democracy and human rights slogans, Massoud Rajavi and his wife ruined our life. We were deprived of the most basic rights of human beings in the MKO. Those who were married were forced to divorce, they have not been allowed to see their loved ones for years.
Dissident members of the group were threatened, imprisoned and eventually tortured. In some cases they were killed in a secret way.
We did not have any access to mass media. We were not permitted to contact our family although we were willing to. Certain members were allowed to contact their families for the group’s favor including raising contributions or to recruit them — these cases were not known to ordinary members.
This organization with its terrorist background and the crimes it commits against human beings is hated by public opinion. It was also designated as a terrorist group by the US government and the EU. The group aided Saddam Hussein in suppressing the uprising of Iraqi Kurds and Shiites in 1991. Massoud Rajavi manipulated out comrades in order to commit suicide.
Therefore, we ask the authorities of the international human rights bodies and the Albanian government to bring Massoud and Maryam Rajavi to justice. We expect that our friends in the MKO’s bases in Tirana will be able to have their least right which is choosing their place of living, and will manage to contact their families without the intervention of the cult authorities. They should be given the chance to enjoy a free life the same as we do.

The EU Commission emergency service representatives joined together in Brussels to remember all of those killed and injured during the recent terrorist attacks.
The Commission also presented a new package of measures aimed at boosting protection, in the wake of the deadly attacks which have rocked the bloc.
The measures to be rolled out over the next 16 months will help Member States address vulnerabilities exposed by recent terrorist attacks and will make a real difference in enhancing security.
The EU proposals include stopping would-be attackers getting their hands on bomb-making ingredients, doing more to counter radicalization and boosting protection around public spaces.
Representatives of different European States participated the meetings. Mr. Javad Firouzmand; former member of the Mujahedin-e Khalq Terrorist Cult also participated the meetings, as an anti-terror activist.

letter to ICRI, HRW
Dear friends,
As you are aware, it is now one year since the great majority of members of the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MEK, MKO, Rajavi Cult) have taken up residence in Albania. These individuals were brought to Tirana by the UNHCR and are recognized as political refugees in this country. However, the UNHCR – contrary to all UN laws and regulations – has treated them as a group and not as individual persons, and has surrendered authority for them to the MEK leaders. The payment of their monthly refugee allowances is also given into the hands of the group.
Over the past year, many members have left the organization. The MEK, according to the commitments made in an agreement with Geneva, has paid their allowances to them. Then gradually the organization started to reduce and cut the monies given to the former members under the pretext of different excuses such as ‘contacting their families in Iran’. At the beginning of this month (September), the MEK announced that it would not pay anything to anybody.
The former members, who have no income and no family support in a foreign country, complained to the UNHCR in Albania (RAMSA) and other official bodies in this country. The formers asked to have their allowances paid directly to them. The response of the UNHCR and other authorities was simply to tell the MEK to start paying the allowances again and fulfill its commitments.
Today we learned that Maryam Rajavi has informed the UNHCR and some of the former members that they would start paying the allowances again according to their commitments.
But the former members do not want their lives to be controlled and dictated by a destructive mind control cult which abuses the most basic human rights of its members. Such an arrangement allows the MEK to do and demand whatever they want and to hold the monthly allowances as ransom for these conditions. As an example, this cult coerces some of the former members to act against others and spy on them in order to get their own money.
As the representative of the suffering families, Sahar Family Foundation urges you to send inspectors to investigate the gross and open violations of human rights against the former members of the MEK in Albania by Maryam Rajavi and the MEK with the assistance of the RAMSA. Unfortunately, international and humanitarian organizations have remained silent over this matter and have failed to do anything to prevent further abuses.
Some nearly 70 former members of the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization yesterday approached the UNHCR in Albania (RAMSA) with a petition signed by all of them demanding their rights.
RAMSA officials who met with these individuals – who are protesting against their refugee allowances being cut by the MEK – said they are following up the issue with Geneva and there will be an urgent meeting about the case.
The individuals told the officials that over the coming days they would, of course with more people, continue coming to their offices until their rights are restored and that they will not give in.
The RAMSA officials accepted the fact that the MEK has acted against the commitments made in an agreement in Geneva. Presumably the organization did not expect so many defectors. In addition, there are many more inside the group who wish to leave.
The text of the petition handed over to RAMSA is as follows:
Petition to the UNHCR and the Albanian ministry of interior affairs
In the name of Human Rights and in the name of Asylum seeking
We, a number of Iranian refugees in Albania and former members of the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MEK, MKO …), would like to address all related organs and draw their attentions to our cause.
We accepted the humanitarian invitation by the time Albanian government in cooperation with the USA and the UNHCR in Albania (RAMSA) and moved to this country after being expelled from Iraq.
We decided willingly to dispatch from the MEK and we wish to live freely on our own outside the organization.
We learned that apparently according to some possible agreements between the UNHCR and the MEK, the refugee allowances of the former members should be paid by the MEK directly.
The Organization started paying us 45000 Leks (Albanian currency) and this was made up to September 2017.
But surprisingly the Organization informed us recently that from the coming month no allowances will be paid to us and we can complain to the RAMSA if we wish.
It is worth mentioning that not being able to receive the money means a grave economical difficulty, and consequently psychological pressure, to the refugees who have left the MEK and would make the life impossible for us, since we are not Albanian citizens but refugees who have no financial support what so ever.
Therefore we urge the related organs including the RAMSA and the interior ministry to meet the below demands:
Many Thanks and regards
