MKO leader threaten members to death penalty

On the occasion of October 10th, World Day Against Death Penalty , the Mujahedin Khalq Organization’s propaganda arm, holds an alleged conference in Paris where its leader Maryam Rajavi claimed,” Our plan is an Iran without the death penalty”(!)

Meanwhile, a number of defectors of the MKO hold rallies, take actions and issue statements to denounce Rajavi’s claims. Besides, some of the former members posted their experiences and memoirs of Massoud and Maryam Rajavi as cult leaders who threaten their rank and file to death penalty.

Foad Basri is a defector of the MKO cult who hasn’t given up condemning the cult leaders in social networks. This is his Facebook status on October 11th, 2015:

“A video on the MKO website titled:” Tomorrow without Death Penalty” called a memory to my mind. I remember a meeting in Baharestan hall in Baghdad [when he was a member of the MKO]. Massoud Rajavi was walking on the stage, smoking a cigarette, when he said,”Anyone who wants to leave us, I mean in Baghdad, I myself issue his death sentence. In Iraq, we can do everything but unfortunately we cannot afford it, abroad. I allocate a place in [camp] Ashraf and I personally execute the mercenary renegades so that you do not think I’m kidding.” (!)

Mojahedin Khalq Ringleader Admits Massacre of 10,000 Iranian People

The ringleader of the terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO, also known as MEK, PMOI and NCRI) Massoud Rajavi in letters to Mikhail Gorbachev, the last leader of the Soviet Union, confessed that he had ordered the killing of over 10,000 Iranians.

The three letters which date back to 1985 were sent to the Soviet Union and the communist party 4 years after Rajavi escaped to France. A copy of each letter can also be found in Stanford University’s archives.

In these letters, Rajavi and Farhad Olfat, an MKO representative, have demanded $300mln aid and granting asylum to the MKO members who had fled Iran.

But what attracts attention in these letters, is Rajavi’s crystal-clear confession that he had ordered the killing of over 10,000 Iranians across the country which proves Tehran’s claims that the MKO has killed over 12,000 Iranian people.

The MKO, founded in the 1960s, blended elements of Islamism and Stalinism and participated in the overthrow of the US-backed Shah of Iran in 1979. Ahead of the revolution, the MKO conducted attacks and assassinations against both Iranian and western targets.

The group started assassination of the citizens and officials after the revolution in a bid to take control of the newly-established Islamic Republic. It killed several of Iran’s new leaders in the early years after the revolution, including the then President, Mohammad Ali Rajayee, Prime Minister, Mohammad Javad Bahonar and the Judiciary Chief, Mohammad Hossein Beheshti who were killed in bomb attacks by the MKO members in 1981.

The group fled to Iraq in 1986, where it was protected by Saddam Hussein and where it helped the Iraqi dictator suppress Shiite and Kurd uprisings in the country.

The terrorist group joined Saddam’s army during the Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-1988) and helped Saddam and killed thousands of Iranian civilians and soldiers during the US-backed Iraqi imposed war on Iran.

Since the 2003 US invasion of Iraq, the group, which now adheres to a pro-free-market philosophy, has been strongly backed by neo-conservatives in the United States, who argued for the MKO to be taken off the US terror list.

The US formally removed the MKO from its list of terror organizations in early September, one week after Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sent the US Congress a classified communication about the move. The decision made by Clinton enabled the group to have its assets under the US jurisdiction unfrozen and do business with the American entities, the State Department said in a statement at the time.

In September 2012, the last groups of the MKO terrorists left Camp Ashraf, their main training center in Iraq’s Diyala province. They have been transferred to Camp Liberty. Hundreds of the MKO terrorists have now been sent to Europe, where their names were taken off the blacklist even two years before the US.

The MKO has assassinated over 12,000 Iranians in the last 4 decades. The terrorist group had even killed large numbers of Americans and Europeans in several terror attacks before the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Some 17,000 Iranians have lost their lives in terror attacks in the 37 years after the Revolution.

MEK Formally Announce its Resumption of Terrorism

The MEK’s publicity outlets have broadcast a message from Massoud Rajavi to the members.

Before this, there had not been any video of his speeches since 2003. This time there wasn’t even an audio of Rajavi’s voice and the message was read by someone else.

After the usual lengthy rant, the main message is from one side threatening revenge against the Europeans and Americans for doing a deal with Iran.

From other side Rajavi ironically claims the deal signals the beginning of the end for Iran because the MEK will resume its terrorist operations and “You will hear about it in Iran; we will launch terrorist attacks soon”.

Contrary to the MEK’s mask of peace and democracy in the West, the MEK has announced its resumption of terrorism from its satellite TV in London and its website from Auvers-sur-Oise near Paris.

The general interpretation among MEK experts is that this mixed message demonstrates Rajavi’s panic as he sees Iran getting closer to the West and the gap he depends upon to exploit is closing up.

On the other hand the absence of audio has introduced more mystery to the question of Rajavi’s whereabouts.

Corrupt Leadership led to MKO decline

Half a century after the foundation of the Mujahedin Khalq Organization ( the MKO/MEK), as an armed militant group against the Shah of Iran, the group’s critics including its defectors analyze the path that ended in the decline of the group and its transformation from an armed political organization to a cult of personality.

Mr. Sirous Ghazanfari, an ex- member of the MKO describes how Massoud Rajavi’s leadership brought about the collapse of the group. Ghazanfari was interviewed by Nejat Society, Eastern Azarbayjan office.

Mr. Ghazanfari divides the MKO’s history in to three parts. The first includes the foundation of the organization as an enormous step that was very crucial in the struggle to overthrow the Shah. The main founders were honest and devoted, according to Ghazanfari.

The second part of the group’s history was a turning point. First founders were executed by the regime of Shah. The absence of great leaders opened the way for deviated members and violent elimination of critics inside the organization.

Lack of noble leaders left the organization in the hands of Massoud Rajavi who according to Ghazanfari did not succeed to manage the group because of his ambitions and narcissist personality.

Ghazanfari suggests that Rajavi’s absolute power over the organization was a terrible coup against members; it was impossible to run such an organization under the dictatorship of Rajavi.

Rajavi’s despotic approach led him to declaration of armed struggle against Islamic Republic, even though his group was among the first who congratulated Ayatollah Khomeini after the Islamic Revolution in 1979. So third phase of the MKO history began.

Ghazanfari stresses that Rajavi‘s statement to declare armed struggle against the newly established Iranian government was an axe to the root of the group. “The decision imposed heavy expenses on the group”, he says. It caused a separation between the group members and the average Iranian society and the collapse of the organization.

In 1981, Massoud Rajavi was sheltered by the enemy in war with Iran, Saddam Hussein. ”Rajavi who was not able to respond criticism,” says Ghazanfari,” proposed the ridiculous idea of “Maryam “as “Symbol of Salvation”! Since then the primarily Mujahedin Khalq Organization turned into a cult.

After the fall of Saddam Hussein, members of the Cult of Rajavi began questioning the leader’s strategy and attitude towards US forces who had disarmed the group and had signed an agreement with group leaders. Members who had once joined an anti-US organization based on armed struggle doubted the cult leaders.

“After the fall of Saddam”, Ghazanfari explained,”Rajavi was no more able to force members to stay in the cult but he was able to deceive them and he deceived them.”

He admitted that the organization was no more the one its founders founded. “It is Maryam’s organization and you should admit Maryam’s ideology,” Ghazanfari cites from Rajavi.

According to the Ghazanfari, in order to maintain his cult in Iraq instead of relocating it outside Iraq, Massoud Rajavi resorted to various means including hostility against families of cult members – who have been suffering a lot in their unsuccessful efforts to visit or contact with their beloved ones taken as hostages in the Cult or Rajavi.

Ghazanfari accurately suggests,” in my opinion, the MKO leader could not lead the group toward a stable secured situation. He was not skillful enough to save his organization in the political currents of Iraq.”

“The cult of Rajavi is drowning”, he says. “The crisis in the MKO is so deep that its leaders cannot find a way out. They always claim that they won but they never explain how!”

Warning on the rise of Iranian ISIS

Open letter to Masoud Rajavi

Mr. Rajavi, I heard your latest voice message on the U-Tube on the occasion of Ashura 139 (2014).

Since 1979 in the political wing of the MEK, in response to why MEK should talk and seek the support of Western Governments, Political Parties, Human Rights Organizations… while your teachings obviously talks against them as imperialist institutions that are established only to exploit the world, your answer has always been:

“we must deceive the west about our true nature, the strategy of dealing with enemies rules to deal with them one at a time, first the home enemy then, when we have the power, comes the next enemy “Imperialist-Devourer West” that would be our glorious revolution and victory, so tactically we must take liberal positions to deceive and neutralize the next coming enemies. We must not only work hard to prevent our enemies from uniting against us, but we must even utilize them to defeat our home enemy.”

It was astonishing that, in your recent message you repeated the same exact words you have been hidden for more than three decades, that the UN and the UNAMI and the Human rights organizations are only words on the papers and called USA as the Colonialist that should wait for its turn to arrive?!!. Saying:

“It is my will that all our opponents must be punished, the days of the oppressed against the oppressors will arrive. This United Nation and UNAMI are all working for the ruling governments, the human rights issues are worthless words and are only good for composition, the Human Rights will be written with blood of the oppressed. The demarcation between us and the Reactionaries, the Colonialists, those working or in line with them and helping them, is with blood. Our diplomatic works and endeavors are all for preparation for the fire of the war, this regime will not only be toppled by USA, UNAMI and their cooperators. USA and UNAMI’s hands are in the hands of the Iranian Regime…”.

“…As we are working with the UN and USA and human rights organizations but we don’t believe in what they are doing and we know that we have to deal with our problems ourselves and that is through war and blood and revolution as there is a sea of blood between us and the enemy…let me repeat if we are working with UN and USA this is only because we want to prepare for the war…”.

It is unfortunate that after nearly four decades of crystal clear Strategic, political, military and even the worst, ideological dead ends that you have caused for the MEK which has had no fruit but death, bloodsheds and agonies for Iranian people in general and for the MEK members and their families in specific, not only you have not learnt from it, but childishly and obstinately violated all your international obligations that you will not enter to any terrorist activities any more. It implies while for the reason of your name being removed from lists of the terrorist organizations by American and European; you agreed to reject violent and terrorist activities, but in a way that was a tactical move and your strategy still is based on violence, war, and bloodshed.

Mr. Rajavi, the world has changed, there contemporary world as the Iranian people are all against all sorts of violence. Iranian peace loving people clearly showed it to the world in recent years that they defy all sorts of violence. The Civilized World is also against violence and it would be childish to think of deceiving them.

Even if you deceive the civilized world, however all the facts show that you have not been able to do so. Iranians will not tolerate another ISIS in Iran. Iranians want changes through democratic means and want to be at peace with the rest of the world and with each other. Even if you succeed in sending one or two death squads here of there, you cannot achieve anywhere, the civilized world has defeated Osama bin Laden and is defeating ISIS.

While you, as always, shed crocodile tears for the killed members of MEK in Ashraf and elsewhere to beguile those who have been trapped in the so called camp liberty as a result of your genius policies, called for bloodshed, killing, revenge, and also preparation for the final attack?! You even called for revenge against USA and UN and the whole world?!

Apart from your insane call, One must be out of his mind to call for killing and revenge while camp liberty residents cannot even provide their daily needs, the last time the enemy came into Ashraf, killed as many as they could and took with them as many as they could and your super heroes whom you forced them to divorce their spouse, leave their children, family and everything they had, which are supposed to move mountains bear handed could only get killed and nothing more. You are guiding the criminals to act better this time and not enter the camp but as in previous cases fire from the distance to provide more ammunition for your diplomatic shows?!! It is very obvious that you do not care about the Camp Liberty Residents if they are killed or deprived from their basic rights…

May be people outside MEK are not very familiar with you and your attitudes, but I know as thirty years members as hundreds of times in the past I have witnessed, you even curse your members for being killed yes for being killed, or even for surviving in the Iranian regime prisons.

Remember all those prisoners who escaped or were release from prisons and joined MEK in Iraq again, were cursed for surviving the prisons. Many have even been tortured by your top officials for it, since you believe that she or he must have died in the prison, and real members are does who have died in the prisons. You have repeatedly said that all the mujahedin must be ashamed of being alive!!!

You remember that you cursed all those 1400 members killed and even those who survived from that collective suicidal attack you sent them with no knowledge of war and military operations what so ever and were all slaughtered at that attack to Iran called Foroge Javidan (eternal light)?

Remember when Saddam did not meet you for seven years and for you to please him did everything you could, including, sending hit teams to Iran from Iraq while MEK members were in no way prepared to do so due to the loss of 1400 of their co-fighters in the so called eternal light operation? But you deceived mujahedin mendaciously that these operations are to keep on the fire of the revolution. But only after you helped Saddam to survive the Kurdish forces attack in the first Iraq war? Saddam accepted to meet you and you were jubilant after 7 years for being accepted. Remember the flattering, subservient and obsequious sickening language you used when you saw Saddam, repeating many time “pray to God, pray to God” that he has survived the coalition attacks. You called Iraq your second home thinking that now that Saddam has survived the first Iraq war you must now please Saddam to help you reach power? Of course he gifted you only with a few machine guns that you received it via his defense minister?

Remember all those hit teams who were trained in Iraq and you sent from Iraq to Iran for terrorist activities while you were commanding them from Paris were all arrested at the first check points of the border towns or were all killed in the clashes at the check points?

Remember the hit team of Jalal whom were attacked by the Badr group while crossing the border from Iraq to Iran for operation inside Iran and were wounded and had no water to drink at temperatures of 60 degree Celsius in the border and asked for help from the command post that you yourself were listening to them (as you always did), not only you did not help them but you curse them because they put you in an embarrassing situation?! They were all killed.

Remember all those limited border attacks with the full military and intelligence and financial support of Saddam that left thousands killed on both sides of the border from Iranian soldiers to the MEK members? As you claimed all those attacks were supposed to topple the regime in Iran.

Your analysis that one day Saddam will realize the value of the Mujahedin and fully support you to attack inside Iran never happened and instead of the Iranian regime, Saddam was toppled.

Remember that at the second Iraq war while keeping mujahedin at total news blackout your analysis was that US will never attack Iraq. And when the members questioned in case US did attack Iraq and us what would be our position, you replied, we will attack USA as our enemy.

USA attacked Iraq and also attacked all your bases in Iraq and killed many of the Mujahedin. Having lost your landlord, your brother Saddam Hussein, in shocking amazement the next day you called Saddam the toppled dictator?!!

Immediately after the meeting with a US Military commander in Ashraf you were jubilant and claimed in your analyses that we have found a new landlord, and claimed that USA is about to realize our values and help us conquer Iran. In this regards you even asked for full military support including arms, helicopters even air strike support!!

You have been lobbying in the West, US Senate and Congress for three decades with this object of deceiving the West about your real nature. Not only they weren’t deceived but they disarmed you and took Ashraf away from you when they got to know your real values.

In your last audio message you called for revenge against USA and international bodies!? Adding that USA and the West have deceived us and will not topple the Iranian Regime for us, we must do it ourselves. You even threatened USA by saying “be warned about the day that we decide to retaliate and answer the fist with fist and the bullet with bullet, and the clip of you saying that to the Iranian Regime in 1980 before you started terrorist operations against the Regime was shown. You were even jubilant that, since USA has not toppled the Iranian regime for you, is now himself facing the ISIS.

No wonder that you are now trying to make a new landlord out of ISIS in Iraq for yourself, and hoping that when they topple the Iraqi government, will find real values in you and will help you topple Iranian regime?!

You also threatened the dissident defected members of MEK and NCR for retaliation. You ordered the Fedaee (self –sacrificing) teams to be prepared for it. But be assured that even if you succeed in a few terrorist activities here of there, but fortunately the world is united against all sorts of terrorism. Of course Mr. Rajavi you don’t know any other means, you even told the General Assembly of the members in Camp Ashraf that you will meet the dissident members inside the Mujahidin with Iron Fist.

As said above the Iranian people must have thought you a lesson that; they are against any violence and terrorist activities. They have showed it to the world independent of political bodies inside or outside Iran.

I warn you and the world against any terrorist activities that you may plan in the future outside Iran.

I call first the top officials inside the Mujahedin to think twice and learn lessons from the contemporary world and oppose Rajavi’s insane and terroristic policies, and second, I call the world to take actions and watch out for such terroristic threats.

The last word is with the world and not Rajavi, the residence in Camp Liberty have no value for Rajavi but to be used as the ammunition for his survival in the media. Those in the Camp must be released from the clenches of Rajavi. Rajavi has created a cult that people with decades of brainwash and in total news blackout cannot realize the reality of the real and contemporary world. That is why he opposes any independent contacts of the UNAMI or any international bodies with the camp residents.

Rajavi tortures Camp Liberty residents in Iraq by denying family contact

Mr. Haider al-Abadi, the Prime Minister of Iraq

Dear Sir,

With regards, the work of Sahar Family Foundation is to campaign for and support the families of individuals trapped in the Mojahedin Khalq Organization’s (MKO) Iraqi base, Camp Liberty, in their efforts to gain contact with and access to their loved ones.

Over a period of thirty years the MKO leader, Massoud Rajavi, has used his power as a cult leader to coerce his followers into breaking off all contact with their families unless they were willing to join the organization, pay money, or otherwise help the group.

Even since the group was disarmed and contained in one base, protected by American then Iraqi soldiers, the MKO leader still refuses to allow families to have normal contact. Even letters and phone calls are forbidden for the residents, most of whom are over the age of fifty-five, and many of whom are sick and ailing.

Massoud Rajavi understands that familial love is stronger than the coercive control he imposes on the members and that once families have re-established contact there is a strong likelihood that the member will leave him. As a cult leader he calls families ‘poison’ with good reason, though with little finesse.

It is in this context that we can examine an article published by the MKO website, Iran Focus, on November 28, 2014 which claims that “Iran plots to torture Camp Liberty refugees in Iraq”.

The article comes after Ebrahim Khodabandeh met with Iraqi and international officials as well as the Iranian Ambassador in October on behalf of Sahar Family Foundation in order to promote the families’ efforts to find peaceful and effective solutions for removing the residents of Camp Liberty from Iraq as required by law. Khodabandeh had been a member of the MKO’s ‘International Relations’ department for 23 years before leaving the group. He now heads the families’ campaign to visit their loved ones inside Camp Liberty. This basic right is still denied by Rajavi in spite of pressure from the ICRC and UN as well as Iraq’s human rights ministry.

Massoud Rajavi’s extreme sensitivity to the presence of families outside the camp perimeter can be easily explained. Most residents who manage to escape the cult or who are transferred by the UNHCR to third countries prefer to establish contact with and return to their families rather than maintain membership of the MKO. The extreme threat which Rajavi feels from these ordinary families to the control he has over his cult members is therefore expressed in equally extreme terms, calling it “torture”.

Sahar Family Foundation believes that the denial of family contact must of course be extremely painful for the residents. But it is Rajavi who is solely responsible for this situation. It is he who, in his own words, is torturing the residents.

Reporting on his visit, Sahar website wrote, “Khodabandeh warned Iraqi officials of the threat Camp Liberty residents are exposed to. He emphasized the need to take serious action in order to prevent a human catastrophe in Camp Liberty where no one is responsible except Massoud Rajavi the leader of the MKO cult.”

Past experience shows that Rajavi, as any other destructive mind control cult leader, is frightened to death of allowing his followers to visit their families, and he is now trying to accuse everyone, including officials of the UN and ICRC as well as Ebrahim Khodabandeh, of plotting against him and his cult.

We wish to remind you and the government of Iraq and the International bodies working with Camp Liberty that a family visit is a fundamental right for the residents under international law and under no pretext, including those invented by Rajavi, should this right continue to be denied.

Presence of families outside camp liberty is torture for residents, says Rajavi

There are signs that Massoud Rajavi is beginning to panic about losing control of the residents of Camp Liberty. Plans made by the UN to remove these former MEK members from Iraq are accelerating, with 233 residents recently transferred to Albania despite Rajavi’s attempts to prevent the move. Shortly after this, Rajavi threatened to kill anyone who speaks publicly about what goes on inside the camp.

The announcement below, published by his site Iran Focus, is another indication that the imminent disintegration of Camp Liberty has sent Rajavi into a panic. His attempt to present genuine families, mostly elderly mothers and fathers or middle aged siblings of Camp Liberty residents, as “hired agents” (a claim easily disproved with a few checks), is not the real issue. The idea, however, that residents of the camp can be psychologically tortured by the presence of families – real or imagined – outside the camp’s perimeter is an indication of both their fragile state and Rajavi’s madness.

Iran is to send undercover agents to Camp Liberty disguised as family members of Iranian opposition movement, the People’s Mojahedin Organization (PMOI/MEK), in a smear campaign against the dissidents in Iraq, according to the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).

The regime has tasked the Nejat Association, a branch of Ministry of Intelligence and Security, to dispatch agents to the camp in Iraq, the group said based on the information obtained from inside Iran.

In October, Tehran sent several well-known regime agents, including Ebrahim Khodabandeh, to meet the regime;s ambassador in Baghdad to pave the way for the offensive against Camp Liberty residents.

Reports published on MOIS websites on November 22 revealed that Iran’s embassy in Iraq had pledged to use all its resources in its drive to make contact with ‘captive members of the Rajavi sect[..]

Why Masoud Rajavi and Maryam Rajavi don’t want to protect the lives of CL residents from the threats of ISIS.

Iranian Pen club ( Kanon Iran Galam) consists of dissident senior ex-members of PMOI with more than 20 years of history with the PMOI whom are now Human rights activists and pursuing to save the lives of the rest of the members entangled in Camp Liberty.

As ISIS is advancing in Iraq, committing crime against humanity in the towns and villages especially against women and children. It has also been reported that ISIS is now near Baghdad and Camp Liberty, which pauses great danger towards the lives of its residents.

Leaders of the PMOI, Masoud and Maryam Rajavi, very well know the seriousness of the threat but not only take no action to save the residents of Camp Liberty, but insist on keeping them in the Camp.

Qua, last week Masoud Rajavi in a voice message to the residents of Camp Liberty which was also reported on PMOI’s media and can be reached via internet, having threatened to kill the dissident members, ordered the Camp Liberty residents that they must stay in there to the last man.Why?

There are many reasons why Masoud Rajavi and Maryam Rajavi don’t want to protect the lives of their members from the threats of ISIS. Even the Republican Senator John McCain who is a known lobby of the PMOI also mentioned in his Oct 22, 2014 message to the Secretary John Kerry: “As you are aware, due to the increasingly dangerous threat of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), the resettlement process has stalled, and many fear that the people at Camp Liberty could be at grave risk if the security situation in Iraq, and especially in Baghdad, continues to deteriorate.”. But PMOI not only keeps the residents in total black out concerning the news of the threatening situation of Iraq and Camp Liberty, but also deceitfully talks about the ISIS as the revolutionary tribes of Iraq which are fighting to overthrow the Iraqi Government, and at the rule of the ISIS, PMOI can be armed again.

Therefore, with regards to the grave security situation in Iraq and especially threats to the lives of the Camp Liberty residents, Kannon Iran Galam appeal to all the international bodies and the Human Rights Organizations to take steps to save the lives of residents of this camp.

Iranian Pen club also warns against the threats of Masoud Rajavi to kill the dissident members and would hold PMOI responsible for any terrorist threats against its dissident ex-members around the world and in Iraq.

We urge the International bodies to put pressure on the PMOI leadership to stop obstructing and impeding the process of displacement of the residents of Camp Liberty to a third country and cooperate with the UN organizations and UNHCR.

The MKO and the mirage of Alternative for IRI

The likely successful nuclear negotiations between Iran and the West have pushed the Mujahedin Khalq Organization (the MKO) to face more challenges in order to impede a normalized Iran-West relationship. The group’s heavy scale well-funded lobbying campaign to derail diplomacy with Iran has come up with new dimensions.

For years, the MKO’s propaganda had focused on the Iranian nuclear program, spreading misinformation about it but once the nuclear talks started in Geneva, the group found itself empty handed. While the Cult of Rajavi has always claimed to be the alternative to the Iranian Government, the ongoing diplomacy process between Iran and the West has wiped out its slightest hope for achieving power in Iran. Furthermore, today the MKO is more concerned for its own survival, let alone governing Iran –Where it hardly ever enjoys public support.

That’s why the MKO is awfully nervous about the recent visits to Iran by the European politicians. For instance, the group, denounced a trip last month to Tehran by Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz. The denunciation came two weeks after the so-called Friends of Free Iran (FoFi), an informal network of members of the European Parliament (MEPs) closely allied to the NCRI, organized a conference calling for regime change in Iran and lauding the NCRI-MEK as the democratic alternative, according to Edar Mamedov who is a political adviser for the social-democrats in the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament (EP) and is in charge of the delegation for inter-parliamentary relations between the EP and Iran. [1]

After the election of Rouhani as the Iranian president, the significant progress in the Nuclear negotiations pushed the MKO propaganda to actively run the new agenda of Human Rights. As an official who witnesses the MKO’s lobbying efforts in the European Parliament, Mamedov suggests, “So, the MEK, which detests the notion of rapprochement between Iran and the West, has shifted gears and chosen human rights as its casus belli against the Iranian regime.”[2]

Although Mamedov does not disregard “the capacity of the MEK to poison the present atmosphere of European-Iranian relations”, he clarifies, “The good news is that MEK lobbying efforts against diplomacy with Iran are unlikely to succeed.” [3]

“Even with the extravagant funds the MEK has spent on endorsements by political elites, the group’s prominence in the EU is confined only to one part of the EP,” writes Mamedov.” The foreign policy decision-making bodies of the EU — the Council of the EU and the External Action Service (EEAS) — do not consider the MEK a serious alternative to the current government in Tehran, as it has virtually no support among the Iranian population. ” [4]

Among the few European parliament members who favor Maryam Rajavi and her cult-like organization, Alejo Vidal-Quadras the Spanish EU Parliament member is “the key man in Spanish political relations with the Iranian People’s Mujahedeen”, according to Elsa S. Vejo of the Spanish News Website Esterella Digital. [] The Spanish journalist criticizes their 13-years working politician for the “astonishing” cause of the MKO. According to official versions, the MEK was “voluntarily disarmed”.” According to the unofficial version, the CIA and the Israeli Mossad is training the Mojahedin for their own benefit,” He writes. “So much so, that in January 2012, Ilan Mizrahi, former head of the secret Israeli intelligence service, disclosed the involvement of the Mojahedin in the “secret war” against Iran that had already cost the lives of four Iranian nuclear scientists.” [5]

In addition, the support for the group in the US Congress is not so noteworthy. There are also a few retired American officials who embrace the MKO in response to large amounts of donation the group pays them. Rudy Guiliani former New York mayor is one of the well-paid ardent sponsors of the group whose “warm embrace of the MEK terrorist organization is shocking and deplorable.”

Hamid Babaei counselor and head of Press Office for the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations in New York wrote a response to an op-ed by Rudolph Giuliani , “Team Obama keeps miscalculating Iran — ‘change’ under Rouhani is a mirage” that appeared in Fox News Opinion. Babaei states, ” Journalists and think tanks across the world have sounded the alarm regarding the “cult-like” practices of the MEK, such as forcing members to give up their children in order to dedicate more time to the cause, and their decades long reign of terror and brutality has been well established by many including the U.S. Department of State when it designated it as terrorist organization in 1997 while describing it as a “repressive cult despised by most Iranians and Iraqis.” Babaei also refers to the 2009 report by the Rand Corp. in which the authors denounce the MKO for its “cultic practices and its deceptive recruitment and public relations strategies”.[6]

The MKO’s large-scale effort to gain the West’s support does not seem to be efficient. “The dominant EU line now clearly favors diplomacy with Iran, which will, hopefully, lead to a final deal over Tehran’s controversial nuclear program,” suggests Mamedov.” The more the chances of success for diplomacy increase, the more irrelevant the MEK will become.” [7]

Massoud Rajavi panics over new revelations

The new message of the leader of the Mujahedin Khalq Organization, Massoud Rajavi granted an opportunity to former members of the cult-like group to denounce their former leader and his cult once Massoud Rajavi panics over new revelations again. Massoud Rajavi tried in vain to demonize his former followers –now critics.

In spite of severe mind-control system ruling" the cult of Rajavi", the defection process has not stopped. Perhaps the most frustrating stage of defection –for Massoud Rajavi– took place in Tirana, Albania where out of 210 individuals transferred from Camp Liberty, 75 left the group hegemony. These newly released individuals who are now experiencing the life in a free world in the absence of the cult control.

In an Open Letter dated January 21 addressed to Jane Holl Lute, Special Adviser to the UN Secretary General for the Relocation of Camp Hurriya (aka Liberty) Residents Outside of Iraq, fifty nine former MEK members asked her to help the people in Iraq and in Albania. They emphatically asked her to bypass the MEK leaders because they are the problem and not part of the solution.

The human action by ex-members of the MKO is immediately faced with the group’s hasty reaction. According to Iran interlink, Several Iranian residents in Europe who have contact with their friends in Tirana are now reporting that the MKO agents are exerting huge pressure on the disaffected members, who have been moved to another building block, to sign a petition against these fifty nine people and denounce them as “agents of the regime". The MKO agents make efforts to buy the recently defected individuals in Albania back to the cult. Except for a few who have money from their families the rest must rely either on $200 per month from the UNHCR or alternatively the MEK will give them $500 per month on condition they work on the internet (to promote the MEK) and not work against them in any way. They threaten the refugees to death if they do not cooperate with them.

The panic of collapse is also evidently seen in the new message of the cult leader Massoud Rajavi. He runs a torrent of fabrications against former members. Along with its cult guru the MKO’s propaganda begins a campaign of accusations against former members. The group’s so-called National Council of Resistance published an announcement to propagate its misinformation about a number of ex-members labeling them as the agents of the Iranian Intelligence Ministry in Iraq.

Actually, a large number of defectors of the MKO are currently active critics of the group. Enjoying the free world they have access to the Internet. They run their own websites and weblogs and use different media including online social networks to denounce the cult and its leaders. Having experienced the horrible life of the cult and witnessed the atrocities of the group leaders against its own members, Iranian country men, and Iraqi Kurds and Shiites.

The new MKO’s flood of accusations against defectors and critics has no use except a tool to threat other members who are still taken as hostages behind the bars of the cult. All these allegations and accusations are made to give a lesson to the other hostages of the consequences of leaving the cult. In fact, the target audience of the MKO propaganda particularly in Farsi and the alleged messages of Rajavi are exclusively for the brainwashed followers and a few misled sympathizers of the cult.

As a matter of fact, the MKO misinformation has another outcome too; it provokes ex-members to get more active in exposing the true substance of the cult. Most defectors who are residing in Iraq or Albania have been interviewed by UN monitors. One of these people is Ali Khatami who currently resides in Hotel Mohajer (where the MKO propaganda claims to be the base of the Iranian Intelligence agent) after recently escaping the MEK camp. Khatami has told Iran interlink that all he has said against Massoud and Maryam Rajavi can be proved. He referred to Ms. Jane Holl Lute’s visit to Hotel Mohajer. " Along with her assistant [she] visited the ex members and wrote down everything we said and promised she would have more frequent contact with us as part of her work," Iran interlink quoted Khatami. “Rajavi may think she came here because we are more important, but the truth is, she came here because we are free and accessible. She cannot access and talk freely with people inside Camp Liberty without the presence of Rajavi’s henchmen. UNAMI [in its Half Yearly Report on Human Rights – January to June 2013] clearly describes the various obstructive behavior of the MEK and that is why Jane Holl Lute had to come to us."

Today, the MKO defectors seem to be determined to help release their former comrades. This is an effective tool in order to break through the bars of the cult, meanwhile a horrible nightmare for the MKO leaders who are struggling hard to survive.
